Hello,
I have strange problem.
When my S3 is in power saving mode (in bright sunlight condition) screen is flickering. When i turn off power saving mode, flickering disapire.
Can samone tell is it normal?
Thnks for answers
actually i have the same problem
until i turned off the power saver.
but what do you think the cause of this problem?
i working on it, and what i will do now is removing my sd card and see the results.
this issue appeared when i bought and inserted my new sd card card.
will update you..
THX
If you have set the power saving mode for the screen, it will use a lower framerate
Your flickering should come from that
Only solution: disable power saving for screen
yes, but this issue never seen until i did update my firm ware to last one.
i think it's firmware issue.
i will try to contact Samsung and see if there any answer they can give.
Hi, so, I have my SGS3 for almost a week now. Using Omega v27 and enjoying every second of it.
One thing bothers me (besides the dialer ) - it takes the phone a good 2 seconds to turn on when i press the power button. I'm not talking about restarting itself. I'm talking when the phone is on, there is no app running, and i lock it. Clicking the power button should bring up the unlock screen, but it takes a whooping 2 seconds for it to turn on.
On my previous Galaxy Mini, it was instant.
Is there any way to fix it?

I have the same problem on every S3 i have ever used in my hands.
Its called "wake up lag"... 1.5-2s - its normal and I hate this so much!!!
It´s the time samsung need to wake up modem and so on after going to deep sleep (5s after switching off). You can download some software tools to prevent deep sleep, but its not battery friendly...
Its not a software problem - its a hardware problem - No... its a Samsung problem.

I have never had that problem. I really have no solution apart from a wipe but it definitely seems a issue as I have never faced it.

This is not a problem.
It was there in my S2 after ICS update.
It is present in S3 also and it takes a second before lock screen appears after pressing power or home key.
you have to live with this.
It's Samsung's 'wakeup lag' that seems to appear in every one of their Android phones.
No way to get rid of it other than to flash AOSP/AOKP roms I believe.
Ok, so i recently exchanged my SGS 1 to an SGS 2 and now i have a weird problem:
right away i flashed SlimIcs 4.2 , everything went fine and the rom was working like it should , but then i noticed that when my phones screen is off and its in idle, the screen lights up every 1minute or so by itself.
I also noticed that it stays in idle normally when charging the phone or when listening to music which seems odd ..
I tried changing the kernel to Siyah and Dorimanx, neither helped
I disabled android logger, disabled wifi and wifi notifications, tried to find a rogue app by using Airblocker app.. No go .
Im running out of ideas, has anyone had this annoying problem? it wouldnt even bother me, but ofcourse its eating my battery up by preventing my phone to sleep properly.
I would really appreciate some help to get my new phone up and running!
Download GSam battery monitor from play store and select app usage. then at the top, select app sucker and a drop down box will appear. Then select "view number of times waking device".
It should then show what app is waking it up.
But after you installed the app, wait half an hour or so, so it can get a reading.

Umm. There is a way to put the phone into safe mode. It boots up without the apps you downloaded. Maybe try that and see if it is an app that's causing it.
I'm just about to find out How to put into safe mode.
Edit: 1. Switch off the phone by pressing on the Power button.
2. Then turn the phone back on, while it is turning on press and hold the Menu button.
3. Now continue to hold*the Menu button until you see the Home screen. On the home screen you see it say Safe Mode on the left hand corner.

I once got into it by-mistake once.
Think it was by repeatedly pressing the menu button when the bootanimation starts
EDIT: Seems I got a bit late when replying
i cant manage to get into safe mode.. but weird as it is, the phone doesnt turn the screen off so often than before.. got a 1%/ h drain last night.. but it still does it. Soo frustrating -.-
I downloaded BetterBatteryStats , and will run a few tests, i will report back tommorrow
To put into safe mode, hold menu soft key soon as the boot animation begins. Then release when phone is fully booted.

Just cant get it to boot in safemode.. i have a feeling that the phone has some other issues too cause, when i turn it off it wont go off , only reboot back. Anyways, i managed to produce a log with BetterBatteryStats app.. if anyone with knowledge could take a look
EDIT: I have pretty muched solved the draining problem from over 4%/h to 1%/h , my screen is still waking up now and then, but it doesnt bother me since my drain is good. Thanks for everyone who helped me get this phone working like it should!
The screen of my Cherry Mobile Flare S3 Power is turning off while I was about to make a call or if I answered someone's call. Is this a proximity bug? Before, within a normal condition of my phone, the screen is only turning off if I place my face near the screen in a call mode and it turns on again after I move away my face. I can't use my phone after call mode coz the screen is in a sleep mode even if i pushed the power button. My only way to use my phone again is recovery mode and reboot. How can I fix this? Guys, please help. Sorry for my english

Yes it has a screen protector. But now I noticed that the issue never occur if the screen is facing to the sunlight or high lights at night
Hey guys, help me please troubleshoot this issue without resetting my phone..
My Samsung phone (after small/short water damage) has an issue..
If I turn it on, the screen lights up and I can see Samsung logo and welcome screen.
I can login to my phone using pattern unlock and use it just fine, there is no issues, but once screen turns off (due to screen time out, or if I press power button) it will never turn on again, even fingerprint doesn't turn it on..
AOD will not come up as well
Any thoughts?
