[q] ti omap question - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, here is basically a list of Questions i want to ask and let the TI Staff see.
Intro
============
I come from the LG Optimus Black Section and am here to seek justice for all Optimus Black users.
Questions
============
1. When will OMAP 3630 Be compatible with ICS?? If you give me answers like, its old and you may not have the time for it, reflect on yourself. Apple has supported 3GS on iOS6. So what about you?? Thats an example of supporting supposed-to-be legacy devices of this year. But 3GS will still hang on due to its iOS 6 Update.
2. All OMAP 3630 Device Owners are very angry, what are you gonna do to appease them?? At least tell us if you are gonna fix it or not and when will it be complete?(Estimate)
3. You have made us misunderstand LG and we have already made them reply so much about ICS. So are you forcing us to switch to a newer OMAP Device???
Those who share the same TI OMAP 3630 Device and want to seek ICS Release on your phone, Thank here.
I am very disappointed in you. TEXAS INTRUMENTS.

Where is the link to TI forums or smth ? What are u trying to accomplish ? The only thing u are seeming to do is to beg for thanks, gets kinda annoying already .

SoulExertz, have you got in touch with Texas Instruments directly, or do you think they monitor the internet for posts like yours?
I'm completely lost as to the point of this thread and very close to closing it as pointless.

I'm using a P970 myself, that's why i posted, the Black section is full of your pointless spam. At least you could email TI or post in their respective forums but ... nvm

First of all you need to decide whether you're angry at texas instruments or lg specifically.
Secondly you can get ics for that chipset, search xda and you will find custom ics roms for your lg for example..
Third, lg have a rubbish update schedule for ics and your phones not getting it. Nor are a lot of them, you won't change lg's decision by complaining on a non lg website as they just won't see it.
Fourth, snapping at a mod when he comments on your thread is not a clever thing to do.
And fifth, if you can't be bothered to include a link it is a bit lazy to shout that people should google for webpages that you yourself either could not find or could not be bothered to link to.
You should help others to help you by providing links to anything relevant to your thread that may help.
Your problem is the manufacturer of the phone not of its chipset. Contact them as your posts here won't have any effect. Or use a custom ics rom.

Q to cracked bootloader devs and cfw devs

Cracked bootloader:
How far did you get?
Who are working on it?
When will the cracked bootloader be aviable for us?
Custom firmware:
Is it able to get 2.2 on x10?
Who is working on a cfw?
On wich FW are you working?
When will it be aviable for us?
Sent from my rooted 026 x10i using XDA App
Search FFS.
Just sit and wait until the bootloader is cracked or they find a way around it. Nobody knows how far they are.

Didn't want to have a go at you but since I've seen people get slaughtered on these forums when they don't really deserve it I think its only fair.
This thread deserves slaughtering! "They" do know how far they are, but so do I - I know they still haven't cracked it.
So how can they give you a timeline? If they could then they would have cracked it. They aren't waiting for a progress bar to reach 100%, they are actually trying to hack into it. I don't even now anything about android development but I'm intelligent enough to realise it takes work, especially when its not paid for. Let them get on with it and don't pressure them with stupid questions making them look incompetent.
Please close this thread! It's a useless topic

Buddy your post is worthless they dont know the poster above u explained it to you.. they might think their close but they can also run into a problem that would get them stuck for a long time.. so noone knows wait and see like the rest of us.. thats why there is a thread like custom rom dev and excelent progress on cyanogen so you can read whats going on and what the progress is. Read the forum.
And i also think the mods should close this thread as it is a joke.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
For you to understand.. Lets say they are @ 99,99%, 1 small tiny thing can enormously slow down the proses or even make it (almost) impossible. No realistic person can put a timeline on these jobs.
A smart dev will never say it almost done before its really done.

And since they are all smart we don't know any timelines and they are working hard to ease our experience with this phone. Chill and wait till they inform you about the process.

The X10 community has some very talented developers working on the hack. I have no doubt 2.2 will be successfuly ported to our phone eventually.

Obviously some regular users on this forum don't get it. For a newbie, these forums are very, very difficult to extract exact information from.
There are so many different threads to look at.
Then once you find the thread, sometimes you still can't get an answer because the language spoken, is very much developer only.
A simple, no, they haven't cracked it yet, but they are still working very hard, would have been an easy, quick answer for all who was looking.

Why don't you guys just look at the developers thread and see how far away they are? You make your own assumptions but at least you will know what they are working on at the moment. Like last I checked was working on ram disks. But please no posts. Just look if your curious.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Right now, imho no one works on cracking the bootloader, but the managed to boot from a custom ramdisk, however its still far from a full working image (right now its more a proof of concept) usable for simple users.
That is my impression as well after reading the dev thread.
It seems they "gave up" on the bootloader, or are focusing on booting the stock kernel, and after that instead of running the stock init scripts and OS to load another OS. (but the kernel is the same)
please correct me if i'm wrong.
I'm in no hurry to get a custom OS, but i'd still appreciate if the guys who are working on it could let us know, what exactly they're doing (no timelines of course)

It could be good news; however, Qualcomm themselves updated adreno 2xx drivers for armv6 and armv7; so, it is good news in that it's open source and led by a smart developer at TI (was bound by nda on TI technology; so he had to develop the open driver on Qualcomm). Bear in mind, open source will (typically) always lag behind a manufacturer (because they know their hardware inside and out)... the benefit is that development grows at a faster pace (more eyes, more prize) but it doesn't always "know" what the manufacturer does.. it has to be discovered (which is often tedious work for developers) instead.

I was asking myself the same question; do the online petition act as some kind of "obligation" for the group that develop the codecs? Or is it only a way to raise attention on the topic?
Just curious.

Nope. Definitely not an obligation so the group can say "no" to our petition. However, the purpose of the petition is to raise the awareness level and hopefully the guys at OpenMax take notice of our simple plea

Any development thread or forum for developing LG Optimus Vu family?

Hello folks,
LG has announced earlier the Optimus vu P895 . I have searched google, xda but could not find any specific thread nor a development intention for such a great device/ high end device.
So, my question is: will there be any future development for this device ? And when?
This cant be said that it will or not. But forums/threads etc. are made of not high-end device but of devices which are used popularly.
Hope i helped .

I think that regardless of popularity, this device is just awesome. If I can get any help or support in rooting the device, I will be more than happy. It is true that the note 2 is a way better than LG, but the LG really deserves something to make it more customizable . Any way, I'm already using sgs2 with a lot of customizations. Thus, it won't really hurt me if there is no future for my Optimus VU.
I look to this in another way, xda is open to welcome any development and the moment LG Optimus vu gets its first custom ROM , device will start to become more popular. According to GSM Arena, it is popular by only 1.9% as it was just announced with the quad core tegra 3 processor.
We can share development with the LG 4X HD folks as our devices are very closely related.

Verizons gs4 will have the snapdragon 800 :)

The reason Verizon is delayed so much is there might be a 50% chancee the Verizon Version will have the brand new 800 snapdragon. that's why they are going to have that huge presentation in may to let people now about how Verizons gs4 will be a true beast compared to the others. So I'm Happy and since the 800 is new it will be very very limited that's why only Verizon will have it and no bootloader Samsung already said no.. just thought I should let u all know before you all make ur decision don't believe fine will see who's laughing after Verizon announces it in may after you all bought ur weaker gs4

Looking at your post history you're the same guy who asked if the GS4 can play Xbox 360 games because "the Xbox has 3 cores and the GS4 has 4". So yeah...

But, alas, there have only been 46 of them.
Here's a question. What problem is Samsung solving by releasing a different SoC for one carrier? S-600 won't be fast enough on VZW? The masses who buy VZW phones don't know or care what a Snapdragon is. The next big move you'll see Samsung make with the SGS4 at God knows what point in the future is to introduce an Octa/LTE variant that uses the new Qualcomm RF360 baseband with support for all 40 worldwide bands. That move would actually solve a problem. Sticking S-800 in a single variant of the SGS4 for one carrier and market creates problems in the need for seperate support procedures, inventory stocking, and repair parts.
Hmm, Thread closed
Seeing as there isn't any solid evidence to support your point, this thread seems a little futile... there really is no point in making a thread about something you're not sure will even happen?
So providing false/unsupported information can lead to A LOT of confusion. Lets stop that right away,
Thank you,
Kind Regards
Lady Android
