Anyone know of a decent rugged case with holster that still allows you to text easily? I have the otter defender which is rugged but typing on it sucks because the case comes into the the screen to tightly. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I use the Seido/ Pt Convert. I had the Otterbox Defender and didn't like and returned it to Best Buy after a day. Got the BB branded Convert and I like it so far.
Im using the defender also and can type with no issues what so ever.
Maybe you need a dialing wand???
I have the same question. I got rid of the defender for the same reason.
I have the same problem with the defender, I'm returning it and getting the Balisics HC when it come out for the 3D.
Sent from my E3D using Tapatalk
The Defender is much better than I expected. This issue is my main issue with the case.
I dont have any issues with the defender at all...and I have fat fingers...so...its more a matter of preference than anything.. the high sides arent an issue for me at all
I have the Defender also, typing on it is a pain. The Q and P are very difficult to get at. My girlfriend has the same issue and she has tiny fingers.
I hope the ballistic case will be better.
My only issue with the ballistic is i didnt always need the outer rubber layer on my phone. Only when in extreme conditions. Well without the outer layer on alot of the buttons and ports are exposed. And the ballistic for the 3d looks to have the same issue. If you look at the right side of the innercases on the ballistic page for the evo3d youll see that the camera button and the 2d/3d button is exposed. And im willing to bet that just like the og evo the audio jack and charging port is exposed to. This was a problem because dust would pile up in those areas. This is why i chose the otterbox defender bc even outside the holdster every area is covered. Now obviously with the extra silicone layer on the ballisic on the phone it would definitely be able to take a longer or harder fall then the otterbox but the ballistic case outside the rubber silicone case i actually think is worst then the otterbix defender. Me and my co worker had a habbit of falling as sleep with our phones in our lap in our work van and when wed get out the phones would go flying. My hard balistic case would actually pop open everytime and scuffed on the corners. His otterbox had the soft rubber outside layer which absorbed the falls better never scuffed or popped open. This is just my opinion though i have had both cases and seen them in action not just on the phone
My dad recently bought HTC EVO 4G LTE, but he doesn't have a case yet. I'm thinking buying him a case for coming up Fathers' day. I don't know that many cell phone accessory providers, and I don't wanna get him something cheap ones from Amazon or eBay. It would be great if you can recommend me a specific product for my dad, or it can be just a name of the store.
Thank you in advance.
Well, if you equate cost with quality, you'll get recommendations for Otterbox or similar. But I just got my new Diztronics TPU case and it's fantastic, and it was only $10. That's my recommendation.
There are tons, likely have to be ordered so be fast. It all depends on how bulky/slim you want it. There are a few threads here, just read up.

Thanks for the replies. i will look through the list of EVO 4G cases.
Thinking about picking up a Seidio surface case. I just wish the power and volume rocker buttons were uncovered.
I recommend this one there are one with the holster for $50 and another one for $24 without the holster it looks awesome

best case in my opinion and they come in different colors and are $9!!!

I have two driztronic. Matt black is the only way to go. The gloss is kinda sticky.
VERY impressed. Make sure whatever you do don't buy a plastic case if it doesn't have some sort of gel on the inside. They will scratch the crap out of your phone. I had two Seido's for my OG EVOs and they marred the finished on the edge of the phone TERRIBLY.
The defender is amazing great quality so far. Thinner than previous evos. Put mine next to my girlfriends shift and they r almost the same thickness

Just got my diztronic tpu case nicer than I expected.
I've only used skins on my phones (Phantom skinz etc) since I wanted to avoid thickness but this tpu case is thinner than I expected.
Highly recommend
I bought the otterbox commuter for my new evolte because i thought the defender looked too big. Anyone know if there is a belt clip holster that will work with this case? I prefer to not carry the phone in my pocket.
I was wondering the same thing. I love this case, but need a clip. I'm going to email them tomorrow

I think your best options would be to try the seidio active or convert holders. I'm not sure that these will work, just merely giving suggestions to try to point you guys in the right direction. I'm using the diztronic tpu case and it works wonderfully with the seidio surface holster. Go to seidio.com and take a look. The surface is for minimal protection, the active is a little thicker with a slightly bigger holster and the convert offers the most protection which requires a bigger holster. They do sell the holsters separately. Also, they have a coupon code for 15% off and free shipping, I believe it Is dad2012 or something along the lines of that, Google it you will find it.
Wow sounds like an advertisement when re reading ha!

Here is some info I gathered for the various Seidio and Otterbox cases:
Seidio cases: I got this info directly from Seidio chat.
The ACTIVE case is : 5.5 x 2.9 x 0.6 inches
The CONVERT case is 5.8 x 3.2 x 1.8 inches
Otterbox cases: From otterbox website
Defender DIMENSIONS: 5.66 in x 3.08 in x .068 in
146.51 mm x 85.67 mm x 37.36 mm
Commuter case ??? still don't know, it is not posted on the website.
Judging by the info I gathered, is really hard to say which holster would "fit better" as I have no idea how the compatibility is and the dimensions are rather close. If you guys are able to get the dimensions of the Commuter, I think you can make a guess which holster would fit better. Good luck!
I am really curious as to what would work as well because when I got my evo 3d last year I had the exact same question. In the end I just went with a Surface combo and purchased a TPU case as back up. It Just to turned out that the TPU case fit perfect in the Seidio Surface holster. I liked the combo so much, I am doing the same for the Evo LTE, Diztronic TPU with Seidio Surface holster.

For wearing my phone at construction sites i've used this:
http://www.occidentalleather.com/product.php?sku=5068&type=
I modified it by lining it with neoprene. It is ugly and not stylish but will protect your phone short of it getting crushed. The inside is unlined leather so you may want to line it with something. It is very heavy duty and has lasted me since I bought the original EVO. Only reason I've bought another is due to the new evo not fitting with the defender case. Comes in black and brown.

I would just go with the defender combo. I am a mechanic and that's what I use. It's also not that bad on your belt not much more than the 3d. The seidio active is a good compromise for bulk and protection that's what I used on my 3d. I just like that the defender leaves the kickstand exposed.

I'm looking for a nice case to get for my phone when I get it on Sept 1st. It looks like the Trident Line is coming out now. I seen on Amazon these two types. The Kracken is just too big
Cyclops: http://www.amazon.com/Trident-Cy-Cy...343402196&sr=1-15&keywords=evo+4g+lte+trident
http://www.cyclopscase.com/cyclops-ii-case-for-htc-evo-4g-lte-red/
Aegis http://www.amazon.com/Trident-Case-...1343402196&sr=1-8&keywords=evo+4g+lte+trident
These both look like they would both be great cases without adding much bulk to the phone. What do you guys think? The Cyclops looks to be a bit more protection looking at pictures on other sites.
I loved my Aegis case in the epic touch. It can be compared to the otterbox commuter because there's 2 parts to it. Needless to say I'll be getting the Aegis.

The level of protection equals that of the commuter. I like this cases because they put dust covers over the speaker and mic

The Aegis is more or less equivalent to the Commuter, the Cyclops to the Defender. I had a Cyclops case on my Evo 3D for a year, was definitely the best designed case for that phone. Since the EVO LTE Cyclops was delayed for so long, I got an EVO LTE Defender and I'm surprisingly happy with it. The Defender has a textured hard outer rubber layer and does not accumulate nearly as much lint and skin oil as the Evo 3D Defender did. I am still going to try out the new Cyclops, but it does not have any anti-skid rubber areas on the front and only a small area on the back, so it will be more prone to accidental drops than the Defender.

For anyone who was waiting, the Ballistic SG Maxx case for the Evo LTE is now available on their website.

Don't hold your breath for a more rugged case for the Evo LTE from Ballistic. I emailed them and asked if they are planning on making an HC-series case for the Evo LTE, but they told me they have no plans to do so at this time.

I feel the same way. I much prefer Ballistic cases.
Ballistic must be a significantly smaller company than Otterbox (they surely haven't been around as long) because they are usually a little behind the game when it comes to releasing their heavier-duty cases. Seidio and Otterbox generally have them available much sooner.
Whatever the reason, the Ballistic cases (in my opinion) are worth the wait.
Can't wait for the pics and reviews! I will wait until then to buy one. The HC was a beast on the OG EVO. BTW you can get one off eBay for half the price.

I tried both Ballistic SG and HC cases for Evo 3D and hated the break-away kickstand. The Evo LTE version of SG case has the same flimsy kickstand and blocks access to the sturdy built-in one.

Case arrived today...
Well, my Ballistics SG Maxx case for my Evo LTE arrived today. All in all, I like the case. The replaceable rigid screen protector is nice, but it is makes the screen SLIGHTLY less sensitive than the Otterbox Defender case. The difference is slight, but I notice it on my phone anyway. For those without the Otterbox case, it does de-sensitize the screen a bit, but NOT to the point that the screen is difficult to use.
As far as fit and feel, it feels sturdy enough for everyday use. The silicone is the softer type common to many phone cases. Compared to the silicone used on the Otterbox Defender case, it is not quite as rigid. It's squishier and slightly less-slick, but it is not cheap feeling, and it is pretty much only exposed on edges, corners, and front. It easily slides in and out of my pocket.
The case is thin and sleek. It actually feels slimmer than the Otterbox Defender case, but it isn't actually thinner. If anything, it is about 1/16" thicker.
The kickstand is not as sturdy as the one built into the phone (obviously). If you've had other Ballistic Evo cases with kickstands, it is the same break-away style used in the past. I, however, don't mind it, and I like the fact that there isn't a big open space on the back of the case to allow access to the factory kickstand.
One thing to note is that there are no mesh / fabric covers over the earpice or speaker. (The one showing in the pictures below is a piece of black microfiber cloth I slipped in there for extra protection from dust, etc.) The removeable screen protector has a ridge all the way around that locks into the front lips of the silicone cover, and that's what holds it in place. There are not covers over the camera or flash either (just like the Otterbox Defender case).
All in all, I like the case. It feels sturdy and sufficient for most users. It's not quite up to the Hardcore series case durability, but it feels pretty solid. Being a welder / metalworker, I'll still have to protect my phone from the inevitable metal dust and screen scratches plague my phones, but at least the screen cover is replaceable. Now if only Ballistic had the screen protectors available for purchase on their website...
If you do decide to buy this case from goballisticcase.com, try using the discount code "CONSTRUCTION" to get $10.00 off and free shiipping. As of the time of this writng, the discount code is still active.
Below are some (admittedly poor quality) pictures of my phone in the case. If you would like additional pictures, feel free to ask, and I'll oblige.

I have the sg and the sg maxx. Although there are a lot of similarities the maxx case has the additional screen protector, reinforced corners (silicone feels thicker to me), belt clip attachment, as well as port covers. It's essentially the same thing but I've been rocking it all day and I love it. Not really too beefy at all, but then again I've got really big hands. It feels good in the hand and I certainly prefer ballistic over otterbox. Much more stylized and I barely notice my phone having a case on it. But that's just my opinion. Would I recommend it? Hell yeah I would. I've had otterbox before and can't say that I was impressed with the protection it provided. Dropped from about waist height and broke the screen. Literally thrown my phones around in ballistic cases and not a scratch or anything
