Just doing a poll here to help new GS2 users decide what rom they will choose as well as converting users like me to newer roms.
So have a vote, what rom do you use on your Galaxy S II and go on don't be lazy tell us why you like it so much and how its different from everything else out there.
Im on Darky Rom2, My friend has Darky's on his SGS I and so when i got my SGS II i thought I would take a peak, I find it stable and smooth, but lacking in features other roms have
Stock just working brilliant with good battery live and very very stable

Oh don't get me wrong I love it otherwise I would of swapped, but with some other roms you get theme chooser, Callrec and a few other intergrated things that aren't available in Darky's, doesnt make it a bad rom though.
CM7, because it's one of 2 ROM's that supports the PS3 controller. All the other ROM's will eventually nick parts of it anyway so I may as well get the features direct from the source.
Stock, rooted.
Debating something different, but want to be armed with more knowledge first. Most important criteria for me are: battery life, stability, ALL phone functionality retained, and lastly aesthetics, something about blue system colours sings to me.
I'm on cockrom v8.2. I like it because it's hardcore.
Thanks for the helpful thread btw, really original.
Sensation rom because its beautiful. However I do find stock is most stable.
I'm very happy with the performance and stability of the stock ROM, more than I ever imagined. TouchWiz 4.0 is actually very, very fast, IMO.
I've tried other launchers... even paid versions... and I still think that TW performs wonderfully fast and fluidly on the Galaxy S II. It seems that Samsung really did something right here. So, while I love the fact that the devs are always working on new stuff, I'll trade stability for the bleeding edge these days.
My 2 cents.
Cognition 1.5.1 - fast, stable and battery-friendly.
Miui for me at the moment, fantastic ROM. However with the BT not working I will probably be going back to stock until thats fixed. Really need BT to work.

I'm using cognition 1.5.1, I like this rom the most because its decent on battery life, stable, and stock looking, besides the added power menu (reboot, download, and recovery), and added drop down menu allows for data on/off.
I am using check rom v2....and the battery life and stability is excellent so far. The dev answers all questions, and after trying ALL the others available, i find this is my personal favourite.
The full screen contact pictures when making a call are great and checks ram script make this a wonderfully smooth rom.....i recommend to anyone.
Surprised to see that u dont have gingermod rom listed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220283
Its the best of both worlds. Has the ASOP looks and u can add any stock feature that u want.
I am an asop rom person and with this rom there are no deficiencies.
Cognition here as well: close to stock with all the right mods to make it a smooth and battery friendly experience. I also enjoyed using Sensation very much.
Have been using Cognition since I got my sgs2 and it is wonderful rom. Like the above poster has said it is close to stock and better.
Hi. first of all I just want to say that I'm a big admirer of XDA forums I've been following the forums for quite some time on various phones but I'm not very active in posts / replies due to my inexperience.
I'm sick of AT&T taking forever to give us ICS and I'm not willing to wait just to get a whole bunch of bloatware and the same old touchwiz. I've come across two good roms: Onlyone and Objection. I'm kind of leaning towards Objection because It's giving me two UI options: Android 4 and the new Touchwiz, but from the replies I got the impression that Onlyone is more stable. Are there any ROMS that use the official ICS code released by Samsung or not yet?
Here are my main concerns: battery life, ROM stability and speed, and of course the good additions like updated touchwiz, S-voice, etc.
Try them all and see which you like best. Nobody can tell you which is best, because that is purely opinion based. There aren't that many, so just learn how to use titanium backup so switching between roms doesn't take too long.

If you prefer the unmodified, pure Android experience that you would get on a Nexus device, you can come close with a CyanogenMod based ROM. These are my personal favorites as they are practically bloat-free and don't have any carrier/manufacturer customizations. The downside on the Note is that there is no S-Note/S-Memo. Hopefully the CM devs will get these apps to work eventually, but the S-Pen does work.
If you like the TouchWiz interface then try one of the TW/ICS leak based ROMs such as OnlyOne. That was the first ICS ROM I tried and I liked it, but overall I prefer CM9.
you can try those ROMs from this guy - flappjaxxx. They are the unofficial CM9 ROM and UCLE2 stock-base ROM. They are really solid, stable, daily drivers and supported well by the awesome developer. These roms get very good comments from XDA-users.
I've tried every single rom.
for CM9- I'd use Mesosphere the rest were pretty unstable.
For Ucle2 + S-pen functionality i'd use FJ's Build. Onlyone was laggy for me.

This is like asking what beer should I drink or who is the best Golden Girl. Everyone is going to have different answers and you really need to try some and find your favorite.
That being said I am a big fan of flappjaxxx's UCLE2 rom.
My recommendation is to go with the Unofficial build of CM9 by h0tw1r3.
Nothing beats the cleanliness of AOSP, and the added features that Cyanogen throws in are well worth it.
I have been running it since he released the first build and it is extremely stable. And thanks to CalcProgrammer1, it was just updated and we may even see nightly builds.

My sister has a s2. I was telling her about the soon to be out jelly bean update and about the system memory shrinkage of 1 GB. So its basically her question that is it really to flash or let the ics do its work? Well me for my note is dying for the official JB. For now 4.0.4 is rocking my phone.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Well, if you're rooted and can do a Nandroid, do it.
Do a Nandroid backup of your current state and flash JB for a test run.
Let the user judge the worthiness.
If the user thinks its not worthy, restore the Nandroid backup.
arilyag 500
i'd say it really depends on the phone...
best to make a nandroid backup before upgrading.
i've gone to JB twice (ParanoidAndroid and Neatrom) but went back to ICS
PURELY for the reason that i wasnt able to get good deep sleep on JB but there are many people who have no issues with this.
There were a few system related apps where I just prefered the ICS versions as well so i wouldnt say its specifically JB related.
I never had any issues running Neatrom 4.0 and PA on JB on my S2, i usually remove all bloatware and replace launcher with apex so everything seems quick to me
As all custom rom have bugs because of sources not available but stock jb will be bug free and should have deep sleep/good battery backup. So i think its fully worthy...
-more battery drain
-more features
-not much modded kernels ready yet
-it's jb, and really much smoother
-some bugs, but in everyday use really hard to spot them
Galaxy note
I would galaxy note n note2 are best to enjoy JB. N features like ripple lock with ink effect n specially videos n multi window on an huge screen.
If u feel note2 is expensive note1 is another real good option n buyable tooo..
Try the leaked xxlsj, it's very fast and the only issues I've been having are battery drain when browsing web and lock screen lag. It brings lots of enhancements to ics!
Well thanks for the help. A backup would be a good solution before taking the risk.
Lets see JB responds on it. But what about the 1 gb sacrifice for the system apps can we repatition it???

I love our somewhat reliable/stable JB ROMS (thank you, XDA Devs!!) But losing stock Note functionality with S-Pen (double-tap for S-Memo, press and hold for screen capture, Photo Editor) always kept me running back to stock Touch Wiz. I was a flash-ahloic til something I did broke GPS and made it unusable. So I Odin-ed back to stock and still couldn't get GPS working. Eventually, I took my Note to the AT&T Device Support Center and they flashed the most current Samsung Firmware and I'm good to go. I've been Stock, non-rooted for 28 days, 11 hours and minutes LOL.
So I've resisted even rooting my Note at this point. Just been playing around with different launchers and widgets. It's still fun just customizing the Note to my liking. But I found that lags and freezing still even happen on Stock non-rooted, things I used to blame on any particular ROM I'd flashed.
Now the flash addiction is creeping up on me...

Just an update:
So I ended up flashing Jellybam and what a joy that ROM was! So many customization options and it just ran smooth. That is until I got a Random Reboot.
So then I flashed Paranoidandroid, put on LMT and found that it didn't work as well as I'd hoped as a replacement for Swipe Pad. Anyway, I proceeded to customize it to make it my daily driver when RR strikes 4xs in an hour.
At this point, I go running back to ICS: Novena. I dig the boot animation and that ROM has always been solid for me. And of course everything performs flawlessly: no RRs and great battery life.
But am I content? LOL
Lurking in the Blackstar Dev thread, I read about the combination of X and Flappjaxx ICS 3.0.2 kernel.
Getting to the point of this post:
That combination is AMAZING! And not in the hyperbolic sense. TRULY AMAZING!
This feels as fast as any JB ROM I've tried. Tho I'm not OC/UV, I'm only using Wheatley and battery life is PHENOMENAL!
So I'm still enjoying my "OG" Note and glad that we have a sharing community in XDA forums and gifted dev support, but if we never get any new ROMS for the lack of a source JB kernel from Samsung, I'm now on my Daily Driver.
Holla back if this combo works for you too.

Hi
I am having a USC NOTE II
As the development is 0 here at XDA for USC version, I am thinking about using a
VERIZON version of latest stock debloated, deodexed, zipaligned, with initd tweaks , and other optimizations.
We can use VZN or sprint Roms on our NOTE II by flashing a Converter after the ROM flash.
plz suggest the ROM based on the latest Build
( will also post at the sprint forums as well )
god bless
I would suggest reading up on the options in the Development section...there are a ton of choices. You can choose between Touchwiz based or AOSP roms depending on your needs (and how much you like the Touchwiz features). I personally have stuck with TW and have been using Beans from Build 6 on. Jedi looks interesting so I may try that one soon. If you the the latest build (4.2.2) check out the original android dev section, but read carefully as I think there are still some issues with bluetooth on that build and it takes some work to come back to 4.1.1.
Scott just released CleanROM ACE 4.6 a few hours ago. It's stock, optimized, debloated, and the latest. There you go lol
Thanks guys.
About TW well I didn't like it one bit till jb arrived and really now I just love the touch wiz interface more than anything at all. Its so refreshing and so good looking in my view ( no offence to no intended )

Yeah, TouchWiz on ICS and even Gingerbread sucked some donkey you-know-what. Just you wait till we get a leaked 4.2.2 build!
Edit: I'm going to flash CleanROM ACE 4.6 too.
Guyz is there any other Rom based on latest Stock version and is totally debloated, stock looking and optimized for netter performance and battery.?
regards

This. I'm over aosp roms. Beans TW rom is the best imho for this phone. Sure I love other roms like Eclipse by Scott/Nitro but for the stock debloated feature full rom....beans is where it's at.

I suggest beans too, but it's not really stock looking, it looks more like aosp, with full stock functionality. I prefer it to stock but just not sure if that's what you're looking for. The only thing with using Scott's(Scrolser's) latest ROM's is they are based on the international(which may be ok with you) but people have issues getting GPS without flashing a stock/VZW and getting a lock first. VRALL4 is the latest stock VZW base. I'd suggest maybe using the Clean ROM VZW edition.
