Trident kraken 2 case/ electra - Motorola Droid X2

I recently got my Droid X2 and love it but being in the automotive industry im worried ill drop it or it will slip out of my pocket while im working around the cars in the shop. Ive seen a friends otterbox defender and i just dont like how the rubber will come off and you have to push it back in the little grove on the sides. Ive seen the Trident Kraken 2 and Electra, on amazon it says they are both 1 inch thick, i want to know is there any difference in thickness between the two, also on the Electra where you cant use a battery door im worried water or moisture will get to the inside of the phone and mess it up. If anyone can clear a these things up thanks i need a case soon.

Ive had the Electra for months now and I'll never look back, never had a problem with it, i charge my phone every other night and necer come close to it dying. It will NOT be sliding out of your pocket (we wear the same "jumpsuit overalls" in my line of work) unless you plan on being completly upside down and getting shaken at the same time

Ive been looking at amazon over the past few days and the kraken 2 is 29$ currently and the electra is 50$ currently, i charge my phone every night but from 7 am to 12 midnight i have about 30% left to 45% left of the battery, it depends on how much i use my phone per day for calls and such. The only thing pushing me away from the electra is the battery is kinda exposed, im just worried about mosturie getting it and messing up the phone, it looks like theres a little bit of rubber that the outside shell can press against to keep stuff out but thats been in the back of my mind thinking about the cases. On amazon the kraken 2 is 1 inch thick and the electra is also 1 inch thick? If you dont mind LordRalh3 meassuring it for me just the thickness is all im kinda worried about. Thanks, and i do have the get under some cars on a creeper is the only time im worried about the phone sliding out of my pocket.

I dont quite follow, there is no case that is actually waterproof? Ive never used my phone while swimming or playing in the rain and i dont recommend anyone doing that, ive not had a problem with moisture even in 90%humid with me sweating for 12 hours straight... Just under 7/8 of an inch thick and as to the battery being exposed.... Not sure what you mean, this is the most protective case made period, including otterbox, original kraken, liquipel, z shield, or any other things you've seen. The kraken 2 got horrible reviews btw, doesnt snap together properly and wears out quick, kraken original or electra is what you want.
And the creeper under the car is a non issue you'd have to litterally be upside down and getting shaken for this to fall out
Sent from my MB870 using xda app-developers app

Thats not as thick as i thought it would be, im starting to lean toward the electra, i guess im just more protective about my phone. Im gonna try to keep my x2 for as long as i can. The only two complaints ive read about the electra is the proximity sensor hole can get some dust in it and the sensor wont work, i can just blow that out no big deal, but ive also read where the screen protector on the electra sometimes wont let me pull the notification bar down. Thanks for the help though i just want buy something that is going to be good, cuz money dont come easy nowadays.
I would buy it now but the price went back up :/

I broke down and bought a kraken 2 case and love it, I would have likes to get the Electra but I needed a case quickly and didn't have much to speed but Ill keep my eye on the Electra and might buy it down the road.

Defender Series otter box is crap

I have had it for ONE day(got it for xmas) and it got a big scratch on the screen pretender. just because of car keys. my SGS2 was in the same spot with them with NO CASE and has a micro scratch on the "cheep" back.
Comments, Would you be a bit mad too?
It is true the defender case and built in screen protector don't make sense. I ordered one for myself and one for my brother, took one look at it and said this is not going to work, right back in the package it went.
Why do people insist on putting their keys anywhere close to their phone???????!

Returned mine too, didn't like it at all.
I will live with it, but will likey never buy a phone case again or any thing otter box.
I guess I'm the minority because I love mine and wouldn't have my razr without it!

I don't understand why anyone puts any cases on phones and tablets. Manufacturers go through alot of trouble to design and make cases like the razr with a kevlar back and we go put rubber on it.
It reminds me of when my parents used to put horrible seat covers on everything we sat down on. We got to feel and look at horrible green plastic and when we sold it for nothing later on, that's when we got touch and see the beautiful patterns and fabric we paid for.
Razr's are a thing of beauty to behold, who cares if you scratch it. it's yours right? The screen is gorrilla and unlikely to scratch with fingernails. Just don't do the keys thing and you'll be fine. I've had smartphones since the 90's and never put a case, never had a scratched screen. I've dropped each several times on carpet, tile and such, but never anything i couldn't use it with.
Do people really think they'll get value for tech stuff these days when they sell them? Don't go through so much trouble for the people who end up with your devices when you dump em in the recycled world. Use tech toys today for yourself.

The main reason for me is to utilize the belt clip. Plus I have a bad habit of dropping my phone often and the otterbox has saved me a lot of deductibles.

thx God i found this post before i bought it..
really save my wallet now
As a contractor I need my phone on me at all times, had it with out the screen protector for a while and even my gorilla glass has scratches! Yikes, what scratched it I don't know.
I originally bought the defender, but wasn't very satisfied, mainly with the bulkiness of the case, and I also didn't really like the way the display looked through the screen protector, maybe i'm crazy...but i kept it for the better part of a week, decided it wasn't for me, so i sold it to a co-worker for the same amount I had in it ($31 @ Amazon) and ordered a commuter instead. much happier with this case.
i work in a auto manufacturing plant that is a hostile environment to a high end smart phone. wouldn't have anything less than a defender. never seen so many otterbox defender cases as i have there. It's definitely the norm.

Get the OtterBox commuter case, its perfect ;-)
I dont like the defender ones, way to bulky. I currently use the commuter case. Its slim but still offers protection and you can use what ever screen protector you want if you want.
I agree I had mine less than 6 hours and I had a noticeable scratch. That's why I put screen protecter on the phone plus the cases screen protecter. Just added peice of mind.

Razar case
I have the rzar maxx and I use the zagg screen and i found that Best Buy has a Platinum series for the Bbionic that if you don't use the rubber case the maxx fits in the cllip holster. I like the look of the razar and maxx, so I don't mind the screen protector but like the naked phone look.
Just got the Commuter case, seems fine to me.

Got my commuter, it fell earlier from 3 feet off a toolbox onto some carpet on the garage floor, it cracked the case all the way through in a horizontal line going left from the camera hole.
Im disappointed to say the least, Any other really good cased for durability for the droid razr?
does anyone with a razr and a defender have a solution for the weird shimmering effect the screen protector causes on the display? wrote otter and my first contact with them was met with a standard reply, i don't believe they actually read or understood my issue.

The Naked HP Touchpad

I was wondering if any of you do not use sleeves or cases or skins to protect your Touchpad. If so, can you report on the cosmetic condition or damages? Any excessive scratches on the back, or damage to any of the access slots, speaker, head phone jack, etc.
No protection on mine. My touchpad is kinda my throw around tablet as I'm not as careful with it as I am with my other devices. Had it for about a year no scratches on the screen at all, looks brand new. The back is a different story there are many hairline scratches all over the back and a one inch crack at the micro usb
no protection. i throw mine around.
my only damage is that the plastic right around one of the speakers is broken. at first glance it looks completely fine, but if i move it, it dangles. ill probably fix it eventually with some glue
I dont have mine in a case, but it doesn't get much use outside and I tend to take care of my gadgets, bit of a clean freak.
I worry about dropping it though, having used a 7 inch tab more than this the weight difference is a little off putting time to time
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using xda premium
Had mine since Christmas 2011. I tend to use mine only on the weekends at home. I have the custom case and a touchstone charger. I am extra careful with it and so far I have no speaker cracks or scratches anywhere. Right now I am listening to some old school rock with my Touchpad WebOs only on the Touchstone next to my desktop. Gotta say I really wish that HP would have continued supporting and making these as WebOs and the Touchpad are awesome. If you were to imagine a world without Apple or Android these would be considered awesome. I love mine and even with my Android phone I enjoy each time I power it up.
I've had two and one developed cracks in speakers and headphone jacks on its own.
HP though offered to service it and I just got it back with what seems like a replaced back casing.
I'm probably going to get a case now just incase

Definitely doesn't help that the touch pad is one of the heaviest 10 inch tablets either.

I really don't like most cases because of the extra bulk they create and even though they are protecting your investment, they hide the aesthetics of the product. I usually go with a decal skin on the back and then throw them into a sleeve when I am on the go.
With the touchpad, until recently, I often used the official case and I like it, but missed the purity of interacting with the tablet directly. Without the case the Touchpad feels pretty balanced and even more fun to use. The only thing I have noticed is that the head phone jack opening feels a little rough and of course I am more conscious of the speakers and take more care not to grab it from the bottom edge.
As for a stand, I love the http://twelvesouth.com/products/compass/. A little pricey but compact and low profile with rubber bumpers in all the right places.
Acase
I have used this model from Acase since I bought my TP. It provides some degree of protection from drops/etc., and is functional for reading/using at a desk, in a chair or in bed --- lots of viewing options. Pretty slim case, given other options out there. Holds up good (I've had it for over 8 months). Overall, I'd buy it again.
Acase(TM) HP TouchPad High Quality Premium Slim Leather Case Folio with built-in Stand for HP TouchPad 9.7-inch WebOS Tablet Wi-Fi 16GB, 32GB (Black)
I just did a search on Amazon and you can find it there.
Good luck.
So, it seems from the replies here that the back is, not surprisingly, more vulnerable to scratches, much like the iPhone 3G was. But it is great to know that some of you, like me have thrown away the case (or never used one) and the world didn't end. Just a few scuffs . . .
I read somewhere that Steve Jobs thought that all the covers and cases for the original iPad disguised the original intention and design of the iPad too much. Whether you like Steve Jobs or not, he kind of had a point. So much thought goes into the design of these incredible pieces of technology and yet we tend to hide them with a big case.

I've had two touchpads to date, the first I received with no working sound; took it to a shop the next day and they agreed to replace, thankfully they had some remaining stock. The first did have a small crack from the speaker (If I recall correctly it was the left, if that makes any difference) to the front, it was their upon opening.
The replacement I received had no visible defect, but has since developed a crack on the speaker (very similar placement, but on the other side) along with a crack from the headphone jack to the front. I am incredibly careful with my devices, and this is the first of anything I've ever cracked let alone scratched. It's been in the official case since day one. I do wonder whether the touchstone could be to blame? I have noticed on occasion, in both WebOS and CM9, that it can heat up to an intolerable-to-hold level, to the extent that the device beings to smell (suspect that's the plastic casing?). As it's within the official case, this took me by surprise-- possibly the expanding and contracting of parts has caused the cracks? I wonder if that's a common trend amongst those with cracks and those without?
I'm still happy with the device, the cracks don't bother me as much as they should (primarily because I managed to get one in the firesale) and this is coming from someone whom is particularly anal regarding damages to devices.
I think I am eventually going to get a skin for my TouchPad and then get one of these for when Im not using it:
http://shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-o...aoid=20715&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=FB493AA#AC3
After my most recent warranty replacement started to have cracking speakers in the official case, I super glued the affected areas and threw a skinomi 'carbon fiber' vinyl skin on t and for the last 2 months, I've enjoyed my TP more than ever. I use a $3 Verizon tablet sleeve and wish I had done this from the start rather than using the official case or a tpu case I was using. Also, screen protectors definitely aren't necessary. I have yet to drop the TP without the case on but this skin provides excellent grip and scratch protection as well as keeping the back clean-looking.

getting custom case
I got my hands on the tp late .. been using one since last 2 months .. i enjoy both the webos and android on it ... started using it without any case/cover and the back got scratched pretty quickly (in about 2-3 weeks) ...as for the screen it is a finger print magnet like ipad2 but i just wipe it with cloth when necessary ... did not get any cracks on it as yet but a lot of scratches on back ...i finally ordered the official hp custom fit case and i find it good value for money ...
Same story, glass looks great, back looks like someone took a belt-sander to it. Alright, maybe just an orbital sander.

Even though this is a how-to on restoring an old iPhone 3G back, it would probably work for the touchpad as well.

Review: OtterBox Defender

It's an amazing case. I like it, except the belt clip has failed after 1 month of use.
Here's a photo of the point of failure. I took the phone out which is usually just clipped on just bit past the side of my hip near the back. And it came out with ease, and upon inspection the clip cracked.

I'm a stone mason, I cut stone on a regular basis....I take my 16 part Defender case off about every other day and clean the dust off of it. So I would say that it doesn't do great, but it doesn't suck in this department either.
I also use my holster because I'm just not a fan of putting this giant case/phone in my pocket, but the problem with that is that if you turn it screen out, well obviously that's just bad....if you turn it screen in, your camera is wide open - I usually end up using a q-tip or a shirt on the end of pen or something to clean the dust off of it.
I'm actually looking for some type of rubber plug of some sort to go over the camera on this defender case - no luck yet.
Overall though, I've dropped this phone in the defender a bunch of times on the worksite - nothing bad yet.

one problem i have with this case is the lil rubber flap that goes over the charge port.. it keep wearing down from opening it and closing it.. after a few months it just falls off.. they already sent me a new outter layer and it just happen again!!! kinda sux... i kno they will send another one put it just a pain in the a$$.. i mite just deal with it being off.. i work around dust sometimes but i put my phone in my backpack anyways..
I gave up on my Otterbox cause of that flap. I finally went with a screen protector and TPU case and I'll probably never go bad to a thick case again. Going thin bought a new found joy in my phone. Also that screen protector on the defender was horrible. I totally forgot how beautiful my screen looks without that horrible screen protector.

I used to use a TPU case and the invisishield HD screen protector. Was a great combo up until I noticed the bottom left corner of aluminum was bent. I was able to straighten it out and just recently ordered the OtterBox Defender and despite the extra bulk I am still happy with it.
I just contacted otterbox for another case replacement today. I have ran thru 3 cases and 2 clips now since June. The little dust flap for the charger port snapped off just from normal use charging once a day at nighttime. Still love the case and am definitely getting my $ worth.

Rezound build quality issues...?

Umm, so on the left spine of my phone about halfway up my phone if i push in, the plastic frame flexes, and every time I pick it up, im like WTF is this?
Is this on every rezound?
Its not a huge flex.. but its noticeable that some part is not fitting tight... and this phone is 5 days old, never been dropped..
The only thing i can think is to put a case on it, and it will tighten up that flex....
Anyone else..
feel around the exterior of your phone and see if you get any creaks.
Relax the Kung Fu Grip, and you'll be happier with it (and it will be happier, too).
:good:
I think it's just the way the phone is. I actually got VZW to send me a free replacement cover because of all the insane creaking and it fixed it for like a month now the replacement cover is creaking like mad too. I also bought a 2nd used rezound that came with an extended battery so I now have 3 original back covers and 1 extended. All of them creak like crazy on both rezounds.
But... I always have the phone in a case so I can't actually squeeze it hard enough for it to creak so I've let it slide. This may explain why the back isn't removable on the One series heh.
Thanks for confirming that its not just my phone...
Im gonna slap the verizon high gloss silicone case on it and call it a day.. That should sturdy it up.

Zerolemon case/extended battery, fell off car at 35mph!

i bought the 10000mAh battery with case earlier this year and it's been great. i can abuse that battery like no other and it just won't die.
however, the real reason for this post is about the case.
i recently had a potato moment and left my phone on the roof of my friends car that i was working on. went for a test drive, out of my neighborhood, down teh main streeet at about 35 mph and suddenly i hear a weird little noise and look up in the mirror to see my phone bounce down the back window, off the trunk, onto the street and then into the ditch.
immediately my heart stopped and i ducked into the first turn off i got to., got out and walked along the side of the road, hoping to find my phone, expecting the worst...
Found it face down in the grass and immediately picked it up and turned it over... glass was intact! the plastic frame of the case had one crack in it that i was able to put back in place inside the rubber case. the rubber had some road rash but was overall intact as well. only thing wrong was my Spen was missing as it must have been ejected by the impact.
no big deal as i ordered a new one.
Main point though, this case works!
So close. My UAG had a similar experience. Ran over by a lorry due and as good as new!

Would you try that again if you're so confident that the case works? Personal experience does not equal fact.

jeez dude, relax. it worked for me the one time i needed it. that's all i need. i have no idea if it iwll work again because there's no way to guarantee it will hit the pavement at the exact same angle.
it worked better than no case and i'im pretty confident in saying it works better than some of the other cases i've had in the past that I know wouldn't hold up to the same situation.
did you have a bad experience with yours or are you just trying to stir up soemthing out of nothing?
i read alot of amazon reveiws and forums about this battery .plenty people have dropped there's off scaffolding and at heights ect and survived glad yours is held up but its the battery life i bought this for and its doing really well 19 hours on screen time and 3 days untill charge im really happy .it does feel vey sturdy though it dont have to be delicate with it anymore its like a tonka toy?
Can you upload pics of your damaged case ???
And here I was sure I was alone.
I've managed exactly sane scenario as above and my phone also lived to waste more of my time everyday >]. Thou in my case, ZL casing survived intact. And few years before broken whatitsname holder sent my galaxy tab clothed in otterbox defender through car window on particularly emotional curve. Again, there were survivors.
Those cases work and I can't consider "naked"device complete without one now. And ZL add really big battery to the mix..
