WiFi Tether not broadcasting AP - Newts OnE XxX 3.21 - HTC Rezound

Hello,
For the past hour or so I have been trying my very hardest to get the Wifi Tether to work.
First I tried downloading the "Wifi Tether" app from the market, changed the device profile to "Samsung Galaxy Nexus", checked "Routing Fix", changed the SSID and Passphrase. I am able to start the Wifi Tether without any error, however the issue is the Access Point is not showing up on both a laptop and another phone. It's like my phone is not broadcasting at all.
I tried uninstalling the "Wifi Tether" app and installing one from the Wifi Tether thread in the development section "wifi_tether_v3_1-beta11.apk" and "wifi_tether_v3_2-pre1.apk". Neither of which worked. I also tried "Barnacle wifi tether", and could not even get that one started.
Newts OnE XxX 3.21
S-ON - (yes I flashed the boot.img separately after installing the rom)
Amon-Ra
Anyone have any suggestions? Might my only solution be to try another rom?
Thanks in advance!
-Mike

I am running that rom, same setup. I use the wifi tether 3.2 pre 1. Uninstall all copies of it then install that one, set the profile to "HTC Rezound" and set the method to "NetD", check routing fix. Try that

I have a problem with the SSID not broadcasting too on the latest version. Disabling encryption works.

Grab the version in the Wifi Tether thread in the dev section.

WiFi busted :[

So I am rooted, stock rom, using imoseyon kernal and I noticed the WiFi and tether are not working.... When I go to toggle wifi on it just says Error in the settings and closes. Anyone got any idea what gives? I have searched the forms and have yet to see something relating to my issue... Granted I am at work so I have not searched past the first couple of filtered pages.
Did you download the kernel from Kernel Manager? I know some kernels were having wifi issues when downloaded through there.(I don't know if your specific one was or not) If so, I'd try downloading it from the thread here and re-flashing first.
K I will try that when I get home and post the results.
Sweet thanks man that fixed it!

Tethering in CM7/MIUIGB

Hey everyone,
I just updated to the newest MIUI build and its amazing. The only problem I am running into is that tethering does not work for me anymore. I tried the built in features in MIUI, Wireless Tether, and Barnacle WiFi Tether and none of them worked. The guide i followed went like this if that helps (because I came from stock):
1. Flash CWM 3.0x
2. Flash ROM/Kernal/GAPPS
I never rooted the phone if that matters? Either way, im on the ROM with no issues but that. Any help is appreciated!
For wireless tether, go to the settings, and change the Device-Profile to Google NexusOne. Hope it will work for you.
Actually its worse than I thought, I cannot turn on WiFi, its broken? weird..
Its MIUI 1.7.29 FascinateMTD.
Maybe broken in that version?
Fixed: It was the custom kernal. Re-flashed the ROM and WiFi and tether work.

[Q] can't tether on rooted stock?

Anyone else having issues with running WiFi tether on Rezound (stock, rooted)? It used to work all the time, then I did a factory data reset, reinstalled (can't remember if it was before or after latest OTA that was installed), and it doesn't work anymore. I have it set to Galaxy S III CDMA/LTE, SSID changed, password set, router fix on...it says:
"Tethering started with errors! Please check 'Show log'."
...then when I turn it off, it says "Unable to start tethering. Is your device 'rooted'?"
Then it says "Your phone is currently in an unknown state - try to reboot!"
Yes, to my knowledge, it's rooted. I rooted before the factory data reset, and it was my understanding that I should be able to do the FDR and not lose root. I tried a battery pull, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, trying it under different settings, and etc. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
Thanks
Chris

Just found it and downloaded it...no luck. Does it have to do with Verizon's latest OTA? Did they do something to prevent it?

Not sure about it. I am currently running Viperrez. It might be easier to just switch your rom.
Eventually I'll have to do that. Just too chicken now Just strange that I used to be able to do it and now I can't. I wonder if their latest OTA had something to do with it.

I just achieved S-Off a week ago and had the same problems, so I still feel your pain!
Have patience, relax, and do it by the numbers.
You're a little light on specifics so I suggest that you:
Make sure you're on the latest radios & PRL.
I suggest twrp 2.5 recovery
Do a Nandroid backup b/4 you do anything else.
Uninstall the WiFi Tether app that you just installed.
Dump cache & Dalvik cache & then reboot
Test the device's internet connection via your browser to make sure it is functioning.
You will need to enter the device's phone number in the little box in Sprint Zone b/4 you proceed.
Get out of the Sprint page and go to one you're familiar with to make sure you have internet, 4G LTE would be best.
Once you're happy that the phone's internet works, update your profile and reboot.
Install the WiFi Tethering app again.
Follow the instruction below.

The other variable is the device which you are trying to tether. You may have your handset and app configured correctly and not know it because the WiFi utility in your tethered device is configured incorrectly.
A tool that I use every day to jump or kick start the connection between my Evo(s) and my laptop is a simple batch file that I keep pinned to my desktop. Copy, paste to your notepad, save as "Anything.bat" You'll wonder what you did without it.
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew

I wish I remember exactly what I did to get mine working, but I do remember throwing in at least one Fix Permissions along the way.
Failed doing these steps...never had this problem on sense ROMs

[Q] How do I tether my phone over Wifi?

XDA,
I've had the DNA since January and rooted right away. I am having trouble getting wifi tether applications to function correctly.
For example, when I use the "Wifi tether for root users" app and when I start the tether I get a message "Started with errors" and the error is wlan0 cannot not be placed in ad-hoc mode. A similar error appears on every other app I use (tried 6 or 7 so far).
If someone posts instructions or link to a guide to get Wifi tether working, it would be very appreciated.
Device specs:
ROM: nos m7 2.0.3
HBOOT: 1.39.2000
Radio: 1.00.00.1023_3
best regards,
nm1557
I'm not sure about Sense based Roms, but on AOSP/CM10.1 ROMs WiFi tethering is included as a default feature. I know that Hatka Supreme (Sense 5) had it, but my data plan has it enabled even on completely stock so that may be the reason I had it.
