Camera GPS tags - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, does anyone know what I have to edit to get the camera to always add GPS tags to the pictures I take?
I set the option in camera settings, but when I exit and reopen the camera, the option is ticked off. How can I make I persistent?
I'm using Dragon ICS 3.1 with CWM touch recovery.
Sent from my SGS3

Is there a third party camera app that can keep the GPS tag setting active and retain the speed of the stock camera app?
Sent from my SGS3

have you ensured you have your GPS on....but it really should prompt you if it isn't! If not then big Samsung fail!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

Yes the GPS is enabled when I open the camera app, but the option to add the tag is always off, every time. I just installed Camera Zoom which has a persistent option.

Yeah it is, got it ages ago but didn't use it much, but it's just as fast as stock. Does the job!

GPS tag always on
I agree stock app seems to be much better and always forget and sometimes have no time to switch on GPS tagging. Even Tasker doesn't help.

That won't work, as it is not possible in most cases for two applications to use the camera at the same time.

It's too easy to do this!! Just download lgCamera and tapping on flash button while in video mode you can easily turn your flash on like a torch!
What arturo said, or try mapping the action as a hold on a physical button.

[Q] Say "Cheese"???

Various reviews mentioned that you are able to use S Voice to trigger the camera shutter by saying "Cheese"
I have tried this many time in the S3 camera but can never trigger this. Is this feature removed or has anyone been able to trigger it?

Strange, I keep trying but it just will not work. So basically you just go to camera app, and then say the word right? or do you have to enable any settings for the voice to work?

I started using an app called flashlight LED genius and there is an option that allows you to shake the phone while at the lock screen to enable the flashlight. Then to turn off you simply shake again, you can set sensitivity settings and duration in case it gets turned on accidentally. I have had no issues with it accidentally turning on as of yet. Works surprisingly well.
Wow thanks for that app. useful

I still wish someone would built it into a rom or flashable add-on that would all you to long press or double-tap the home button from the lock screen to activate the camera.
Check out my tutorial on the Tmo section. Will work for you too. Use the volume up to turn on flashlight.

Doesn't work for me on Cleanrom 1.2 possibly because I'm using xposed framework.

You mean Nottach's mod? That most probably takes this function over. Now that's the trick is discovered, perhaps you can request he adds it to an update.

I actually own Nova Prime so I was excited to try this but alas it doesn't work. I'm on stock, rooted TW ROM with Nova Prime of course. No other mods, frameworks or kernels installed. Not sure why it doesn't want to work for me. Anyone else get it going?
No dice here either. Stock rooted deodexed.

Weird. Well if you guys are using Nottach's Xposed mod, he will build it in with his next update v10, and can map it to your home button.

Shake on lockscreen option works fine for a while, then stops. Problem is noted in the app description in the Play Store but no ETA on a fix is mentioned. Too bad, when it works it's nice.
Anyone know of another flashlight app that can be reliably activated from the lock screen?

I use the DashClock lockscreen widget with the DashLight extension, seems to work pretty good for me
Using an app called Torchie, just press both 'volume buttons' together to turn on/off torch anytime. It runs as a background service and just works anytime, even when screen off (if enabled from Torchie Settings). It kinda make your phone feel like a conventional battery operated torch. No root required.

I just tried it, extremely buggy. Still not pleased that this phone most likely has a compatible sensor, since it was made by Huawei, and Google claims it doesn't have compatible hardware. I would say they are just trying to keep it "pixel exclusive" as long as possible.
shame on you google, why don't you just stop updating NEXUS

I just tried it as well. Doesn't seem buggy at all tried all the different options and all worked great. However, the major caveat seems to be that you simply hold your finger on the sensor (just like you do when unlocking the phone), rather than using a gesture - which is what people were wanting to get.
Yeah, it's not perfect but a decent start. True swipe gestures would be cool, I bet somebody gets something better working.

Lucky. Sometimes it works work well, others it would hang for over 5 seconds or just not do anything at all. It didn't matter what mode I was on. It especially got flakey if I pressed the power button. Oh well, whatcha gonna do. It's a step in the right direction so that's a positive!

Yea I tried every setting in the app, it was slightly more consistent, but I was still having issues. I will wait to see if a new version comes out or some other solution to these gestures surfaces. I am on the 7.1.1 beta, that could be an issue also.
