I know rooting is the way to go, but I prefer not too. I am new to modding and what not so bare with me. The Galaxy S 2 I believe has the blue status bar icons (clock/signal/(4g or 3g) can you make the Amaze's status bar similar without rooting? Like a skin or something.

I don't think so, since you'll have to mod the framework-res and the systemui which both will need root to be push back into the system.

Is there a way to use metamorph or ninjamorph to change the battery icon in the notification bar. I've done it before but that was a while ago.

This is not the Q&A board.

for crying out loud its still the theme forum, leave him alone....lighten up on each other honestly, friggen search police
OK so I put it on the wrong forum oops. There are a lot of people with questions on this forum. I thought it would be better answered if it were on this forum since I'm asking about something that can only be done on a rooted phone. I did do some searching but did not find much not saying that there isn't anything just didn't find it.

youre fine, dont let wannabe searchsearchsearch mods get to you, people do ask questions all the time in EVERY section, and your question is perfectly relevant to theming. Q&A forum is more of a safe secondary option for people who dont know where to post
--------------------------------------
you may be able to actually change the .png through ninja morph but you wont be able to apply it. Ninja morph is a good concept, but until there is the option to sign through it, realistically it creates more steps than it eliminates.
With that said you can alter a Metamorph theme (thats what i do), just go to your theme that you use in /sdcard/Android Themes, and find the image/s that you want to edit, then just reapply the theme.
I'm sorry to ask you this but I'm a big time noob when it comes to this stuff. So it it easier to go that way or just flash it?

depends. if something you like is already in flashable format, and its compatible with your firmware/ROM, that would obviously be the best way to go. But if you have decent image editing software (GIMP), its not all that hard to access your sdcard from your pc and just edit a few .png files within a theme and then reapply the theme. Sometimes it can be a hassle to figure exactly which image you are supposed to edit to get the result youre looking for.
I'm looking at the battery icons in a thread just a few down from this one. Those I think a flashable. I'm running on the stock rom.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
You can find about 7 different battery icons using the gst app. All you do its download the icon you want and put it on the root of your sd card. Then use rom manager to boot into clockwork mod recovery and select the apply zip from sd option. The battery icon will show up on there.just click it and that's it.pretty easy huh
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Can I still do that on my modified notification bar. I'm using the clear with the modified icons that I got from one of the threads on this forum.

TopShelf, I think you're way out of line here. The theming forum is obviously not the best place to ask questions about theming. People like "creator" shouldn't have to be bothered to click on threads that they don't have the desire, nor time to answer. Instead, creator and other busy people need to only see threads that they enjoy reading, and all questions pertaining to theming should never be asked in the theme forum.
His valuable time cannot be spent answering questions to threads he clicked on and read, and only in the severe ignorance of the OP can he be bothered to reply, and of course, only reply with a full paragraph explaining the ignorance of the OP.
I'll thank you, Top Shelf, to remember the forum etiquette in the future. If you're going to utilize the theming forum, then please remember to berate and belittle anyone that also utilizes it for questions pertaining to theming.
Thread moved to Q&A.
All I want to do is modify the framework to give me the percent battery and also change the notifications. Can I use the framework on the stock Rom to change that since I'm rooted or do I have to have a different Rom that's modified?

Try the question and answer section please!
Yes you can, just do a backup before you attempt the changes and backup the original Framework-res.apk somewhere.
By back up some may wanna say nandroid or nand but we are NOT running Amon Ra anymore so lets drop the Nand..... Its kind of a slap in the face to the folks at Clockwork. And who let us root???????
THANKS CWM TEAM!
Sorry normally would have put it in there but figured it would be better in the development forum...mods feel free to move since it would be better in there

I honestly think a sticky at the top of each forum for questions would make things easier for everyone to find and help the lazy. But the one in the development section was closed and they refereed everyone to Q and A. I wasnt trying to be rude. And I dont mind helping, its just hard to find apps and themes amongst all the questions.
Ya I usually don't post easy questions like this but I tried to find somewhere that talked about the stock Rom and framework but didn't find much. Love the Rom since it was the same Rom I used on my G2 but it was Evils custom rom. Hard to go back to stock when your used to modifying your own images lol
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I hear that, its no fun if its not custom.
Did you see my thread on changing the android on the usb connect screen? Its also done through the framework. I would post link but I'm mobile. :/
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Nope haven't looked into it right now, since I just switched from the G2 I was going to read up on everything before but it seems like most of the G2 stuff is almost the same as the myTouch 4G so I'll be able to just go to town lol. If I do anything new I'll definitely add it to the pot once I get something good

You can't actually change the notifications pane with that, but there are notification icons and the percentage battery changes there. I just use the silver circle one and left the rest stock, nice b&w feel to it.
More complex changes require a deodexed ROM like IG, CM6/7, eViL's MIUI, etc.
Is there a stock rom that's been deodexed? That's all I'm looking for right now but I'm not finding anything

Im told that Iced Glacier is pretty much a faster version of the stock rom. (I havent tried it myself)
However if you are just trying to change the Icons in the status bar you dont need to be deodexed to use the mods in the link previously mentioned. Im running stock rom with one of those mods myself currently
Ya I was able to change the notification icons, signal, battery...only thing I couldn't do without having FC issues was change the battery into a percent. Even with those mods on the link I was getting FC issues
Hi everyone
This has been asked and answered A LOT in xda forums but all questions and answers where about rooted phones, so...
is there any way to remove the stock touchwiz power toggles that appear in the pull-down notification bar, in a NON-ROOTED galaxy s2 running ICS?
like... is there a specific app I could disable? Or is it buried so deep in touchwiz, needs custom roms, decompiling systemUI and all those things meaning ... no luck for me?
Thanks

You need root to do what you seek. Which is why the answers you found were only for rooted phones.
Thank you for clearing that up!

Hey,is there any way to add ink effect without installing Jkay framework, because i don't really like that aosp look and lockscreen.
Maybe bit of a noob response here but hope it helps nonetheless...
I have jkay framework and I'm very pleased by it, it offers loads of customisation, if you so choose. So you could flash and leave most things/everything stock.
There are 6 different lock screens which includes the stock ripple effect version with ink effect. As for the aosp'ness it all depends if you choose to flash the aosp theme/mods.
I've been running jb wanamlite with jkay for a while now and find it's a great little setup. Sleek smooth and gets rid of the little annoyances that I personally feel the samsung framework had.
I would suggest that you give it a go and if you don't like it revert back. Dont forget to do a nandroid backup first though - only as good practice you shouldn't need it

Would you mind sharing your wanamlite rom version with me? I can see that the latest versions aren't yet supported by Jkay framework.
Flash inkeffect from themes section
No jkay needed?
JKay is not needed if you want only the ink effect
Try searching in themes and apps section using the keyword "ink effect"

I also think the ability to remove the bloatware would be awesome. I found that after rooting and using TB to delete the apps I won't use they reappear after reboot. Very surprising! But then again I'm fairly new to droid after 5 years with iPhone.
Very much looking forward to the ROMs available for this device. The developer work done here is amazing. Thank you!
no clock, transparent status bar, and no clock with transparent status bar. These will work on any ROM based on 1.26.502.10 (stk is short for stock, sorry if that's confusing). If the ROM you're using has other SystemUI mods (battery, EQS, etc), this will overwrite those. Flashable in recovery
Edit: transparent status bar is no more transparent then stock in the launcher and not at all in apps. So that mod is a fail. I'll look closer tomorrow

I have a debloat tool posted in the Dev section for exactly that. The reason this happens is due to new nand protection on the /system/ partition... any changes that are made while the ROM is booted will revert upon reboot. So changes either need to be made while the ROM is not booted (in recovery), or you need to install a custom kernel that has this proection disabled..
