hi,
when i'm connecting any headphone into the audio jack the device not recognize them, the headphone are working on other devices ,
i've rooted my phone , i have android 2.3.6
Have the same problemes, tried a few headphones, also the original one, but nothing...Probably the contacts arent working, so the guarantee shoud handle it

I've seen this issue- it's usually caused by lint to dust getting on the terminals in the headphone jack. Best thing to do is try compressed air first. You may also be able to scrape some lint out with a toothpick, although you want to be careful when doing this.
If you don't have any luck with those methods it's probably going to be a warranty issue.

I have a modded aria with the stock 2.2.2 rom on it.
recently I've been using skullcandy earbuds for my phone with the microphone built in and peoplei talk too have been saying that they can't hear me or have been having difficulty hearing me.
I don't believe it's the headphones but I'm sure that it is most likely is the hardware or software in the phone is there any remedy to this?
Have you tried cleaning out the headphone jack? Lint can get stuck in there and prevent a good connection with headsets because headset plugs are longer than regular headphone plugs. A toothpick seems to work well for me.

I did and it still isn't working (saw a similar post but wasn't the same)
Wasn't sure if maybe software maybe the problem or if its just the hard ware
I tried another pair of headphones and same thing
Only thing I could try was rebooting and leaving it off for a little bit but it didn't work
Any ideas would be nice
I don't really know what might cause that in software. If I was having that issue I'd probably make a nandroid backup, then do a factory reset to see if the problem goes away or not.
Hi there.
I've no audio comming out through my headphones connector. The phone doesn't recognise anything connected when I plug in headphones or audio cable.
I've tried to clean it with canned high pressure air and it doesn't help.
Maybe it's a rom issue. I'm running the latest ics available through OTA and I've rooted it with the one click tool found in the development section.

I had the same exact issue and had to take it into store. They looked inside the jack said ok and ordered me a replacement. They didn't say what was wrong or anything,

Thank you.
I'll try that.

i think it is an issue of our jack port. it is the 2nd time mine breaks and i noticed it broke when i connected it to my 2.1 pc speakers jack. the 1st time warranty covered it but i haven't send it this time cause i need the phone for the next 4-5 days due to work. i hope warranty will cover it the second time too. i have noticed that the speaker jack is slightly thicker and it made the top connector of the jack port popping out and not letting anything to be completely inserted in the port.
Lint problem
Hi,
I get this problem every now and then. The main problem is the jack is too big and lint easily gets inside and blocks the headphone's pin to touch the base in order for it to function.
One of the easiest ways of clearing the lint is use a pin/needle or anything small that can go inside and pull the lint out. Make sure you do it very carefully and try to use a torch light to see better.
That's strange. I just reflashed ics and now it's working again.

Stock motorola firmwares too buggy (except for the India Stock ICS). Use MIUI 2.10.12 ...amazing...just amazing..
Hello there.
Today I've noticed that the left speaker of my headphones doesn't work when I plug them to my Mini Pro. I moved from CM10.2 to SJB 8.0 and found this out while testing stuff out. It's been some time since I've used my phone as a music player last time, but I never had any problems like this. Reverting to CM didn't help either.
I can't really find out whether this is a hardware or software issue. I think connector isn't dirty, wiggling the plug doesnt make any difference. Is there anything more I can try, besides flashing stock firmware? Did anybody have a similar problem?
EDIT: I've connected my PC to the phone as a BT headset, both channels work fine there.
What headphone do you own? Most new headphones with mic won't work correctly on 2011 xperia. Those new headphones use CTIA, our phone uses OMTP. Long story short, you can only use stock headset or the ones without mic. You could buy OMTP to CTIA converter though. Look up on eBay.

I use only standard stereo headsets, namely Creative Aurvana Live and Creative EP630.
They looked compatible to me. Maybe cleaning phone jack with alcohol would help, I don't know. Sorry

Thanks for your input either way. I have tried cleaning the jack with isopropyl alcohol, and also just in case left the phone without battery for some time (because why not).
The strange thing about this is I'm getting absolutely no sound whatsoever on the left channel, while the right one works like a charm. If i'd get any noise while moving the jack around, it would be pretty obvious sign of bad soldering, and therefore a HW problem.
I still struggle with this problem. I have tried downgrading software to stock GB, didn't help. I've took it to some service centre, the folks there have replaced the jack, but it didn't help either. I wonder if i should pump any more money into this.
The title says it all, I have an Eonon G2110F based on a RK3188 chip and the call quality of the supplied microphone is not very good and the cord is too long (approx 1 metre).
Can anyone recommend an aftermarket better quality microphone with approximately 2 metres of cord for installation?
Thanks!
I just bought a generic cheap one off ebay. Maybe I got lucky but my call quality is great and no hardware mod carried out. I've a different unit which way have slightly different internals. You might not be so lucky

What unit do you have and why did you buy a different mic?
Dave
It's badged an erisin. The mcu is KGL v2.55
With the internal mic I sounded far away. I got an external to make me sound closer. I've had no complaints about call quality since

Ok thanks man. I did some more work and finally got my sound quality nearly perfect. Great pickup range also.

Hi Dave, what work did you do and what mic did you get for your good quality audio?
Ended up modifying the mic from my old kenwood unit and unsoldering the internal mic.

The supplied mic is unlikely to be the reason for audio quality due to a design flaw in these mtcb and mtcd units.
This post highlights the design error in these head units. The error is that the external mic is in parallel with the internal - this shouldn't work at all! If using an external mic, disconnect the internal.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3246277
Bringing back this thread... I finally got around to removing the internal microphone from this unit (held off for fear of doing more damage than good!) by cutting the wired behind the touchscreen. Problem is I now have no microphone at all!! I tried plugging in a different microphone to the port on the rear of the unit and still no sound. I am running Malaysk rom, I wonder if there is a setting to 'switch' from internal microphone to external microphone?
Alternatively does anyone know if I can pair my phone to the hu for media streaming only, phone off (set in Bluetooth options of phone) and simultaneously pair it to a Bluetooth hands-free kit for phone audio only, media off (in phone Bluetooth settings)?
Failing that I will need to set it up as speakerphone with a phone cradle as this is the wife's car and she will not be happy with my tinkering!!
Any suggestions?!

same situation here, but for now i left the internal mic soldered and functional... the rear jack has a mic connected but it does not work...
i think that there are a couple of tests to be made:
1. 7floor sound mod- maybe this has something to do with this.... different input for rear/external mic... i already sent a PM to 7floor
2. a "hidden" switch for enabling the external mic, and disable the internal one ... i already send a PM to malay
3. normally the switch should be made when connecting the mic jack ... not working for me either... maybe the wire loom is not soldered properly ?-to investigate
it would be nice if someone has a hint or an advice

Why don't you just solder another external connector to the wires that was connected to the internal mic.
I've done that and it works both for phone calls and Google.

Do you buy an external connector with the black and red wires already exposed to do that or do I modify a standard mic extension and cut the male end to expose the cables?

Yes. Should be a mono connector.

I'm going to try and solder a mic extension cable directly behind the touchscreen this weekend, just wanted to check if you knew whether the microphone in these units was a standard 3.5mm or a smaller 2.5mm? I'm pretty sure it's 3.5mm but wanted to be sure before I bought it without pulling the dash apart again.
Thanks for all your help!
Mine is 3.5, normal size so to speak

Ordered the mic extension and finally getting around to installing it. Only query is that the tiny mic that came with the unit had 2 fine wires, a red and a black/positive negative. After cutting the male end of the extension cable though, there are 3x wires - red, copper, green. Any idea which go where, and will it matter that only 2 wires are used?

Hello, I'm having some connection issues with the Headphone jack on my Redmi note 4 Global Version (snap), I had the phone for over a year but from 2 weeks ago the phone couldn't recognize the headphone if it's completely in the jack, but it does recognize it nearly at the bottom with some issues (such as missing a channel), but there's a gold spot like 1mm above the bottom where the sound works as normal, but it's not reliable because any movement would take the plug out of that gold spot.
I figured a replacement should work fine and at first I tried to solve this locally, I went into like 5 tech support stores but none of them had a replacement jack, however one of them said that this issue could instead be the logic board, they asked me to let my phone overnight to see if its the board or the piece, and then tell me if the repair is possible. Because everything pointed towards a issue with the piece, as the phone did had a point where it could recognize the headphone connected, I said fine and let it, the next morning they bailed out and said they couldn't fix it because it was an issue with the board, them they spouted something about it being a common issue with a bunch of Xiaomi models having that exact same issue and telling there's no point in changing the jack as it would keep failing.
Honestly I don't believe it, the phone have a year without issues and to me the behaviour in the headphone tells a failure in keeping the connection at the end of the plug.
My idea right now is to buy a jack myself and either follow this tutorial or bring it to a store to change it for me, I'm not familiarized with smartphones and have no experience in soldering, so maybe bring it to a store is a better idea, however i still need to ask, is there a chance it could be the logic board or it definitely is the jack? I should buy that piece from Aliexpress or search another source? That tutorial seems legit enough?
Thanks in advance for any help.
I have two Redmi Note 4s with headphone jack issues.
The headphone jacks don't last as long as other phone manufacturers. Also there appears to be issues with the printed circuit on the motherboard from the headphone jack to the rest of the circuit.
Replacing the headphone jack and adding extra wire from the headphone jack connectors to the associated components should fix the problem. If it doesn't then meh, you've done all you can!
