Google Now - HTC Amaze 4G

So I've seen a post asking how we can google now on the amaze...and apparently we need to wait till source code is released or something?
There wasn't really a much clear answer to it so I'd like to ask; what's stopping the amaze currently from having Google Now? Shouldn't it have been included with the leak we got?

Didn't know much about Google Now, so I googled it. This is what I found. (I apologize if it's already been posted)

It works on my amaze, no reboot required. Just follow the instructions to rename and install apk.

I can verify that it works but very buggy. I'm running Speed Rom 6.

I believe so. I'm running ARHD which is basically stock sense with some tweaks and it runs fine on my device. Click here for the link. It seems they've updated it to include the voice search functions. I'm gonna try that out!

mostly works from what ive seen with my stock rooted, being not in america it has issues with location stuff unless thats been changed in the last version that got released?
ps. someone posted this in the amaze apps forum, a ways back. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755584

Absolutely does. I have stock 4.0.3, Sense 3.6, rooted, and Google Now is working. I installed it yesterday afternoon. It actually viewed my Google Maps searches from earlier in the day (I was logged into my Google account while searching) and it started giving me traffic and weather for trips to those locations. It's still collating data, as it didn't give me weather and traffic to work this morning, but the instructions say that most functions take a few days, at least. I can already tell it's going to be an invaluable resource. (Screenshot is of the bus system around my building)
As a test of both the cards and the basic functionality, I decided to look up the distance from the Earth to the Sun. (The Astronomical Unit). I wanted to see how similar the search function is, and if it'll start giving me cards based upon my searches.
FYI: I wasn't able to just install the .apk file - I had to rename it like the instructions suggest.

Thanks for all the replies and sorry for posting in the wrong board.
I downloaded this but I have to say (yes I know everything won't work from day one) I am impressed, but my problem is that I want the voice search. That's what I was looking forward to the most. Does anyone know what exactly you need to do to get the full JB voice search done?

Old Market APK

I know some have asked, and I've been trying to go back also. Here is an old market apk if you would like to revert. Found it after a little bit of digging. I installed it right over my newer and it was fine. Once you install this, remember to rename the marketupdater.apk to marketupdater.apk.bak (just for an example), or you can delete it completely if you wish. (Wouldn't recommend that tho) This market will not check for the density of the screen AND when you search for an app, you will actually be able to see all the results. Until Google fixes the new one, I'm staying with this one. If you can't get it to install over your current one, go into /system/apps and delete the vending apk and put this one in there. If this has already been posted somewhere, forgive me. Didn't see it. And if you need any help, feel free to pm me or on gtalk and we'll get it working one way or another.

No problem. Glad I could help. I prefer this one over the new one for now. I can find a lot of different stuff that I could't.
Epic, Jay.
The "no density check" thing is absolutely a humongous deal.
Q: Will the Chainfire "fix market" hack work with this version, or have you tried?
Edit: this is the kind of thing that too many Android users don't know about. My suggestion to you would be to spread this hack around, and not just limit it to tbe Evo3d forums.. There are a jillion users with other devices that could absolutely benefit from this.
Just my 2 cents.
Re-edit: See, I followed your instructions in the OP, and it worked perfectly on my "Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic Touch 4G from Sprint", (or whatever silly name they're calling this phone today.) Thanks again.
Thanks man! Hate the new market :/

Maybe I'll copy and paste the O.P. and put it somewhere else too. I've seen one in the games and apps section, but I don't think it's this version. Actually its another hacked version that I can remember. I think this one is much better.

Google Now Search

Does anyone think we can port the Google Now voice assistance search from jellybean to our not? Will google release it as in app in the market for ICS or will it need to be ported?

I think it is likely we will be able to use it on ICS cause most of their apps are compatible with most Android devices. I am 100% sure it will be a market app like all other google app so it can be updated easily.
It will be released on on the Play Store as an app soon..

I tried it on myu note with AOSPxXx v0.5A.
Although it worked, it was flaky and it drains so much battery. I also encounter a lot of FCs.
Also no voice search so I'll wait a little bit more. Hopefully they could make it work nice with ICS

Cards are there, voice doesn't seem to want to work together with Google Now in CM9 Hybrid Paranoid ROM.
Are the cards supposed to show up on the desktop in a widget like format? Or you can only see the cards via accessing Google Now?

Don't input your password there, whatsoever,
It'll probably steal it.
Check your system/app for unknown apps.
It's a stock blur rom on a droid 4. 90% of the apps are unknown to me lol. Anything more specific?
Sent from my DROID4 using xda app-developers app
Sorted it by date, nothing newer than april 12, which seems about the time i did a system update.
Sent from my DROID4 using xda app-developers app
I've seen this a couple times today, and so have a few others in the forums. It definitely doesn't seem device/ROM specific. I was thinking the same thing: "hope I'm not being hacked" lol.
This reminds me of a month or two ago, when I got a popup saying someone suspicious had tried to access my Google acct., but Google denied the login. That was different tho, because I myself was locked out of my acct. until I logged in on a pc and sorted it out/changed my password.

Moving to Q&A
I would install pdroidand try to determine which app is asking for the password.
From there you should be able to determine whether it's legit or not.
I also recommend you install Droid Wall and see if any rogue app is trying to connect out to the internet.
I can't post any links yet but both are available from Play Store.
From pdroid's thread at xda:
" Will only work with deodexed ROMs (take a look into your ROM's system/framework directory; if there are any *.odex files, your ROM is NOT deodexed)"
And apparently the stock rom on droid 4 is not deodexed.
It's a shame though, pdroid looks fantastic. I'll give droidwall a spin and see what i find. I haven't got any notifications since last night though.
Sent from my DROID4 using xda app-developers app
Too bad.
Give Droidwall a spin and see if you notice any suspicious connections. At least that should help you narrow down the list of potential suspect apps.
If you have the time and inclination I would flash another ROM and install Pdroid too. This is specially true if privacy is a big concern for you.
Good luck.

I think what he meant was, how it it functional without voice search? Do you type in all of the questions? Also, what specifically "works"? Does it pull information from your past searches and automatically give you relevant information, or does it just load blank cards?
Isn't there a port for the 4.1 kernel for ICS already? Might help.

At the moment voice does not work ... It fails from the posts I have been reading they say it's a kernel thing so it may never work on ics unless we get a jb kernel. All searching must be typed but your answers are populated neatly in one spot ... A while ago it was showing weather nd stuff but I don't know if that stoped working.
Edit... Also sometimes the server seems slow.

That's the only thing about the XDA website I don't like - don't get me wrong, I think it's great - but whenever I want to really dig I into something and the answer is not quickly apparent then I am stuck looking all over or risk getting flamed like you are. Yes, it is a pain but it's an issue that appears to have no answer so you just have to go through the pain of looking forever to find what you want. Probably makes people scared to ask a question, because they have to look all over the place to ensure nobody ever gave an answer to their question. Ugh!
