Trident Cases. Cyclops vs Aegis - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I'm looking for a nice case to get for my phone when I get it on Sept 1st. It looks like the Trident Line is coming out now. I seen on Amazon these two types. The Kracken is just too big
Cyclops: http://www.amazon.com/Trident-Cy-Cy...343402196&sr=1-15&keywords=evo+4g+lte+trident
http://www.cyclopscase.com/cyclops-ii-case-for-htc-evo-4g-lte-red/
Aegis http://www.amazon.com/Trident-Case-...1343402196&sr=1-8&keywords=evo+4g+lte+trident
These both look like they would both be great cases without adding much bulk to the phone. What do you guys think? The Cyclops looks to be a bit more protection looking at pictures on other sites.

I loved my Aegis case in the epic touch. It can be compared to the otterbox commuter because there's 2 parts to it. Needless to say I'll be getting the Aegis.

The aegis is making me reconsider my otterbox defender. Pretty nice looking case. Not sure about the level of protection tho. But it sure looks nice.

The level of protection equals that of the commuter. I like this cases because they put dust covers over the speaker and mic

The Aegis is more or less equivalent to the Commuter, the Cyclops to the Defender. I had a Cyclops case on my Evo 3D for a year, was definitely the best designed case for that phone. Since the EVO LTE Cyclops was delayed for so long, I got an EVO LTE Defender and I'm surprisingly happy with it. The Defender has a textured hard outer rubber layer and does not accumulate nearly as much lint and skin oil as the Evo 3D Defender did. I am still going to try out the new Cyclops, but it does not have any anti-skid rubber areas on the front and only a small area on the back, so it will be more prone to accidental drops than the Defender.

The pictures do not show dust covers but wouldn't it be bad if the speaker and mic were covered?

Otterbox alternative?

I've had my first otterbox defender ever with this evo 3d and though I love the protection, I'm beyond annoyed with the rubber outer layer stretching so it doesn't fit right. I'm already on my second outer layer (they replaced it for me 2 or 3 weeks ago and its already out of shape).
Anything else someone recommends? I don't like the ballistic case btw, looks too bulky compared to otterbox.

Thanks, this does look like what I'm looking for. Do you own 1? Any stretching issues like I'm experiencing?

no i plan on trying one out tho. i had one for the evo 4g, and never had problems with stretching.
I'd like to try the Kraken. If you get it, would you mind providing a little review? I emailed Otterbox about the replacement even stretching and see what they say before I make any additional purchases. Amazon has the Kraken for about $10 cheaper btw - just looked. but they only have a handful left... I hate when they do that, makes you feel like its now or never.

I've heard some bad reviews on the Kraken II for the Evo 3D. I decided on ordering the Cyclops II for the Evo 3D, I've heard nothing but good things. Ballistic Cases are another great option.

Thanks. I have been doing some research on the Kraken II too and getting more and more discouraged. I'll look at the Cyclops II and maybe Ballistic.
Otterbox offered to send me 2 replacements this time. I also asked why it is doing this and how I can prevent/minimize it but they ignored that part. I suppose I'll take the replacements, but I don't think I'm going to stick with Otterbox because of this issue. Just still don't know what else to get.

How about warping or stretching? Solid there?
Seidio's is nice. No stretching. I have extended battery so its bulky.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Thanks. which seidio? I'm eyeing the Active with kickstand. I think I did read they they were pretty easily warped by the camera button, but I might have that mistaken with case mate.
EDIT: Thanks for the help, I just went ahead and ordered a seidio.
heres a case that i recently purchased and absolutely love. not as protective at otterboxes or ballistic cases but it survived many nightmarish drops and came out just fine, not a nick or scratch on the case even.the kickstand design is very solid and its made of the same reinforced plastic polymer as otters and ballistic, and it incorporates a hard tpu skin. overall a futuristic design for a futuristic looking phone lol. also a great price

Still using the otterbox defender, never had a problem with the silicone stretching. Only thing i can see doing that is constantly taking the rubber off and on.
I don't remove the rubber layer at all. But I just showed my brother yesterday the problem and asked if he had that issue. He also has the e3d and otterbox defender. He doesn't at all. But we compared his outer layer to mine and his is thicker. I don't know why ours are different.

The "silicone" mixture can be different, that's why they ask for the vendor code when you get them to send you a new one, I would think its very easy to revise the ingrediants to make it fit better or worse, I think putting in my pocket and taking it out stretched out the sides and made it fit a lil lose compared to a new one, my replacement defender fit totally better than my first one, however the same problem did occur over time, again... So I'm with you in the hunt to find that perfect case,
Shot from my shooter in 3D
cleanrom2.8
Well, I'm liking this Seidio Active kickstand case I ordered so far. Doesn't feel quite as durable as otterbox, but enough protection for me. The silicone feel thinner and softer than my otterbox's too so we'll see. At least it's mostly the inner layer that's silicone with the outer hard plastic so maybe it will be ok.

I been rockin the hc black/black case since wedneseday. So far nothin but positive feelings. I posted a thread with pics of it next to the defender

Bumping this thread back up. I had the same problem with my Otterbox Commuter, where the silicon was stretching out too. They even sent me a replacement and the same thing still happened. I got the pink/white 'strength' version if it made a difference. I never took the silicon off that often and the phone is carried in my purse mostly. So I didn't understand how the silicon can stretch out like that.
Thinking of emailing them to let them know of the issue, but I don't really want any more phone cases from them. I ended up getting a Casemate slim case which I love. I also got the Casemate equiv of the Commuter and the silicon they use is much stiffer and fits a lot snugger.
OP you mentioned they offered you 2 replacements. Is it replacements for the same phone case? Or cases for other devices?

Any great case for EVO 4G LTE?

My dad recently bought HTC EVO 4G LTE, but he doesn't have a case yet. I'm thinking buying him a case for coming up Fathers' day. I don't know that many cell phone accessory providers, and I don't wanna get him something cheap ones from Amazon or eBay. It would be great if you can recommend me a specific product for my dad, or it can be just a name of the store.
Thank you in advance.
Well, if you equate cost with quality, you'll get recommendations for Otterbox or similar. But I just got my new Diztronics TPU case and it's fantastic, and it was only $10. That's my recommendation.
There are tons, likely have to be ordered so be fast. It all depends on how bulky/slim you want it. There are a few threads here, just read up.

Thinking about picking up a Seidio surface case. I just wish the power and volume rocker buttons were uncovered.

best case in my opinion and they come in different colors and are $9!!!

I have two driztronic. Matt black is the only way to go. The gloss is kinda sticky.
VERY impressed. Make sure whatever you do don't buy a plastic case if it doesn't have some sort of gel on the inside. They will scratch the crap out of your phone. I had two Seido's for my OG EVOs and they marred the finished on the edge of the phone TERRIBLY.
The defender is amazing great quality so far. Thinner than previous evos. Put mine next to my girlfriends shift and they r almost the same thickness

Just got my diztronic tpu case nicer than I expected.
I've only used skins on my phones (Phantom skinz etc) since I wanted to avoid thickness but this tpu case is thinner than I expected.
Highly recommend

Thin, low profile cases

What are some really thin cases out there? I just want moderate protection while maintaining the thin profile of the EVO. So far, I've read about the Barely There, Cruzerlite, Diztronic, Incipio and various other TPU type cases.
Are there any others?
Try the, Cimo Gloss Back Flexible TPU Case for HTC Evo 4G LTE (Sprint) - Black, on Amazon. It is only like $9. Really thin, cut outs for the usb, camera, is not perfect, but real sleek and thin. Another plus, for me anyways, is that the power button and volume rocker, are covered. Some cases have these cut out, another place dirt and dust can get it. Not perfect case, but for $9 can't really complain.
Just noticed on Amazon that they now have the, GreatShield Guardian S Series Slim Fit S-Line Design TPU Case for HTC EVO 4G LTE (Black)!! I had a similar case on my EVO 3D and it was amazing. Going to order me one right now lol

Hands down the best thin case money can buy is the Case Mate Barely There, I used on on my Evo3d and now my LTE, Covers it enough to not scratch it to hell, but still shows the beauty of the phone. Scour the net for a coupon to use on their site.
I have a diztronic as well, too large for me, and makes it hard to use the buttons in my opinion.

I have always been a fan of Incipio Feather and Case Mate Barely there as well but I just tried the Amzer Shellster case and holster combo and I love it. The case itself is a lot like the Case Mate Barely There but the kick stand is easier to get to and the holster is awesome too.
I don't know how thin you want but i find the otterbox commuter case pretty thin compared to some out there and love the protection it gives a well.

I don't have a TPU case to compare it to but from the pictures, i wouldn't say much more. Maybe a mm or two at the most? It's a very clean and lightweight case. I feel much better having it on now compared to it being naked. Had a buddy pick it up and was shocked to feel how it felt lighter and thinner than his own iphone4s. But they should have them back in stock in the stores now...they were on back order for weeks for a while.
+1 for CaseMate. I have one from Sprint. It was pricey, but it really is thin and works great!

I love my cruzerlite - I don't think it adds much bulk at all and it provides some character to the phone as well, without just being all-black.
I have both the Diztronic and the cimo case and I can tell you the Diztronic is def a little thinner. It doesnt add much bulk at all and works well against scratches and such. I misplaced it when I switched to a Seidio hard case, but the Seidio case sucks so im going back to tpu. This time im going to try the Incipio case and see how I like it. I would like to try the CaseMate barely there case but the thought of having the top and bottom exposed scares the crap out of me. The corners arent really covered and thats where phones tend to take the most damage when dropped.
I've been using the snap case by spigen. Basically the same as the "barely there" cases in design.
I also have the blue rubber case that sprint sent out, and the androidified tpu cases that I've never used.. This case is smaller then those, Can hardly even tell theres a case on it looking at it head on.
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/htc/htc-evo-4g-lte-snap-case-series.html
If Spigen came out with the Ultra Thin Air case for the LTEvo like they did for the One X, then I would jump on it in a minute. I want something like this that is very thin, ultra thin

I feel the same way. I much prefer Ballistic cases.
Ballistic must be a significantly smaller company than Otterbox (they surely haven't been around as long) because they are usually a little behind the game when it comes to releasing their heavier-duty cases. Seidio and Otterbox generally have them available much sooner.
Whatever the reason, the Ballistic cases (in my opinion) are worth the wait.
Can't wait for the pics and reviews! I will wait until then to buy one. The HC was a beast on the OG EVO. BTW you can get one off eBay for half the price.

Case arrived today...
Well, my Ballistics SG Maxx case for my Evo LTE arrived today. All in all, I like the case. The replaceable rigid screen protector is nice, but it is makes the screen SLIGHTLY less sensitive than the Otterbox Defender case. The difference is slight, but I notice it on my phone anyway. For those without the Otterbox case, it does de-sensitize the screen a bit, but NOT to the point that the screen is difficult to use.
As far as fit and feel, it feels sturdy enough for everyday use. The silicone is the softer type common to many phone cases. Compared to the silicone used on the Otterbox Defender case, it is not quite as rigid. It's squishier and slightly less-slick, but it is not cheap feeling, and it is pretty much only exposed on edges, corners, and front. It easily slides in and out of my pocket.
The case is thin and sleek. It actually feels slimmer than the Otterbox Defender case, but it isn't actually thinner. If anything, it is about 1/16" thicker.
The kickstand is not as sturdy as the one built into the phone (obviously). If you've had other Ballistic Evo cases with kickstands, it is the same break-away style used in the past. I, however, don't mind it, and I like the fact that there isn't a big open space on the back of the case to allow access to the factory kickstand.
One thing to note is that there are no mesh / fabric covers over the earpice or speaker. (The one showing in the pictures below is a piece of black microfiber cloth I slipped in there for extra protection from dust, etc.) The removeable screen protector has a ridge all the way around that locks into the front lips of the silicone cover, and that's what holds it in place. There are not covers over the camera or flash either (just like the Otterbox Defender case).
All in all, I like the case. It feels sturdy and sufficient for most users. It's not quite up to the Hardcore series case durability, but it feels pretty solid. Being a welder / metalworker, I'll still have to protect my phone from the inevitable metal dust and screen scratches plague my phones, but at least the screen cover is replaceable. Now if only Ballistic had the screen protectors available for purchase on their website...
If you do decide to buy this case from goballisticcase.com, try using the discount code "CONSTRUCTION" to get $10.00 off and free shiipping. As of the time of this writng, the discount code is still active.
Below are some (admittedly poor quality) pictures of my phone in the case. If you would like additional pictures, feel free to ask, and I'll oblige.

I have the sg and the sg maxx. Although there are a lot of similarities the maxx case has the additional screen protector, reinforced corners (silicone feels thicker to me), belt clip attachment, as well as port covers. It's essentially the same thing but I've been rocking it all day and I love it. Not really too beefy at all, but then again I've got really big hands. It feels good in the hand and I certainly prefer ballistic over otterbox. Much more stylized and I barely notice my phone having a case on it. But that's just my opinion. Would I recommend it? Hell yeah I would. I've had otterbox before and can't say that I was impressed with the protection it provided. Dropped from about waist height and broke the screen. Literally thrown my phones around in ballistic cases and not a scratch or anything

[Q] HTC Evo 4G LTE - Cases

I have been eyeing the Ottorbox Defender Series case for my HTC Evo 4G LTE. Has anyone else used this and how is it when trying to get to the top right and top left corners of the screen? Do you find yourself really having to dig hard (lol, that's what she said) to get to the corners?
I never had the defender for my LTE, but the commuter case is very easy to get on and off and provides a good amount of protection. All parts of the screen were easy to use.
I've got the Defender and have no complaints. The "rubber" otterbox uses now is much better than on my previous phones. No more silicone, but more of a tpu material.

I got a trident kraken. Same thing besides the rubber is against the phone and plastic shell on the outside. Easy to get to the corners if that helps any
