You cant flash an Rom through your Stock Recovery, so you have to download an Custom Recovery. In this case i'll write this How to by using the BootMenu Manager created by Whirleyes.
Download it from Play Store or the OP of BootMenu
3. Setup BootMenu
After you have downloaded the BootMenu you have to get it started.
When you open the App the first time, it will show you the Installer Screen.
Just hit the Download Button and wait, till everything is checked!
If you're wanna uninstall the Recovery, just hit the Uninstall - Buttons
1. Uninstall Hijack
2. Uninstall Packages
3. Uninstall BootMenu Manager
This can be necessary, befor you apply an OTA Update.
4. Backup your Rom
The next step should be an Backup of your Main system, in case that anything went wrong! Of course you can Backup your Second System, too.
1. Select 1st System Manager / 2nd System Manager
2. Select Fast Backup
3. Choose you Storage (internal / external) and name your Backup
4. Hit OK and confirm the Reboot
5. Prepare your Webtop Partition for 2nd System
To install and Second System on your RazR you have to clean up your Webtop Partition. To do this you have to boot into the Custom Recovery.
1. Select Mounts & Format
2. If the Webtop is not mounted, set it to mount Webtop
2. Select Format Webtop
3. Reboot
6. Rom Converter
To flash an Rom with BootMenu on your RazR you have to convert it first! The Rom Converter will edit the Update Script and set the 2nd init on Safestrap based Roms.
1. Open Rom Converter
2. Set Patch 2nd-init rootfs if you're converting an Safestrap based Rom!
!!! Don't set 2nd-init rootfs when you convert MiUi !!!
3. Select your Rom.zip and confirm
You will see the process in the Notificationbar.
After it's done you get an new Zip File called BM_Rom.zip, which you have to flash!
7. Installation on Main System / Second System
Now you have the choice to keep your Stock Rom clean and install an Rom on your Webtop Partition or to Crackflash your RazR completely. I will show you both ways.
1. Select 1st System Manager / 2nd System Manager
2. Select Install a Zip Package
3. Select Add a Zip File to Queue & select your BM_Rom.zip
!!! If you're on an GSM Device and on your way to flash an CDMA Rom, you have to add the GSM Patch AFTER the BM_Rom.zip !!!
AOKP based GSM Patch
CM9 based GSM Patch
Stock based GSM Patch
If necessary, select the GApps.zip AFTER the Rom (and before the GSM Patch)
4. Check Clear Data & Cache + Clear Dalvik Cache Before you confirm your choice!
The BootMenu Manager will reboot into Recovery, flash your Zips and reboot into your new Rom.
Beware!
When you reboot your new Rom the BootMenu will check the Hijack (the on Boot Option). If there's something wrong, it will warn you and re-ask if you really wanna reboot!
If that happens to you, don't reboot!
Go back in the Recovery and switch to 6. System Keeper. There select install Hijack and try to reboot again. If you still get an warning, then restore your last Backup before you reboot.
After that you can check the Updater-Script or if it's the right Rom for you (GSM?) and you used the right Instructions.
After you rebooted your device, you will see an screen with an green Android. Tab it to select the Rom you wanna boot or to boot into Custom Recovery again.
You can set your default Rom after you booted the Rom in the BootMenu App under BootMenu Settings!
The first Boot of an new Rom always takes an bit longer, than usual. So relax and WAIT!
If you decide to install an new Custom Rom over an older one, you don't need to install your Stock Rom first! Just Wipe everything and follow the Instructions of the Rom Thread to install it.
TROUBLESHOOT
!!! I faced an Problem during this Tutorial. This contains the Main System - flash and the Stock based GSM - Patch !!!
Main System:
If you flash an Rom on your Main System, the Hijack (on Boot Option) will be kicked off! That's easy to solve:
1. Deny Reboot and go back
2. Select System Keeper
3. Select install Hijack
4. Reboot
Stock based GSM Patch:
CDMA User can ignore this!
I only faced this Problem by using the Stock based GSM Patch on an Stock based CDMA Rom (Eclipse / Simplex / Black Widow 214)
I wasn't able to get an Data - connection after i rebooted into the Rom. To solve this, just reboot your RazR and hit the Custom Recovery during the Hijack!
1. Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik Cache
2. Install GSM Patch
4. Reboot
Fastboot for the webtop_signed
Here's an way to get the second System running on an RazR that you purchased with ICS preinstalled. It seems, that you can't mount the Partition with it.
You will get an failure called >invalid argument< when you enter the line mount -t ext3 /dev/block/webtop /tmp/webtop
To get it working, we tried to fastboot an GB webtop_signed on an ICS Maxx and after that it works flawless for the Guy.
You also can use this to get your Files back which where deleted to get the second system running!
DOWNLOAD
PART1 + PART2
This is the Webtop_signed of the 651.167.26.XT910.Retail.en.EU that was used to get on the 672.180.33.XT910.Retail.en.EU some times ago.
If you have an GB 2.3.6 Fastboot File of your Region and wanna use this webtop_signed, you can only download the FlashME.bat and add your File into the Folder!
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?qibcf1inyb7ao8y
INSTALLATION
After you downloaded an extracted the 2 Parts you'll get an Folder called Webtop 2.3.6.en.EU.
In this you'll find the FlashMe.bat and the Webtop_signed.
Connect your RazR in AP Fastboot Modus with your PC and doubleclick the FlashMe.bat.
Your RazR will reboot after the flash was sucessfull
Now you can follow the steps to get your second system on your preinstalled ICS.
8. I stuck in an Bootloop, what now?
In case, that your Rom won't boot you can always boot into the Custom Recovery again.
Shut down your RazR by holding Power & Vol- till your screen turns black. When you now start your RazR again, you should see the green Android from above.
Hit him and select the Custom Recovery.
Once you're there you can restore the Backup of your previous Rom!
I recommend to wipe data before you start the restore.
1. Select Backup & restore
2. Change Backup location > Micro SD
3. Restore
4. Select your Backup and wait
5. Reboot
If that won't work, remember the start of this Thread. You got RSD and the Fastboot Files ready, right?
9. Install some Themes / Extras
If you decide to install an new Theme or some Extras like the Kernel Modules on your new Rom, follow this steps:
1. Select the Theme / Extra
2. Check clean Dalvik Cache
3. Hit Ok and confirm
10. Flash in Recovery
Of course you can still flash an Rom or Extras OldSchool - Like in the Recovery
Read the Instructions of the Thread, where you get your Rom from! In most cases the following steps are needed:
1. Wipe & clean > Wipe data & cache (Factory Reset) > Wipe cache > Wipe dalvik cache
2. Install zip package
3. Change zip file location > Micro SD
4. Install a zip package
5. Select Rom.zip and wait
6. Power options > Reboot
For some Roms you need to install extra GApps (Google Apps) or an GSM Patch. Do this after the Rom and before you reboot!
That's all i can tell you about that stuff. If somebody find an failure or something i missed, just post it and i will correct it as soon as possible.
Now please keep the Development Section Clean!
If you still got Questions you can ask them in the Q&A Section!

Nice work!

good tutorial...

HSD-Pilot great work, that was missing to many users! Just a suggestion: in step when u said about bootloop, u can describe how users can enter bootmenu recover cause i think is missing this.

this project grows bigger than I thought.. (more than what I can handle alone)
with a lot of coding/bug fixes need to be done, I really haven't/want to spend time making a documentation.
Hopefully this help other user to start using bootmenu.
I'll upload recovery screenshot for aiding your effort.
Thanks
Here the link for recovery & bootmenu screenshot (High resolution) - link

Thanks for that screens. I'll add them, when I'm back home on my PC. That will make things a lot easier for new users

@HSD-Pilot
Can you please upload miui updater-script for miui (it is v4 2.7.20 ?)

Yes, I'll do that later. Meanwhile you can post the Link of the Version you want to flash, because I use MiUi Germany. Don't know, if they got the same Script. I'll edit and test it, before I upload it
Gesendet von meinem XT910 mit Tapatalk 2

So... Isn't this a bit circular? I mean, I have to go back to stock to be "safe" and then ROOT the stock to be able to install bootmenu, so it isn't stock anymore... So... If I'm on a stock ROM, but rooted, do I really need to flash a stock ROM again? Because rooting this stock ROM was a pain. (America Movil ICS MX) so... If I just install bootmenu as it is, could I have trouble? Great documentation btw! Convinced me to finally try out some custom ROMs on my RAZR.

I'm not really know what you mean?
An rooted Stock is still an Stock in my Eyes
If you're currently running an XT910 GSM ICS Rom that's rooted you're good to go.
Download Boot Menu and set it up.

It's only zipped to keep the format. Just open this zip & the MiUi zip and drag and drop it into the MiUi zip

It's just that some Stock Gingerbread ROMs had problems and errors updating to ICS via RSD Lite if they were rooted or had frozen/removed apps, I thought maybe this could happen, but that makes it clear then, Installing bootmenu now.

BootMenu only replace/change 3 files of your stock rom.
When you hit uninstall hijack button, it will be revert back to stock ICS.
p/s : This is one of the first thing I've think when start making this app.
I don't want to be the cause for "can't apply OTA" problem.

Sorry for asking so many questions but there's no such thing as too sure with a device with a locked bootloader. ): Anyway, does this mean that I can, for example, flash MIUI over Epsilon without going back to Stock via RSD Lite or it works only for different versions of the SAME custom Rom? (Say, Epsilon v4 can be flashed over Epsilon v3 after wiping, but not MIUI over Epsilon.)

No, it means you can flash rom regardless of rom autor. You can flash miui over epsilon etc just need to wipe data-cache-dalvik.

Cant flash AsiaRetail fastboot via RSD5.7, it said "too large file" or something while RSD decompress the fastboot file.. It not happen with en.EU
So I'm using AlternatifFla****, but it cant flash my webtop..

[How-To] Get Cm7 by Jerpelea working without any known issues = no WLOD)

Cause of I read it from many users, that they get WLODs anymore on the newest Cm7 release from J and I haven't problems, I'll share a list with steps to install it, with that it worked for me perfectly.
If you have a working Recovery you can start directly with step 6
1. Flash with Flashtool a stock firmware
2. Boot up into stock
3. Activate usb debugging
4. Root it (connect phone with activated debugging mode and press in flashtoll root)
5. Install FreeXperiaRecovery (connect phone again, click "ask root permissions" and then click on xrecovery button)
6. Download the Cm7 rom form here, and the two files from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073859
7. Copying all files needed for flashing the rom on your sdcard: Cm7 rom and the Screen off fix
8. Reboot and check if you can enter Recovery
9. If not, start at the point where you install it via Flashtool
10. If yes, take out the battery and wait ~15-30 sec.
11. Now put your battery in again and flash the .ftf bundle from the thread i linked above
12. If it flashed succesfully reboot and enter Recovery. Make ALL available wipes (full wipe, wipe cache, wipe system, wipe battery stats, wipe dalvik cache. I think that are all, right?) Now DON'T reboot before you made the next step, cause you have to start from zero if you reboot before making the next step
13. Flash the Cm7 rom
14. Flash the screen off fix
15. Reboot and wait until you get into the rom.
Note:
I know that J provides a own Baseband package, but i use this .ftf bundle, where I mixed the 435 Firmware parts with the amss.sin of the bb.52 bundle available in the bbcollection thread and I haven't any problems with this and on that way, you haven't to flash always the normal and the modded bb if you switch between roms.

I have runned this way J020b, I would try the c, but I can't! It's bad, but my phone is at the se service point for repairing it. But if I get it back, I'll install directly the latest Cm7 version again.

Hey, just for clarification - I thought it was never a good idea to use the option
"format system" in the "partion tools" sub menu of xrecovery?
Doing this will erase everything - including xrecovery itself [self destruct] and therefore the user would not have any option except complete reflash if anything were to go wrong with the subsequent install.... ?
Correct me if I am wrong.
Edit: if this is what you meant by "wipe system" in OP !

Yes i ment this.............maybe you're right, cause it will be formatted by installing the rom, too.........hm..will correct op.
Edit: I made it that way always, and had never problems, so i haven't thought about it.
no its COMPLETELY fine to format system AS LONG AS, you flash the rom RIGHT AFTER (DO NOT REBOOT THE PHONE BEFORE FLASHING ROM AS RECOVERY WILL HAVE BEEN ERASED).
When you format system, and install the rom, the rom has recovery built into it as well and it installs the recovery to your system partition when you flash the rom.
So as long as you dont reboot after format system and install the rom first, your fine.
Hello 9lukas5,
I thought I might mention that I've finally managed to fix my wlod but by installing setcpu on the earlier version of J's rom I was using, and setting it up to on boot run the processor at the usual 998 speed. Then I flashed the update.zip (from j's latest release, just formats the system) which didn't remove setcpu so the cpu was running at 998, this stopped all the random reboots and wlods.
I tried for a couple of weeks to use an update, trying so many different ways of stopping my phone being unusable as soon as I flashed the updates due to wlods.
Just though I'd mention it in this thread as it was on topic. Not everyones fix I'm sure, but helped me.
Cheers for all your support and help with installing the roms.

K - Right on, ty. Just so it's out there and people know ;-)
I believe the majority of WLODs are to due with the CPU constantly running at full speed.
I was getting a lot of WLODs with FreeXperia Kernel-10 on my ROM until I manually set the CPU governor to on demand.
Just go into Cyanogen Settings and change the CPU governor to on demand (it probably already is set to on demand, so change it to something else and then change it back to on demand).
After that my CPU was running at more than the max frequency and I haven't had many WLOD's (think I've had one since, a major improvement).
Erm not to be funny but their are no WLOD due to the changes J has made in his new version, regardless of how I flash it, no WLOD anymore... It has nothing to do with the way you flash the rom that caused this...
Hi guys,
I have follow ALL step from the step 1.
The phone boot, ask for the PIN code, then the page to change the language and then WLOD...
Do you think it come from the CPU frequency ?
I can't found the BTS kernel for this ROM.
Thank you for your help.
hmm....I shared it cause I hadn't any problems of WLODs yet on Cm7 since J019
Hello all,
the main trouble I had causing wlod, was definitely the clock speed. When I flashed the rom (about twenty times, different ways) I would not get enough time to configure any cpu settings, or any other settings, before my phone crashed and it would just start to bootloop with wlod.
I had to install setcpu on an older version of j's rom which didn't have overclock. Checked the box to apply settings on boot. So that when I flashed j's latest rom which is just the update of the system, all my apps were there (didn't bother wiping cache, data, etc) setcpu was still running on boot to keep the cpu set to 998.
Haven't had a single problem since, apart from low battery phone crash.
I tried so many different ways to flash before trying this, hope this helps someone.

Where to start.. In CWM after save villain on SD, just flash update.zip?
Coming from Another ROM
Ensure CWM recovery is available, do a CWM/nandroid backup and titanium backup, and put the zip onto the root of the internal SD.
Enter CWM, carry out a factory reset, and cache wipe, and flash the ROM via "Install zip from SD" option.
Reboot the phone into VillainROM, bearing in mind the first boot may take some time on the boot animation.

CWM recovery?

Is there a guide somewhere for how to use it?
If i want to flash a rom etc how?
How do I enter recovery and exit it?
Sent from my Xperia S on which The Kernel has been installed but he bought no chicken.....
1. enter recovery: spam vol + while the Sony logo is on screen
2. move into recovery: use vol up and down to navigate and Power to chose opionion
3. exit recovery: if you are somwhere intoe recoery, use the ***go Back*** function and if you are in to the first screen use ***reboot into System***
4. Flash a Rom: the rom must be as a zip file on the SD Card from the phone. boot into recovery and use "Install zip from SD" and then "chose Zip from SD", search the Rom and press yes, install the rom"
5. if you want to a real proper install, chose first "wipe Data/Factory reset" and say yes and go then to Advanced and chose "whipe Dalvik Cache" and say yes, and than look to the point four. Point five is needet if you downgrade a system or if you chose a complet different Customrom from tbe installed rom. if you update or want to repair a installed rom, Wipping data/factory reset is not needet, maybe Wipe dalvik-Cache also, but the Dalvik Wipe destroy no one of personal dates and to wipe them help to boot all apps proper
this are the important option of CWM, the most needet
Thanks! If you install a rom using it, say an ics update comes out, will i lose root like if you use flashtool? Or from now on will root and recovery stay no matter what?

Root and recovery will stay as long as you flash from recovery. Recovery is a part of the kernel image, so flashing a new Android version or using flashtool will replace your kernel with a different one that is not guaranteed to have recovery. This is only true for Sony devices, as most other vendors use a separate place to store the recovery files which means whatever you flash it should still be there.
So I'd have to flash a custom rom next as if i flash a sony one the kernel and recovery will be replaced again?
Sent from my Xperia S on which The Kernel has been installed but he bought no chicken.....
well excuse me i'm not so PRO in ROMs but i've tried at least
i don't think if you flash a custom ROM would remove recovery ... cuz when you flash a custom firmware you are using recovery with a ZIP file in your SD card to do so .... there are a lot of hard not understandable tutorials to tell you how so you just gotta try and i've always got a boot-loop and it SUCKS . thanks

So I installed Paranoid Android 2.9.9 from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765185
I installed the rom and also
Flash Bluesleep Fix:
Options Chooser
The roms starts withouth gapps , and using the option chooser wont install them ,
I dont know if it s because og my clockwork recovery version, I had a 5.0 something and reading I moved to a 6.0.15
when I run the gapps installation file Options_Chooser_JB_Version_4_Olympus gives me status 0 at the end
somtimes when I reboot the romm I get the signed (updating andrioid ) and the sign counts like its installing the apps, and in fact some of them get installed like the not google ones, but cant get to install the playstore or the gmail one.
the only thing that I want is to be able to get netflix to install it on my lcd, didnt know it was that difficult. any clue ?
did you try wipe dalvik and cache, maybe a factory reset prior flashing gapps, and then clean dalvik and cache would help , somewhere ive read that a X2 flash rom X2 flash gapps X2 wipes could do the trick
sent from the gray stuff inside my skull

had the exact same issue ! >>>follow those steps and you will have a 100% workin Paranoid<<<
1st : do you try coming from another ROM ? Did you wipe/Fresh, or you are actually updating ?
2nd : th3bill actually are working to make the option chooser smaller since it is too big for our atrix system partition
3rd : just go to paranoid thread and see what ive done if you absolutely want that option chooser to work (NOT RECOMMENDED as it cause issues)
Workaround that really works no problem : go to recovery now that you have a fully working paranoid 2.9.9 that dont have any gapps and flash without wiping everything (that will NOT erase your app.. Just the ROM)
Reboot into Recovery
THEN :
Recovery>wipe CACHE partition
Recovery>advance>wipe dalvik cache (then go back)
Recovery>mounts&storage>format /system
Recovery>mounts&storage>format /preinstall (then go back)
Recovery>instal from sd card (external or internal, as you wish) and isntall Paranoid 2.9.9
>>>DONT REBOOT<<< at the end of aroma installer (uncheck the lil dot) then press finish (that will put you back in recovery)
back to recovery, go to advance again>fix permission
THEN,
Flash blusleep fix
flash Epinter's gapps (that will be FULLY compatible)
Let me know if you made it work
P.s.I had once, some issue with the playstore (i didnt wipe clean since 2.5.2) Force closing at the boot of the ROM and then, was unable to open at all !
If it happens on you, just go to system settings inside the rom>application>google playstore>erase Data>uninstall updates>reboot, it shoud do the trick
Plz, Hit the tanks button if i helped you

Thanks sathelate for this tutorial.
I've tried a number of times to install this ROM without success. The last time my power button stopped working.
Do I need to run the Aroma prep before install?

nah, you need to flash aroma prep only once if you didn't switch recovery
Ouch :S is your power button ok ?! :S
Flash romracer recovery wich you can use capacituve button (menu:down,Home:up,Back:back,Search:enter) (is you change recovery, you will need to flash aroma prep back, then restart recovery before flashing
Let me know
It worked thanks for your tutorial, now I'm trying to run Netflix, you know off there is any setting to set, cause I open the app and close immediately, I'm not alter to even login or anything, just black screen and I get back to the menu, any clue on this?

I really want to make this to work, soo, let me know if you find anything on your side, and ill let you know on mine
I had the same problem, just installed gapps frontera Epinter and that's it. Check the post of the Paranoid ROM theres a user that post those gapps.

The power button behaviour has become very random and strange.
With the successful insatll of this rom I had to install "Button Remap apk" which set the search button to lock screen and longer press brings up the power button menu of reboot etc.
However with this rom the music player and the one I installed did not recognise a whole batch of a particular music file. So I went into recovery to restore a previous CM7 backup and hey presto the power button worked when selecting options. So I did the restore. The power button worked a couple of times then nothing. And the "Button Remap app" dosen't work in CM7.
I think the Aroma prep was the culprit.

[Q] How to Install SuperNexus 4.0 - I9100 - Build 1

Hi!
I'm a owner of Samsung Galaxy S2, GT-i9100. I always installed a stock unbranded firmware. The last firmwares I installed using MobileOdin from phone. I'm not at advance user for flashing and modding the phone. I never do a wipe or something more advance. My phone is rooted, because MobileOdin allow that.
Now I would like to install the SuperNexus 4.0 - I9100 - Build 1 firmware. I thinks is I looking for a lite firmware with out bloatware and a update Android version.
Reading the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583611 I have some doubts.
The instruction are:
Instructions:
First time installing SuperNexus 4.0 to your device, or coming from another ROM:
- Copy Google Apps and SuperNexus ROM into your internal SD Card
- Boot into Recovery (Volume up + Home + Power)
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
- Flash SuperNexus ROM
- Flash Google Apps package
- Reboot your device
It is possible to install the with MobileOdin this firmware?
If not, I have installed: Room Manager from play.google.com (Premium) for my phone, that is needit?
The flash SuperNexus ROM and Google Apps is at the same time?
Thanks in advance!

The instructions are quite simple and straight forward... Just follow it.. u dont e1 need a pc to flaash the rom into ur phone. Y try odin when u can do it with just the phone???
And Rom manager is not needed for this..
Turn the phone off first. And then boot(turn ur phone on) into recovery mode as mentioned in the instructions by keeping al 3 buttons(vol up + home + power) pressed..
ur phone then boots into recovery.. 'Wipe data and factory reset' option can b seen right ther.. Jus select it..
once done,
(u might hav to flash a kk supporting kernel b4 flashin the supernexus rom.. u can get this here.
Flash tn from ur sdcard by selecting 'install zip' option and selecting the kernel file. Once done, goto advanced->reboot recovery. Once it reboots,)
goto 'instal zip' again and select the supernexus rom zip file there and wait for it to complete flashing..
then goto advanced->wipe dalwik cache.
then flash gapps in a similar way and again wipe dalvik cache and then reboot system from main recovery menu.
Its quite simple!
all the best! :good:
^^^^
Good advice.
Also, OP - remove Rom Manager from your phone right now. Unless you'd like to end up with bootloop, busted recovery & possible data loss (caused by not doing backups & having to do a factory reset in order to fix your phone). Rom Manager does not play nice with the I9100.
Thanks! I installed with out issues the ROM. It's great. My major doubt was how to update de CWM.
Again, thanks!
I need to resolve the camera issue, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583611&page=8, the message #73.
I try to delete o remplace the camera apk and is not possible. I am using ES File Explorer with root privilegies but I can rename, delete or copy to /system/apps directory.
I need to use other application?
thanks!
