So i too my phone off the charger this morning on my way to work ran it all day 11 hours or so it was *****ing about low battery i ignored it took a shower when i got out it was dead. so i plugged it in and 20 mins later it still won't turn on its just sitting black screen and if i hold the power button down for a LONG time almost a minute i get a battery icon with a circle progress bar that doesn't move and the screen goes black after a few seconds.. how long should i be waiting before it can be powered back on? its the first time i've ever let it die since i got it.

so every once in a while, i'd say every 4 or 5 days... i'll take my phone off the charger and start my day like normal. but on these days, (sometimes i notice and do a hard reset before all this happens) the upper half of the phone will get really warm and even if i do absolutely nothing on my phone, my battery will drain from full to dead in 3-4 hours.
has anyone else noticed this? i'm thinking it may be some sort of cpu cycle leak or some sort of infinite loop some background driver might get itself into.
its pretty annoying if i dont catch it right away and an hour after i unplug my phone while i'm at work to take my phone out of my pocket and have it over half battery gone already.

I have noticed the 'staying warm after charging sometimes' phenomenon....I also sometimes leave it charging all night but it doesn't seem to charge, even though the light is on. I think this is somehow connected to the wonky power button behavior...I get a green light on full charge sometime....i've never seen it turned green while powered off.....sometimes it won't turn on while plugged in, sometimes I need to do a battery pull, sometimes the SD card too, sometimes I need to press the power button a million times or hold it extra extra long....sometimes the charging light doesn't come on and it does charge, sometimes the light comes on and it doesn't...sometimes it gets really hot after charging and doesn't cool down after sitting idle....I usually just shut it off for a minute and turn it back on...somehow.
This is definitely one of my pet peeves with this phone...I also think this is linked to some phones never turning back on again, corrupted bootloader/recovery after a 'fastboot' shut-down or hot restart...
I'm diggin' the phone, don't get me wrong, but....I can't wait for the nPrime...
yeah, but it's less so the problem of it getting warm (pre or post charging) and moreso that it will start heating up a lot and you can tell that something is running the battery down in the background, the only way to stop this is to do a battery pull restart.
has anyone had similar issues with their phone going from full battery to dead in a few hours because of a hidden bugged process or something similar?
bump 10 char
I had that happen after tuning airplane mode off then back on. But that's itt

This happened to me this morning, first time and it was very weird. I've left it charging overnight per usual and this morning when I woke up and unplugged it, it had only 10% battery left. I tried charging it in my car on my way to work and have it plugged in to my computer USB now. I disabled a bunch of stuff as shown on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1141221
And it's now starting to charge.
I did however just update to showdown rom and had setcpu on 1.7 conservative. It still should have charged but I'm guessing a stuck process/bug drew all the power last night.
Hi,
My phone took a quick swim, so I pulled it out of the bath took the battery out as quick as I could. I then took the phone apart to help the drying process.....all good
Let it dry for two days and put it back together......Now the problem
Basically the phone boots up but says the battery is empty and I get the critical batt level message and after 20 seconds it shuts down...during the 20 or so seconds the phone works normally. When I pull in my charger (with the phone off) I get the 100% battery icon but am unable to turn the phone on. If I plug the charger in as the phone is booting, I get the charging icon in the top right......but it still shuts itself down.
When it shuts down it is with the Galaxy sII splash screen....not a straight shut down like it has absolutely no power
To me this looks like a software problem - but was wondering if any of you guys could help
Thanks in advance

Try with another battery?
.....forgot to add that I have tested the battery in another phone and all is ok - and have tried a known working battery in my phone......same with either battery so I can rule that out
So I took the prime of its box, plugged it into the wall and tried turning it on. When I did, the Android battery indicator screen showed up. The battery was in the red, about a quarter the way up. I've since called Asus about the issue, and they told me to charge it for about an hour. I've done that, and still it doesn't work. It still boots into the same screen. It won't even go into recovery if I hold volume- and power for 10 seconds, just back to the battery screen. I feel like maybe I'M doing something wrong here. Any ideas, guys?

it's gotta charge. mine did that too and i was freaking out. apparently not all tablets are charged. It took about 10 minutes to finally get it to boot up.
If you charge it and it still doesnt...then it might be time to ..worry
I'm only worried because it's been charging for an hour and still just goes to the battery screen, shutting off immediately after. I'll let it charge for a few hours and if it still doesn't work I'll just have to call Asus.
Whoa sorry to hear this. When i plugged mine in it started booting up & went to the home screen. It had 21% battery left on it.So i shut it down & letting it charge the full 8 hours that's recommended before even using the device.I hope yours works.
Make sure the charging light is on
where's the charging light?
its built into the power on button. a tiny little orange led
It's not coming on. When I plug the tablet in, it recognizes that it's plugged in and vibrates, tries to turn onamd fails.
Make sure it is plugged in all the way in the tablet.. and then wait a bit. you must use the wall charger.
It has been plugged all the way into the tablet with the wall charger :-/
Dang! Sorry to hear this. if it doesn't come on within the hour id say just exchange it. it might bea faculty unit. it should have enough juice to boot up by now considering if you charging it properly. Good luck. wish it was working for you because this is a great device.
I am having the same problem too when I first plugged it in the battery indicator screen came on real fast and turned off the orange charging light came on and turned off.I tried plugging into the computer it does nothing diffrent.I think it might bricked.
okay. i just got my primetoday, same deal. it doesn't start, tried to reset, etc. i finally charged it for a while, after a while, it finally boots. at that point it was at the 15% battery life mark.
seems a bit odd.... i would wait and see.. if its game stop they would of had games installed on it.
I just got mine today...woot!!! But the issue that u have happened to me also what it happened was a faulty charger

I tested the charger on my phone and it worked. I plugged into the tablet and pressed the power button the led came on and blinked and turned off quickly.I think the battery needs a good charge.
I had to charge mine until the battery indicator was green before it would turn on. Said in the manual to fully charge before using for the first time... so maybe it doesn't let you start up until charged?
Well after 3 hours of charging it finaly started up but the battery level was low 3% showing that tells me the battery had no charge in it.Well I am happy that it is working and hopefully no other problems show up.
Good to hear
Same exact thing happened to me, lol. Mine arrived with zero charge and I just let it sit for about an hour plugged in and all was well.

I was reading a comic (Akira) and the prime's screen just went black... I just charged it last night and battery was well over 50% when it turned off. I tried the power button, power + volume down, power + volume up, power + up & down and also the reset button... nothing, not even a vibration or a polite F**k You across the screen. Any ideas?
Edit: So just got home and plugged it in - Viola, it kicked on for a second flashed the low battery symbol and is now charging. so it must be mis-reporting the battery level or something?
I have had this happen on a couple of occasions. The first time I did as you did and plugged it in to reboot. The other time I held the power button down for something like 10-30 seconds and it powered back up.
Same here. I had it yesterday.. hold the powerbutton for about 20 seconds and it will boot.
No idea why the Prime is having this behaviour. Happens to me once every 2 weeks.

Same problem happened today - shut off
Hi
Just thought I'd add my comments as well.
Last night I fully recharged my Prime so keyboard and tablet were at 100% charge; this was completed about 6pm and I shut down the system for the whole night.
I then went out for the night.
Came to switch the unit on this morning, held the button for 2 secs and got the vibration you usually get, but system didn't switch on; screen stayed completely black, not even a feint black glow where you know the screen is black but its being powered...nothing.
Tried turning on again, with tablet attatched and detached..but still nothing, not even the vibrate.
Plugged the unit connected together into the mains and the charge lights came on...Orange...meaning charge was required. Triecswitching on and got the screen to disply the low battery charge graphic, then the screen turned off.
After 5 mins of charging, tried to start machine and it started fine.
Both batteries were dead though and needed charging. Its now been on charge for an hour and the tablet is charged to 33% and the keyboard is at 11%, so its looking ok on charging.
Thought it was a glitch, but looks like others are having similiar problems; just wanted to post my problem as well in case this becomes pandemic for Prime users.

Hi,
I have an old Z2 tablet, it was sitting in storage for a few years and the battery has been flat for a long time.
I plugged it into power a couple of days ago and miraculously it started charging. It charged to 18% and I tried turning it on. It then went completely dead, no read light. A few times the red light came on for a few seconds, the battery indicator came on then the screen went blank.
I'm sure their is a way to fix this.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
