[Q] Adb and Driver issue.. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I have rootet my phones and swapped kernels and roms
and tried to get a hang of this for 3 years now, and usualy
i find the anwsers i need in the forum.. (great job guys realy love all of you)
But after a weekend of headscratching, i need to make a post here and ask for help..
my phone got softbricked and stuck at Bootscreen after a failed kernel swap, i resolved it by flashing a new kernel through Odin since download mode was the only thing i got it to enter.. But after this my device no longer recognises adb nor the usb
As well as Windows 7 64 cant find the devices driver.. anywere.. yes i have ofc tried the newest available driver.. But the device works.. it just doesent want to communicate with my computer. Odin aswell get COM errors from time to time..
Cant mount ext.sd card, and loading backup doesent seem to do anything either.
Plz help ? :crying:

Try flashing again your ROM since you may have damaged the operating system during the failed kernel swap and the subsequenct failed boots.
If that still fails, take a Titanium backup (aswell as SMS Backup+) and factory-reset the device. However that should not be necessary

[Q] Help returning to stock

Hello All!
Relative noob here...but more seasoned all the time. Firstly my viewpad device info from FTM:
SWVer=3.410
Model: FM6-001
HWVer: 107
In a nutshell: My bluetooth wasn't turning on (would turn on..then off). So tried to fix by:
1) Rooting and install CWM 5.0.2.6 (awesome tool BTW) and various ROMs, all done with success.
2) No good, oh well now want to give up. Contacted Viewsonic got RMA to return unit..however now concerned they'll not honor warranty if I rooted the device (sigh). So thought I'd return to stock. I did backup..but was already rooted when I thought of it.
3) Trying to return to stock using many versions Sutl3 and Sutlr...and on different PCs none work..once it boots to CWM menu...just stalls with error eventually.
4) Tried to install Napster's CWM with Recovery Menu to be able to return to original state with stock recovery. My version of CWM won't install it...errors out (another great tool though by the sounds of it).
5) Can't use fastboot..never sees device...although ADB works OK. Believe that the Bluetooth issue may be a hardware problem and may be effecting devices ability to work in "download mode". Note that HS-USB device is never present in device manager in Windows even though driver is installed.
So...my question...how can I return my device to stock with one of the below .nb0 files without stock recovery, sutlr or sutl3?
Files I have:
FM6-3310-0-5029-A02.nb0
FM6-3350-0-1008-A01.nb0
Can I somehow use CMW? Can I somehow use adb and "flash_image"?
Will super appreciate any thoughts!
Many thanks in advance!
Johnster25
If I remember correctly, you use SUTL3 from Viewsonic on your PC with the *.nb0 file in the same sub/directory - and just run it to flash the stock ROM or return it to factory condition, you do NOT use CWM to flash or re-install the *.nb0 file ... Part of this process involved overwriting the CWM installed on your rooted device & reversing it to become unrooted, look under the Development subforum here in this section as there's a link/discussion about how to restore, please double check on the details written up.
Also, make sure you have a mSD card in the slot - and that the USB drivers are loaded & running (they should be installed already back then) - might want to power down & restart the PC and do the same to the Vpad7.
Let us know how it go & good luck !
Many thanks for your response.
Well, what has happened when I've used SUTL3 so far is that I select the .nbo image I wish to flash, then the program restarts teh VPAD7 into recovery mode.
From what I've read, after a few moments the phone is then supposed to enter some sort of "download mode" whereby the new image is pushed across the USB cable.
It's at this point with SUTL3 seems to error out, and the phone simply remains in CWM.
I've read a few posts that suggest that not using the correct image could produce a response like this, so I'll retry again this PM having tried re-downloaded the two .nbo files I've tried, and one I've not tried.
Will let you know how it goes!
J.
Hi Again,
OK I've retried it with a fresh copy of SUTL3, and new .nb0 files. Still no good.
Take a look at the enclosed pictures. The first time I try to run SUTL3 the device not configure error shows up. By this point CWM is showing on the VPAD7. I try to run SUTL3 again in this state and now the device not detect error shows up.
So all in all it seems to me that the device when in CWM mode is not exposing an interface to the computer...or the computer lacks the driver needed to utilize the interface.
I've also enclosed a picture of my windows devices when the VPAD7 is connected, as well a copy of the drives that show up when it's connected. The only time the drives change is when the VPAD7 is in CWM mode, at which time the H: drive (where the adb program are) is not present.
So am I missing a driver?
BTW: Have tried to copy down the synchronization program that is on the H: Drive and ran it while running SUTL3...thinking somehow it acted like a bridge to the VPAD7 (I've seen some posts that suggest this). Still no good.
J.
OK..one more piece to the puzzle...or maybe off the trail...but when trying on two differnt PCs when the VPAD7 is first plugged in I get one set of driver installs...and note that the HS-USB has an error.
Later when trying to run SUTL on it...another set of driver installs...again HS-USB error.
See enclosed.
try run sutl with viewpad in FTM mode that worked for me good luck
I have same problem before..n my solution is change back CWM with old ..mine to CWM 2.5.1..found that CWM 5.0.2.6 got problem with SUT L3..and everythind done successfully..as long u can still access ur Viewpad to change CWM its ok..
Wow! Thanks so much for your reply! This would be a huge help. Any idea where I might be able to find that older version of CWM?
Alleycatzero you're a genius! Running SUTL in FTM mode has done it!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is under the Development section - just d/l and unpack the zip file, copy to mSD card & follow the instructions. This verison should be the earlier one and I personally find it worked best together with ext3 and/or ext4 partitioning as needed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015005
The issues with SUTL3 and other apps not working/running has to do with the usb drivers not auto-installing & running as they should, try to uninstall Vpad7 drivers, reboot the PC - turn off any firewall and anti-virus software, connect the Vpad7 and let it finish installing/rebooting both devices again. Then, turn back on antivirus & firewall so that you will have easier time flashing rom, connecting mSD card & copying/moving files, etc.

[Q] Clockworkrec

I tried other forums now trying the best
I have been really dumb and bricked my Samsung Ace, I was trying to backup the ROM and used software found (apparently I can not link the page)
I have tried using ODIN but the computer while assigning a drive letter will not access the phone. I have downloaded Kiies but that does not work, I have tried holding the power and vol button but no
However I have access to System Recovery, where I get an error message of E:failed to mount, I have put clockwork rec on the SD card and there are various options including mounting objects.
I have now spent 5 days tring to resolve this so really looking for some guidance before I screw up even more
Or will clockworkrec not work
Any advice appreciated!!!
communication
Can I ask a question if anyone knows an answer.
How is it that the PC recognizes the phone and loads the usb drivers, modem and so on yet I can not access it?
Odin the new version wil not communicate with the phone but Odin 3.07 will recognize that is connected to the phone but will not communicate with it/
Does anyone know the answer?

Need Help...Im stumped...

Hi everyone,
So I bought my friends HTC ONE X PLUS off him even though he had boot loop following a botched Custom ROM installation.
Stupidly I thought I could fix it.
It is an international device locked to O2. It loops at the HTC logo and allows boot into bootloader and CWM. The problem I have is that the PC doesnt even recognise it as a USB MASS (even after downloading the latest drivers - several times ) CWM wont even mount the storage.
Ive tried sideloading and everything else but no joy. The RUU I need to flash back to stock isnt out yet ? 1.17.206.1 and I cant ( as mentioned ) just dump an img/zip into the root as I cant get access to the storage. Its shows on the PC as removable storage but when I click it it asks me to insert a disk.
When I adb device/fastboot device it gives a number and says fastboot. ADB shows nothing in list of attached devices.
Any suggestions? If anyone in the UK would be happy for me to post it to them so they can have a go Id be happy to fund a beer or 2 in return
Thanks all.

The reason why the phone does not boot up anymore is that you friend probably forgot to flash the proper kernel/boot.img for the rom he installed. The kernal can't be flashed in recovery because the phone is still S-ON. In the HTC One X+ General forum you will find two tutorials with everything you need to know about unlocking/rooting/flashing using this phone. If you read both of them carefully, you should be able to solve your problem. Don't forget to press Thanks for the two guys who made these guides!!!
Also here you should be able to find the correct RUU for your CID. But since it needs relocked bootloader, you probably will have to read the to guides anyway and it is probably much easier to stay with unlocked bootloader and do the right flashing procedure.

[LG L5] Totally bricked?

LG L5 (E610 )
Windows 8 x64
oryginall usb cable
Hello,
When I was flashing my phone yesterday, something went wrong, and my phone isn't working very well(i guess ). So, i have had Android 4.1.2 on stock non-brand ROM. I've decided ,that i will upgrade it to CM 10 , which has nightly builds. There were no errors during instalation and after reboot i have seen my CM ROM working. BUT, i haven't got any GSM connection, and phone was saying, that "there were errors on refreshing networks list" or smth similiar. I've decided to install baseband switcher from L7 device ( i know, stupid decision .. ) in recovery . I did it, and after reboot i got stripes on my screen. I thinked, that it's bricked, but when I plugged in USB cable to my computer, android boots and , have normal desktop with all features enabld, BUT i don't have ability to go to Emergency mode or Recovery mode ( stripes, stripes everywhere ) . What shall i do, is there a small chance to restore my phone from adb in eclipse, or smth ?

My friend Eclipse is used to build android apps,in our case(Eclipse application is a plug-in that creates an extension for the extension point,to create applications in java form)... http://wiki.eclipse.org/FAQ_What_is_an_Eclipse_application?
As for the bricked phone, its not bricked if it comes on,its called a soft brick and can be fixed by reinstalling a recovery, then a rom that is compatible with your phone.
Diablo 7 is right as your phone is booting up then you are having soft brick it happens to lot of people what you have to do is just flash custom recovery through pc and look for some compatible rom and flash it via recovery
Total brick means it will not boot up it cannot be detected by USB it's boot got corrupt

Ok, thanks for your reply. The thing is, I can't go to recovery or emergency mode, so I think, that i can't use flash tool. What kind of tools, do you mean, which can help me?
EDIT:
Ok, i got it works, First I uninstalled all drivers from my OS, then installed it again from LGMobileSupportTool and using Emergency System Recovery make it works. I'm glad to have Android 4.1.2
Thanks for your replies.
How to do it?
I have the same problem. Can you give me a step-by-step method on how to do it. Thank you very much?
