App for Gmail to 'Mark as Read' from the notification bar?

Does something like this exist? I find myself many times clicking on an email which I really don't need to read just to mark it as read because this way it'll still tell me the email's subject in the notification bar if I keep it to only 1 unread email. When there's two or more it'll just say [email protected] (#).. Anyone understand what I'm saying?
EDIT: I ended up disabling gmail notifications altogether and just downloading the "gmail unread count" widget to simplify things. Thanks.
Take a look at Gmail Popup.
It gives you a popup similar to SMS Popup and you can mark it, delete it, favorite it, etc right from the popup window.
I love it since we don't have an LED.

[Q] Shortcut for composing text message

I know there must be an easier way to begin composing a text message but have not figured it out.
Currently I have this set-up:
The native Motorola message widget is on the home screen
To compose a text I:
tap Message widget
tap "Go to Messaging"
tap "Text Messaging"
tap "New text message"
Then I am able to begin my text input.
Any thoughts on shortening this procedure?
I erased the message widget from my home screen and put the stock text message app short cut in place of the message one.
So I tap text messages
Then tap new message
Then type text
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
I use launcher pro and handcent messaging, so on my dock I have the handcent app docked and use the swipe feature to start the "quick compose" feature of handcent to start a new text message. One swipe and I'm on my way. Love the set up.

Click to collapse
Edit: Nevermind found how to do this. Thanks for the tip!

Text messages not being marked as read?

Using stock HTC Messages app. Everytime I get a text message and open up the app (whether through the notification bar or the app icon on my homescreen) once I click the back button to go back to the text messages list it still shows the unread bubble. I have to tap into the text message thread again and back out for it to be marked read.
Anyone else have this problem/and or a solution to this?
yep, and it's super annoying =(
When your done reading the text/msg try hitting menu and select mark as read

Actionable SMS notification.

So I watching WWDC 2014 yesterday and really liked the Actionable Notification for SMS (dont care about other apps). IMO, its an essential part of phone and I really liked this feature. Anyways, for months now I been trying to find a popup quick reply app that lets me quick reply from lockscreen on my Nexus 5 running CM11. Some stuff I found was SMS popup which didnt work to good on handling multiple messages. I used EvolveSMS for a long time since it would unlock the screen to show you the popup sms and once you hit send it would bring you back to lock screen. However I was looking for something like ChompSMS where it did that but it gave me option to customize my popup menu, I have to option to open, close, reply, delete etc (I can customize buttons) for my popup screen. Plus I can swipe from one message to another if multiple are popping up at the same time. However I was more in line of something Apple introduced, simple and yet elegant, just sms straight from notification bar, pull down and type.
Anything like that?

Aggravated with android texting apps, any ideas.

I have been an android user for 5 years but recently my S6 got broken. So I used my daughters old iphone 5s for a few weeks. I have to admit the texts simplicity was really very nice. I receive a text with a popup in the middle of the screen, swipe left to dismiss or swipe right and the message app opens with the keyboard popping right up. Very convenient especially one handed. With android I need to swipe down the banner, tap reply and and then also tap in the reply area of the message to get the keyboard to pop up.
Ive tried a few apps with good results but just nothing as simple as the iphone. Chomp ok but won't show MMS in popup and no sending indicator. Textra good but small banner popup only on top of screen plus no sending indicator. Yaata best so far but sends all my pictures turned sideways. Also all the texting apps show all my previous texts once I download the app but the scrolling if VERY VERY choppy. I do plenty of one handed texting and just like it to be as simple as possible. Thanks, Tim
