[Q] Stuck in Emergency Call screen - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. My S3 is stuck on the Emergency Call screen. Everything seems to be running fine in the background. I'm rooted on Criskelo's rom v.5.3. About an hour ago I ran Supercurio's Voodoo unlock for the S3 in the market place, and unlocked it cause I'm traveling to the states later on today. I have the i9300 model, on Digicel Bermuda. I'm still using the Digicel simcard since I unlocked earlier today, but now the Emergency call screen came on and I can't do anything. Any ideas how to get rid of this?
I can receive call just fine, just can't dial out or get rid of this screen...

Check you have correct IMEI for your phone .
Check your network settings are correct .

How do I do that? I can't get passed this emergency screen to do anything... I wonder if anything went haywire when I used that network unlock app... however, the phone worked fine for about an hour after I used it...

boy do I feel dumb... I guess it's just a lockscreen which I didn't remember setting up... I just panicked for no reason
Someone can close or delete this thread... sorry about that...

Post a screen shot of your About Phone page from the phone Settings if you don't mind.

But It Didnt Work!
Mines been like this since day one. Made me have to remember my number right away. I always thought it was odd too. Also, is it normal for your voicemail number to be different? I also get calls from tmobile asking for whom I assume to have my number before
Oops, didn't see what forum I was in. maybe someone still knows.

In my case, the number shows up in My phone number when i use a T-Mobile SIM...
When i use a Vodafone SIM there is no number (as mentioned in the OP)...
My Handset is original Unlocked - CSC : I9100XEUKD1
Find an old skool phone (Sony Ericsson K800) this should have a menu for your own mobile number, enter it here. This will save your number directly to your SIM and it will appear on your SGS2.

Hey man i dont think your imei no would have changed unless you have been doing something naughty
to the network issue you have you should try flashing the csc for your county, you can find them in the dev section. the csc holds carrier information and details for mms and keyboard languages and such.
when i flash my csc for the uk when my phone reboots i will get a pop up menu that will let me select my vodafone contract as my network.
Hey Crucio,
Nothing naughtier than flashing a custom rom
I have flashed the indian rom version as thats where i am. flashed the csc also that came with the stock but imei doesnt change back. Request some more information on how to change the imei or reset the phone so i can work. Holding the phone of my dreams in my hand and not able to do anything with it.

Vijay.
Hi, I have the same problem. It is like that when you get duplicate of your sim or replacement sim. Confirmed with my network.
My sim is not a duplicate or replacement. It is working on my N8 and in another Galaxy S. Not working on my Galaxy S2.
No number in my settings either. Would of been nice to have it showing up.

HELP NEEDED!!! Cant send or recive calls!? PLEASE HELP!!!...

EDIT: Just tried a 3 sim card and it worked so I will get another T-Mobile Sim to see if the problem is a didgy sim card...strage as the sim works when I put it in a micro sim to sim adapter in another phone!?
Im in the UK, with T-Mobile and randomly cant send/recieve calls or texts
I called T-Mobile and they refreshed the network settings but I still cant call...they said it wasnt anything to do with network coverage as it was displaying i had signal, but in call settings > additional settings or call forwarding > voice call:
it says "Network or Sim error"
my sim works in another phone too so its not a dodgy sim...so it is 100% down to the phone that I cannot call or recieve calls or texts so not just call settings being messed up, problem surfaced 2 hours after flashing Foxhound 0.3 (but in those 2 hour calls/texts were working)
I have done hard reset, and facory reset, restored a backup...also flashed stock XXLF2, and also LF8 but all with no luck
My IMEI number is displayed in about phone, it is displaying full signal, and T-Mobile in the dropdown menu and im able to use my mobile data from T-Mobile so what is wrong, and how can I fix this?
Would be forever grateful to whoever can help me out...even if your not sure any ideas are welcome as my £500 phone is as good as bricked to me!
I will take it into T-Mobile to see if they will replace the handset under warranty but how do I go about making it seem it hasnt been rooted or flashed custom ROM, I know I need Triangle away but what order etc?
Thanks allot
Remove root apps .
Run Triangle Away
Flash original stock rom .
Check rom counter .

S3 - suddenly Mobile network not available

I have a Samsung S3 GT 19300.
Purchased in Hong Kong. Using China Unicom, and I have a monthly plan, fully paid up.
It is stock - I have not rooted it.
Suddenly, about 3 days ago, I started having problems with it connecting to the network. I ignored this issues because I was on vacation, and roaming ... so I thought it was due to the roaming.
I'm back home now, and I can not make any calls.
When I call out, the phone:
- sometimes doesn't connect to the network - the call doesn't go through at all
- sometimes dials the other end, but there is no sound between the two phones. When that happens, the phone connection lasts about 15 seconds, and then the Samsung phone shows the network as not available, with the circle with a slash through it, and says "Mobile
network not available".
I've rebooted many times.
I've took out the SIM card, and put it back in.
I've checked the firmware - and the firmware is current.
I've disabled JuiceDefender Ultimate
Strangely, I CAN send data thru the network, but can not receive or make calls.
I also found out that WHILE I CAN SEND / RECEIVE data (internet), FourSquare can not identify where I am...
Suggestions?
actually it seems like a problem with your network\sim card.
i'd try first to ask other users under the same network if they experience problem and replace the sim card
Backup Data factory reset ..
Try with a different sim card are the usual first steps .

I forgot to update my post.
I used a friend's SIM - which is on the same network (China Unicom) as my SIM card is ...
I had the exact same problems.
One of my friends tells me I should re-install a ROM ... What do you think?
QUESTIONS:
Should I try to root the phone?
I ask because (a) it's not yet
(b) I want to back it up, and understand Titanium Backup to be the best ... but that needs to be rooted.
FINALLY - how woulld you back it up? I hate losing data.
I have a huge DROPBOX account ... but don't see a great way to use that to back it up.
Thanks.
i've a similar problem but with sms..

If it's within guarantee then just take it back to the store. Sounds defective and rooting would void your warranty on a faulty device. You'd probably find that rooting and a custom rom would not help anyways.
My $0.02 is take it back to the store, but back up your setting to Samsung drive thing. It backs up message too.

not registered to network after turning off the flight mode or signal loss

My unit says 'not registered to network' whenever i make a call but i can use the internet provided by my sim. This happens wheneve i access the flight mode and after turning it off i cant make any calls or texts.. but i have a strong signal and can use the net. I bought this already to samsung service ctr and they said that they changed the board. But the problem is still there. When i use my sim to other phone it works fine. And whenever i put it back to my s3, everything seems to be normal because i can make calls and texts already. Just dont access the flight mode.. havent tried if the problem will activate if i have a complete signal loss. Anyone one there with the same case? Pls help me with this one..
Lack of information ..
Backup data and factory reset.

[Q] "out of service" service status

Tried some sims in phone (first time put one in after using for week or so). The S2 I got of ebay,
did some googling and I think I may have a stolen phone, as am I right that message I put in title means carrier blocked?
Note I am not getting network locked messages, it just says emergency calls only and the status under settings - about says out of service.
--edit--
confirm works when I restored my nandroid backup of rom that came with phone.
So seems flashing custom roms can cause this problem, I didnt change the baseband tho so somethign else changed to break it.
