i have been reading posts for hours now before asking for help, everything i read has not helped, and i cannot find a solution, if there even is one. i know youre all sick of this same question. but any info or help is greatly appreciated.

tried using the auto boot unlock from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871 no luck
if this is a hard brick i'll cut my losses, but from what everyone has posted as long as you have the menu it is fixable.
please, i dont want insults, i did my research, i have read hundreds of pages, just cant find any definite answers.

First thing that popped into my mind.
But here you can see, that you clearly hard bricked your phone...
Stupid question but its worth checking; do you have the newest usb drivers installed on your computer? I had this same screen come up when unlocking my bootloader the other day but upon booting into fastboot like the program says it was fixed.
I am not sure if this thread will be of help, I quickly glanced through it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1165154

the version was 2.3.6 i did a quick search for atrix root and found this http://www.androidauthority.com/atrix-4g-android-2-3-6-firmware-4-5-141-root-63533/
followed the directions and tada, brick.... i knew i should have come to xda, but when i searched the forum there was just so much, one post sid to do this, the next one said that was wrong, then most of the links for downloading the rooting files were no longer working.
in short, i was being impatient, the phone has been acting really wierd, i got the phone from a friend, only had it for 2 days.
So you haven´t flashed any sbf via RSD yet? (NOT RECOMMENDED)
Please try the steps described in the link we gave you - if you manage to access rsd or fastboot again, you could save the device
Edit:
The device still has a locked bootloader?

Travis, not to sound rude, but did you read my first post? i have been reading and trying different things for over 5 hours now and nothing yet has worked. that is why i created a new topic.
i apologize if i posted this topic in the wrong place, there were other topics relating to similar things.
First, questions go in Q&A. Second, don't pay attention to Travis - not worth your time.
Third, you are probably SOL (hard bricked). Not much hope if the automated method didn't work. You can look here to see if anything helps. Good luck!
what i would personally do is download the full SBF pudding file that corresponds to your phone type, and flash it. not the unlocker file, the full .sbf that includes all the firmware and everything.
after that, do a fastboot OEM unlock command
if that doesn't solve your problem, then it's a hard brick.
are you on at&t

I was trying to load CM7 and now I'm tanked. My screen is stuck on the "Red M w/ Dual Core Technology" screen and at the top it says "FAILED TO BOOT 2" then "STARTING RSD MODE".
I pull the battery and put it back in but the same screen comes up and stays there.
Please, any/all advice would be greatly appreciated. I need this phone for work. (I know, I know. Why was I messing with my work phone. Please save that for later. I need this back running.)
Thanks.
Can you boot it into recovery or fastboot?
alright, there's a few things i need to know before we can get to helping you.
what type of Atrix do you have? (International, AT&T, Bell, etc. etc.)
is your device Unlocked? (did you apply the Pudding files and go through the whole 'fastboot oem unlock' process?)
do you have the most up to date Recovery installed? (either Romracer's recovery or CWM Recovery from Rom Manager)
answer those and get back to me asap please, don't want your battery to die before you have a chance to fix your device or you'll have to hack apart a USB cable.

alright, go here and download the AT&T pudding file.
IF YOU HAVE EVER DID THE OTA UPDATE TO GINGERBREAD THROUGH AT&T, OR YOUR DEVICE CAME WITH GINGERBREAD FROM AT&T, YOU CANNOT DOWNGRADE TO THE FROYO VERSION OR YOU WILL HARD BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
alright, now that we have that over with, grab the pudding file and flash it with RSD Lite. (boot into RSD mode on your phone, plug it into your computer, and flash away!)
after that, let me know how things go.

If he installed ba2tf it doesn't mention anything about bootloader in the OP.
I did install ba2tf.zip and tried to install it with CWM as instructed and that's what caused all this.

Put the phone into download mode, and then flash stock with Odin. If you can't get to download mode the usual way, then try this:
Pull the battery and leave it out. Hold down one or both of the volume buttons and plug in the USB cable. The phone should boot to download mode. The USB cable will provide the power.
I was noobish enough to do this too. And spend a good 2 getting my phone back. But I was just being dumb and wasn't paying attention

The following assumes that you want to return to a custom firmware such as the CM9 that you had.
Follow this guide using method 2C to flash stock plus root firmware. The directions are complete enough that you should be able to follow them.
Then continue with one of the options in section 3 to install a custom Gingerbread kernel with ClockworkMod Recovery. Then you can flash the firmware of your choice.
If you have any questions along the way, ask them here. I'll try to keep an eye on this thread this evening.
If you would rather return to stock and not root, use my other guide.
i now have it on the stock firmware but i tried flashing cm9 and there was an error: "E: failed to verify whole-file signature" and "E:signature verification failed"

@CNoe,
The reason you're getting answers that seem rude to you is because your question is so basic. This is the kind of stuff that you really need to know before flashing your phone. Even though I pointed you to a guide to follow it looks like you didn't fully read or comprehend it. If you had followed the guide you would not have gotten that error.

If nobody tells you that you're in the wrong and you aren't following the rules, how would you know? Its obvious that you didn't think the rules of the forum don't apply to you, but rest assured that if you are on this site you are expected to search and make an attempt to help yourself. If you wanted a help desk you should contact Samsung or at&t. XDA isn't a helpdesk for all your cell phone troubles. Think of it as more of a knowledge base, as all this info has already been typed up for you, is searchable, and available for you at all times.

I was trying to return to stock using Heimdall. It failed for some reason. Whenever I have tried to use it it always says it failed but this time it went further then usual but the end result was a fail. I think it just repartitioned but I'm not sure. Anyways the only thing it would do is boot into cwm and download mode. So I restored a backup a previously made. Same thing it only booted into download mode and cwm. So I went and tried to flash through odin. Everything worked fine and still the same thing. So then I followed the unbrick thread on XDA and flashed the file and everything finished and said successful but my device would not boot up at all. Doing a little more research it seems that the unbrick method was for 5.0 devices only which I don't know why it isn't placed in plain sight for everyone to see but anyways now I have a dead device. Has anyone had any success with fixing this problem?

Wrong attitude, man. XDA is a free service and you are soliciting unpaid help. Follow the forum rules.
Most, if not all, of our Galaxy Player forum developers and contributors pay attention to all threads and you will get an answer from someone who knows.
If not, look in the development forum and find a developer and send a PM.
Don't clutter the wrong forum with your pleas for help, acting like you're the only one with that problem.

All I want is a point in the right direction.
It might be a kernal issue. Try flashing a kernal for the 4 and see if that works.

Alright, let's all take a deep breath and chill. We empathize with you, dude, we really do.
We need to address another XDA rule that you overlooked. (Understandably. No biggie. Not calling you out, just saying.)
When you post on XDA, you need to be as thorough about your problem as possible, so we don't clutter the thread with Q&A.
1. Symptoms of the problem: What works and doesn't?
2. Any reactions to button presses? Lights? Screen? Sound?
3. Any evidence that it's booting?
4. Does your computer register that it's being plugged in?
That'll help you get started. List anything else that might be noteworthy. Someone will help you.
Also, nightfire brings up a good point. Try flashing the stock kernel for your device via ODIN.
EDIT:
What procedure did you go through when you were following the (wrong) un-brick instructions? Because, if your device is totally unresponsive, you've probably got yourself a Galaxy Paper Weight. If it's not something as dire as that, there may still be hope.
Did you attempt to flash a 5.0 bootloader on a 4.0? A wrong kernel flash wouldn't screw up your device as badly as that. You may need to re-partition some things (/efs and PIT, perhaps) and re-flash stock ROM.
But, please, work with us here and be specific about exactly what you did that led up to the current.
Screen doesn't turn on at all and odin doesn't recognize it.
I used this method....."[10/13]Brick Station! Here to solve your brickable needs! BOOTLOADERS AVAILABLE!!!". I'm not even sure anymore why I felt I needed to use that method but before I followed those steps my SGP would only go into download mode and CWM. I flashed roms and kernels using odin and it said pass...reset. I even restored an old backup but no matter what I did it always rebooted back into CWM. I followed the brick station steps but not the un-resurrectable part because my problem wasn't that extreme but after following through with those steps I now have a device that requires the un-resurrectable method but now I know that it's only for the 5.0. When I connect my device to my laptop it makes a sound like there is some life but nothing pops up...turns on or flashes. I even used a usb jig to try and get it to download mode but nothing at all.
Thank you guys for the help.

Have you tried this ?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850. So what I gather is you can get to the download mode. If you can then you can fix it. The link I posted here is a good place to get everything you need. Use Hemidall method this was the only way to fix it. I had no luck with Odin. If your PC is not seeing your player go into device manager and remove everything under universal USB. after that click on the action menu and scan for new hardware. It will reinstall the usb stuff. reboot PC. Then get the samsung USB drivers install them. Next if you correctly installed hemidall it should work and see your deivice. Read the info ib this link carefully pick the right player. Down load the PIT file for your player. Then in hemidall install the partitions in the correct order as in the instruction. Let me know if this helps or if I can help you more

No progress with getting my SGP working. I don't think I'm explaining my problem correctly because people are telling me to follow the steps that got me to this point lol but all the help is appreciated.
If you press and hold POWER + VOLUME DOWN for about 10 ~ 15 seconds, do you see a screen with a yellow construction-like sign appear? If so, you are in download mode, and that is a good thing. Try it and let me know.
Nope nothing turns on at all. I dont think its a complete brick yet because i get a beep sound from the computer when i connect it but no signs of life on the device.

Hello, i've been using these forums in particular the Samsung Galaxy S2 thread "
[Rom] AOKP(Jellybean 4.1.2) | Task650 & Ktoonsez (11/9)" for awhile now, probably going on a year. Just today i tried updating to the aforementioned update in that thread from 11/9, and while installing the ROM segment, i got an Error, and said installation aborted, tried once more, same thing, upon trying to reboot my phone it is now stuck in an endless reboot loop, which is why i believe it is bricked. I have found sites that tell me to get back to the stock rom, since i believe that is my only option now, but first and foremost id like to know how to manually get into recovery mode.
Other sites have said holding down Home Volume Up and Power simultaneously will do this, i've tried multiple times, hasn't worked, so unless there's something i'm missing there i'd love to know if there is some other way. Also if there is anything i can do besides simply going back to stock ROM which is a long and drawn out process Id love to know.
Thank you for ANY and all answers in advance.
First off, make sure you have the i777. I know you said you've been using Tasks' AOKP rom, but forgive us for not trusting you yet. Too many people are trying to flash roms that aren't built for their model.
Secondly, recovery mode is volume up AND down, while holding the power for the i777. Hold all three until you get into recovery.
Also, what sort of error did you get? If you can get into recovery your phone isn't bricked.

I've been flashing form this thread for nearly a year as i mentioned so i definitely have the right model, i'm not sure what type of error it was, all i know it it said something like E:/Error cancellation aborted.
Ok in the midst of posting this i finally got into recovery thank you, and i tried reinstalling again. it says "Installing Update...

Which i know is a common issue in the FAQ. but the only suggestion is to install some other ROM< which i cannot do b/c i cannot get the phone past boot screen, so i believe i'll be using a guide i found on cnet to go back to stock rom.

I have no problem doing that as long as their some guide on this site to go back to stock rom for me. This guide requires me to go to download mode, which i'm assuming is a different button combination than Recovery?
Id like to know that if thats known.

I'm thinking if i can get into download mode, i can follow the steps that the thread i've been following far give you for status 7 errors, and get my back up and running how it was.
Just need to know how lol.
First thing is IF you need to go back to stock find creepycrawly's return to stock thread. I would HIGHLY SUGGEST TO ONLY USE GUIDES FROM THIS FORUM.
Now onto your issue I personally would get a remove able sdcard, download the aokp zip again and double check the md5. My bet is you just got a bad download. Place the new aokp on the external sdcard, reboot back into recovery and choose to install from sdcard (NOT from internal sdcard since you cannot boot up). Then flash the new aokp.
Another thought is did you make a nandroid backup? You should be able to get into recovery and restore from internal sdcard if you made a nandroid. This will get you back to where you were originally. Then redownload the aokp and check that the md5 matches EXACTLY. Then flash the newer aokp. You are not bricked at this point. Follow up here after you try my suggestions and let us know how it went.

Covered thousands of times in this forum.
Volume up and down plus power gets to recovery
Volume up and down plus plug in USB gets you to download. These should be the first things anyone knows before Modding their phone.

I was referred to this thread nearly a year ago by a friend, and i've had no issues so far, so i kind of arrogantly didn't look too far into things like that, which now i'm obviously regretful of. I've gotten into Download mode, am i right in assuming that download mode only accesses stuff on the external SD< b/c i cannot access my internal drive when entering it, which would make my previous theory about being able to follow the standard Status 7 recovery tutorial if i could get into download mode, wrong.
Sadly to respond to the other poster, no again, with the same about not knowing how to get into download mode, i never made a nandroid, mainly because almost everything on my phone is disposable, i don't take pictures really at all, and all my numbers/contacts are synced up to GMAIL, i guess i never thought of a situation arising like this where that didn't matter, i simply wanted to use my phone lol.
Back to a previous comment you said that i now realize i answered too hastily, about if i have the I777, when my phone boots up it says I9100, but what's weird, and i said it before i was referred here by a good friend of mine who knows my phone, and is a much more experienced rooter than i am, so i guess i just took their word for it, and as i said i've flashed ROM's on this phone for nearly a year now, and it's been seamless, not a single problem up until this point, so im wondering if the i777 vs i9100 conflict caused anything.
[EDIT:] Disregard the following comments... I don't believe they will help.

I want to thank everyone on this thread for their patience, and their answers, i actually used a guide from another site because it had gotten really good feedback, the only problem is it does not have the I777 official firmware, but rather the i9100, for the international version of the phone so my back key does not work, i am currently looking for the correct version, on this thread, and across the internet if anyone can find the official firmware let me know, thanks in advance, and again thanks everyone who answered in the past, your patience and answers were greatly appreciated.

Forums have these things called stickies. Within these stickies are tidbits of information .. typically these tidbits are important enough to warrant the sticky status and as such should be read carefully. All the info you seek is contained within these stickies

Just get into recovery mode and do the three wipes to fix the bootloop. If it doesn't, DOWNLOAD and FLASH others rom from the original development thread and then install the latest aokp from task to prevent the error status 7. otherwise, please edit the build.prop

For one you could have easily found the sticky threads with the i777 stock firmware. Second now that you flashed a i9100 I HOPE it didn't contain the boot loaders for the i9100. But I guess you will find out at some point I'm sure.
Like I said EVERYTHING you need CAN and ONLY should be found HERE on xda developers. Anything else is a crap shoot. Maybe you will get lucky and maybe not.
now that you flashed the i9100 firmware you will have to actually READ FURTHER than you did before to see HOW to fix your button issue. It can be easy if you know what your doing or can be hard if you don't. Good luck. I'm out...

I simply did a factory reset, then install the i777 stock firmware, and i'm up and running, i'm gonna do this for awhile i intend on getting a new phone in the next couple months, at that point i'll go back to rooting. So nothing to worry about, thanks again for everyone's help.
The title says it all. Nothing good can come of flashing with Odin except returning to stock. Stick with CWM or TWRP flashable zip files. If you disregard this message you will end up with a locked device, or even worse, a hard bricked device. Please use Odin as a factory restore tool only. I'm concerned that after unlock using our methods that people will flash the wrong thing and cause problems in the future.
The unlock method we have provided is not a standard Bootloader Unlock. It is an IROM unlock. This means you can quite literally flash anything to your device without any sort of signature checks. It is important that you stay safe and try to stay away from Odin unless absolutely necessary.
Thanks for all the hard work

Yup! I can already see the threads starting.... It is good to know that we can still use Odin though cause I was under the impression that Odin was a no-go at this point... So flashing the factory image from imnuts would be the best resort to get back to stock if we needed to return a device?

In Androidstyle's guide thread, Adam asked him to point the unlock guide to his unlock thread, but I don't see an unlock thread from Adam, only the Revision3 thread which has no steps to unlock. I see the video Adam made, but my understanding is that the process has changed and the links to download Adam's ROM are dead on the Youtube page. Anyone have the link to Adam's unlock step by step guide?

It's in "Verizon Galaxy Note II Android Original Development". Go up one level and you'll see it. There are only two threads there so it shouldn't be too hard to find.
I don't mean to sound mean but if you really can't figure out how to get to his unlock thread do you really think it's a good idea to be unlocking your bootloader? Maybe you should just stick to a rooted image and read up and learn for awhile before jumping in over your head

To be fair, the distinction between "Android development" and "Original Android development" is new for many of us. I, too, was wondering how to get back to this thread since I tend to browse XDA through bookmarks instead of the site hierarchies. I didn't realize there was an "original Android development" section until after I double checked the name on the thread jumper. It's not that one is technologically illiterate (I got through all this in one fell swoop with no issues and have rooted and unlocked every phone I've owned since the G1), it's just that it's different. Last device I had didn't have a section for original development, so it wasn't immediately obvious to me (though I quickly understood what it was for). so cut him some slack and just kindly point him to the right direction. I know you said you weren't trying to sound mean, but if you really weren't trying to sound mean you could have just helped him out without all of the extra, unnecessary commentary. You know what they say about assumptions, after all.
Just got the Note 2 on verizon and loving it so much I'm going to hold off for a bit before unlocking & rooting. Normally on all my android phones that is done day 1... but this time w/ the dev community just now unlocking it, I think I'm going to wait a few weeks.
In context, imnuts has put out a Recovery flash-able version of CWM. If one tries his CWM but wants to go back to TWRP then currently it seems that one need to ODIN it. To Adam Outler's point it would be safer to have a Recovery flash-able version of TWRP. [?]

Yes because it does the same job as ODIN but on a different operating system.
