Well I have received a Nexus with dirt underneath before and had a refund. I never had dirt going under the screen if the screen was clean in the first place for any Galaxy phones. My SIII back cover also doesn't snap in smoothly on all edges, I think its simply poor design.
Please clean the screen before taking photos. It's really smeared.
Go to a dark room (I mean really dark) and check if that 'speck' seems to light or not. If yes, then it's a bright pixel (one that lights but should not)
No matter the picture, I find the TPU case (with plugs for both connectors) does a nice job of keeping dust out of the phone. It even goes over the bevel in the front so if there is a gap there, the damage should be minimised (dust wise)

i just bought my galaxy s2 today , but i noticed a strange circular spot on the lower right side of the screen, it is visible in gray or other dark background and is not affected by the brightness settings. should i get it replaced
Hard to be certain without a photo, but it sounds like a mark from the suction cup used to attach the screen - a few people have reported this, unfortunately. There are photos somewhere in the forum, can't seem to find them at the mo...
If so, yes - return it immediately.

yes, i have the exact same problem
Shame. I'd return it, definitely.
Same issue, white circle in the lower right side of the screen, size of a coin, visible only on a grey background, just like the yellow left side issue. Doesn't bother me in real life usage, but still...

I too have this same problem unfortunately, I asked for replacement but currently phones out of stock here, Waiting for new stock Impatiently.
Was it easy for u to get it replaced ?
my friend got it. hopefully she can get a new one.
Mine is not this prominent though, I dont see it on such dark backgrounds...God knows how many pieces have it, and the fate of replaced piece.
Could be a remnant from production process and oleophobic coating. Glass parts are mostly transported by suction cups and this might leave this "mark" ...........
i also have a light spot on my phone which appears on gray or slightly dark backgrounds. it's on the left side. it does not appear to be the same thing as the one on previous pictures. it's as small as a dot which can be made by a marker.

Maybe you are talking about the white spot in default internet browser. It is located in the left lower corner. It is normal and it's there for hardware acceleration. Check to see if you have dead pixels, if the white spot only appears in default browser than your phone is ok.
mine appears all the time (provided that the background colors are gray and of the same shade). also, the spot is on the top-middle portion (portrait mode) of the phone. example, it reading SMS conversations, background is gray right? i can see the light spot there. i would post a picture but i'm still new to the forum.
Hi.
Mine have that exact circle too =/ .
So, you say it is not burn in ? i was thinking maybe that was because the weather widget sun.

It would be possible for sure, but would be also a big mistake.
It's a hardware issue, not a dust one.

Hi guys, has anyone come across any defect like a bubbling effect in the paint finish of the housing of the s6 edge??.
I only notice it when the fluorescent light at work hits it & it gives off a reflective shine. I've given the phone a good going over and have noticed this defect is on the right side near the front facing camera & then again near the back button. (See picture)
Sorry its not that clear, but it was a pain trying to capture it
What do you guys reckon?

There are little small wrinkles on the reflection. It's not a mirror surface and I never expected it to be. Mine is similar to yours in the same spot but unless I'm trying really hard to see it, it isn't there.

Yes, "wrinkles" describes it better!. Is this a defect in the finish? Its annoying now as I know its there. It can't be normal, as I only have two spots where the wrinkle affect is!.
It's not in the surface of the glass, just the metallic finish. I don't think you'll ever find one that doesn't have it.

I have the Same "wrinkle" marks on my S6 one near the front camera as well, and one above the back button. And three "pimple" like dots near the home button. Not that noticeable though.
Is it fine that the front camera on the s6 edge is not center? Mine is towards the top right corner. Doesn't effect quality. Is yours centered?
It's not exactly centered but it doesn't effect picture. Should I be worried

My current device is relatively centered. If I stare at it long enough it appears to be off center, but if I put it down and pick it up, it looks fine at a glance.
My original device's was clearly off-center, and it actually almost had part of the lens under the "skin" near the front snapper. I actually noticed the off-center camera before I noticed the flaws in the screen. If it had been further off, it would have definitely warranted a return.
So long as no part of the lens is covered, you're golden. These things go through their final paces by-hand and people don't necessarily have the coordination to perfectly position things like machines do. Whoever placed the Samsung-logoed layer on your device just didn't quite align it perfectly. It should be fine.
Do you have the white version?
My rear camera isn't centered. I have the 64gb Black Edge on Verizon.
I'm OCD and it bothers the hell out of me, but I didn't notice until after my 14 day return period and would have to warranty it out if I wanted a new one... Haven't noticed anything wrong with pictures or video, so I'm fine with it for now I suppose. To be honest, the only thing I'm worried about is the Optical Image Stabilizer and it going beyond the black area covering up the lens if it moves a lot.

Did you remove the film from the rear snapper? It might not actually be off-center at all if you're comparing it to the positioning of the protector around the lens.

Aww man. That's unfortunate. Well generally speaking it should be fine so long as the actual opening for the lens isn't covered in any way. It's not going to move anymore unless it wasn't sealed in properly, so it should be fine other than being one of those "annoying because you know it's there" things.

As long as output OK, I don't think center or not is not an issue.
I love my Xperia Z4 Tablet. However the backlight is noticeably dim on the bottom (when in the default landscape position) or the left hand side when in portrait (volume/power button facing up). It is most noticeable in portrait mode when there is a white background (Kindle, Chrome and Instagram most notably). I am willing to live with this issue, but was wondering if anyone else is seeing any issues?
For the price I paid, it would be nice to have uniform backlighting. But I am worried it could be worse on another unit. Expansys has offered me an exchange or refund but there is a delay in availability now that the first lot has sold out.
No problems with mine
I am sending mine back for an exchange. I miss it already

It is not a hardware problem. I see the band only when the bottom menu appears. It looks like the transperancy issue with that menu layer.

No, I think it is a hardware problem - if I turn the tablet from landscape to portrait mode, white backgrounds are gray on the left. Btw for me it's only visible in portrait mode - in landscape mode the menu bar on the bottom is usually black or transparent...
It is definitely a hardware problem and it sounds like the backlight is weaker on several units on the bottom (when in landscape) or left hand side (when in portrait with power button facing up). It is a shame as it is very distracting to read on anything that doesn't have a dark or black background in portrait. Still waiting for my replacement unit As long as the replacement isn't worse, I will likely live with it as I really enjoyed (and miss) the tablet.

Try anything with an all white background. If you open Chrome with no web pages loaded and the new tab page up or Kindle with a white background and hold the tablet in portrait, you might see uneven backlighting on your left or right sides depending on the orientation.
Backlight direction is notable
Got my Z4 tablet yesterday. After reading some issues with the backlight I checked this at my device and can see there is a notable uniformity.
If you hold the device with power button upside, then one can see a thin bright line from the backlight LEDs on the left side, while the opposite screen edge is slightly darker.
It looks like the screen is only backlighted from one side. For the normal usage it is not really annoying, but it is there and you would see it, if you take attention for the issue.
Do other Z4 owners have the same effect?

I have the impression my Amazon Z4T packages was already a replacement from someone else. The box made used look, some scratches and one corner had a ditch.
It wasn't sealed in any way. The charge adapter cable looked out of its the small box. The screen protection layer made the impression it was reattached, a lot of air bubbles were included.
Can someone describe how he found the delivery when unboxing it?
Was it sealed?
I also consider a replacement, if the screen issue is not a general construction feature.
Oddly enough, I purchased mine from another supplier, and also felt the item had been handled if not used. USB cable was out of wrapping and screen protector had signs of being removed and re-applied. I received mine the day after they were available for sale. I am hoping my replacement looks like new and has minimal or no backlight uniformity issues.

I have 14 days left to send it back to Amazon for free.
Please also describe how it was packaged.
Are there any seals or blister foil?
I can't believe Sony delivers an open package to retail stores.
Unboxing videos on Youtube don't show this clearly.
Thanks in advance.

For me:
Not sealed.
Box in perfect condition.
Screen protector had a few bubbles, but not that many.
It was perfectly even on the tablet, edges protector = edges tablet.
Charge cable was in box, but it was wound a bit loopsided. But I think it more likely that it came that way - besides, how many people do even need those cables nowadays? Even if they need them, they likely will not use them when trying the tablet out.
Charge of 65%
Tablet itself:
I couldn't see a backlight uniformity issue, tried it with a white background with 100% luminosity in a dark room. Compared to the Z1 Tablet the screen looks a LOT dimmer in the dark, but I suspect that is more because the Z4 has some auto-dim function there. In bright light the Z4 screen looks slightly brighter.
What I noticed is that the speakers produce a fair amount of white noise. At 10% it is very noticeable, at 50% I do not hear it unless it is a very silent scene and I am concentrating on it. Somewhat annoying and IMO not something a tablet in that price range should have, but not annoying enough for me to play replacement bingo.
My seller is out of stock with a new batch due next week. I'll let you know when it comes. From what I can tell, Sony products are never fully sealed.
Hi, I got the LG v30 yesterday from T-Mobile and today i noticed that the all around the screen there is light bleed . Does anyone else have it. Check in the dim room.

You probably going to need to give us your definition of light bleed because I'm not seeing light bleed. I'm seeing the screen and reflections off of the metal trim.

Thats not a reflection the light bleeds all around the side es of the screen it between the screen and the metal.
I have it but the phone is so thin, I kind of expected it. It doesn't take away from the device in any way for me.
Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk.
I got my phone to do it finally. I had to shut off all the lights and turn the brightness up way beyond the point I'd ever actually use it at in such a situation. It's not really light bleed per se. The screen extends further and is masked to make the aspect ratio but the mask isn't taken as far out as they could have. Or they might have been able to. I'd have to go back and look at the tear down to see what's going on.
In my case the light bleed is just on the right hand side of the screen. I made a video of it here:
https://youtu.be/Q_XXkZnC-9Y
It's visible in any situation with low light. Even in a restaurant at night.

I have it as well. I would call it clouding not bleed though. It's not a bright light leak on the edges of the screen. It's light clouding through out the screen on black when it's black.
Well I have it too. The glass of the screen have little gap between frame on the left side.
Got it on both sides, but not bothered as I haven't noticed it until just now. It's only visible when viewing the device from the back/sides at angles damn near approaching 90°. Not sure about the rest of you, but I don't view my screen from such angles, so for me it's a non-issue. I think it actually looks kinda cool when you look at it when scrolling through a vertical app drawer... feel like I'm in a Mass Effect elevator or something.

The second reply is very informative just in general
It depends on how visible they are with normal vision. Your camera is significantly overexposing the problem (unless your pointer normally looks like the glaring sun, in which case you have bigger problems). The CFG70's I've had looked bad with the phone camera I had at the time I took the pictures. I don't trust camera shots to represent what the screen looks like in reality unless taken by a credible reviewer anymore. Also, you should use a solid black image without a super white pointer the screen is illuminating to give a more correct representation of the back light bleed; the three spots around the pointer look far worse than the rest of the screen, and that could be the fault of the pointer.
Very probably you have the brightness at max on standard response. These monitors are far brighter at max than many other monitors out there.
400+ cd/m^2 is very bright and most people who calibrate their displays turn them down to around 120 cd/m^2 to make them easier on the eyes. I don't agree with doing this on a media screen though as the brightness helps the image a lot in movies and games. Turn the brightness down to something reasonable and most of your problem will probably go away if that is an acceptable solution to you. Also strobing should reduce the brightness and the problem as well if you're willing to live with it on.
I feel for people who can't just return to the vendor. I would try to make it tolerable with some of the above efforts, and if that's the only problem you have with the screen, I'd probably keep it. If you can see the bleed with the naked eye without a camera while watching movies or playing games, I'd consider returning it, but understand that every CFG70 I've had looked similar when overexposed on a phone camera.

IF it doesn't fail IP68, put a case on it. Problem solved. You won't see the so-called light bleed.
You want case on this anyway to protect the glass back.
I recommend this one:

but the first post in that thread has links to very inexpensive cases that will work.
I bought about a dozen case, in all price ranges, and like the Tudia the best.
The gap won't be an issue for the water and dust rating. It looks like it is just the mask they put behind the glass didn't go all the way to the frame while the screen extends further than what should be visible.

Right. There's no real gap. It's just the black masking of the curved glass edge is not dark enough sometimes.
I always use a case on my phone, so I don't even bother standing in the dark trying to find alleged "light bleed". That's not how I use a phone (without a case), so no use trying to find an issue that has no real world substance for me.
(IF there is a gap, and it fails IP68, then of course return it under warranty.)

Hey folks.
I don't think it's a problem It's not actually a gap between glass and phone frame. It's not even actually a leak.
In fact glass has it's thickness, and edge of the glass pane is exposed over the frame. In this conditions glass starts to behave similarly to optic fiber. So part of the light emitted by the display is not let through the glass and starts to bounce between glass edges (inside the glass pane), to eventually become visible on the edge of the screen. If You look closely it's uniform thickness light, and visible in parts where on the edge of screen is something bright with bright color.
So be not afraid, nothing bad is happening here
