The development activity on this forum is great. However, I've been checking out the i9100 forum and just 'wow' at all the activity occurring with the international version.
Would it be crazy to sale the AT&T one and pick up the International version? It's probably a noob question, but I don't really understanding if the ROM changes for AT&T are strictly tied to this forum or if some from the i9100 forum can be used.

I believe people get the AT&T version because they cannot cough up a ton of money for the international device. If you have that much money laying around and you ike the look of it, go ahead and buy it. However we do have design gears and a few others working with our AT&T device as well. It's a shame Samsung just doesn't make that phone available for all carriers. Then everybody can have an awesome phone.

You can't flash a ROM for the i9100 directly into the at&t version; you will run into problems such as the soft keys no longer working. Some devs are using i9100 rom files in their roms, though, such as Cognition 777.
You also might have to jump through some hoopla to get hspa+ working properly. People who got the international version before the at&t version came out had to do some tricks, such as giving at&t the imei number of a current 4g phone, so their phones would be identified as capable of 4g speeds.
Hellraiser makes it possible to flash any i9100 ROM on the i777 without issue. That package is flashed after the i9100 ROM and fixes the soft keys and other issues.

Thanks everyone. I may check around for the price of the International and give it a go.
It's just a great phone....do not miss the iPhone world at all.

Makes it hard to fully explain to someone why android and not apple.
I didn't convince a friend to jump to android from iPhone, the phone did. I was getting ready to show him a feature and ended up running out of time on his lunchbreak. He said later just the little he had seen navigating the phone was more than he'd been able to do on his iPhone.

Not true at all. I'm currently running Criskelo v30 on my i777 and it works flawlessly. You can flash just about any GT9100 ROM on the AT&T version. All you need to do is run HellRaiser and HapticFix and you're good to go.

You can flash a GT9100 ROM on your AT&T SGS2 without problem. All you need to do is download HellRaiser Mod and HapticFix, place it on your SDcard and flash them AFTER you flash a GT9100 ROM. DO NOT REBOOT PHONE UNTIL YOU HAVE FLASHED HELLRAISER AND HAPTICFIX!!
Enjoy!

I'd stick with the AT&T version.
I'd keep the ATT version too. It is almost exactly the same as the international version, with the specific exceptions of the key layout, NFC chip in the ATT model, and a slightly lamer charging circuit in the ATT model, as well as missing FM. Its really just a tradeoff of "do you want FM or NFC?". Development is going strong for the ATT SGS2, and honestly, we have a larger choice of ROMs than the international owners, because we can flash Attain ROMs or i9100 ROMs (with Hellraiser).
Thanks for the information.
Can you point me to the HELLRAISE and HAPTICFIX mods?
Thanks.

HellRaiser and HapticFix are located in the GT9100 development thread. Good luck!

I am a dual galaxy s2 user right now in the epic touch 4g we have people trying to use the international leaks of ics please do not try to use this firmware unless you are a developer. The international note and the at&t bell and rogers note are different. This will brick your device. Do not i repeat DO NOT use any firmware released for the international note on your device if it is from bell rogers or at&t.
Lol we know but thanks for the tip.
International note is a similar phone but different insides.

Not everyone knows there have been several that were questioning it. I just want it laid to rest that it will NOT work
Hello
Simple question: I own a SGH-i717M (bell) unlocked/unbranded Note and I would like to change the provider's firmware to be a SGH-i717D (Telus) as its my current provider and I wont get the ICS release without this modification. Id also like to flash it with the Telus stock ROM before getting the update (I think I found it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634321)
Im comfortable with the technical terminology but am pretty new to the mobile world when it comes to such modifications so id appreciate any advice
Can someone direct me to proper instructions or guide to proceed? Or explain me why this would be impossible to achieve?
Cheers
I presume its impossible if nobody can answer this...

I just saw a North American phone with a Korean rom. Insane.
Why not just use current (UCLF5) ICS leak -- it has no carrier brand at all?
Ya that could work but im worried about network issues. Id like to try out the samsung apps as well unless its obvious bloatware...

Hello,
I was doing some research and I could not find a definite answer so I am asking the community that would know best. I just recently picked up a Canadian Rogers Note and I was curious if I could use the AT&T roms on it? Obviously I would not use the american modems or radios, but by using the American rom would it brick or cause issues once I booted it up?
Thank you for your time
you can use any rom on this thread...you can try jelly bean or ics...just make backup before

Why can't you use ATT radios? You sure as heck can. You can install the complete package if you want.
So, am raising call again to XDA~Community to rename forums to
AT&T Rogers Bell Telus Samsung Galaxy Note I717.
Just like S3 forums.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
has anyone looked at what? running an i9100 on AT&T network? sure....just pop a sim in and go
if you are referring to running i9100 firmware on the i777, have you even bothered to WONDER why there is a PORTED DEVELOPMENT SECTION? ever thought to look for yourself?
And sir, here's your cat.
