How to re-enable Auto Restore? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

A few rom set ups ago I canceled out of auto restore and ever since then whenever I install a fresh rom my apps never auto restore which is a feature I miss. Is there a way to re-enable auto restore with apps for the Play store?

[Q] How to remove backups stored at Google

Hey guys,
I (without thinking) activated Google backup/restore a while back while wiping my phone and reinstalling a ROM or two. Now it likes to restore 60+ apps that I don't even want anymore every time I wipe my phone. Is there a way to wipe the stored google backup so this doesn't happen anymore?
Same question. I allowed google to backup my apps once, and now every time I install new ROM, I must skip Initial settings and don't set up WiFi, go to Settings -> Privacy and turn on "Back up my settings", then turn off "Automatic restore" and then back turn off "Back up my settings".

Device backup and restore of play apps

A quick question about backing up and restoring play store apps. I have 2 devices, a phone and a tablet. When I set each one up it always asks if I want to backup my apps and and auto restore them when I wipe my device. If I have apps that I use on one device, will it restore them to the other device? I have some apps installed on the tablet that I don't want on the phone and visa versa. I have always unchecked this option when wiping my device. Also does it only insall the apps that you have installed? I have other apps that I have used in the past so they show up in my play account but I don't use.

Are you rooted? If so, you can get titanium backup and backup your apps from each device on your sd card for that device. You can also backup the data from an individual apps as well. This way, you have control of what apps get backed up.
Sent from TPR. The best there is!
I am rooted and I do use TB for my apps and data. I was just wondering how that worked with play store. Thanks for the suggestion though. I consider TB a necessity for anybody who is rooted.

Restoring apps on fresh ROM install?

Hi all, quick question about restoring apps on a fresh ROM install. A while back when I dropped TW in favor of CM10.1, after I flashed gapps, all of the apps I had on TW were re-downloaded, I think maybe through Google Play? It happened automatically, and I was (pleasantly) surprised when all of my apps and their settings were restored without me doing much work - I didn't even titanium if I remember correctly.
Now, I'm trying to move to a 10.2CM ROM and I have no idea how to get my phone to do this again. It was very convenient.
Anyone have an idea how that happened, and how I could get my phone to do it again? One other thing to note is that I briefly tried 10.2 and titanium said that it did not have root access - anyone else have this happen?
The automatic backup and restore from your Google account is dependent on the gapps package that you use.
It should happen automatically after you go through the setup process.

How do I re-run the Android initial setup?

Hi - I want to restore all the apps and settings associated to a Google account, but I absolutely don't want to do a Factory Reset.
I would like to enable ART, and restore all my apps after ART is enabled (FR clears this setting). When I tried enabling ART after the apps had been restored, the phone was not very responsive.
It would be useful to know how to force Google to restore the apps anyways, regardless of the ART test - I have found myself in situations where the apps were not properly restored after a Factory Reset.
Thanks,
GJ

So..., wait. what??? When you say all apps associated with a google account, do you mean all your google apps from Gapps, or all apps that were downloaded/purchased with that account from the playstore?
What problems are you having and with what apps? If you are having problems with say, Gmail or Youtube, what is preventing you from uninstalling then reinstalling the apk's from the playstore? Your settings are already saved with your gmail account, unless you opted out of backing up.

I'm looking for a way to have Google automatically reinstall all the apps purchased/downloaded from the Play store, just like what happens when you start up a new phone.
The only difference is that I don't want to do a Factory Reset in order to accomplish the restore.
Yes, the phone and account are set up to backup everything to Google. The RAZR will reinstall everything after a Factory Reset, but I can't turn ART on until after the restore - because enabling ART will reboot the phone and abort the restore.

You can stop the auto install after a FR by going into playstore>my apps and telling it too stop. You might miss a app or two.
You can also uninstall just about any apps you have that aren't system through manage apps in settings, or if you have TiBu with the pro key, uninstall all user apps in a batch, then reinstall them manually through the playstore, or through TiBu again. You will be able to choose what apps go, and what apps stay.
What ROM are you using? I have been on SlimKat, and Carbon, both 4.4.2. and have no issues enabling ART after full app install. Then again, I use TiBuPro.
What problems are you having? ART isn't 100% yet.

Why don't you use a third party backup app like Titanium Backup. That way you don't need to worry about the automated restore. You can factory reset, enable ART (which you'll probably revert to dalvik within a couple of days).Reboot and then restore the apps.
TiBu is much better than Play Store restores. Also, AFAIK you cannot remove your primary Google account without a factory reset or /data wipe.

[Q] Titanium and play store auto restore

So I am a bit confused about something, so when I restore through titanium backup WITHOUT signing into Google from a from a new ROM install and it installs all my apps, will they already or will they sync with the play store? Also I haven't purchased the pro yet but I will be in the next couple of days, when the play store asks to restore all apps, why not just do that and restore all missing data when the auto restore is finished? What's the difference? What's better? Using play store auto restore then restoring missing data or a full restore through titanium?
