Charging with Factory Cable - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi all,
I received Factory Cable two days ago and I don't know how to charge for my Motorola Razr.
Could you please guide me how to charge/use?

Not an expert, but I am not sure you can just charge with it. You can power the razr and use the cable to load an operating system with Droid Utility (matt groff application) that will allow the device to charge normally.

Atrix wont charge only seen by PC in RSd or Fastboot mode

I just picked up a used atrix that the owner said wouldn't charge. I swapped a known good battery in it and was able to get it to boot up. Thinking the USB port probably need replaced I looked for damage but could not find any and all the water sensors are fine. It wont charge from AC or from my computer and I have tried with 3 different known good USB cables and 3 different known good wall units that provide at least 5v (2 were official motorola chargers). Oddly enough my computer only detects that the phone is plugged in if the phone is in RSD mode or fastboot mode. I used rsdlite to flash back the 4.5.91 sbf hoping that a factory restore would do some magic but still no charging or mass storage mode identification. Any ideas or do I need to get comfortable with a soldering iron?

same problem here, hopefully someone finds a fix.
For the heck of it i created an active usb cable and re did the auto unlock procedure and flashed epinters latest cm10 build. After boot the charge indicator came on but still didn't appear to be charging. Rebooted into recovery and factory reset then powered it down. I then plugged it into my tablets usb charger that outputs at least 9v and for the first time it went to the charge screen. Now it seems that it's able to charge again finally.

Google it. In a nutshell, an active cable is a cable that has the fifth micro-USB pin (which is normally unused) connected to the (+) pin.

[Q] Battery Replacement

Hi there
one of my friends opened his droid razr xt910 and took off the battery by force. So, he cut the wire cable that is connected to the board.
he does not want his device and searching for a method to start the device to take his files without buying a new battery.
Is there any way we can force the device to power up without battery.. I mean can we use an alternative method to power the device?
I used Factory cable for doing this.
Anyhow I read that open the device and short-circuit cable wires and motherboard is quite simple
does the factory cable power up the device ?
I thought it is for SPF mode only or with RSD LITE

[Q] Can a droid razr function without a battery? and more

I have a droid razr but no battery for it. Can it function without one if not where can i get one? I know that i could use a moto factory cord to operate it for a short period of time. Also, i would need a factory cord or need to make one, so how would i go about that. I was planning on rooting and possibly flashing a rom based on JB. How would I do that and what is involved thanks in advance!
Hello CVanB,
Droid Razr can work without battery as long as it is connected to USB with factory cable. You can buy it or make yourself one, there're tons of guides avaialable about factory cable.
Thanks

What would be the most direct guide for making a factory cable?
I've run one with no battery. I exposed the wires from usb to micro usb. Connected two wires directly to terminals on phone and plugged it in.

[Q] razr maxx hd - only certain types of cable to charge?

Hi,
I use a normal usb to micro usb cable but it doesn't charge my razr maxx hd. After playing around, I realize only the official cable that came with my razr maxx hd can charge it. I have tried both using computer usb and the wall adapter, and still the same result.
If I want to get a spare (and longer) usb cable to charge my razr maxx hd, how should I go about doing it? Is there a certain type of usb cable I should look out for?
Thanks in advance!

Ran

First of all, this s not the Razr HD forum. This covers XT910/XT912 only.
As to your question, you shouldn't use any other cable except the one that came with your phone. Its harmful for your battery as well.
You can use an extension cable if you want to increase the length.

question mark in battery icon

On Driod razr, I see a question mark inside a big battery icon when trying to boot, either into recovery or normally. I made a factory cable according to instructions and also have a cable that came with the phone, which I presume is the oft-mentioned "factory cable" Neither cable, neither plugged in to a computer nor a wall charger, and left for hours, does any good. When I plug in to a computer, I see the white light, but my kernel log (Linux Mint) shows no messages at all, so I can't access the device storage via adb or direct file system mount, as I used to be able to do.
This turned out to be, in part, a discharged battery problem. After no success with factory cables, I opened the case and connected directly to the battery. After that, I was able to use droid razr utility to reinstall jellybean. That left me with an entirely different problem, but that will be a different thread.
