My s2 is on contract with o2 and next month Im off on my honeymoon with the new Mrs Birdbox to California for 2 weeks
Was looking for some info on a few things really
Can I buy a unlimited (or high limit) sim for data while in the USA? I want to use the phone for Nav (I know the difference between GPS and GPRS!) and general google maps/tripadviser style exploring on foot/car.....I could cache the maps in lastest google maps I suppose but I havent tried that yet, any recommendations of a pre pay sim greatfully received and will I get Hsdpa or just gprs??
we are heading from San Francisco into Yosemite so wifi will be non existant - does anyone know about phone(cell!) service in the park??
We are then headed for Vegas - got the app for our hotel already ...we are then headed for Los Angeles...anyone recommend any good apps to play with on the way?? especially any map apps that download the map data to the phone
any other top tips (phone or not) for what will be trip of a lifetime would be great

goto an at & t store, tell them you want a sim card for their new gophone package. its $50 a month for unlimited data, calls, text. However - it is not designed for androids. if android, they wanna charge you a **** ton extra.
basically just tell them you dont have your phone with you, and the one you do have is a really old nokia from england - not a smartphone but a feature phone.
tell them you want it for that.
then just put the sim in and away you go.
i'm from london and am living in usa right now, I just did that the other day with my unlocked s2 from uk.

its a package that is monthly and you can only do one month if you want... its like pay as you go...
unlimited mins, text (including international), and data for $50 is great even if he only goes there for 2 weeks.
hey, My brother got me a international gsII and if i use it in the US, can get the $10 data plan? i have unlimited family txt ?

Yes because the i9100 is not in AT&T's system. Its $10 for unlimited data with texting, which you already have.

Thanks alot. btw can i call them to add the $10 data plan on it? Or should i go back to the authorized store n ask them to add it?
Hi, my family recently start a new family plan with at&t. I am wondering can i use a international gsII with the new plan and grab the $10 unlimited data plan? (i also have unlimited family txt) I am going through a authorized at&t store not from a corporation store. The worker there offer me $15 for the data plan which i thought it was $10. Can i grab the $10 data plan after they activate my phone ? Or i should have everything settle and call at&t directly to ask them to add it on? This is my first smartphone so im trying to save my parent some money. Sorry for the bad explaining.

It is $15 unless you bundle it with Messaging Unlimited (which is $20), then the unlimited data is $10.

I have no idea if or why it won't work with the unlimited family text plan. I don't work for AT&T, I am only a customer. Have you tried updating your features online? Maybe changing the "unlimited family text" plan to Unlimited Messaging?

My whole family uses txt and the family txt plan would be the best. If i have unlimited family txt the data plan will be $10 right?

I'm not confused at all. You seem to be the one confused.
You seem to think I will know a definitive answer to this question. I'm only relaying my personal experience as another AT&T customer; I have messaging unlimited at $20 (not the family plan unlimited text plan), and my unlimited "non-smartphone" data plan is $10.
Since I am not an AT&T employee, and have never had the unlimited family text plan, I do not know if the unlimited data will drop to $10 for you or not if you have and keep the unlimited family text plan.

Hello there, I need an oppinion, I'm leaving sprint and I want to buy the galaxy nexus from google and get a prepaid plan from t-mobile, it's $30 dollar plan for 100mins unlimited text and data/web. Need something affordable, what's your opinions everybody?? What would you guys recommend?

No but then again I have always been on the unlimited smartphone plan since my first iphone.
