CWM flashable stock kernel - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Is there a CWM flashable stock ICS kernel?

For the note, the usual order:
1. Flash CWM kernel on the stock ICS
2. Flash a rooted kernel.

Here's everything you need in the first post. Take a minute to thank Bigjoe when you are in his thread.

[KERNEL] GT-I9100 ROOTED STOCK Kernels by STOCK+ Team (ALL NEW VERSIONS + TOUCH CWM!)

Hello everyone,
STOCK+ Team ($omator & Grooby) are proud to bring you the latest rooted kernels based on samsung stock kernels that you may find in ROM by Samsung.
Why should i use this kernel?
Our kernels are uber-minimal modification of stock kernel used only for rooting (no custom recovery is installed). So the kernel it's like stock just rooted, and there is small chance (or any chance) that it will be detected as modified by service center at the first look
Please find latest of kernels listed below:
ROOTED! I9100XXLPH - ICS (4.0.3) - CL: 1104396 - B.Date: 16-02-2012 -[/b] Touch CWM Recovery Download HERE!
ROOTED! I9100XXLPB - ICS (4.0.3) - CL: 99600 - B.Date: 29-01-2012 - Samsung Recovery Download HERE! or Touch CWM Recovery Download HERE!
Instructions:
1. Flash zImage.tar of choosen kernel using odin (you will find it in package)
2. enable usb debugging in settings->applications
3. while still connected and odin/kies is turned off, run RUNME.BAT (also in package)
4. Install latest Superuser.apk from market!
5. Profit!

Can we get a CWM flashable zip of the touch based version?
Sorry for my stupid question but is this only for ICS? I'm little confused, or can we use this for stock to?

Its for ICS as stated in first post if you want to request any other kernel let me know in this thread.
Also, for now we provide only ODIN images, which is most suitable for people with or without CWM already installed.
Thanks!
(ODIN is in the package.)
I havent used odin in a whille. Could someone please refresh my memory, which do I flash this under, pda, phone or csc? I obviously know this isn't bootloader

Like i thought, I got confused.by the stock if you could do a kernel for stock ROM with touch recovery it would be awesome.
You just got Samsunged from Tapatalk
Do we need to execute runme.bat if the phone is already rooted and has su installed?
First of all its a stock rom (dont mix it with team name which is STOCKPLUS) + the touch CWM added (su will install automatically) so just flash with ODIN as PDA and enjoy samsung rom with good recovery and root
secondly, if you got a su installed then you dont need to run runme.bat, just install superuser from market or from package shipped with kernel (adb install Superuser.apk)
Enjoy!

It is stock kernel with touch recovery to get stock rom with touch recovery just install stock ROM (LPB) and then flash this kernel simple and clean

Flashed Using Odin, Want to Install JB... Now what?

So real quick....
I rooted my phone with ODIN last night, so I'm still running AT&T Rom and Stock 3e. I am trying to get JB installed but don't know where to go from here. I need to get Clockwork Recovery right? If so, how can I get that on my phone? I did read I should not used ROM MANAGER!
Sorry for the stupidity! I got JB on my last Galaxy before it broke I'm just confused because I did it a different was last time. Thanks for the help!
just flash a custom kernel with ODIN. That'll give you CWM recovery. then you can flash whatever you want.

Ok, is Odin 1.85 sufficient (or is there a newer one) and then can I just flash it with Siyah 4.1.4?
IDK much about Odin. But if it worked for ya the first time it should be good.
for the kernel, you must find one in a format Odin uses and not in the normal .zip which requires CWM recovery to flash.
Right now .tar is the only one that comes to mind for Odin.

I would flash a kernel that is compatible with whatever ROM you have currently. Then flash a JB ROM from CWM . Flash Siyah after you have JB if that is the kernel you want. I think you would get boot looped if kernel and ROM are mismatched.

Okay cool. I know this might be asking a lot but can you just link to me a Kernel that will work with the ROM I have? It's still the AT&T Stock Rom 2.3.4 with Baseband I777UCKH7 and Kernel 2.6.35.7.

Take a look at the guide which is the top link in my signature. It will give you a little more detail on what you want to do, and has links to the available Gingerbread kernels.

the only point in flashing a kernel compatible with a ROM, would be if you wanted to boot into the ROM.
Yes, flashing a kernel meant for a different version will most likely bootloop.
You can flash any kernel you want if you have no intentions on booting the system.
Recovery inside the kernel has nothing to do with what ROM your running. Will always be able to boot into recovery. Or **** broke
I give you lots of credit for reading not to use rom manager!

If you use Mobile Odin you can flash a custom kernel that will install CWM and then flash a custom ROM with CWM. I do this so I do not mess with the flash counter.

It sounds like you're taking the same route I did to root my phone. I first flashed a rooted, stock ICS ROM, then I flashed the Siyah kernel using Mobile Odin, then I eventually went on to flash a JB ROM (SuperNexus) using Mobile Odin. I'm sure I could have skipped that step of flashing Siyah because SuperNexus flashes a CM kernel anyway, but I kinda didn't know what I was doing.

[Q] Flashing in second ROM

what happens if I flash stock Sammy ROM via Mobile Odin in second ROM (Siyah) ? thanks
Why don't you flash it via recovery?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
It is not flashable zip, it's the JB leak from SamMobile.

When you flash something being on 2nd rom (Siyah) from mobile odin - it will flash it to the 1st rom (not the 2nd). There is no possibility to flash TAR rom package directly to 2nd rom in Siyah.
so the question is - is there any flashable zip of the leak ?

Pac man rom for gt i9100

I recently heard about PAC MAN ROM 4.2.2 for Galaxy GT I9100 which is hybrid of different ROMs like Paranoid, CynogenMod etc. I wanted to know how much stable is this ROM in terms of performance and battery life. Additionally, is custom kernel and CWM required to install this ROM or simply flashing the new ROM will do the job? I really am looking forward to installing this ROM in my phone
I have rooted S2 GT I 9100 with official 4.1.2, stock recovery and stock kernel.

Like all custom ROMs, PACman ROM requires CWM and root. You don't need a custom kernel per se, but flashing a custom kernel is the best way to get root as well as CWM.

Can you please suggest me a stable custom Kernel that would be comparatively safe for my device GT I9100. I would be quite glad if you would help me with it...:good:
In discussing about the kernel in this thread in post# 619 pg 62 Viper has suggested me with Philz Kernel and FAQs of PacMan ROM, they suggest Dorimax Kernel for my device. So, are these kernel better in performance than the stock kernel or not and does performance of ROM depend upon kernel as well? Since I can backup my ROM and flash new ROM with temporary CWM, I am thinking of using it instead of other custom kernel so as not to mess up with my stock kernel.

Actually all custom kernels are safe. Just make sure (by reading the instructions) you flash the compatible one.
Philz-kernel for example cannot be used with PAC. Just try the stock kernel. If you don't like it, you can try (for example) Dorimanx kernel.

No you don't need to un-root and like her said.......read the instructions and search forums for specific kernals for specific ROMs. I'm not sure but I don't think dorimanx is compatible with ALL ROMs.
Anyone clarify?

Restoring to stock
After flashing PACMan version of 4.2.2, if I need to for warranty, can I simply go to CWM recovery and restore previously created backup of my stock ROM?

No, you need to do a back up to your pc first using kies preferably.....this will make sure its put back to stock standard for warranty purposes.
I thought s2/i9100's were too old to be warrant'd now?
Error in /emmc/...while flashing Pac Man 4.2
I tried to flash PacMan 4.2 but encountered problem. Posted my issue in this thread but no solution received yet.
Got error message something like
"assert failed get prop ("ro.product.device") == "galaxys2" ||getprop("ro.buil.product")==galaxys2.....Error in /emmc/[file location]....Installation aborted..."
Tried to flash pac_i9100_4.2-milestone.1.release_20130806-205645.zip (MD5sum: 5e569d28ae20c0dbb45c71a212a35ce4)
I searched the forum but some say its problem with CWM recovery and others tell about corrupted file. I downloaded file twice incl previous release of the ROM. I even explored the zipped file and could navigate to most of the folders which I think that suggests that file is fine (no corrupted download).
I used temporary CWM v. 6.0.1.4. Should I try Dorimanx Kernel as the developer of ROM suggests the kernel for the ROM.
I currently have official JB 4.1.2, stock recovery and kernel. GT I9100.

i9100 Rooted but no CWM

Hello everyone, greeting from Turkey!
First of all im a newbie for android rooting and romming etc. I ve always used stock roms since ive got this phone. Now Im running a I9100 (int.) with stock Turkish 4.1.2 (XXLS8) on it and i ve rooted it via superuser.zip with my stock recovery.
What i want to do is to install CWM and want to flash a RELIABLE and Long Battery life rom. Are there anyways for me to install a CWM without using odin (via stock recovery). And can you please suggest me a good rom for daily usage. (i want to use vanilla android btw [just like nexus]).
Thank you for your helps.
I don't know much about roms/kernels for the international version, but you will need to flash a stock kernel with cwm and then just choose a rom from your development thread and follow the instructions, don't forget making backups and reading a lot, you can start from flashing cyanogenmod.
