[Q] Pdroid in CM9 RC2 for I9300? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Permission management is something very usefull
Unfortunately, this feature is no more available in CM9 ROM (RC2)...
PDroid is an alternative which is very powerfull, but the install is touchy (Botbrew...)
Has somebody already tested to install Pdroid on CM9 RC2 for I9300?

I have used the Pdroid Auto Patcher http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719408 for CM & AO roms and successfully patched CM9 RC2.
However as to whether it works on the device I don't know, using Omega rom at the moment.
See no reason it wouldn't work for you. It doesn't use Botbrew though.

CM6 is a Froyo rom and the only roms we have that are froyo are either CM or CM based or with CM stuff already in them. As far as adding them to Eclair roms I'm not sure if they would work, but feel free to test and tune

how bout cm5
Is it possible to take the latest CyanogenMod Settings and put it on Froyo Rom so that I can have all the features (I have the Elelinux special edition) like Battery percentage in the Topbar or customizing the colors, integrated SetCPU and so on?
Edit: This is for hero, but I figured, I do not need to open a separate Topic as its essentially the same question.

I doubt it, but if you try it before anyone else does, you can let us know if it works or doesn't.

[Q] Custom ROM with working wifi direct?

Hi.
Can anyone please advise which (if any?) of the custom roms have a working wifi direct capability?
The ones I've tested (CM9, CheckRom, AOKP, Omega, Criskelo, DragonICS are all able to receive wifi direct files, but unable to send.
Much appreciated.
works on my i9300. i can send and recieve thru wifi direct. im running omega v7.
Thanks!
You use Toolkit V2 to root/CFW/flash?
Only rom I get to work so far with wifi direct is Stock.
Off topic any way to uninstall bloatware using an apk uninstaller pls?

I used chainfire's kernel thru pc odin and installed busybox thru play store. you can find it under the android development thread. then installed omega thru cwm recovery. as for the bloatware, i just go into /system/app and manually delete them.
Steps to make wifi direct work on omega 7.1? I'm also using phenomenal 1.0 kernel

im on omega 7.0 not omega 7.1. haven't had a chance to flash that yet...
start with a stock rom and root with chainfire's kernel, install busybox thru play store, then flash omega thru cwm recovery
here's the link to chainfire's kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
Fyi, I just flashed omega v7.1 and wifi direct is working as well.

[Q] AOKP / CM Based Rom and CM10 Theme

Good Morning,
I have looked around and am having a hard time finding an answer to this. Specifically, I have the DNA and a CM10 theme that I want to use. My understanding after research is that in order to use the Theme Manager you must have a ROM that was compiled with Theme Manager support?
If so, does anyone know of a ROM for the DNA that has Theme Manager support? Is it just a matter of finding a ROM that supports it? Im currently using Team Viper's ROM. Long story short, I want to use this theme: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mac.theme.Alloy.Red on my DNA.
Thanks!
You need to be running CM10.1 to use a CM10.1 theme

Did you forget to check the section labeled "Original Development"? There is a thread for CM10.1 in the top 5 or 6 threads. It isn't stable, but it's there.
I didn't forget, it's just not usable at this point. There is no voice support, play store support, etc. I was curious if there were any CM10 based ROMs. Also, someone told me that AOKP based ROMs support CM10 themes, do you know if that's true?

Theme Manager themes will work with any AOSP rom that has Theme Manager support. AOKP and CM builds with that built in will support those downloaded themes.
If there were any fully functional CM10.x/AOKP roms, they would be among the top threads in the Original sub-forum. You're not missing anything. CM10 is being worked on, but will take time. Once that's finished, it will have Theme Manager, I'm assuming.
Thanks mad, I never fully understood that. So AOSP has the ability, at compile, to support Theme Manager. Both AOKP and CM typically choose to include this, and are build from AOSP code. Does that sound about right? Either way, I will just have to wait for either an AOKP or CM build with Theme Manager support?
Thanks again for all the help, and sorry.

Yes but not purely default AOSP.
The thememanager was made by the CM team is is baiscally incorporated into any AOSP rom that isn't OTA because why not.

Have you try PAC rom? Your PA mean Paranoid Android, right? It's source is based on CM so it has most CM features, include some feature from AOKP & PA. And if you don't like PAC UI you can adjust it in PA Preference. I don't see any difference between CM10.2 and PAC but additional features (and may be some bugs, but I haven't got one yet)
Use a xposed module known as xfloating app or something like that it works well

[Q] Change screen colors on CM 10.2

Hey, first of all thanks alot for all the development and crazy amount of information going on in here
I have searched but unfortunately I couldn't find a solution to my problem so I'm asking here. I recently installed official Cyanogenmod 10.2 stable release on my i9300 international S3 (since CM11 gave me some bugs) and it's pretty great so far, but I've been searching a way to change the color settings of the screen. On CM there are some built in ones but I don't really like those. On the 4.3 Stock Samsung ROM there was "Professional Photo" or something like that that I did like. Does anyone know what I can do? If I understood correctly kernels can do that sort of stuff but I didn't find a kernel to suit my needs.
Thanks in advance

Yes you understood it correctly If your Planning to run a ROM based on CM Screen modes like Dynamic, Professional Photo etc Are available only through custom Kernel.
In Sammy as v all know you can change it under settings but for CM unfortunately you have to stick to Kernel Settings to do that.
Almost All popular Kernels Have that option under Screen>MDNIE mode
All you have to do is select the right kernel
Unfortunatly You asked a Question in this Thread and Also Gave an answer for the same.
Just remeber that for CM ul have to stick to some Externel Kernel as these options wont be available with stock CM 10.2 Kernel as well
Just as a recommendation give GoogyMax , Boeffla, Agni a try as these gave me really good results(Special Thx to Dev's of the same )

Thanks for the reply
I've looked into GoogyMax and Boeffla but as far as I could tell they don't support color changing. If I do install them what can I do to change the colors?
And I have yet to install a kernel, does it come in a zip file that I can install in CWM?

Wrong GoogyMax supports it . Give it a try .

Another question, say I install the kernel and I want to update to CM11 or flash a Samsung based ROM. I need to first flash a new kernel and then install the ROM? Where can I download the stock CM kernel?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/gps-cm-10-2-i9300-t2667873
I'm really frustrated because I like vanilla android and CM is just so much faster than TouchWiz (I'm no won Android Revolution HD 40.0), I switched just because of the GPS issue but I really don't want it as my daily driver.. Maybe a different AOSP based ROM you know that the GPS would work in?

Strange To hear that. Well ive never used Stock CM so cant Comment on that GPS issue.
As Far As Now the AOSP or AOKP Roms ive used have never Had this GPS issue. You Can Try Anyone From Below Thread (CM 10.2/1)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/10-04-index-roms-t2218825
For me i would have chosen between PACMAN PARANOID n SLIMBEAN . All are great for Daily use
Also Check out This ROM. MY personal favourite Amongst All. Bug Free and Stable , Archidroid but its KK
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-archidroid-v2-3-3-power-hands-t2354859
Yes CM is definately Smoother than TouchWIz( Thx to Free RAM ). But Try out the ArchiDroid Stock Sammy ROM. You Might Like it for its smoothness
Rom recommendations are not allowed on xda. You have to try out and search for which rom suits u the best same goes with kernels
