when i record a video in full hd or even hd and try to play it back in the gallery, it starts playing and then starts freezing and slowing down after less than a second and then it stops and my phone says that the video cannot be played. it seems to happen sooner the higher the quality. i can also play these videos perfectly fine in mx player. i am currently running meanrom 1.5 so let me know if i should go to the rom thread and ask there. that thread is so crowded as it is and im just afraid to make it even worse or the question not get answered at all since there are so many people asking questions. also, i kind of found a fix. when i go into the video, if i quickly hit more and then select player and then cancel, it pauses the video and i can then play it and pause it or do whatever i want and it plays fine. and i have tried just pausing it when the video comes up and starts playing and it still gives that error after a second or two of being paused. keep in mind this all happens within a second or two. thanks to anyone who helps!

i am on v.1.22.651.3 but i have not flashed the camera fix. correct me if i am wrong, as i am going on what i think i remember, but i think meanrom has it already baked in. but again, i could be wrong. i will nandroid and then flash that asap and let you know if it helps. thanks for your reply!

I'm not running MeanROM, so I would investigate their README of their code and thread, to see if this fix is baked in.
If not (as always) the standard procedure is to do a nandroid, full Titanium Backup, etc.
Then, you can flash at will. It certainly helped me.

I took a look at the MeanROM thread as well, and saw the camera MOD mentioned, but that's not the same as this fix, I believe.

Ever since I installed Bionix v1.3.1 my phone randomly stops being able to play music. It happens every 2 hours or so. I've tried different music players and they all have the error above. The only thing that fixes it is a reboot. This works but takes so long, and I usually go to play music in the car and all of a sudden its broken again.
And its all my music not just certain files. System sounds still work tho, so its something with the internal storage because I don't even use the external sd. I've been trying to find an app or something that can remount the internal storage and not the Ext. SD.
Yes, i've also tried different roms, like Loki, Trigger and others. The other day I ODIN'ed back to JFD and rooted and started all over but the problem persists. I've noticed some other people asking questions about this but nobody has a definite answer besides reboot. We shouldn't have to reboot to listen to music every so often. Some people said unplugging your usb cord without unmounting can cause that, but I've tested it both ways and still the issue comes up. Anybody with some know how or some devs willing to input? Thanks. Running the latest Trigger at the moment if that matters.

They're all mp3's and I used the stock player, the MIUI player, mixzing, mort player and poweramp too.
Have you tried changing back to stock rom? Or maybe trying other formats? Cuz I have no clue... =P Sorry
Delete the twitter app. Mine was doing the samething, now its fixed after deleting the twitter app
Twitter doesn't cause the problem. I've had it installed for months.
I'm having the same issue, but I'm on the stock 2.2 and rooted. There's been other lingering issues as well, like wifi not reliably connecting, the system thinking it's in debug mode with just a car charger attached, and other things that are irritating, but nothing major like that.
I've found something else interesting about this.
The YouTube player also fails to load any videos when this happens - I get the "there was an error while playing - touch to retry" message.
The music player will also still play .wav files just fine - which may explain why the system sounds still work.
I'm guessing that the youtube app and MP3s share a codec somehow, and something is failing to work properly. Beyond that, I know little else.
Yes, I noticed youtube too..I found a pretty quick work around. Download Hot Reboot from the market. You just push the hot reboot button on the widget and restarts the whole system without rebooting the actual phone. Once you push it, it shows you the android boot screen for a couple seconds and then back to your home screen and the sounds work again. So weird. I can't wait until we have a good 2.3 version working, because out of all the gingerbread roms I tested the issue was non existent. Good luck Everyone.
Trust me on this.. you can check my other posts on this same issue... I started getting this same error out of nowhere and it happened all the time... someone said delete the official twitter app. I did and it has not happened since.

And I don't care about these people who say twitter is not the cause. When there is an issue and changing or removing one thing solves that issue... then that one thing was the problem.

I realized that the music errors were almost insync with when i would check my twitter.... or at least I just felt it was, ha. then searching through the interwebs someone else said they were having problems and they thought it was related to twitter so i said screw it and deleted my twitter app and the problem went away.

I've uninstalled twitter but the problem still exists. So I guess twitter was not the main or only cause.

I'm having the same issue with the of mp3 files that I know work but my music player saying "unsupported file".
And yes a reboot does get me where I can play the media file. Also this issue not only stops local mp3's from playing but also youtube wont play a clip, short video clips wont play thru the browser option, I can have ever choose "internet" and the file downloads to my phone (feels almost like I'm back on winmobile 6.5).
I do have the Offical Twitter installed on my Cappy, but as of this posting, I;ve unsinstalled Twitter and when with another app. I will post back tommorow is my phone does the same thing again now that Twitter is removed.

{Edit}...I must say that my phone actually feels more responsive since removing Offical Twitter for Plume but Plumes Widget is not that great all the app looks nice, its been 4 hrs and music still plays from default music player.
I was skeptical about this solution, but I tried deleting the Twitter app anyhow. It completely solved the problem. Bravo to whomever figured this one out.
2 of my buddies have the X2 (kick ass phone) but they're having problems with Pandora and slacker radio. Does anyone have the apk that works?

What problem they having exactly?
It freezes, skips songs, pauses and just plain stops if they turn their phone on. I work with both guys and both are having the same exact problems. They're both rooted, one has stock rom, the other has a custom rom ( forget the name of the custom rom... eclipse maybe). I know it annoys the **** out of them because they use them for music at work.
I thought this was a DX2 common problem? Guess not.

The common problem about music is it constantly skips and stutters all the time.
have they tried clearing data for the apps? I know doing that helps with problem apps sometimes especially if flashing roms. Did they also try uninstall and reinstalling the app?
I don't use either of those but I have before but never had them just shutoff on me.

I know slacker came reinstalled and unable to uninstall but if running eclipse they most likely got slacker from market. If its one of newer eclipse that is. Hope this helps ya co-worker out. Im kinda shooting at the moon but it is a main troubleshooting process I and others use for stubborn apps. I have to do it all the time for market cuzI think google screwed their newest version up. Clearing and uninstall market updates always makes it work for me

I've been having problems with pandora myself. Once I open it, Pandora will log me in, and then I get the music dialog but nothing will play over 3G (didn't test from WiFi, but then again I don't need it from WiFi). Not a huge deal because I have a 32GB MicroSD, but still annoying so I removed it.
(The install for pandora was clean, did not back it up)

hmmm...thought the music skipping issue was fixed with the GB update for the X2....
anyways...am using Eclipse v7 RC and i have no problems streaming Pandora via 3g or wifi...so since they are rooted, maybe you should try this rom(if nothing else works)...its REALLY smooth...much better than stock...

The random site, like NHL will work but YouTube and Blip either don't load, or play for a split second and then stop. Pluggins are enabled, I've updated flash, and I've even done a factory reset to no avail. I've also tried using other browsers like Dolphin and Opera which also don't work. Skyfire is the only one that works but it plays the videos terribly.

is this with the stock browser? stock browser usually plays all flash. opera mobile needs updating for the prime as only sound comes out unless you can somehow press the expand button on the video. that works with YouTube in opera.
have you went to the marketplace to make sure you have the latest version of adobe flashplayer?

Yep. Both of those videos were taken with stock browser. And yea, flash is fully updated.
Weird huh? One would think its a software issue, since video play perfectly with dedicated applications. But for whatever reason, they just refuse to play in the browser

I had the exact same problem until someone kindly reminded me to make sure I had adobe flash installed/updated. I just assumed it was I guess. I don't know. Excitement and being lost in the world of checking out a new toy can bring out the the dunce cap in the best of us. Speaking of me of course, this may not be your problem.

Quite odd.....
Most are able to play all flash videos without a problem while some of us, like you and me, are having problems with some videos.
What could it be?
So I tried uninstalling adobe flash with inentions of reinstalling it but noticed it simply say's "update" when I uninstall instead of "install". So after uninstalling I tried other flash sites that worked before and they still worked despite uninstalling flash (seems to only uninstall an update and not the whole thing?). blip.tv still did not work.
reinstalled flash after and still no go.
Not sure whats up with these sites. They have the same video player look though so something to do with the player they are using? I also notice that in dolphin, where I normally get a green arrow that I need to press first to enable flash on a site, doesn't show it for this video player they use.

As mentioned though the super confusing part is that most people are having no issues playing these videos.....

Well I am curious if they tried the blip.tv specifically and had it work or just mentioned that it works because all other flash sites they have tried work.

hmmmmmm very weird then. And youtube doesn't work for you as well eh? Are you going to the mobile version or full?
Havent tried the full version yet, just the default youtube page. Sometimes it works though on youtube, however i cant control the player at all.
Well I have no idea at all whats going on. My youtube does work fine though which makes it pretty odd. Although I just noticed that when a video finishes on youtube it shows that cinema icon on top of the usual youtube play icon... Still works though

Exactly the same as me. It almost seems like two different codecs are conflicting?....
maybe a rooted device with blocked ads (adfree/ad-away)? this can mess up things, too...
I have 100% the same issue as the thread starter. It is a NON-rooted unit and I am afraid that the only fix would be to actually root it and uninstall completely and re-install but with the ICS update coming in 6 days I think I will just wait.

I'm experiencing severe problems with 3D-video-playback since I updated to ICS last week: They no longer play fluently.
It happens with ALL 3D-videos. Even the ones recorded with the device (BTW: Playback on a PC is still OK. So the camcorder itself is still working correctly).
Once I switch the videos into 2D-mode, everything plays fluently again (even 1080p videos streamed over network).
A complete reset didn't help either (but at least the calendar works again!
I guess there is no hardware defect and I'm not asking for a fix here. I was just wondering if someone else experiences the same problems.
My device: EVO3D GSM unbranded, larger 2048-2nd sensor

The Evo's 3D-photo-quality is just unbelievably bad. And video-recording in real life does ALWAYS suffer from sudden FPS-drops. Not only in dark scenes, but also with fast motion and flashing-lightsources. The firmware seems to be total crap. I'll probably not buy a HTC phone again.
It already wasted a lot of my time just because it does not work very well. I even started to write my own native-camcorder app (but hoped ICS would fix most problems). I hate apple, but at least their phones work.
Yea.ics has ruined 3d vdo playback.its not really choppy.bt there is micro stuttering which takes the fun out of it.yea should have gone for lg.my fon suffers from light leakage and dust inside screen.and where i live there is no warranty on htc phones.so pretty scrwed i guess.since the ics update as the 3d playback has gone bad i now really regret buyin it.

Try installing something like 'system tuner' from the market and set the governor to 'performance' or/and setting the second core to 'always on'

haven't rooted the device yet.
anyways: playback of 3D-1080-videos in 2D-splitscreen works. So it's not a CPU/GPU-performance problem.
They must have done something wrong with the split + sync of the source-material...
Damn, thought it was just a setting I'd messed with and would eventually find. Please keep us up to date if you find a fix...
Ha thought it was me can't play any mp4 vids even on ms player I'm in chubbz boost ics data speeds are crazy good but Ive had some camera problems and now can't do any video playback... I'm goin back to 2.17 based gb
I thought it was a flash isssue so of course wiped and flashed even changed from 4 ext recovery back to Twrp touch still nothing waiting for this gb Rom to finish going back to synergy
Try installing an app called SD speed booster. Then set the read ahead speed to 2048 or 3072 and see if that helps. If any of you guys have system tuner its an option in the tweaks settings. Also select apply on boot. Hopefully that will help. Let me know if it does. Also you have to be rooted to use both apps.

I tried some other players and now I'm sure there is something wrong with the HW-decoder (since 4.0.3!)
All HW-players show the same behaviour:
- 2D-splitscreen playback @ 30fps = OK (e.g. with that chinese 3dvplayer)
- Switch to 3D => Drop to ~15fps
And sadly there is no software-player that is capable of 720p-playback. The FFMPEG guys should really invest more time in GPU and NEON-ASM ;-)
The bottleneck must lie somewhere between the decoder and the display-driver.

Tried installing Superuser from the apk which seemed to work, but the pref I needed didn't show up (something to do with tuning/syncing USB?).
Any instructions for an easy method (or complicated, as long as it WORKS!) please, stock ICS.

If you have 4ext recovery installed just install superuser from the actual recovery. boot vol-down+power, select fastboot then recovery.
If you have standard htc recovery you'll have htc unlock and use the fastboot command from your pc ... from dos prompt type 'fastboot boot recovery.img' (have custom recovery.img in the same directory as your running the command promt from)

If you have standard htc recovery you'll have htc unlock and use the fastboot command from your pc ... from dos prompt type 'fastboot boot recovery.img' (have custom recovery.img in the same directory as your running the command promt from)

Hmm, 4ext didn't work for me, but hearing of HTC recovery led me here - how-to-root-evo-3d - from where I sort of managed it. Anyone else trying it, you won't need HTC's entire SDK zip, all neccesary files are in the one from that link. Also, pay close attention to the comment from a user about step 18 - the ...shooter.img needs to be ...shooteru.img from here - shooteru.img.
So I appear to be rooted now, only there's not much I can do as I appear to have lost my internet settings - I get 'Limited Service' on startup, and no connection at all (I have no Wifi).
Nevermind guys.. figured it out.. check your SD cards my problem was I had gotten a 32gb SD card with no class switched back to my 16gb class 4 and everything just works 2d playback of all types now 3dvplayer actually works I've downloaded acoupl movies no need to get sick flux VIP I think
So guys check your SD cards 10 is best and fastest data transfer

That's good news, I'm about to get a class 10 card.
My connection problem is sorted too, turns out Tesco's service chose the exact moment I rooted my device to go down. Imagine the odds of that! You wouldn't believe the time / data / hair I lost trying to figure it out, and potentially dangerous things I did to my poor lil Evo!

I'm new to this phone and getting the same choppy 3D video playback problem on my ICS 4.0.3 EVO3D too. Been a year, so did you guys ever get a solution to this issue or is it still with us? I tested with a class 10 card already and made no difference to choppy 3D video playback. (besides I think cautious911's class 10 card solution is for an entirely different problem of not being able to play back "any" video rather that the issue of the thread title relating to "Choppy 3D-video-playback")

The Evo's 3D-photo-quality is just unbelievably bad. And video-recording in real life does ALWAYS suffer from sudden FPS-drops. Not only in dark scenes, but also with fast motion and flashing-lightsources. The firmware seems to be total crap. I'll probably not buy a HTC phone again.
It already wasted a lot of my time just because it does not work very well. I even started to write my own native-camcorder app (but hoped ICS would fix most problems). I hate apple, but at least their phones work.

If anyone on the EVO3D with stock 4.0.3 who can report they can playback 3D video recorded by the phone itself or 720p 3D downloaded video from youtube (via tubeMate app) and view it without dropped frames I'd be very interested to hear it.
So from the lack of replies, I have to presume everyone with an EVO3D on stock ICS4.0.3 suffers from choppy 3D video playback.

Do you mean complitely stock ICS (non rooted phone) or stock based? Because not too many people here have stock phone
I'm on SuperLTE SVN 127. Camera works well but when I switch to video I can't record and camera is unresponsive until I reboot. I can do things like hit the auto flash icon and switch between modes but can't get to the menu or switch back to picture mode or actual shoot any video.
Previous to this I was on CM10. Camera with video worked ok. Wiped everything I could from TWP, flashed superwipe, reinstalled superLTE, installed other sense roms still the same issues. I also cleared camera and media data in settings.
Anyone have any idea what else I can try?

also another symptom is that I can't play any videos from gallery. Nothing I download or things that were recorded on the phone when video worked. But it will play in bsplayer.
Are there any logs I can check for errors?
Im sorry that it was so hard to read the op and see that rom uses the sense 4.5 camera which will always freeze when switching to video unless the phone is already in landscape mode. im sorry if if this sounded mean but im tired of people not even reading about the rom that they install before saying they have problems. DO SOME RESEARCH before starting a new thread, and always read the original post about the rom before you install.

Be as mean as you'd like as long as you post something useful. This is the Q&A section. I'm not ****ting up someone else's post asking stupid questions. I always try to figure it out on my own first.
You make it sound like the OP of the superLTE rom makes this clear. Yes it does mention the 4.5 camera but it would be helpful if they had a known issue section at the bottom. Notice I didn't say should, just that it would be helpful. Anyway, I've tried other roms, including rooted stock and get the same issues with the camera. Switching to video in the sense 4.5 camera in landscape just crashes instead of hanging and then I can't reopen the camera.

If i was you i would not use the sense 4.5 camera until it is 100% bug free.
Hi, I'm the OP of Super LTE, I'm not sure about those issues, BUT I'm on the latest revision, 149 I think, we updated the camera apk yesterday or two days ago, and I literally just TRIED to crash the camera and couldn't. I took pics, switched to video, took video, viewed video from the gallery, took burst pics, took more video then used capture tool while watching from gallery, rotating between land and port all the while, etc. Please try the latest and see, also, please post issues in thread (or response to my post here), we rarely venture out of the dev section
