So much ROMs, which one should I use? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

hey there!
My TFP is rooted for a long time now and I'm really happy with it. unfortunately sometimes its very slow and the browser crashes and so on.
I feel like I could use a bit more power - or better software.
I decided to use a custom rom, but there are so many and I never used a rom before.
I'm looking for something thats:
- stable
- fast
- (almost) stock ICS
Please help me choose the right thing, I dont wanna screw up here

For a stable, almost stock experience, you'll need to use either AndroWook or Virtuous. I personally prefer AndroWook, but Virtuous is easier to install for most people.
~Azrael's Kiss~

Virtuous is the most popular stock ROM... Androwook being the most popular overall but with heavy tweaks.
I personally use Androwook, but I always found Virtuous to be slightly more stable.

How is the AOKP M6.1?
In terms of stability how does it compare with the androwook or Virtuous rom?

There are options during the Aroma install of AndroWook 2.1 that would allow an almost stock experience (stock kernel, all the bloat, etc...) and it was just as stable as Virtuous when I tried it. The only problem with AndroWook, the additional install options makes it more complicated to install and provide more opportunites for something to go wrong.

ROM advice (too many)

Hi everyone...
I'm looking for a ROM that is clean, fast, stable, enables 14 toggle in the pulldown menu and overclocking would be nice. I like the look of the stock UI and everything so not into huge custom themes. What do you folks recommend?
Also, I'm a little confused on one aspect. I know I have to be rooted but do I have to have a custom kernel (like hellcats?)
I have been using check rom since i got my sgs 2 its good , close to stock (with removed useless apps from sammy), comes with options to install different kernel,themes,dialers... etc.
For better Battery backup i suggest use 4 seasons rom but its a themed rom not close to stock.
For first time rooting you need to have CF-root kernel.

I've used SensatioN ROM, MIUI & CyanogenMod.
MIUI should fit you just fine, though you'll have to get an overclocking app.
MIUI 1.12.9 has given me the best battery backup & benchmarks till now.
Visit miuiandroid website for ROM download!

MIUI has at least 12 toggles in pulldown menu, I'm not sure, but It's also heavily themed

Simple & Clean 2.4.3
Hi! You might also want to check simple and clean - it offers multiple toggles in the pull down menu, and is fast, stable and bloat-free - many stock apks have been removed and the whole experience is streamlined and close to stock.

What launchers can I include in a rom I built?

I just wanna know what launchers I can use as the default launcher in a custom rom I'm building, without permission being needed.
Thanks in advance
Sent from my LG-E739 using Tapatalk 2
As per common custom followed around here, you can include any free launcher (or free version of paid launcher)...
Do not include any paid apk's in your rom, as that would amount to distributing warez, which is against Xda rules...
- Via xda premium
Like a.cid said, also you need to make sure that the launcher that you are using ic compatiable with the rom you are cooking, for example if you are making a ICS based rom, then only ICS launchers will work with that rom. Some launchers will work with GB, ICS and JB roms.
You could try nova or trebuchet launcher, sslauncher is also nice!
It's gonna be CM7, I'm putting it all together for now and improving on it until I can get a laptop for a building environment. I've tried everything I could to make my device completely lagfree and it feels great for gaming and everyday use, and the battery life and responsiveness is pretty fair, sio is set as the default scheduler, gpu rendering is the default rendering, I've included scripts I found and ones I put together with the help of a great rom dev who also helped with the kernel and the gpu patch, I brought the whole idea about shared the tweak and it was compiled into an easy flashable zip
I'm gonna give proper credit for it of course, and I will promise to release it as a rom built for speed and performance. If anyone can also help improve it along the way, that'd be great, that helps out with speeding things up over time.

I personally like using Apex launcher, but since it's CM7, you should put Go launcher and ADW since they work on Gingerbread.

Why are 3rd party launchers slow and laggy on the rezound running ICS?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I could not find anything. Why do Apex and Nova run so slow and laggy on the Rezound? Is there any way to fix this at all?? I really don't like sense, and I was hoping to just be able to replace the homescreen, but apex and nova are pretty much unusable. Thanks for any and all help!
I'm not really sure what the problem is but one thing that helped me a fair amount is flashing the Adreno ICS drivers through recovery, smoothed things up somewhat. But even after doing that there is still some choppines to the launchers and I'm not sure why.

If you flash a rom with linaro optimizations the smoothness is incredible!

It's but awhile since I rooted and put a rom on a HTC device. Is there a one lick root method, also do I need S-Off? I would like to get this all smoothed out, so I don't have to sell or trade this thing.
launchers not properly configured will cause lag too. no problems on apex or nova. all roms are great. sounds like user error

I am not running a rom, I am stock. Also I know how to set up all of the different types of launchers, so its not user error............................................
Apex user here..smooth as butter, especially with the animations sped up. Like any launcher, it does need to work itself into your memory to smooth out its performance, so initial performance after boot tends to be slightly choppy and then my lag goes away after some usage.

a lot of the times, the sense UI is still running behind the third party launcher. Best thing to do is when you find a ui you like. delete rosie.apk. downside you will loose the sense widgets and lockscreen. if you go this route, it be best to try an AOSP rom.

I would have to unlock before I could root right? I am sorry for the noobness, I haven't had a HTC device in awhile. Also if I do need to unlock where do I do that, and also what do I use to root?

ok so to unlock you go to http://htcdev.com/ and look for the rezound unlock.
they have a complete guide on how to do it with pictures.
after that is done you will need to load a custom recovery, amon ra 3.15 is great.
after that you just flash a rom of your choice.

I use ADW EX on ICS. Its neither slow, nor buggy.
Unfortunately, ADW doesn't work on JB, which means I'm going to have to find a new launcher soon once we get AOSP JB ports working.

You can also run a de-Sensed ROM like NeoMax or Ineff Deus. Ineff Deus isn't advertised as de-Sensed but you can during the install process. Both are extremely solid ROMs.
De-Sensed Ineff Deus with Nova Prime is my daily driver and its very smooth.

Once you unlock and load up a custom recovery (amon ra), you can go one of two ways: root the stock rom manually. Or the recommended method: install a ROM with root already installed.
There are some stock ROMs with root, or if you're going for performance, you'll want to find a good custom rom. Check out the development forum for one you might like to try. You'll want to S-Off, it's not required but it will make rom flashing significantly less complicated. (it seems intimidating, but it's actually pretty easy.)
If you need some help, there's a thread here with some guys who are exceedingly helpful. It's uhhhm... Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1872651

What's difference?

Is there anyone who can tell me difference between oxygen and cm7
There are many Rom but I really don't know what they are different from
Sorry for my poor English .......
Sent from my LG-LU6200 using xda
well, afaik the gb version is deodexed and that makes it faster or something, also, it doesn't have a lot of options present on the cyanogenmod roms
Oxygen is a very stripped down rom, while cyanogenmod 7 has a lot of features. Some people prefer oxygen others prefer cm7, it all depends on what you want. Which one is faster and which one gives the best battery life is debatable. I personally prefer cm7, but they're both great roms and I'd recommend you give both roms a try.
I think cm7 and oxygen roms both are based on cyanogenmod.
Both are great roms try both and choose best suits for you.
There is no theme Chooser in oxygen rom but it is there in cm7.

Both are AOSP roms. Oxygen is highly optimized for speed and being light and minimal as CM7 is for added features.

Is AOKP the rom which has an unicorn as its mark? I've flashed that rom to enjoy 4.0
I like the ROM most
Can anyone tell what its feafures are?
Thx for all your helping
Sent from my LG-LU6200
AOSP is the standard "made by Google" Android project. EVERY rom derives from this. Even the stock roms.
Both CyanogenMod and Oxygen are modifications/branches from the standard AOSP source trees. Both attempt to fix or enhance what Google achieved with Android. The main difference here are features.
Oxygen is more true to AOSP, with a few additions. Lean, clean and pretty fast. When you start adding apps to make up for missing features like I do since I miss some CM features, it does start to slow down a bit.
CyanogenMod (CM7/9/10) adds a whole bunch or neat features you would usually use other apps for to get the same functionality.
AOPK like CM adds a whole bunch of features that are not available in CM and also shares quite a few, Theme Chooser for instance.
Like previously stated, its all about personal preference. Android is about choice, you get to choose what you want your device to do. The best way to find out, is choose the features you need. Test them all and decide for yourself. Each rom brings its pros and cons, which for the most part balances out. Personally I like CM roms because I like the features and they give me a device more capable than the stock rom.

[Q] Best HTC Sense ROM for Rezound?

HTC Rezound
Stock ICS Rom - Rooted 4.0.3 Sense 3.6
S-ON
I'm looking for a new ROM for my phone, because the Stock ROM runs kind of slow. I've tried using Liquid Cool 2.9, but I had problems with reboots. I also could not change the default keyboard to the standard T9/Phone layout that Sense 3.6 has.
I'm having trouble finding a good Sense ROM to try out that might run much better than the Stock ROM. I'm requesting Sense in the hopes that it will have the T9/Standard phone keypad layout as an option.
I use EclipticRez v9 with the latest Lunar kernel. It is by Hawknest in the Android Development section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1962230 The ROM is linked off-site and the latest kernel package for it by Snuzzo is near the end of the thread currently. This has been a very snappy ROM/kernel combo for me. It does have the keyboard/phone/compact layout options on the HTC stock keyboard.
Sundream's Sense 4.1/4.5/5 hybrid ROM has a lot of promise too, but have yet to give it a go. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419155
I would recommend to also consider looking harder for an aftermarket keyboard that has the layout you prefer and add that onto a Jelly Bean ROM if any of those work well for you.

Check PM if a Google search didn't do it for you.
Yes, Camera works well with more features than stock. Camcorder too. The only warning with those is *not* to attempt to take pics during video recording(keeps recording, but freezes display until exiting app), and avoid using burst shots on camera by holding button for shutter (sometimes works, sometimes crashes. No harm in trying on non-vital shots.) These are not features in stock camera, so nothing *lost* here feature-wise. Just don't have the extra processing chip newer HTC phones have dedicated for image processing.
Beats Audio is universal on apps on headset plugin, just like Sense 4 and up. Works fine and better than 3.6.
But it does have the phone compact keyboard? I would love a jb ROM if it had beats and could find the phone keyboard layout

EclipticRez has that layout. Uncertain which JB ROMs if any have that built in; may wish to find one you like first then ask about it for that particular ROM - or just try it. Try out Play Store keyboards as well. Still searching for one suitable here.
There may be Beats aftermarket mods on XDA for JB now, I also suggest the one I PM'ed as well, Viper4Android Audio.

decent sense rom
Hawknest's Ecliptic Rez was updated in May of this year to v.9. and Snuzzo
has been updating kernels constantly - last ones this week.
This sure is a daily user, no hiccups anywhere.
Great on battery with Funky Kernel.
I've flashed most all the custom roms trying new stuff, but keep coming back to ERez.
Another Vote for Ecliptic V9
I'm 99% sure I'd be done with my Rezound if it weren't for this ROM. Definitely a daily driver.
This is a ROM that I'd feel comfortable putting on someone else's phone. On my stuff, I'm willing to mess around and deal with odd bugs, but this is a daily driver for sure.
Sundreams ROM is good too
