Hello Guys
My Mini Pro(sk17) is rooted and i´m using MESA Kernel(Smartass V2), i´m on stock I.C.S
I noticed that Android System is about 40, 45% on battery drain.
I´ve read a lot of things, added some lines at build.prop, but no sucess... its still about 40. 45% of my battery drain.
I´m already using 2g, screen bright very low.
I remember i checked that before flashing MESA that the android system did not drained battery like this....
Is this normal? Is there anything i can do?
I dont use any task killer, my CPU is set to 134mhz to 896MHZ( so is underclocked!).
Any help?
Thank you

Ok, i´ll give it a try!

I/O Scheduler has no effect on battery life.
The problem - ICS. In the ROM, there is a bug, after charging via AC(wall charger), phone's Android System uses a lot of battery. Why? It's a bug in the ROM, that we haven't found.
How to fix it? Restart after charging.
And there is already a topic about it. Use Search next time before making new topic.

Try setting your minimum CPU freq to 250MHz. It actually uses way less juice then 134MHz!
EDiT: regarding what someguyfromhell said.....
I've never experienced bigger batt drain when charged AC as opposed via USB?
I'll try to reproduce that effect though...
Hi again,
i tried that Someguyfromhell said and the same thing keeps going.... 45% of android system!!!!!!
any other advice?

Have you tried setting minimum freq to 250mhz, and changing CPU governor?
That should do it.
If not, try another kernel.

Dude,
Good sir, i kindly reccomend you should change from Man Eating Seals Of Antiquity (M.E.S.A.) and switch roms, experiment, play around, you will never get good results just by asking around, you need to figure out your own way of making battery last longer.
I miself am now trying out CM10 alpha for my Sk17i
Good luck

i agree with u my frnd...trying different kernals and roms you can come to which rom and kernal is stable according to you and which has the less battery drain..i suggest u experiment these things.. instead of asking others..

Changing kernel, governor and frequencies, now my battery last charge was on sunday night, and still got plenty battery for today.
I use kamarush v2 kernel, and it is the best kernel for me.
I used v3, but it is not as good like v2.
Hope, the kernel will goes to higher level, like in X10mp

Im using Thjap kernel right now, V3.8 TEAM rom. Before that im using woflbreak V5 with thjap and doomlord kernel too.
Both rom i encounter some self-reboot, especially when i execute high power or performance hungry Apps such as like video recording and playing some games, even my freq was not above 994mhz.
So im come out with a theory that may be my battery and my motherboard do not support low voltage freq, so i wondering any pro can give me some advice?
If it is cause by low voltage problem, i would like to change it back to normal voltage, can anyone give me a <<dummy>> tutorial to change it? I would like to go for thjap or doomlord than Zkernel since thjap and doomlord kernel are more mature than Zmod.
Many thanks for the one who answer my question.

To try and fix the reboots go to

Just contact with My_Immortal yesterday, we share many thoughts about the issue.
My latest discovery that it might not necessarily motherboard defect suggest by her theory.
yesterday i flashing the brand new TFT official stock rom with stock kernel, it still happend the reboot of dead. I'm shock that time, and thinking may be Immortal are right.
However i recall some memory that whe i connect to the AC dock, performance and stability were quite good, no reboot issue happend.
This morning i was able to test with custom rom with V3.8 by TEAM, running a heavy game (Guns and glory) test with AC power connected, it seems like the reboot of dead vanish, plus when i heavy use my phone the battery drop with very unhealthy rate, 5-10 minute of game play already consume more than 15 % -20% battery life.
Therefore i conclude it is the power supply problem, and it should be my battery getting old for torture.
Can any one tell me why android OS is draining my battery so easly? I just charge my phone to 98%, then i went for sleep and awake at morning and saw my battery was on 56% it happening with me from last 2 days. I dont know whats wrong. it never happend with me on GB.
I read alots of thread abt this problem but couldn't get any solution for this..... so guys help me out..:'(

Keep your phone locked for sometime, maybe half an hour, don't use your phone.. Then check the Battery history details and see if the phone's awake even when the screen's off.
Problem with all ICS ROMs.
Restart after charging via wall charger, then it doesn't happen.

No, it is not the kernel. It is a bug in the ROM, that hasn't been found or fixed yet. Restarting resets certain phone data.

It has happened always since ICS update for me, with all ICS ROMs I have used, with all ICS kernels I have used.
Restarting does the deal. I restart my phone every morning anyway, to clean up the memory/CPU, so phone will be faster.
It dosent happen with stock extended kernel..earlier it happened to me when I switched to krsh kernel aftet that I flashed extended kernel and and install custom rom like rs lite. With wipe data and format and this bug dissapeared..then it never came back
Hope it helps

In my experience so far concerning battery life, the kernel plays a huge role.
Stock kernel is a big drainer. Rage kernel is very good with battery life, as is KRsH kernel.
Flash a custom kernel, and set CPU governor to smartassv2, svagedzen or brazilianwax. Those 3 are in my experience the best.

Thought so.. that it was related to the Kernel.. I'm on extended stock kernel now and the battery life isn't as bad as stock ICS. Although I really haven't kept track of the exact battery life on this kernel, but it's certainly better than Stock ICS.

I've had similar problems when my usb port got burnt, and battery indicator constantly kept showing 'charging' icon, even thought cable was unplugged. Apparently some process/service (related to USB connectivity) prevented OS to go to sleep, and that kept draining the battery... Thanks to warranty, phone got fixed, and since i havent experienced any battery drain. Last time i checked, i got up to 3 days without recharging the battery

let the ROM settle, 2 or 3 battery cycle.
installs BBS, cpu spy and gsam battery monitor
check which app is consuming more battery
if it is media scanner, there is rescan media apk available to disable it.
calibrate the battery and monitor it.

I`m able to fix my problem. Connected my phone to my PC and it is repaired to me. It was take around 1 hour to check and fix. After that I`m able to format over windows and now everything is working perfectly.
It's about the memory
I had the same problem with my S2 , it was getting hot and the battery life was shorter than norma, i has so little free memory on phone memory,so i deleted some apks and created some free space and the problem solved,my phone returned to it's normal state.i think that was the reason so check this out if it works. :good:

Are you using the STOCK ROM ?
and WHICH ONE ?
i have the same problem and havent found a solution yet
Many users of CM9 FXP roms have reported a battery drain. I have submitted a bug report but it's been marked as invalid so we are not going to get support from FXP.
My suggestion is to really try and find out our selves why this is happening.
The battery drain is happening when the screen is off and the device should be asleep, it can drain up to 10% battery an hour. It doesn't happen in airplane mode.
If you have the battery drain issue please help us out by providing information here: battery stats, betterbatterystats, apps installed that could possibly be draining battery or preventing phone from sleeping, info about your carrier, other bugs you might have.
Please don't post here if you are using a modified version of the rom or kernel and if you haven't tried e full wipe.
R: XPERIA U - Battery drain with FXP roms
To "Greenify" apps is not a real solution(and btw doesn't even work for me) because we don't need to do this with the same apps installed on stock rom or older versions of FXP.
FXP did suggest in the comment that it might also be related to carrier so let's look into that.
I suggest trying to turn off "fast dormancy".
You'll find info about fd here http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-international/674208-fast-dormancy-in-nutshell.html
PS. I don't know how to disable fd on this device so if you find out how to do it let me know!
The phone seldom goes to sleep if the data is on. There is something about the data that keeps the phone awake all the time (not the case with WiFi).
Ha ve you tried to reboot your phone just after you disconnect the device from the battery charger?
Sometimes I've noticed that the battery drai was very fast, just after a full charge, and then, after a reboot, the battery drain returns normal.
R: XPERIA U - Battery drain with FXP roms
Ok, I've been testing battery drain with just wifi on. I've hibernated every app with Greenify one by one. After many tests I noticed that hibernating "Google Play Music" stops the drain when on wifi.
Tomorrow I'll test data and see if it's the same.
It's strange since the same app doesn't seem to cause this issue on stock rom or on other devices.
But I still have to test data so don't draw any conclusions yet.

Battery consumption is another issue, I'm talking about the battery drain that happens when you don't even use the phone.
For your issue check that the min CPU frequency on performance settings is 200, sometimes it's set on 1000 by mistake.

Ok, I've read the post and it makes sense, I'm not a developer but I seem understand that this elf. 3 is kind of misterous and it's needed to avoid battery drain. But FXP doesn't seem to agree.
A solution would be for someone to compile a kernel with elf.3, we can test it and see if battery drain dissappears!
This is strange, I just made few changes, and yesterday my battery lasted 13h with 5-and-a-half hours of screen on, better performance than in stock Rom...

I did not plug off the phone from the charger until the status in settings>about phone>status>battery status changed from charging to charged, and in the SlimCM Rom I use there is a little bug with the CPU frequencies. First I would check if the phone is sleeping properly, which is not always the case with MiniCM10. If you turn off the screen it should go to sleep in about 10 seconds, and if you press the back-button when it's asleep it won't turn on the screen. If the menu- or back-buttons do turn on the screen then it's a sleep problem. Try disabling running services (everything apart from settings and keyboard should have no adverse effect on the running of the phone). If that doesn't help maybe wiping everything and re-installing the ROM could fix it.

No, i didn't tried.. But if i understand the wikipedia-article concerning undervolting correct, it can force errors? I'm not sure if i want my handy to make calculating-errors...
@SmG67, I'll check this tomorrow, when i have to leave my phone without the possibility to charge it again for the whole day..
@both of you: Thanks for the quick answers

No error, maybe reboots if you use undervolt with overclocked cpu frequencies

The processor won't be undervolted on anything above 604 Mhz, only on frequences lower than that. The undervolt module doesn't use unstable voltages anymore, the only trade-off is that stepping up through the frequencies takes a bit longer because the voltage needs to be ramped up too, making the phone slightly slower. So there is not really any harm in enabling it.
