Q> Flashing doomkernel for KA10 xperiasspeed - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

I Just want to ask what they mean in krabappels thread on dev section
about "Flash doomlords kernel first to make aroma installer work"
doomlords kernel is for GB right? how can I make it work for ICS?
can't post in the dev section because I'm new here

You don't have to. I flashed it over ics11 kernel.
It worked fine for the second time...

Aroma Installer is needed to install the ROM. So that means while you're on stock ics, flash any DoomKernel because it will install Aroma along with the kernel, and of course, you're device will have a bootloop because you're on ICS but that's not a problem you can still access recovery then and install the desired kernel for ICS, then after that you can flash the ROM. You can try first the method above before trying this.

Yes, let's flash doomkernel and then ics11 kernel and then the official firmware and then smash it on a rock.
Or just flash ics11 and then boot to recovery and wipe all data - factory reset, and then install the zip from sd card.
I already said it works fine, why complicate things???

I think it doesn't matter. Should work.
But I really prefer ics11, because there have been so many versions (11:victory,
that you can't go wrong.
And I had v2, didn't love it as much.

The error is probably with the rom and not with the kernel, because with the stock rom works perfectly...
After flashing this kernel my neo v gets rooted on .62 stock ROM ....
but will this rooted ROM work if i change the kernel to something else like nightelf stock kernel .... ???
or have anyone tested it yet ???

Root privileges are integrated in this kernel. So you will not stay rooted almost for sure, if you flash another kernel which is not prerooted...

You will be able to update normally to ICS using PC companion, but to be ablolutely sure, you better relock your bootloader before the update...
@bbooff: few days ago I flashed ICS beta from sony page, and I used your kernel for hot boot just so I can install zip with superuser stuff.
Today I flashed stock .62fw, and wanted to hot boot with your kernel, but no luck, I needed to flash it in order to boot into CWM.
You got any idea why id did cooperate on ICS and not on clean .62
Also I couldn't do factory reset while I was using your kernel. I guess that is kinda normal as it's not stock kernel, but still I thought it should work

I have no idea!
The opposite is what should had happened.
I think that if you reinstall 0.62 (using flashtool and not wotan) and then my kernel, everything will be o.k.
If you install a custom kernel, you can do a factory reset through the cwm menu.

Actually I did used flashtool.
After I flash your kernel I can enter cwm. problem is if I try hot boot it.
and about factory reset, I know we can do it via recovery, but is it normal that we can't do it from phone?

fastboot boot boot.img
it allows you to boot with kernel without flashing it.
your kernel is very good.... simple and easy... helped me restore my phone back...
But now i am facing one more problem...
whenever I try to install any other kernel through fastboot, that kernel does not work; instead your kernel starts booting up...
Can you please throw some light on it?

What going wrong on the flashing with custom rom, we have root, bootloader unlocked, the flash of the kernel is smooth so the flash of the rom (CWM don't report any error), but something going wrong, because after i reboot the phone after i flash the rom the NEO is stucked with loading Sony boot logo for very long time (I left my phone in this status for almost 30 min, and nothing happened). So Anyone can help us? Or is just our phone?

OK.
1st. Any roms starting max 5 minutes.!!!
If dont...then is problem in "kernel" or rom itself.
Something is wrong in updater script or build.prop
Or maybe something is wrong in my recovery? I use CWM, i install it with following the instructions in this thread

WIPE the stuff(system, data, cache, dalvik cache, whatever its written in ROM's first post) before flashing new ROM in zip.
In this case, most likely you didn't wipe/format system partition.
I follow the tips of kormatoes and integrated with the instrucions od madfish and everything is going fine, but there were some problems with that kernel, you kormatoes suggest me, so I tried to opt for the MT15i kernel, and its worked too.
Now I'm trying to install the KA05 Ice Cream Sony ROM, they say its the best custom rom based on ICS for Sony Xperia NEo. If something going wrong can you be at my side?

This tread should be in Q&A not in DEV.
Anyway do U have bootloader unlocked?
That rom is a 2.3 rom and you need to have and unlocked bootloader. You need to have 2.3 on your device first which would you would find in my signature below. So skip through the tread and find 2.3 Download it and flash it and try the rom again.
Sent from my X10i
Dude u r in 2.1 now. It has a baseband of .49 or .54. GB needs a baseband of .71. So the only option is first u download a pre-rooted firmware image and flash it via flashtool. U will boot into GB. Then unlock bootloader using Laser's method and install custom kernel like DoomKernel.
Follow this method
[RECOVERY image] {v2} X10 GB 3.0.1.G.0.75 [Prerooted + Fixed xRecovery] to insatll the prerooted firmware using flashtool.
Unlock bootloader using this steps from
[HOW-TO]UNLOCK bootloader for X10
Then flash DoomKernel from this link
[KERNEL][X10] DooMKernel [UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS]{Rel:v06}[Dt:10/Jan][FW3.0.1.G.0.75] and boot up into stock rom or the previous GB rom u r using.
For Stock based roms, DoomKernel is simply the best.
For CM7 based roms, use FXP 130 kernel provided here FXP 130 and
For CM9 based roms, use FXP 132 kernel for better performance which u can download in FXP CM9 Thread.

i will write here what i did
so other can have an easy install
thanks to brenty108 for the help
If that rom is in ftf format
Open with 7zip or winrar
Look for kernel.sin
And place it in a folder
In flashtool create kernel
Point it to the folder containing kernel.sin
You should then be able to place your created kernel into firmware folder and flash it
I haven't had much experience with those roms so it's just a suggestion

Dude u have unlocked ur bootloader. So u cant directly flash the stock image. U can only insatll a prerooted image via recovery in ur kernel. Or if u want to flash the stock image, lock ur bootloader by the tool given in flashtool and then flash the stock rom, root it, unlock bootloader again and then flash ur rom.. Stock image comes with stock kernel. it is not compatible with unlocked bootloader. unlocked bootloader requires a special file called loader.sin which is found wen u flash kernels for unlocked bootloaders.

Flash the kernel and then go to recovery and flash the rom... reboot the system and let the nsystem settle down after you set up google account and wifi... then go back to recovery install addon packs, wipe cache/dalvik and reboot... you should be ok after these... But remember dont flash wifi fix for ferakernel...

Ferakernel link

Use ferakernel for feralab roms (gingerbread roms)
doomlords kernel and wifi fix

This kernel and wifi fix can be used for X10S roms, techdevil rom, donut HD rom.. but remember flash kernel then flash rom and then flash wifi fix..
I'm attaching FXP132 kernel which you can flash for ICS roms... i found it better/easier than KCernel
I don't advice using ICS roms as they r not good for battery life... Since you r soft bricked your phone again..
Go to flahtool and flash coorect kernel for corresponding rom like ferakernel for ferarom.. doomlords kernel for X10S or techdevil..

Sola. Can I change only kernel?

Hi.
I just installed CM10, and works well, but still has some bugs. Keyboard crazy with power supply, does not switch properly between Wifi and 3G ...
I wonder if changing only the kernel of other ROM's (fastboot ... boot.img) I could try to fix it.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure, u can try... mine works well on stock ICS with deleted bloatware. try flashing stock ICS.
you can try custom kernels but only those which are compatible with cm10 u can not flash a kernel that is for another rom that is stock based or on another cm based the kernel must be for cm10 only

Speedy Sola v5 on eXperience Innovation
Hello guys,
I have a similar question, I have tried to install some kernel after the rom is installed, and after that the phone doesn't boot, I did it through fastboot with different kernels and roms, I tried with Divaksh (eXperience v2 and Innovation v1.1) rom's and with Speedy Sola v5.5 or Munjeni's v5, is this normal?, how can I only flash the kernel?
Edit: Also first I installed Speedy Sola v5.5 and later eXperience Innovation v1.1 and kernel Speedy disappeared.
Thank for your replies!

Usually rom in zip contains kernel, so if you flash rom kernel anf then rom you will end up with kernel from rom. When you fastboot lernel, be sure your bootloader is unlocked and makd kernel you downloaded is for your device and it is right fof your kind of rom, stock cyanogenmod,...
After you flash kernel over fast boot then when you start the phone go directly to clockworkmod and wipe cache and dalvik. After that reboot and it should boot.
One exception, of course, if you want use experimental kernel, flash via cwm as it contains not only kernel but even updated libs.

Also thanks for the info, I didn't know that you lost the Kernel after installing a new ROM, but I have find my problem, Speedy Sola v 5.5 doesn't work on JB ROM for the moment.
