I've been a happy Apex user for many months now, but I've found its performance on Android 4.3 to be a bit lacking in smoothness compared to previous versions of android. This lead me to test a few of the more popular launchers and I noticed that Nova, in particular, had a much smoother feel over Apex. I would still return to Apex if the performance issues are addressed, but for now I'm content with Nova.
Which leads me to the following question: What are other Nexus10 users' experience with launchers since the update to 4.3?

I used Nova Launcher Pro with 4.2.2 and now with 4.3 on rooted stock ROM and do not see any difference during everyday use. I thought it was smooth with very infrequent desktop transition hick-ups under 4.2.2 and maybe a little less under 4.3. If there is a difference it is not noticable to me. Never bothered me before and that feeling continues.
I actually started using smart launcher recently on my phone and n10.
I was on ADW but it's was performing poorly, so switched to Nova. It's been solid since.

I use Nova too
Nova kicks ass! No lags even with live wallpaper + scrolling background (I use Paperland Pro) , great customisation and functionalities, best launcher by far IMHO

I'm using the stock now, but I think I'll try nova sometime.
How smooth is this phone when loaded with apps/processes and while multitasking?
I tried an S4 at some stores and it was very smooth, almost close to Iphone smoothness, though not quite yet. But then one time I tried a different S4 and it was laggy. It was using around 1 GB ram! Perhaps too many processes running at once.
So how is your S4 while loaded up with apps, processes, and also while multitasking? Is it smooth?
It's smooth for the most part. Of course multitasking does slow the phone down regardless of its exceptional hardware. It's sad for me to say, but the stock rom unrooted is the best experience I've had with this phone as far as smoothness and battery life.

I've read that Android 4.3 improves battery life.
Would flashing an Android 4.3 ROM such as AOKP or CM10.2 improve battery life over a Touchwiz 4.1.2 based ROM?
I'm not sure because Touchwiz ROMs are usually optimized for this certain device unlike AOSP ROMs.
I've tried many different ROMs and I've noticed that most of the time, 4.1.2 TW ROMs have better battery than 4.3 ROMs.
What's your observations?
You can achieve the same battery life on aosp compared to touchwiz. I wont recommend any kernel or rom here, since most likely it wont work the same way for you. I actually never even used touchwiz for more than 1 day. Currently im testing it though, since development on cyanogenmod for our s3 is kind of inactive. So far Im neither inpressed nor disappointed by the battery life of the tw rom. Its very similar, maybe a little worse compared to my aosp setup. Unfortunately you often need to test rom, kernel and modem until you find your best combo on aosp. Thats why many people complain about battery life

Which provides the best battery life? Looking to flash cm 11 or hyperdrive.
Depends on your setup, roms don't make much difference. As far as using something AOSP based vs TW based on a Samsung phone, it basically goes two ways. Obviously TW is more stable, generally AOSP kind of dials everything from signal to volume to power efficiency back a little bit compared to TW because it's not optimized for the phone. TW is still bloated though and if you use all of the Smart, Air, & Motion features you won't get as good as battery life as with an AOSP rom that doesn't offer those battery-eating options. If you turn all that off then you do experience better power efficiency because of the optimization factor.
Thank you very much! I might have to play around with different roms over Christmas break!

Which build is your GS4? If you are not on MDK you cannot flash a custom recovery which IS required to rum CM based ROMs. Any other build limits you to using safestrap and SS based ROMs.
I am on mdk

I'm on touchwiz, it's quiet ok until now.

Joshm.1219 hit it right on the head. If you debloated tw with titanium backup, maybe use greenify and auto brightness and your battery should easily last you a full day. I have found AOSP ROMs to be slightly slower when it comes to benchmarks as well.

I usually freeze most Samsung stuff like Samsung apps, wallet etc. And OEM stuff like Verizon crap. That's what's so good about freezing, if you freeze something and it messes something up you just un freeze it. But the majority of what drains peoples batteries are WiFi GPS Bluetooth being left on and not having auto brightness set to on. Freezing stuff will help more with performance and battery.

I have a stock tab s3 on Verizon. I'm not that impressed with its gaming performance. I'm curious if there are any mods or a modified rom for it that's recommended. Just something to make it do a little better than stock.
I've tried to use the game launcher & tuner so far.
