Hi
This is probably the noobiest question.. I am new to the android scene and am clueless. My GS2 comes in today, so excited!!
So I will root it when i get it. Just wondering, is the rooting method the same for every firmware version or does it change as new firmwares come out?
And can someone PLEASE link me to a detailed root guide for the GS2. Keep i mind i am new to the android scene.
Thanks in advance guys!!
As to date, rooting works the same. You flash a pre-rooted rom, or only a rooted kernel. Until Samsung would suddenly lock their bootloaders nothing will change. Luckily Samsung likes the Android community, so they'll keep it easy for us to root.
Ok. So every time i upgrade to a new firmware.. I just use the same root guide and it will work.?
Can you point me to a detailed step by step GS2 rooting guide please?
Thanks for your help
The most easiest way would be to pick the CF-Root kernel matching your firmware/ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
And just flash that - done.
The kernel takes care of pretty much everything.
Seems complex.. but i will give it a try.
Hey guys, im sure theres a thread about this already and please dont pick on me, i just cant find it for the love of me, plus my boss is on my ass about computer time.
can someone please point me in the direction of unlocking the bootloader on a atrix that came with the official 2.3.4 update. i really hate blur and i want to install a custom rom, i have superuser and cwm installed i just need to unlock the bootloader
This thread is how I did it. Pretty painless. Make sure you read the thread before you do it though. The OTA update will soft brick your phone before you issue the unlock command. Be sure to thank the original poster.

Now I need to flash custom rom on to my rooted device with locked bootloader. How can I do it?
Can anyone please tell me the steps and links in detail?
I searched the site for this , found few links but I wanted exact steps for my device.
Could anyone please helpout?

Before installing a custom rom you need to install recovery, if you haven't installed any recovery previously. check this link to install recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364509
Here you can find the Custom Rom's for both Locked & Unlocked Boot Loader http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1450
Before trying any Rom check whether it is for Locked/Unlocked Boot Loader. Instruction for flashing that Rom will on that thread itself.

I have now understood Good morning,
you want to make your phone to factory settings or rooting. ?
Can you tell me the exact model I can get you out looking for what you need.
.....Sry for my english i com from Germany and therefore it is not the best..........
Dude rooting the device is not a big DEAL! You can just install the stockRom and root the device but IF
you want to do it without unrooting u have to learn how to deodex a stock rom then u hv to pull the root boot.img from ur custom rom and put it in the stock deodexed rom and then convert it to flashable ZIP!!!
So doing all this **** just root ur device again!!!
Hy here in the forum there are instructions on how determined you can do it best
Gesendet von meinem Xperia Arc S mit Android 4.3
I have a smartron tphone model t5511 and I've tried almost everything to root but with no luck yet.
Is possible that someone here know how and please can he share it with.
When I bought it the first thing came to my mind is in installing a custom ROM but sadly no ROM for it so now my aim is for rooting it.
Have you used Kingoroot?
What's your Android version?
Have you unlocked your bootloader?
Best of luck
Not even able to unlock bootloader
