Hey all,
Is anyone aware of a Camera / Video app for ICS that will write out Mpeg2 or AVCHD videos rather than 3gp / mp4?
I'm trying to playback videos via DLNA from a Samsung GS3 to a Sony Bravia 40EX403, which doesn't support 3gp or mp4 over DLNA.
It will play them back if I connect the phone up to the USB socket on the tv, but doing it via wifi would be handier.
Any advice would be appreciated ( other than buy a newer tv )

Hi all.
I was wondering if you guys know if it's possible to change any settings in the video recording app in x10 mini (android 2.1) ? The ideal for me would be able to record in anything other than 3gp. I have also searched the market for an app which converts 3gp to another format (on the phone I mean) but didn't find anything.
The reason I want to do this is because I have found a pretty great free app, which I recommend to everyone, which is called TwonkyServer Mobile : it transforms your phone into a DLNA server, so you can directly view photos, music and videos that are on your phone to your TV through any other DLNA device such as XBOX, PS3, Bravia TV, media centers, etc...
It amazes all the people to who I demoed this : you take a pic from your phone, launch twonkyserver, and BOOM it's on your TV
It would be so great of I could do the same with videos, but 3gp formats are not recognised by most media centers...
try lgcamera from the market it can record in mp4 and avc..
thanks dude !! will try it tonight and let you know how it went ;-)
Dude ! The LG app is unusable, it crashes all the time, I cant use this.

Hi,
I am able to stream Music -mp3 and Pictures - Jpeg in my Bravia(40Ex710), but no videos yet
Could you help me in this
Media Server :Twonky -Xperia X10
Thanks in Advance
I still have the same problem. The issue comes from the fact that the phone only records videos in 3gp format, and the TV does not have the 3gp codec to read it. There are only 3 solutions :
- wait for bravia update to have a 3gp codec (and this might take forever).
- find another video recording app working on the x10 mini which can record in another format such as MP4 (but I haven't found it).
- find another app which can convert 3gp to mp4 on the phone (can't find it either).
If any of you guys have a clue for this, I would be very thankfull.
Is there a way to use AllShare (or some other app) that will allow to transcode video while streaming over DLNA?
What I wanted to do is to stream mkv video files to a PS3, as the SGS2 (and other apps like mxvideo) support it on android, can this be transcoded to mpeg2 or other codec so the PS3 can play them when streaming from the phone?
Hi All,
My XT910 (JB 4.1.2 Retail.EU) can access my notebook by SMB and DLNA.
Using MX Player to play some 720P MKV / MP4 videos and works well.
But when I connect HDMI for output to my TV, MX Player just keep loading.
I've do some tests and here is my results.
1. Files access from phone storage (Internal / SD) => Local and HDMI are both work.
2. Files access from SMB (ES File Manager) => Local ok but HDMI fail (Keep Loading)
3. Files access from DLNA (Skifta) => Local ok but HDMI fail (Keep Loading)
4. Tested by select HW / HW+ / SW decoder in MX Player settings.
5. Play from Motocast => Same results with above 1-3 tests.
Is this probelm caused by player or XT910?
How can I play my video files from SMB and DLNA and output to HDMI?
I'm checking to see if the snapdragon 800 / adreno 330 at the heart of the xperia Z ultra can playback mkv bluray rips made using makemkv (free while in beta, aka forever) from makemkv.com. (caution resulting file can be 15-30GB)
I'd like to hear if anyone has tried it, either off a SNB (windows) share on a 801.11 N or AC wireless network or right from the microsd card.
The best apps to try for playback are:
bsplayer
Archos Video player (with codec add-on for sound)
VLC nightlys (not available in the play store, google for the apk)
I'm considering getting this phone or another based on the snapdragon 800 and want to know if it can flawlessly playback these files and for bonus points if anyone has successfully been able to output the playback over MHL/HDMI cable to a larger 1080p display.
Thanks!
i play my 1080p Movie mp4 rips and they perform great
tho the video app cant play avi video formats sadly
I use 'dice player' and it works well for mkv file even streaming.

I'm guessing these are re-compressed 1080p movies. I want to know if the phone can handle playback of the actual video streams on the bluray itself. MakeMKV rips the actual video streams and puts them all in a mkv container. The resulting file is often 20-30GB, not the 5-10GB of the 1080p files I'm guessing you tried. BTW, if you try the apps I listed above (diceplayer too as was recommended) you will have no trouble playing back those old AVI files.
720p 10bits mkv ( vlc/mx player) flawless
1080p 10bits mkv( vlc/mx player) flawless
Dvd rip. Iso ( vlc/mx player / base player) vieuweble

Great testing, looking forward to your results tonight! Is your link speed on wireless close to 300Mbit?
Also, try Archos (google: archos video player apk and Archos Video All Codecs Plugin) and bsplayer are good ones to try.
Great to hear about 10bit 1080p anime releases too!
Thanks a bunch!

Anyone had any luck adding support for AC3/DTS audio codecs to stock video player? I've tried methods in this thread, designed for 32-bit devices running KitKat, http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-sound-support-galaxy-tab-pro-8-4-tw-t2964732, but it didn't do anything on my Galaxy S6 Edge.
Dice Player, MX Player of course have the necessary support for these codecs. But when it comes to streaming videos to TV via an Allshare Cast Wireless Hub, only the stock video player is able to play directly to TV "DLNA style", rather than just mirror screen. And that results in considerably smoother playback..
What's your best combination of software/hardware for streaming videos from your phone to TV?
I use vlc player.
