Hi everyone
This has been asked and answered A LOT in xda forums but all questions and answers where about rooted phones, so...
is there any way to remove the stock touchwiz power toggles that appear in the pull-down notification bar, in a NON-ROOTED galaxy s2 running ICS?
like... is there a specific app I could disable? Or is it buried so deep in touchwiz, needs custom roms, decompiling systemUI and all those things meaning ... no luck for me?
Thanks

You need root to do what you seek. Which is why the answers you found were only for rooted phones.
Thank you for clearing that up!

Hello All, Noob to the site just been checking the forums out and looking for an answer regarding the icons in the notification bar.
In the "post your screenshot" thread on the atrix forums I see alot of people with custom icons in the notification bar, just wondering how I can edit this.
Any help is appreciated, thank you.

If you go to UOT Kitchen you can do some neat stuff there using the framework-res file from an existing P-ROM. Google it and you'll find the site as well as the XDA thread. Sorry, on my phone and don't have time to find the links and post them.

I know rooting is the way to go, but I prefer not too. I am new to modding and what not so bare with me. The Galaxy S 2 I believe has the blue status bar icons (clock/signal/(4g or 3g) can you make the Amaze's status bar similar without rooting? Like a skin or something.

I don't think so, since you'll have to mod the framework-res and the systemui which both will need root to be push back into the system.

Answered my question, thank you.
hey guys,
i was wondering if there is any way to get those customisable bottom touch navigation bar controls(like in some of the 4.0.4 custom roms), activated in stock LPG ( or any stock firmware)???
thank you.
I take it you didn't watch the welcome video, noob? Wrong section, and it's been asked and answered dozens of times. Look by the Android version number, not the ROM codename. It's handled by the build.prop file, so if it's supported in your version and you're rooted its a simple fix.
If you're not rooted you can't do it. Period.

thanks. sorry abt posting in the wrong section.
i tried a search before posting this thread, but couldnt find the exact info i wanted. it was showing suggestions for galaxy nexus mods and images for navigation bar icons. so wasnt sure whether it could be tried out for Galaxy S2 also. being a noob, wasnt too confident.
can u plz post a link to the thread for the SGS2.
thank you.
I've found that in Jelly Bean, the stock rom makes something like a jump or little movement of toggle settings when you push down the notification area.
Is there any mod for stock rom to config these toggles ? (visible or not, order, take off that ugly movement, ...)
Best regards,
I've noticed this behaviour too. I wonder if it's intended or just a bug.

it's samsung'ed style notification bar..you can install mods but i like it..
I know is it samsung'ed style, but I hate it. I normally connect and disconnect 3G DATA and with that ugly movement I usually push another toggle. Only change the order will be great.
I expect anybody to change this behavior or let us to modify order and visible toggles.
Thanks,
Use 23 toggles mod from neat lite forum..use the search button..

Hi !
Got an SGS2, I9100 , I have installed a custom ROMs, based on stock Samsung Jelly Bean XWLS8 - MilitantRom v1.7(blu) and then installed AllianceMod for XWLS8 which enables some customization options that are not available in the stock ROM, like changing colors. The mod installed with no errors and works fine, but there is one issue I noticed. When headphones are connected, the toggles are moved down and audio panel appears, maybe somebody knows what can be done, so the toggles stay always on top, when connecting the headphones or playing music on stock player, in background. This behavior is not being observed in the standard stock ROM that I installed, I understand this could be a problem with the mod.I have attached a screenshot.
If this is not the right topic to ask about this issue, I apologize, I'm new to the forum and cannot post in the DEV forums yet, I wish I could post in the topic regarding the AllianceMOD.
Thank you.
I have done it on my own.
Here you have.

Guys, I have spent all day in the forums, ABD, Kitchen and the tool kit. Hours of scouring code and looking for the N2 version of the statusbarpolicy. smali that I would use to edit and disable the status bar clock completely. Can anyone direct me to the right place to edit the code in this beast to remove day and time from the bar?

Have you tried changing the value for status_bar_clock_text_size to 0.0dip in values/dimens.xml?

Nope.... That's why I wanted to ask for ideas - I was dead set on going after removal and not seeing the forest through the trees

Ok, now I'm really lost and should probably post in the jb forum on this, I'm used to the dimens file being in \res\values.... I'm starting to show my noob side here....

Yeah that's the correct location, did you make sure you decompiled and not just extracted the apk?

I am probably not super qualified yet to answer this but maybe can help. When I use morphology to customize whichever rom I am on, it asks as one of the customizations if you want to disable status bar clock altogether. I dont know what rom (s) you are using but it works on jb, jedi, and clean. Or ask the dev, maybe he will help you.

The Beans ROM has the option to remove the clock from the status bar, so if you look at that code or maybe PM beanstown, the dev, you may find an answer. Apologies if not helpful.
You can download tweakbox. While it won't rid you of a clock, you can hide it by changing the color.
