Is there a good one click root available for the stock ICS Note?
Odin cwm through download mode. Flash superuser. More like 3-4 clicks. Tons of information in dev section, check the posts for flashing recovery. Its an unlocked boot loader so you don't need the programs like HTC or Motorola phones need, ie zergrush etc.

I wanted to know the best way to root....
The only thing I care about is tether to my moto Xoom. I really don't want to Boise warranty and have counter go up unless it is te BEST WAY
System flash
Overclock kernel
Root kernel
Wow 65 views and no opinion....
Well, I tried to copy the thread URL from the AT&T Note development forums but kept getting a force close so I just went to the browser to copy the link. I haven't rooted myself yet, but this seems to be the easiest way I've seen.
I imagine that it won't be to long before this is improved further. Anyway, here's the link to that thread:

Yea that's the kernel version, I just wanted to get opinions on what they used and why they think it's the best

That's the root that I used, and then I did his overclock kernel from another thread. The Note is my fourth Android phone and that's by far the easiest and fastest root that I've ever done. Literally, within minutes I was rooted and overlclocked.
I just want to be easy and safe... Not like I err break a phone and get warranty work... Knock on wood
system root only because it won't increase your flash counter so ATT/Sammy can't deny warranty on it if they choose.
I did system root for now until there is a way to reset the flash counter.

Hey, sorry if this is the wrong section/wrong etiquette/wrong me. All the information on rooting and flashing and everything for this device seems to be scattered all over the place, any chance someone could make a guide on everything I should do to go from a stock, unrooted Jelly Bean T-Mobile P769 to having Cyanogenmod installed?
Thanks a whole lot.
Yes I was going to make another one tomorrow because the one I had I don't really like mainly because I have no pictures, so I'm going to make another one because I'm going to root my p769 because I bricked the one I had before so tomorrow you should see one

You're gonna have to unlock your boot loader first in order to flash cm 10.1. Which is a very complicated process.

This is the first page to root your phone. Read through it and get a full understanding before trying. It's not hard but it's not super easy either. Good luck.

No. This method gives a recovery that could allow the phone to get bricked. It is no longer supported
OP, please read "[ref] read before rooting" in my signature first.

really? do you believe that you're the first person to ask for a rooting guide? you're not, which means you shouldn't have posted, but instead followed one of the guides on xda, which are easily found. hell, there's a link on the section list page.

Depends when you rooted. The bug was only identified in November and fixes only released in January

Really you should follow an xda guide, no point in linking to another site....if you have a query about their method you should address them, I can guarantee their method is copy/paste or rewrite of an xda post anyway.

Hi there,
You might want to check out samsung galaxy III toolkit here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488.
It is a fairly easy to understand command tool which will root your phone and also install custom recovery (which is essential IMO if you want to try different ROMs later on).
