Hi there,
I have just installed AOSP Jellybean (and also CM10 preview) and am searching for a way to remove the status bar completely from the bottom of the screen. I was using AOKP and could do this from the power menu. Is there a way to do it in JB or a mod that could be applied.
I cannot find anything on the web or on XDA about this. I am posting here as I cannot yet post in the development section, but I think I should probably be asking that question there instead.
Many thanks,
Graham.
for status you mean notification? if so that has to come from a custom rom IF any developer feels like doing it.. that's a jelly bean feature.. if you dislike it go back to ICS.. personally y prefer this way because the os its more consolidated between phones and tabs..

Hi Msedek,
Thank you for your response. I am finding JB more stable than the ICS varieties as I have trouble with Splashtop with any ICS build (it crashes the tablet). It seems to run fine in JB. I need to remove the statusbar because when I run Splashtop to fill the screen the status/nav bar is in the way - therefore I need to temporarilly remove it when using Splashtop. Reverting to ICS would not work for me I am afraid.
I have seen mods for other Android version (e.g. Honeycomb) that add a toggle to the power menu (and software that removes the status/nav bar) but I cannot find anything for JB at this time.
Kind regards,
Graham.

Hi maplesyrup. Thank you for your response.
I had a look at that app however it wont do the job as once i have hidden the status bar then there is no way to return to the homescreen or another application as button savior and the gesture control app do not seem to work with jellybean.
Many thanks,
Graham.

I was thinking in including that option in the AOSP ROM, the next build I will. Also, you can contact the developer to report that bug.

does anyone know of a way to run the note in tablet mode in ICS 4.0.4 so all my apps display in 100% full screen?
Not sure if there's a way to do it in system. I know for sure you can do it with most home screen replacements-launchers.

I use APex launcher and it has an option to hide the status bar. Nova has it too.
Iam currently using sslauncher.

Apex settings.
Cosmo D from outer space!
I came to rock the human race!
You have to freeze it. The only free option I have ever seen is an app called "AntTek App Manager". Now when you freeze the statusbar it will keep popping up a FC but to fix this freeze the status bar and after it disappears defrost it and it should still stay hidden til you reboot.
Another vote fo using Apex launcher -- it has the option to autohide the status bar in phone mode (dpi of 214,or higher) .
Now, Tablet Mode (dpi of 213, or lower) is a different story. For that, you'll have to get with the ROM developer to implement a hide button. (Hybrid ROM has this).
I guess what I really want is to run the note in tablet mode so it is 100% full screen (I dont need that black bar at the top of the screen that displays the clock, battery life, cell reception/bars, etc)

Which ROM?
OnlyOne ICS ROM Beta 4*HYFR*for AT&T*Galaxy Note*...
Hopefully there is a mod like this that could preserve the quickpanel
You should go with CM9, AOKP, or The Hybrid if you're looking for a functional tablet mode. OnlyOne isn't gonna cut it...
Will any of those preserve the quickpanel and are those ICS?

Yes, they're all ICS, and I *think* the 15toggle mod works on Hybrid...maybe. I'm not sure whether or not there is a version of it for the others.
Warning: you will lose S-pen functionality with CM9 and AOKP, but not Hybrid.
I suggest you go read as much of the Hybrid's thread as possible. It's slightly more complex than what you may be used to.
Good luck!

Does SSlauncher work in tablet mode? I've toyed with it a little before on my evo, but haven't tried it on the note yet.
Yes Sir, it sure does.
aokp has a setting for this i used it all the time on our rom,
paranoid has it aswell as im using it on that one aswell.
just search settings when you use roms you find all sorts of things not mentioned

Hi guys
I know there are various AOKP ROMs that have enabled Expanded Desktop functionality... But I want to use it in standard CM10.
What tweaks have to be made to the rom to do this?

"Expanded Desktop" is available normally on Tablets and some other devices, it's normally an option available in the "Power Menu".
It appears in "Paranoid Android" ROM, and i know it is contained in standard CM10 builds.
Just figuring out how to enable, the option in the Power Menu..
I know in the CM10 forum people just say "Aaaah you dont need it"
but yes i WANT it..
and if it is a simple tweak as the code is already in there then i am happy to do this myself

i just like it, adds a little bit more screen real estate to apps, Apex Launcher can only hide the status bar whilst you are in the launcher.
I know people say "oh it's only good for Nexus Owners" but is there any reason why i cant? Paranoid Android has it so why cant i?
Maybe i'll ask the question in the Paranoid Android Thread
You could try tasker it'll be able to hide the status bar in specific apps and I'm sure cm10 has it as its options double check the options

there is no option in CM10.. but i think the option switched off .. and is only selectable if you have a phone with no hardware keys, cant ask in the Paranoid Android thread as it is temporarily closed
Hi,
Anyone knows how can we enable the short/long day in the status bar in front of clock (except JKay)?
Thank you.
you can always install aokp build...
Maybe, but I prefer to have it for Sammy ROMs.
Best regards.

There are several great apps on Google Play. I am using app called Statusbar Calendar and it's GREAT. You should try it.
To be clear, these will only work for AOSP ROMs and the GoogleEdition ROM.
Threw these together for myself. Love having the navbar but it is a pain to add every nightly I flash. So I threw this together. I made two versions. One simply adds the navbar and disables the capacitive menu and back buttons (with them active the navbar becomes nearly impossible to use) and triggers the navbar. Fear not, this mod triggers the in app menu overflow access and for that matter you could then create a menu on the navbar. I couldn't automate disabling the backlight so that will still need to be disabled via settings>advanced>sensors. I also made a version that changes the device DPI from 480 to 360 (my preferred DPI).
Download - AOSP_navbar_enabled.v3.zip
Base version above now allows OTA survival. Will reapply itself after each nightly.
Download - AOSP_navbar_enable_360dpi.zip
Download - AOSP_remove_NAVBAR.v3.zip
Here is the method to inject changed into the build.prop that I used (found here)
On the GoogleEdition ROM it does not support disabling the capacitive button backlights natively so the app from the following thread is needed
[APP] Google Edition ROMs - Disable Button Lights

A fixed navbar taking up space precious on a small display seems Nexus- like. Stop this abomination NOW! Instant S4 mini (comparable display space usable for apps).

Of course you are welcome to your opinion!! And in part I agree. That is why I run at 360dpi, that way it has less of an impact on the display. I know it is not for everyone, but choice is the spice of life.

Thanks for this. Is it possible to only activate the in app menu overflow without adding the nav bar? It's so much more intuitive to have that, rather than guessing whether or not the menu button will do anything within each app (the whole reason google got rid of the menu button in the first place).
I wish I knew how!! To be frank, when you enable the navbar and disable the capacitive buttons it activates the menu overflow within apps all by itself. Must be part of the navbar framework. But let me look into it. I MIGHT have an idea but it would be ROM specific, not a general mod like this. What ROM are you running or would like such a feature for?

Running both the Verizon Google Edition ported rom and Clean Rom. Appreciate it, but don't bother putting time into it if it's ROM specific. What you have posted here already is helpful enough!

I will try for the GE port, it should be an easy mod. These don't work on stock touchwiz as it doesn't have the needed framework for the navbar. For some reason Samsung gutted the navbar from their source

Oh it works very nice, but there are some cases (like tapatalk) where the menu would instead be within the navbar so this is not a capacitive menu replacement

Wow, more buttons....so what I only need 3 anyway. Plus the phone is big as hell, it has more space for more buttons anyway....
There are several cool features of the new software for stock control.
Is there any way to port this to stock 4.4.2 ROMs on the G2 so that we can replace the Menu button by Recent Apps?
In my humble opinion that navigation bar looks too cluttered and asymmetric.
I think, LG should just update ours G2 KK stock roms with those features we'go 20A, so maybe 20B? I also would glad welcome those dissabling features in notification bar.. go to hell with volume nad brightness sliding controls...

I happen to know of an xposed module for the G2 that will simply replace any "menu" button on the navbar with a recents button. It then causes a long-press on recents to bring up a menu. I'm sure it'll appear once xposed is updated to support the G2's kitkat firmware.

You are wrong... and clueless. I've already replaced the menu button on my device with recent apps, and then a bit more. While messing with that code, I also encountered the code (this is in the d80020c firmware) for user editing of the navbar. Sorry to be ot but you seem to me to be a good person to ask. I recently ran cloudya flex rom (4.2.2), a port which included the ability to hide the soft keys on apps of the users choice leaving a small touch area to bring them back. Do you happen to know if the code for this is present in the G2 stock rom but hidden or, otherwise, is it something that could easily be ported as a standalone mod? I think this may have been present in some earliar Korean builds.
I asked in the relevant thread but didn't get any joy other than being pointed in the direction of a buggy immersive app and exposed mods.
I would much appreciate your thoughts on this.
uh oh.... im in love... the glittery front bezel reminds me of the backing of the nexus 4. it looks awesome. i want it...
"G2 Xposed" allows you to customize the navbar as well, only one button less. Plus it can adjust the navbar height, and there is "bleed emmersive mode" for some well-designed apps.
