Okay I have tried everything I could before coming to this point, so you guys are my last hope... Basically I upgraded my partners live with walkman phone to ICS. Now she is complaining because it crashes all the time etc... So I followed one of the guides on here to downgrade. I downloaded flashtool and I downloaded the firmware. I deleted everything in the frimware folder as per the instructions. I then copied ans pasted the gingerbread firmware into the folder and exited...
Then whenever I try to flash it, it says I need to install the drivers... I've tried to do that by going to the drivers folder etc. I've installed everything in there but nothing works and the LWW isn't listed anyway...
I've even tried doing this through my linux partition and that was a little over my head... Had to do all sorts in the terminal, I did try but no luck there either...
I've seen people in the comments ask for help and they seemed to have no problem when directed to the guide... I have follwed the guide to a tee multiple times, this is why I hate myself! lol
Please Please help me so I can shut my whining other half up! Trust me she whines even more than me! lol
Just thought I'd bump it to see if someone can help today.

Does anyone have any advice for me? I really can't figure out what i'm doing wrong... Is it because I need to update flashtool or something? It seems I do have the latest version though...

Have a look in the 'Sony Ericsson Mini/mini pro/active/ray section. That's the section for your phone, asking the question there will get you a lot more solutions and faster.

hi guys, im sorry i bet you get loads of people sign up just to ask questions.. truth be told ive been following the lightning ROM thread before but i really am right up s%*t alley now i just dont know what else to do.
i had lightning ROM v1-3 and all was great and someone said i should upgrade to ICS.. stupidly i didnt realise it was in development stage, and having it been so long since i did the odin process i forgot what to do so i watched a youtube vid on how to install firmware...
this is where it started to go wrong, and in hindsight i was a pillock!
anyhow i put the phone into download mode as the vid suggested (this method did it by putting the zip file onto the sd card and then installing from the recovery screen, rather than using odin...)
it then asked me to go to some settings and delete them.. one was wipe data/ factory reset. then cache partition, then lastly mount usb storage.
then i proceeded to install from sd card and it never worked.. just kept on giving E: error messages.. and now the phone wont boot up at all and im having the most difficult time putting ANY new firmware on it at all.. ive been trying to go back to lightning ROM 6.1, using odin etc... but it wont get past the <ID:0/006> SetupConnection.. phase :-(
im afraid ive tried several things but nothing has prevailed... the only screens i can see are the recovery screen and the yellow triangle screen when i turn it on. well and truly fubar :-(
does anyone have any ideas please? next time im going to stick to what i know and am happy with and lightning rom was certainly that!
thanks in advance
Dave
not to sure but try reading post about bricked sg2 you might find your answer there mate
yeah i started reading through that and tried the factory settings method but still no luck :-s
would like to help , what kind of phone is it? i think that you are in "nandroid recovery
Have you tried flashing the original firmware that was on your device?

Factory reset>Flash stock ROM, you'll find the link with "search".
You still have recovery and download modes - you should be OK.
Follow the instructions in the thread you search for to the letter.
I'm not being more obtuse than usual by giving you no links - it means you have to read, and the info you glean will stand you in good stead.
i have not tried flashing stock ROM yet.. thanks for the pointer... i dont know how to do this but i shall be attempting it next..
its ok i know how to use the search facility.. it does annoy me also when people expect to be spoon fed!
my apologies its the GSII..
just following the advice in softbricking now.. see if that helps.

Try unplugging you phone and removing the battery for a minute. Then go into download mode and test if it works.
I had the same problem and simply restarting the phone did it for me. I don't know why it got stuck bit it just didn't work. Also disable Kies if you have it and try a different computer if all else fails.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that you should flash a stock rom but other posters already mentioned it.
how do you disable kies? i was confused as some people said to download it to help...?

Hey thanks for the speedy reply but as I said in the OP I have tried this guide (well not this one but one exactly the same)... I have downloaded flashtool I have downloaded the firmware (gingerbread). I have done evrything, put it in the right folder etc... Just when I try to flash it it says I need to install the drivers, it comes up red... I go to the drivers folder install them but nothing works... Just keeps saying I must install drivers...
Still looking for a solution here guys, having no luck though... Any suggestions?

Windows is asking you for drivers? Your post isn't very clear...you probably need to install adb drivers on your pc, have you done that? Also ics on lww shouldn't crash and reboot all the time, did you upgrade through pcseus or through flashtools?

Stupid question but its worth checking; do you have the newest usb drivers installed on your computer? I had this same screen come up when unlocking my bootloader the other day but upon booting into fastboot like the program says it was fixed.

the version was 2.3.6 i did a quick search for atrix root and found this http://www.androidauthority.com/atrix-4g-android-2-3-6-firmware-4-5-141-root-63533/
followed the directions and tada, brick.... i knew i should have come to xda, but when i searched the forum there was just so much, one post sid to do this, the next one said that was wrong, then most of the links for downloading the rooting files were no longer working.
in short, i was being impatient, the phone has been acting really wierd, i got the phone from a friend, only had it for 2 days.
So you haven´t flashed any sbf via RSD yet? (NOT RECOMMENDED)
Please try the steps described in the link we gave you - if you manage to access rsd or fastboot again, you could save the device
Edit:
The device still has a locked bootloader?

Travis, not to sound rude, but did you read my first post? i have been reading and trying different things for over 5 hours now and nothing yet has worked. that is why i created a new topic.
i apologize if i posted this topic in the wrong place, there were other topics relating to similar things.
First, questions go in Q&A. Second, don't pay attention to Travis - not worth your time.
Third, you are probably SOL (hard bricked). Not much hope if the automated method didn't work. You can look here to see if anything helps. Good luck!
what i would personally do is download the full SBF pudding file that corresponds to your phone type, and flash it. not the unlocker file, the full .sbf that includes all the firmware and everything.
after that, do a fastboot OEM unlock command
if that doesn't solve your problem, then it's a hard brick.
are you on at&t

Yep don't pay attention to me, I always read XDA on my computer and the time I was reading your post it was on my phone so I didn't pay too much attention to your post I'm sorry. and thanks upndwn4par for poiting him, but you don't have to be that rude with me, we're XDA-Atrixs-mates
I was trying to return to stock using Heimdall. It failed for some reason. Whenever I have tried to use it it always says it failed but this time it went further then usual but the end result was a fail. I think it just repartitioned but I'm not sure. Anyways the only thing it would do is boot into cwm and download mode. So I restored a backup a previously made. Same thing it only booted into download mode and cwm. So I went and tried to flash through odin. Everything worked fine and still the same thing. So then I followed the unbrick thread on XDA and flashed the file and everything finished and said successful but my device would not boot up at all. Doing a little more research it seems that the unbrick method was for 5.0 devices only which I don't know why it isn't placed in plain sight for everyone to see but anyways now I have a dead device. Has anyone had any success with fixing this problem?

Wrong attitude, man. XDA is a free service and you are soliciting unpaid help. Follow the forum rules.
Most, if not all, of our Galaxy Player forum developers and contributors pay attention to all threads and you will get an answer from someone who knows.
If not, look in the development forum and find a developer and send a PM.
Don't clutter the wrong forum with your pleas for help, acting like you're the only one with that problem.

And you expect really having an answer here? You are serious right? Please tell me 1 recent thread on general that haven't been replied and then we can see if we never replies. Geez people are never grateful from what I see...
You guys are getting upset for the wrong reason. I have no attitudes and I'm just looking for help. I tried the other forum and didn't get any reply so I moved it to this forum and I am seeing some activity. I didn't know it was a crime. I was asked a question and an answer was given. Don't mistake a straight forward answer for an attitude. Thanks for your input. Now is there a solution for my problem? The SGP is my little nephews and I experimented with it and messed it up. All I want is a point in the right direction.
It might be a kernal issue. Try flashing a kernal for the 4 and see if that works.

Alright, let's all take a deep breath and chill. We empathize with you, dude, we really do.
We need to address another XDA rule that you overlooked. (Understandably. No biggie. Not calling you out, just saying.)
When you post on XDA, you need to be as thorough about your problem as possible, so we don't clutter the thread with Q&A.
1. Symptoms of the problem: What works and doesn't?
2. Any reactions to button presses? Lights? Screen? Sound?
3. Any evidence that it's booting?
4. Does your computer register that it's being plugged in?
That'll help you get started. List anything else that might be noteworthy. Someone will help you.
Also, nightfire brings up a good point. Try flashing the stock kernel for your device via ODIN.
EDIT:
What procedure did you go through when you were following the (wrong) un-brick instructions? Because, if your device is totally unresponsive, you've probably got yourself a Galaxy Paper Weight. If it's not something as dire as that, there may still be hope.
Did you attempt to flash a 5.0 bootloader on a 4.0? A wrong kernel flash wouldn't screw up your device as badly as that. You may need to re-partition some things (/efs and PIT, perhaps) and re-flash stock ROM.
But, please, work with us here and be specific about exactly what you did that led up to the current.
Screen doesn't turn on at all and odin doesn't recognize it.
I used this method....."[10/13]Brick Station! Here to solve your brickable needs! BOOTLOADERS AVAILABLE!!!". I'm not even sure anymore why I felt I needed to use that method but before I followed those steps my SGP would only go into download mode and CWM. I flashed roms and kernels using odin and it said pass...reset. I even restored an old backup but no matter what I did it always rebooted back into CWM. I followed the brick station steps but not the un-resurrectable part because my problem wasn't that extreme but after following through with those steps I now have a device that requires the un-resurrectable method but now I know that it's only for the 5.0. When I connect my device to my laptop it makes a sound like there is some life but nothing pops up...turns on or flashes. I even used a usb jig to try and get it to download mode but nothing at all.
Thank you guys for the help.

Have you tried this ?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850. So what I gather is you can get to the download mode. If you can then you can fix it. The link I posted here is a good place to get everything you need. Use Hemidall method this was the only way to fix it. I had no luck with Odin. If your PC is not seeing your player go into device manager and remove everything under universal USB. after that click on the action menu and scan for new hardware. It will reinstall the usb stuff. reboot PC. Then get the samsung USB drivers install them. Next if you correctly installed hemidall it should work and see your deivice. Read the info ib this link carefully pick the right player. Down load the PIT file for your player. Then in hemidall install the partitions in the correct order as in the instruction. Let me know if this helps or if I can help you more

No progress with getting my SGP working. I don't think I'm explaining my problem correctly because people are telling me to follow the steps that got me to this point lol but all the help is appreciated.
If you press and hold POWER + VOLUME DOWN for about 10 ~ 15 seconds, do you see a screen with a yellow construction-like sign appear? If so, you are in download mode, and that is a good thing. Try it and let me know.
Nope nothing turns on at all. I dont think its a complete brick yet because i get a beep sound from the computer when i connect it but no signs of life on the device.

BUT, you will need to keep track of what you've tried, what it's done, and what it said. without all that info, we can't help.

I will give a hint. This rooting needs some good flashing experience beforehand.
Forget Rooting. Just try flashing various compatible KDZ roms on your phone for a day or two with offline fix method for at least do it 5/8 times. Once you are familiar with flashing the KDZ (rom), then rooting will be very easy after that.
