Totally agree. In fact I really can't remember the last time anything/anyone "offended" me, but I was told that I should watch my mouth in public Monday by an older woman (50s) for saying "god damnit" at 7eleven. I don't even think that's a swear word. Think this a is generational thing. It's late sorry for ramnlblng.

I agree with this idea of a generational change. As a teacher (albeit a young one), I see the changing culture in our youth, and there's a new, hip thing to not be offended by anything, not take a stance and believe in anything in terms of morals, rules, religion, etc., and the results are honestly quite dismaying. I'm not looking forward to a world full of people who think that saying "god dammit" is not a swear (no offense). It is really pretty scary, and hate to see where this country is heading. Also, promiscuity is more acceptable than ever, stupidity is praised, and reading is "pointless." I hope to God my kids don't end up like the average kid in today's world I see.
I feel like an old man... And I'm 24, haha.
On a more topical note, that joke made me laugh out loud. While insensitive, it is funny.

Your grandparents said the same thing when rock music and rap music were introduced. Don't worry. We are all still here. Our grandkids will be just fine. If they arent.... Blame the parents.

Well I am quite a bit older than you , travel quite a bit for business, do well financially, and really feel like I get a good perspective from traveling. Honest disclaimer: Bars/hotels/gyms/conference rooms/offices are the places I'm at most . Anyway, I have opinions/morals but just feel there really isn't anything any stranger could say in front of me that would cause me to question my beliefs or cause enough of a reaction I would care enough to say anything about it. I won't repeat the exact joke here but, just today, one of the owners of my company had a joke about the shootings in Colorado and everyone laughed. After making that post yesterday, I actually came to the realization, at that moment -at least in my circles, there really are ZERO boundaries anymore. At the same time, idk how anyone could leave their house that still has a sensitive moral compass. You would be mortified at every single public place you went to. Example: Walk into any gym on a Monday, during the summer, and as long as your ears work, you'll hear some hilarious but apparently very offensive stuff from any college age kid's exploits over the weekend-from BOTH sexes. Any bar-same story. I'll put it this way-what was being shouted between two grown men at a lifetime fitness by me yesterday-made me crack up-but would probably make my grandmothers brain short circuit /explode after she put together what they were talking about. Sorry for long post, Ive only thought about of all this since yesterday and its interesting.

Yeah I'm sure every generation has said that, but there has to be a breaking point somewhere. There's only so much worse we can get as a society.

It is quite interesting. I do agree with your analysis too, and I've seen similar things in my young life. I really wonder if some of it stems from a general decline in religion in our country. I have no proof to back this up, but I feel like there are less and less young people who have religious beliefs, whereas generations prior were much more concerned about it. I'm no religious guy honestly, but I was brought up as one, and it definitely impacted me in terms of morals and respect. I'm not trying to start any debate about religion, because I hate those, but I'm sort of just thinking out loud here.
