bootloader unlocking - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

So i wasted about 3-4 hours looking Google and around the forums
What i did
mobile came with gingerbread
rooted it up
Installed custom recovery
Whats the problem
When opening the tools folder in command prompt and entering fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
it gets stuck on finding device
I am trying this process in recovery and help would be greatly appreciated

you mean you are connecting phone while in CWM recovery, and then entering fastboot command?
If yes, then read sticky thread in Neo V dev section, to learn how to connect your phone in fastboot mode.

No. Turn off your phone. Hold the menu button and plug in the USB cable. Your phones led should turn blue and you are at fast boot mode.

Ok. Other GSM users rave about mwakious GB or leedroid GB. Download one our both of those and try to flash them in recovery. You will have to flash the kernel in fastboot since you are s-on (or use 4ext with smart flash as your recovery).

I think the reason is that all the latest custom ROMS require an upgrade to the radio firmware too. Flashing the ROM is not enough to make the phone work.
To flash the radio firmware you must be S-OFF. If you're S-ON please flash a slightly older rom version like King Cobra 1.5. Moreover, when S-ON, you need 4EXT
recovery to be up and running with a single operation. Otherwise you need to flash the boot partition separately, using fastboot (a program you can find on the HTC site which comes for Linux and Windows).
To go S-OFF I recommend the wire-trick method

which rom did you flash?
your phone is fine,
thinks to also look into doing..
get 4ext recovery..

-To answer your question.
You should have backed up your phone before flashing a rom.
if you didnt your going to download a rom that compatible with your device.. which seems to be the EVO V 4G. or download the RUU
Code:

It is small gap between purple and red,you have to install fastboot driver.
Try installing fastboot drivers before connecting.
hold the volume up while you put usb in down just press it led should go blue

On another note if his phone is on the latest OTA 3.16.651.3 you can't run any CM,AOSP,AOKP roms because HTC updated the touch panel drivers and the screen won't work on those roms the way to tell is if his baseband ends with 1210 you can find it by going to settings/about/software info/more

Which screen is your phone currently booted to? Can you get into download mode? Try pressing both volume keys and power button at the same time. We'll take it from there
I can go to download mode.
Okay, good.
Connect phone and open command on PC and issue this command: fastboot devices
Check to see if your device shows up. If it does issue this command: fastboot rebootRUU
And then flash RUU.exe from computer.
Alternatively, select 'bootloader' in download mode. Once there select recovery and let me know what happens

The thing is I had a custom rom before relocking so my recovery doesn't boot. It boot loops and then after a few minutes goes back to boot loader. Right now, I can boot to boot loader and download mode. I will try a different laptop just in case the drivers aren't working. I'm taking a lecture right now so I'll do that as soon as I get home.
