Salam,
Since I first installed nightly unofficial builds CM9 to my touchpad I am unable to charge the device when powered on in android. All I have to do is to charge it while it is powered off. Any one knows a cure ?

I have been using nightly for 4 months now and it has always been charged with my touchstone or via the USB using an HP charger. In fact if it is turned off and the attached the either charging source it automatically turns on , so I am not sure why you are having this problem if you're using HP products.
Think he said powered off not just sleeping or screen off.

Yes I am talking powered of and that is either Webos or nightly. It will boot up when I connect to USB power or place it on the touchstone. But I will try turning it of while still connected to a power source and see what does or doesn't happen and edit this post later.

Okay as promised I put my tablet on to my touchstone while running nightly and shutdown,
it did not reboot
and after 1 hour I turned it back on and the charge has increased from 52℅ to 75 ℅ percent so if you are using an HP charger I do not know what is going wrong and can only suggest that you clear cache and in advanced clear davlik and reset permissions before reinstalling the latest nightly.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Read your post again and it certainly charges when turned on .
I second this bug.
When I'm on Android and plug in the OFFICIAL CHARGER FROM HP the status bar battery icon shows charging, but the percentage only drops...
This happens specially when the charge is below 50%.
Now I go to WebOS just to charge...
This happens on the nigthlies I've been using since June.
(Sorry for my bad english)

I don't have this problem, but I suggest unistalling android using Acmeunistaller, then reinstalling it again. Read and follow a tutorial for doing this. Do a search and you'll find several good ones here.
Do a backup, just in case.
Good luck.

I have to agree with chicle_11 that is the only thing left to try. Below is a link to everything you could possibly need with all files named correctly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30249437&postcount=624
The only thing slightly out of date is nightly if you DL the latest one just remember to rename it so that it starts update- .
Please let us know how you get on. All the best.
I'm having to think you have a hardware issue because Android actually ALLOWS more charging flexibility.
In webOS if you don't have the original HP AC adapter or the Touchstone your TP will not charge when in webOS.
In Android, if you have no hardware issues, your TP should take a charge from practically any source... mine will even slowly charge from the laptop's USB if I'm transferring files.
So... as chicle and sstar suggested I would reinstall Android... but even before that I would reinstall webOS and get it charging correctly before adding Android back to it
Keep us posted

hello
now the phone is in a boot loop, what i've tried so far
-charging battry for 12 hrs
-hard rest
-flashing different roms
-trying a different battery
-removing sd card when booting
no luck
any suggestions?
thx
Few questions for you here:
First off, Are you in a boot loop with xdandroid or WinMo. If its WinMo check below. If it's Xdandroid try deleting data.img, and starting over.
1.. Did you task 29 before flashing the other roms.
2.. Are you charging from a usb, or wall charger. If you're using a usb, that very well may be part of the problem. Use a wall charger. This has been a known issue for these boot loop situations.
You also may have bad blocks, or another hardware issue. I seriously doubt that though.

Is this the boot loop where the phone starts to boot, and then within a few seconds it runs out of power and turns off, and then after a few seconds of charging starts to boot again and repeated infinitely?
If so, this can be cleared by leaving the battery out of your phone for a long time. Not exactly so sure how long it needs to be, but I did it for a day or two and that worked for me. There is some sort of memory chip in the battery that needs to get cleared out to prevent the phone from trying to start automatically.

External battery charger
This happened to me. The only solution was to buy an external battery charger. I found a universal li-ion charger at the local department store that could be adjusted to charge any brick style li-ion battery.

like i said i dont why it works but it does for some reason. im guessing the power supplied by the car adapter is greater than a standard wall one. also this dead battery issue just started resently for me so i dont know if its the kernel or system ext2
ya the car charger gives you 2 amps while the wall charger gives 1 amp, i thought that this only affect the charging time
I am glad you you were able to get it going. This happens fairly often for me when I let the battery get too low.
The stock charger just doesn't put out enough current. I switched to using my old iGo universal charger. I have tips for all of the family phones (plus a y adapter to charge 2 at once. I can charge fast at home or in the car, and it seems to be able to provide enough juice to keep the phone going even when tethering, which the stock charger can't.

I am not trying to alarm people, but want to share a problem I am having. My Flyer is now bricked. Its totally dead. It does not respond to any charge.
Background:
I upgraded to Leak3 from Leak2 via shortcut => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19252771&postcount=54
The reason of this shortcut is that I did not revert to GB. This means that that I did not upgrade to HBOOT / RADIO that comes with leak3.
I was able to charge/discharge my flyer fine till now. 2 days ago I forgot to charge my flyer and charge level dropped to 5%. At that time my Flyer stopped responding to charger and never charged after despite all my attempts.
I don't know what happened. It is likely that this is a hardware issue, but I did want to caution others if they have the same issue.
OK, I assume you have tried a different charger, such as a micro USB from your PC, but I thought I would ask. Try attaching it to the PC and see if ADB can connect.

Yes, tried everything => Factory charger, Connecting to computer via factory supplied cable, using MicroSD charger from my Atrix.
No luck. dead. no life.
Any suggestions other than sending it to factory?
Just want to Warn other folks on leak3 who used the shortcut. If my problems are not hardware related than do not let charge drop below 10%
What happens when you try to connect via USB to a PC?
Did you try to connect to charger and press the power button for about 15 seconds? Had the same situation with the 'normal' upgrade path (reverted to GB between the leaks), that helped.

nothing. No response.
This does not sound like its related to the HC leak. The flyer should charge and respond to ADB even is the ROM is not booting as long as the Bootloader is intact. You should chat with Globaltron. He has resurrected several Flyers from dead due to mismatched boot / radio issues. But what you describe does not seem to jive with that because they will charge enough to respond to ADB, even in that state.
Does the LED near the power switch come on at all ?

Thanks. I will send a message to Globaltron. It is very likely that what I have is a hardware issue. I first connected the Flyer to charger two days ago when the charge was 8%. The LED was blinking at that time. Right off I noticed that it did not become steady after it was connected to charger like before. After that I tried several things like softreset/hardreset/charging in recovery/fastboot etc but device never charged and was losing charge rapidly. My computer would not recognize the device nor would I see notification in Flyer.
Yesterday it completely discharged and has been like that since. I have tried connecting to computer/factory charger/Atrix charger without success.
The reason I created this tread is that there were one or two folks who reported similar behavior after leak install and I suspected there might be an issue with leaks with charging if power falls below 10%. Though unlikely I thought it was best to warn others.
People have had problems charging when the boot was messed up but it would still charge enough to connect to ADB after a while. Flashing a good boot image corrected their problem.

It sounds like a hardware issue. If it would not charge with android running there is a problem other than the normal mismatch of recovery and hboot. That only affects off-mode charging.
My new AT&T Galaxy S II rebooted after USB cable connection when Android running up and in powered off state (battery charging animation is flicking - seems like reboot loops on charging state).
The interesting point is: In Downloading mode all things running as regular and i'm able re-flash the phone using usb cable.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Hmm this is a odd problem i dont recall hearing anything about this problem. You could try letting the battery sit for 10 minutes and then try again... I hope this problem gets fixed anyways you might want to call at&t or the company you got it from and look for a exchange.

Is this a third-party battery? If not, it's probably a loose battery connection.

Well you haven't exactly been around long, otherwise you'd know that this is a fairly common occurrence with third-party batteries. For example, it ALWAYS happens if you try to charge an I9100 battery (even an official one) in the I777. It's a basic safety check to prevent people from using the wrong battery in the 777.
Reboots - Stock rom problem
Hi, i bougth a new samsung S2 777, when start to reboot i try to change the USB port, nothing. Clear wipe reset, nothing...
THE SOLUTION IS THE STOCK ROM (i dont know why, 4.0.2). I install a custom ROM (cyanogemon 10.1) and sucess, it start to work again.
Try it its free... regards
Ok i rooted with sd_root_NT16or8gbV4_7 and have go launcher installed. This is my wifes nook so she might have installed something that is keeping it from working i plan to look at it closer tonight. My problem is that it will not connect to the computer and it will not charger while turned on with the wall charger or with the computer. If i turn the nook off it charges fine. When the nook is on the LED is green while in wall or computer. Power off and the led turns orange till its full then turns green. Ill post more info tonight but if youve had this problem please let me know what has helped you.

My nook occasionally does this also, but if the green light is on while charging its still charging the battery. Its not recommended to charge the nook while off(one reason why it will turn on while charging.)
ive left it plugged in over night with the screen off and powered on in the morning it was off and had no battery it had about 50% when i plugged it in.

Maybe just the root method not allowing it. Have you tried any other methods? If you have an SD cards around you can try making a boot able cm10 card and see if it charges. It won't affect any of your nook's internal settings, apps, etc.
http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/cm10-0-jellybean-sdcard-img-for-nook-tablet/
Just write to an SD card and put it in your nook. If it charges from there then the root method you have is messed up. Make a backup and try another or a custom ROM.
maybe its been rooted for about 6 months though and this is a new problem within the last month. Thats the kicker i guess since it shouldnt update i dont know if there is a setting somewhere that would stop it from charging. Im going to look into the go launcher widges to see if one of them has that option first i think. ill update in about 8 hours once im home. thanks for your help though m8

I found a few threads that suggested to restore back to factory reset and re-root your device. You can use a backup app like Titanium Backup to save all the apps, pictures etc.
Something in the /system directory gets messed up, but no one knows why.
My NT will only start charging if I turn the screen on after I plug it in, or plug it in with the screen turned on. After that, I can let the screen sleep, or turn it off right away.
If I don't do this, the light on the charger stays green and it won't start charging.
Connecting to the computer isn't affected by this, though.

Maybe the only thing to try at the moment would be the old battery drain technique... Usual means is to tape down the power button and wait days and days until it is dead, really dead ( shows nothing when connected to computer), then connect to wall charger and reboot and see what you get. This is really the ultimate "hard reset" but same result can be obtained far more quickly by removing the back and disconnecting the battery for a while to remove residual charge... Not as frightening or difficult as it might seem, have done it loads of times for various faults and to replace batteries in several tabs.

If you're trying to discharge by taping down power button just leave the tab on it's own not plugged into anything... Plugging into something that charges rather defeats the object of the exercise

In some cases it takes more than a day, be patient... Unless you are prepared to remove the back and unplug battery... The aim of the game is to completely power down the tab and remove residual charge in components, the "hardest" reset available.... So, two ways to achieve that is drain battery or disconnect battery... If you drain battery you must be sure it's empty to achieve desired effect then you obviously cannot restart it without charging a bit as the battery is empty, so you connect charger then try to boot, but the tricky bit is being sure the battery is completely drained otherwise you are just wasting your time... That is why battery disconnect is preferable

I had to purchase an iFixIt repair kit to get the correct driver to remove the two screws. I disconnected the battery, waited ten minutes and when I reconnected I was SO HAPPY to see the battery charging icon. I charged for a while a fired up the tablet. Everything was the same as if nothing happened. I am so happy because Samsung said they could fix the problem and it would be a flat rate of $150 which I don't have and I would lose everything.
Many thanks

I had to purchase an iFixIt repair kit to get the correct driver to remove the two screws. I disconnected the battery, waited ten minutes and when I reconnected I was SO HAPPY to see the battery charging icon. I charged for a while a fired up the tablet. Everything was the same as if nothing happened. I am so happy because Samsung said they could fix the problem and it would be a flat rate of $150 which I don't have and I would lose everything.
Many thanks

How hard was removing the back? I'm wanting to do some building for my 7510 and will be using it for testing so I'm most likely to brick it at least once or twice.

It took me longer to remove the screws then anything. I stripped them and will need to replace them. I tried a regular screwdriver before the tri-wing screw driver and paid dearly in time. Once the two screws were removed, use a plastic pry tool starting on the bottom where the screws are because once the bottom and sides are pried lose, the top will slide over the extended audio jack.
1.5 hours to remove stripped screws
10 minutes to pry open
1 minute to disconnect battery (did not remove battery or three data cables on top of battery)
10 minutes wait for discharge
3 minutes to re-connect battery cable (it slides forward and snap down)
2 minutes to replace case

Forgive the gravedigging, but I am unable to find anything regarding my situation, and the original poster has a problem that is similar to mine (my thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52931715 ). I hope someone is able to give me a hand here!
I am wondering, it has been over 15 minutes since I disconnected the battery completely, but connecting the P7500 to my laptop still shows an APX device being connected. Could there be some hardware issue preventing the device from being fully discharged?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Still no joy with waking the tablet up

I've got the same issue as Lightside and the original poster. Mine is a GT-P7500, which had CM10 nightly ROM with CWM recovery. I sold it on eBay, but before selling, I wiped the tablet and got it back to the Clockworkmod main screen. I turned it off completely and shipped it to the buyer, ready for it to be registered by the new user.
The buyer received the tablet and from the e-mails I received from him in the first couple of days, all was going well. Then, a couple of days later, he sent me an e-mail saying that the screen shows the android lying on its back with "Odin download" mode showing. A day later, he sends me a messaging saying that he can't turn the tablet on at all. The guy who bought it is an old man and didn't know much about fixing the issue. I asked him whether he powered the tablet off while still plugged in to the wall charger and he confirmed that he did. I asked him to return it to me and I can try and fix it, so now, I have the tablet back and it won't turn on. Here's what is happening:
1. I drained the battery using the cellotape method
2. Installed the NVflash drivers
3. Waited for the battery to drain (almost 9 days and the LED flash stopped blinking, so assumed it was completely drained)
4. Plugged it in to the PC and it immediately showed up again as a device under the USB controllers within Device Manager
5. I then unplugged the battery by opening the back of the tab, left it for 15 mins, then tried the wall charger again, but nothing. No charging icon on the screen.
When I try to press the power button, I can see the LED light up, but the screen is still blank.
Could this be a hardware issue and if so, what do you think could have caused it?
Could really do with some help here, folks! I don't want to have to give the buyer a refund because technically, he got it when it was in working condition and he probably did something to screw it up, but since he's an old man, I thought I'd try and help him, if I can.
same to me
