Welcome to all Newbies,
We are all happy that this community is getting bigger. It means that there are many atom users now who enjoy this forum and also need some technical help.
I would like to remind everyone specially the NEWBIES:
PLEASE learn to READ AND SEARCH!
The first IMPORTANT THING in every forum (not only here) is to know HOW TO READ specially the rules and guidelines.
Every technical problems that you experience doesn't mean that you need to create immediately a thread for that. There is a thread for everything that is existing already. Its very hard to everyone to again and again answer the same issues. PLEASE TRY TO SEARCH and READ EVERY THREAD that you think related to the issues you have. Wikipage is also another great help for you. Just click here the link above this page (XDA-wiki). Hope this will be clear to everyone. Don't worry about your technical problem, for sure we have a possible solution for that. You just need to be patience and learn to read and search.
Thanks and Regards to all.

I find nothing to read 'HERE' (not much or very little) I mean in this thread. I came in twice, to see if i miss out anything, but it was really a dissapointment here. Maybe try posting more pointer??Where, What to READ??Do more recommedation and give more patient.
It is very very true, that one MUST and should read and read before asking. In other word, do your own searching and do your own homework. But one should be happy for be able to lend out their helping hand. Only then will we be able to make a better world.
Just my 2 cent ( don't be angry.... -- smile -- )
its better to read the wiki here first

im a new vibrant owner.. and i heard about those rom.. what are those rom?? why should i flash them on my phone?? what are the benefits of it?? where can I find all the list of rom?? any suggestions of whats the best rom to flash??? what are you guys using?? sorry for many questions but answering any of them would be appreciated. thank you...
Welcome vibrant is a awesome phone.
Just so you know there is no best rom for all people . If there was we wouldnt have so many developers.
As rom is basically your phones operating system .
Why flash one ? I do it because I like to tinker. These guys often skin the roms much better than samsung.
I also like freedom of choice and added speed boost.
Often times our developers update the roms faster than the companies do!
You will have to try these roms for yourself to see which one is best .
I am fascinated and captivated by the vibrant screen on my epic galaxy s.
Hey man sorry if this seems a bit rude but ,why are you posting such lame questions, when you havent even READ all the avalible info concerning your questions first? Instead of being lazy and asking the members here to do it for you? This web site gets eaten up by precious bandwith by frivous redundant questions all the time that can be answered [most likely] with all the stickys including well thought out bibles, and so on! Do your due dilegence first then if all fails then ask a question here! Most of the veterans here bend over backwards here to help, but when you registered it asked you to read and search first, before asking redundant questions that most likely have already been asked!
try all of them
Careful with your questions, there are some mean people in here. But it is true, read up as much as you can before you ask. Here is some useful information on how to go on with your Vibrant, once you get a kick start, you'll be fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111
Enjoy!
Isn't this the q&a forum?? yes, i did read stuffs on the developers area and sorry for being noob that I can't understand them which leads me here on "Vibrant Q&A" forum. Anyways, thanks for those who answered some of my questions.
Welcome to the forum, my few bits of advice would be before trying any rom read the responses people have made in that roms installation guide. You'll see what problems people commonly encounter when rushing into things, and learn how to avoid them. Make sure you read everything carefully and dont follow directions for any phone other than the model you have.
Be warned flashing firmware is dangerous even when done right. Take every precaution, make backups! Read directions twice! That said, welcome once again and good luck.

OK bro well sorry for leaning hard on ya, you see I myself am a noob here, but I read everything I could , but the key to reading here is to understand the definition of terminology first and the bible that has these terms is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111
Also here is the addy for the first suggested bible to read first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876779
Also here's some excellent easy to understand tutorials: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938875
Look its not that I don't feel your frustration, but ya gotta do some work at this first!
Then if you've made a gallant effort to educate yourself on what to do, then there are people here who will hold your hand as you proceed, some others aren't as patient or understanding, only because they are prolly burned out from all the noobs such as you and I, who have asked questions not really necessary, when we could've answered them ourselves! So with all that being said, good luck and take a few breaths, I myself am still overwhelmed with info saturation and am currently still confused on some issues! But I keep reading and dissecting the info till it gels together in my head, and then I go step by step, but I always make backups and have the proper programs and apps installed to rescue myself from bricking the phone!
I know that some of us here are in a learnin process and some of us here know this stuff like the back of our hand. Am I doing something wrong with the question that I ask? Or with the type of post that I make? Or is it because I am a newbie? Yes, like I said I`m new to of this but want to learn, not a free ride but to learn. Since rooting my Samsung Galaxy S2 I have flashed it so far with the UnNamed rom and ShoStock. Both where pretty rock solid roms. And I did it all by what I have learned on XDA. But the very few post that I have made, to be exact 7 post with not no replys. Am I doing something wrong? Or am I expecting more than I derserve for being a newbie? Oh, I did get one reply! That one of my post where moved but yet not helping me with the question. Can someone, anyone shine some light on anyone of my questions. It would be most appreciated. Thanks so much
Moved to proper section
If you read and respect the rules you´ll understand where to properly post your threads, that way you´ll get the help you need
Heh, looking through your post history you've made threads in the AT&T, Epic4G and now I9100 variant forums. I'm guessing this was originally posted somewhere random too judging by the above post.
Step back a bit, find out your exact model and clearly and concisely think about your problem before READING (not posting) in the correct section. If after doing some reading you still need to post, put it in the correct place.
Considering you are on AT&T and in Chicago, you probably have the i777 if you purchased the phone from AT&T.
If you bothered to read where you posted, people DID reply to you so it just seems like you didnt read them. There is also no point in posting in the General Discussion of XDA if the question you have is about a specific phone. People cant read your mind to know which phone you have, what you did that lead to the problem. Post in the Q/A section on XDA that is for your phone (i777).
After checking the i777 section for just a couple sections, if you actually read the stickies, they provide you guidelines on what to do, so try to at least read them.
Thanks

Thanks so much, i`m am just getting familiar with navigating through the XDA site. I think I just have to get use to how thing are done around here. My excitement of learning something new sometimes gets the better of me. Thanks so much for your input.
Exactly agree with what oinkylicious and Kaze105 say above.
Watch this video. It's not meant to be a slam on you, it's meant to have some self-deprecating humor, and meant to be very tongue in cheek. Take it with a grain of salt, and please don't be insulted.
I watched it when I first joined XDA. And laughed. But it helped me understand.
You can probably answer some of your questions by yourself. Either by Googling or by reading through threads here. Make sure that you don't ask unnecessary stuff like I did

Thanks Rocky23, I learning that more day by day that there are numerous help out there besides XDA, you just have to look for it. Plus the tips and positive comments that I have been receiving from other members are guiding me in the right direction. Its really hard getting into a game and being the new guy. I just have to keep it in mind that everyone here was once new to the game also. Thanks for your comments. Have a great day Rocky.
New On XDA or New With Your S3, Here are few Things You Need To Remember Before Posting in the 'General Q&A section' about your Issues.
Here You See And Learn Many More Things When Your Are New On Xda
A Very Nice Detailed Info By Saywhatt
[HOW TO] make a substantial THREAD, POST, QUESTION and POLL
[GUIDE] HOW TO POST: Understanding the UI in posting
[HOW TO] make a substantial THREAD, POST, QUESTION and POLL
Huge Thanks To Saywhatt For Sharing Knowledge
So Here We Go ,
Well we always do notice that people in the 'General Q&A section' are not putting nearly enough information in their Post and Title to get proper solution to ther issues.
Reasons:
[*] A bad Title like ' plz help', ' urgent', 'phone dead' etc.
[*] No relavent info about the phone Model/ ROM/KERNEL/MODEM etc in there post.
Since insufficient info causes hindrence for members who are willing to help and leads to ask lots of questions from them and the very same(lack of info) will delay getting the solution for you.
So this Guide will show you what you need to include in your post to get the most efficient answer to your question.
We'll start with the Title:
- Just Writing Help , Bricked , Guys Help Me out Wont Be Enough For People Having knowledge Of You’re your Issue To Help You Out.
Provide A Better Title Like
“ I Soft Bricked My Phone “
“ Having Kernel Issues”
- You need to be precise, and describe what you're looking for in your thread.
Next, the Information you need to state before you even get into asking your question.
Dont Start Off Or Just Dont Write 'I Flashed This Rom/Kernel And Cannot Boot Up or Stuck At Logo / Boot Loop plz help' and sit and wait for solution's to pour in for you.
Rather try to provide more basic info like:
- The make of your phone. There are many different variants of your device Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 /G/M/P/T
- What Rom/Kernel/Modem you are using?
- Are you rooted/unrooted?
- Have you flashed any mods/scripts/themes?
- Have you changed DPI? If yes, to what?
- Have you done anything to try to solve your issue prior to posting the same?
since these would be very valuable information,
which do aid a member who is ready to help with your issue for sure.
Additionally, visual aids like 'Screeen shot' or a small 'Video clip' will help a lot in resolving issue's in a better way for sure.
For people who are with Stock Rom's:
Please dial *#1234# and post the results (thanks to fxrb) if your not sure about the Rom/Kernel/Modem info.
And also adding the relavent info of ROM/Kernel/Modem to ur signature will save time in providing the same.
After You Completed The Above Steps Its Time When you can ask your question.
And do Remember:
- Do not ask "What rom/kernel/theme is the best?" -or- Something that you have not searched for (it is infact very obvious if you havent), since its against XDA rule
- Be specific and precise in what you want/need. Do not write a 10,000 word essay, or a 3 word question.
And Always Remember On Xda The Most Important Rules :
- Be polite: People never want to help someone who wont appreciate it, or is rude to them. Remember your p's and q's
- Do not bump your thread: It gets annoying and against the rules
This is just a begining and will take a bit to include all of the information needed.
I know there are lots of more experienced users than I, and would love feedback of what to include.
Please do not hesitate to post in the thread or even PM me with your valuable inputs you think needs to be included in this thread.
Reserved
and another one if needed
and one more
well its a pretty decent effort from ur end for sure Buddy
now its the people (new Comers) who has to utilize the same in an efficient way
and if its made 'Sticky' by the Mod's, will be more helpfull

A useful guide for noobs but unfortunately as is always the case on XDA it will probably get lost in translation and as usual you'll have people on asking the same usual questions, the only solution as ive said all along is when people register on XDA as part of the sign up process they must tick a disclaimer that they need to use the search function and if they don't and ask noobish questions they get a temporary ban for a week and if after that they persist a full ban, it might sound extreme but as far as i can see this really is the only solution to stop noobs from posting the same questions day in, day out, year in, year out, it seriously has to be implemented, many good people have left XDA from when i first came on here because of noobs and to be honest you can hardly blame them, pretty much every answer noobs want is highly likely to already be on XDA somewhere and can be found via the search function.

Hi,
I hope anyone who is familiar with rooting could help me answer this question. What I am looking at is how some of the contributors here are able to create a step by step guide to rooting a particular phone for a particular build.
What are the files that are needed and what are the steps needed after obtaining such files? I am very interested to learn about the process to rooting and would like to seek help and advice in this area.
Thank you in advance!
Yitch
Oh boy. Welcome to xda, Yitch. It's hard to search for stuff sometimes on the xda app (which I'm on), so I can't help point you... But it's here, if you search for it. Please read up on the "New to xda" threads that are also all over here. Because you need to know the better you back up your questions with what u have done to look for the answer yourself, the more potential help you will get with an answer. Search here and on google, you will find your answer. Kind of like asking where to get a cup of coffee when there's a caffe shop just down the street. Also search for tutorials and guides for learning the Linux code Android is based on, cuz you will need to refer to it to really begin to understand. That, and time. Most who are knowledgeable enough to write those guides up so we all can understand have a lot of time logged into writing and editing code...which does not come easy. I guess what I'm telling you is, the info is all out there, but no one will be able to give you a quick and easy answer. This is gonna take time for you (and anyone) to really get a working knowledge you're looking for. Sorry I can't help more. Good luck.
