Hi, I saw another thread about this, but it doesn't answer my question.
I have encrypted my SD Card and from what I've red, it will require a password to be entered in order for the phone to use the sd card. It seems that after encrypting the SD Card it also encrypts the internal storage too??? Because if I typed the wrong password, it will say "Read-Only" for the internal memory.
When I boot into Team Win Recovery, the error messages show that it failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid Argument), follwed at the end "Could not mount: /sdcard.
I'm thinking to myself that it has something to do with the fact that I have my sd-card (32gb) encrypted. Is there a way around this?

whats an encrypted sdcard??
Couple of questions : How did you encrypt it? If you encrypted can't you decrypt it the same way... In reverse? If you encrypted within a ROM then go back in and unencrypt from the ROM or stock. Do you still have a ROM that runs or are you stuck in recovery?

I encrypted the SDCard using the meanrom, but everytime I boot into recovery, I can't access it. So I guess I have to decrypt it
Ask the ROM devs, but it looks like having ur sdcard encrypted is not supported by Mean ROM. U will have to decrypt.

I have the same issue, and now i cannot boot back into meanROM. I pretty much bricked my phone.
I need to find a way to format it and remove the encryption. I cant even mount it. Please help.
I heard something about flashing the stock locked bootloader/recovery will allow you to format the encrypted internal storage???
PLEASE HELP
EDIT:
After messing around i figured out a solution.
In TWRP Recovery (Team Win Recovery Project) I went to mounts
from there i mounted the internal storage card and windows said i needed to format it before use.
It got formatted and thus became mountable in TWRP

I had originally run RegawMOD rooter on 1.13.651.1 and the phone ran great. Yesterday, I decided to do LazyPanda S-OFF and then try out some of the 1.22.651.3 ROMs. LazyPanda said everything completed successfully. I went into TWRP, wiped System/Cache/Dalvik, then went to install a ROM but it failed because it couldn't mount sdcard2. I read through the LazyPanda thread and noticed that there were sometimes data loss issues with the SD card - no biggie, I had all my data backed up. I didn't have an adapter on hand to hook up the SD card directly to the computer, so I went out and picked up a SD card + adapter combo.
Today, I put the brand new SD card into the device and boot into TWRP; however TWRP takes a long time to boot. I look at the console spew and there are a bunch of "E:failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument)" errors and even a "E:failed to mount /cache (invalid argument)" one. Of course, this is the internal memory. I'm pretty sure I didn't see these errors last night, so I'm not sure what happened between then and now.
So my question is: how do I get back to a usable state? I don't care about losing any of the data (it's backed up elsewhere), I just need a working phone.

I have had this problem before. It started when I booted twrp without my external ad card, then when I put it back in it recognizes it but it somehow got the sd ext mixed up with int sd so it tried to write roms to the ext sd,no matter how many times I reset it to recovery its still the same. The only solution I have found was to re-flash twrp I was using 2.18 or something now on 2.2 and I would recommend it. Here's how I fixed it easy. Downloaded evo 4g lte toolbox from the lte dev forum (not sure if its the orig forum or not),installed and opened toolbox, installed HTC drivers from toolbox, restart my phone in bootloader (vol-d+power) went into fastboot and clicked on push recovery from toolbox, reset into recovery and viola everything mounts properly. I am htcdev unlocked and I'm not sure if its different when your s-off. You should still be able to push recovery from fastboot. Let me know if this works

When in recovery touch mount and then touch external card so there is an x in the box then back out then touch the second choice thing with like two or three dots and select sdcard. that is what I did
PS: TOUCH SO THERE IS A DOT NEXT TO USING EXTERNAL SDCARD AT THE BOTTOM - THEN BACK OUT AND DO ABOVE.
No internal memory

So are you saying you completely unrooted your phone and went back to step one to fix this problem? I am trying to get my internal memory back myself.
if this happens again, there have been reports that mounting your phone to windows while in TWRP and formatting it will fix the issue. no need to RUU...but atleast it fixed your problem :victory:

I'm using samsung galaxy i9001. Have installed TWRP. But unable to access sd card on PC.
where can I find this format option?
So while I was in TWRP I may have tapped mount twice which I believe screwed up my internal storage. Basically now when starting TWRP it says that it cannot mount /sdcard/. If I try to mount using internal storage on my computer it says it is unreadable and sends me to disk utility. I cannot seem to reinstall from my backup located on my external SD card because the internal storage is not readable. I am on hboot 1.15 and I tried the RUU with this and it seemingly was not working. I would love to take it to sprint but I fear they will turn on the phone and see that it says tampered even though it is s-on. Now if I try to boot up it goes through the boot screens and gets to the final "HTC Beats Audio" screen and then shuts itself down and powers up again. Any help would be appreciated. I have my data backed up so I am not worried about saving that. I just want my phone to work again. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
TL;DR: Phone's internal storage seems corrupted and TWRP can't access it, neither can my computer. RUU doesn't seem to be working. What do I do?

You can try to wipe the card from recovery, it should be a simple fix. Whether TWRP can read it or not, the card has a physical address that TWRP should be able to see

Well specifically under the TWRP dialog it says "E:failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid argument)" and "E: Unable to mount /sdcard when trying to read settings file" also "E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command"
So when I try to wipe internal storage it says
E:tw_format_rmfr: unable to locate volume for device "/dev/block/mmcblk0
* Verifying filesystems...
* Verifying partition sizes
E: Unable to mount '/cache' (tw_mount)
E:failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument)
E:failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument)
E:failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument)
Thoughts on that?

Hey may have just posted in the wrong thread lol
Also ouch, the physical address for internal may be shot if TWRP doesn't recognize it. Try fastboot to wipe cache and then I guess you could try adb to wipe sd though its not something I've ever tried so it may not be possible.

no this just happen to me bu ti just fixed it in a retarted way in twrp i mounted and then my computer said format then i put a zip file on the internal sd once it get s done formatting and i went to sd card and i was relieved
Why didn't I think of this earlier, if the physical address is bad you could repartition the phone it should wipe everything and rewrite any corrupt or damaged areas

I love your enthusiasm to prove me wrong but just because windows recognized a corrupt card and was able to reformat does not mean its physical address isn't corrupt. I've had plenty of SD cards that windows could not read that Linux could and vice versa. Not saying I'm right and you're wrong, just stating no and then offering your solution makes me think you are coming off as hostile

Yea that doesn't work is what I was trying to say. If I mount internal from TWRP I get a prompt saying "You need to format the disk in drive H: before you can use it" with the only two options as "Format Disk" and "Cancel". Should I format it?
Oh, so you were being cautious and searching for other solutions! Finally a user I can admire lol. Make sure it is the right SD card, its OK to format, this is what you have to do when its been corrupted. I misunderstood and thought you said windows would not recognize it at all, I assumed that it was too far gone

no just reformat, it will erase all data on the card, all data on the card including apps and any app data will get wiped, but you can easily restore any backed up apps, if you have any further problems with internal like apps fc'ing or the like you can go into recovery and select fix permissions

you really are cautious, yes reformat as fat32 (fat and fat16 have file size and file name limitations that fat 32 does not) I suggest a quick format just to get the card recognizable again and then reformat the long way, this ensures that anything lingering in the memory that could corrupt the card again is better hidden. I say hidden because each file is given a physical address on the card (hey its written to separate physical parts of the memory right? Are you sticking with me other guy?? Sorry just had to needlessly slam the other guy again) when a file is deleted the information remains but the physical address linking the file is deleted, the information stays on a sector of the memory card until it is overwritten by new data.

sorry for my rudeness dude, I'm slightly intoxicated as of 7:00pm and right now everyone seems to be verbally attacking me (which they aren't, I'm just a stand-offish drunk)
Edit: the gf made me apologize, but that is not to say I would not have done so myself as I sobered. Again dude I'm sorry. And yes I did wait for her to leave before posting the edit, when it comes to her I'm also a cowardly drunk
So I just got back from a trip to Vegas, went to upgrade MeanROM from 6.3 to 6.5, and then my SD card would not mount and my internal storage is not showing. I've tried numerous things to try and fix this, by mounting SD and formatting it (Fat32, quick format off), unplugging and plugging in the SD Card, using a different one. No matter what I do, using TWRP 2.1.8 doesn't recognize the SD card and gives a repeated
E: failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument).
E: Unable to mount /sdcard
Any tips?
Old Twrp ya got....use Goomanager and update...see if that might fix it
Can't even get GooManager to put anything in system cause it defaults to SD card
?? Goomanager install the recovery to the boot partition...you did click menu/ Install OpenRecoveryScript ???
Try flashing CWM recovery and seeing if that helps? My first guess would be to format your internal but since you've already done that I would default to blaming TWRP

CMW is known to damage misc partitions
I just had a similar problem and the only lasting solution was to relock the bootloader, RUU, and reroot. It's easy and the newest RUU isn't difficult to reroot.
I was able to reformat in the internal SD a few times using a PC (before I ran the RUU that is) but it only lasted a reboot or two before re-corrupting. I wish I had just RUU'd from the beginning and not wasted effort with all the reformatting.
I mounted my evo's partitioned "sdcard" but corrupted during a ROM upload. I formatted the internal storage via bootloader and mounted on the PC to access it. However, the internal filesystem is no longer partitioned and now only sees "internal storage" as the only partition. How do I format the internal storage back to before to regain all the partitions?

Thought I'd give it another shot since it was never resolved. I can't move out of meanbean because installing any rom (say cyanogen for example) requires me to flash the boot.img which will not work as the partition does not exist. How can I restore all the partitions on my phone?

Can you post your phone info? Bootloader, radio (baseband) and whether you're S-on or S-off will suffice. If you're S-off you can run VipeRUU. It's a RUU tool you run from your computer that will restore your phone partitions. It will also put your phone back completely stock.

Before I make things worse, can someone let me know what did I do / doing wrong. Then I went to try it again, remembering that i may need to extract boot.img and use fastboot but couldn't even access the filesystem. In TWRP I see a bunch of

E:Unable to recreate android secure folder

I know the mount menu, but what do you click after that, you just plug in and it turns on mount? Sorry i don't have the device in front of me, only a Nexus 4 as of now, but I'm not able to mount with N4, might be a different deal with the evo lte.
I had this same issue a few weeks back from Factory Reseting within the bootloader. I connected the phone to a USB port, then booted into TWRP and mounted the internal sd card. Right clicked the drive from within Windows then formatted it. I unmounted then rebooted back into TWRP and the SD card was mounted. If when trying to flash a ROM after this you get a Unable to mount cache message, try doing a Factory Reset from within TWRP.

You plug your phone in to your PC and select "Mount", then select which storage you'd like to mount.
still can't get to work
Still can't mount /sdcard. I can get into TRWP I have gone into Windows (I am on a MAC) and formatted the drive (is FAT32 the correct way?) When I try mounting the partitions, I can't select SD-ext nor Internal, is this why I can't fix this? I was able to send boot.img through ADB, just testing if this works. I could use some help before I have to turn this over to Sprint and pay for a replacement. I tried Chris V's solution but that didn't do anything. can't factory resest in TWRP cause can't load the /sdcard.

1. what did you mount via twrp? are those cache, data, eemc, system, sdcard, sd-ext? cause i can't mount them all except cache, i can't even click the box with X.
2. i've also reformatted my drive (sdcard) through my windows 7 and make it to exfat.
and all the time i do the wipe of everything that have to be wipe it always says: factory reset failed!

A better bet would be to post in the forum for your particular device. I'm not familiar with the Flare S3 Octa, but basically the steps should be the same. What you want to mount is the "System" and/or the "SD Card". You can transfer to those partitions. Another good rule of thumb is to make sure you're using the latest recovery available. When all else fails, you may need to do a complete reset via an RUU.
