At me it DOESN'T happen when restart phone, ONLY somethimes when connect to pc...
Is there any way, app etc...to SAVE CURENT DESKTOP AND WIDGET SETTINGS (shortcuts)...?
AFAIK, one option is to move those apps to phone.

I dont know any other solution to this and i also have this problem too.
Maybe a custom launcher could help you.
Select the MTP USB mode instead of MSC mode.

I updated my x10 mini to 2.1 yesterday and now everytime i connect phone to PC
and click on Mount USB phone just restarts. Does anyone have the same issue?
although this is not a x10 mini thread, i experience the same problem (with my mini) after upgrade to 2.1. i wonder if it is not because you sync with "my phone explorer"... do you?
Android Commander
Use android commander to transfer files does not require putting into USB mount mode.
Or MyPhoneExplorer.
It used to do that back on the RF...014 firmware.
They seemed to like it so much, that they implemented it again!! lol!
*sent from my X10i
mine does it too. but it happens when i plug the usb cabel to the device so the software above won´t work..any solution?
When you connect phone to PC choose to "charge" after that choose "mount" no restarts
but it restarts just after i plug the cable into the device, i have no time to select one of these options
Have you tried connecting the phone with another computer, usb port or usb cable? If that doesn't work...
Have you tried connecting the cable without the sd card inside?
Try that, if it doesn't restart you know it's the sd card that's causing the problem. If you have an sd card reader (some laptops have them) put it in and copy your important files and format the sd card to fat32. You can also use the phone to format the card, but you will lose everything on the card.
Hope that helps.
thanks for your reply
but i had to flash my phone again and now i´m not having this problem anymore so far
Same thing happens to me too. Yesterday updated my X10 Mini Pro to 2.1, now the phone restarts, when mounted. I have tried on 2 computers (PC and laptop). Just now tried the suggestion to choose "Charge" and later "Mount" from status bar, seems to work
Actually, just now i remembered that this started happening not right after the update, but after i enabled Text-to-Speech or Speech-tp-Text or whatever it was. Will be trying to switch that off later.
for me the upgrade to 2.1 solved the problem...try to re-flash

I use exactly the same workaround on my X10 mini pro. This bug started after the android 2.1 upgrade. I never had it before...
It happens only when I mount the SD on Win7 and not on Ubuntu Linux: Could it be a driver issue?
EDIT: btw the issue disappeared after i uninstalled the live wallpaper

Hi! i accidentaly deleted some pictures of my trip, because they were isntant uploaded to google plus, and I didnt know that deleting in the application would delete the files also from telephone memory.
I have tried some recovery software, but the phone doesnt appear as a drive or memory card. I have done this before on a SD CArd, and it was easy, but it appeared as drive (F on my computer, the galaxy S II dont.
Any solution?

Hey friend,
i cant do that.
When i plug the usb cable, this screen shows up and i can't do anything (like press menu to usb mass storage mode), only can press home button to quit that screen.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
It is different from my g2, which i can put on usb mass storage mode, but i think its because it has the micro sd, while the galaxy S II dont, the files are in internal memory.
Unplug the cable, Menu > Settings > Applications > Development > Tick "Enable USB Debugging"
Plug the cable back in, pull down the notification tray and click on USB storage. Then you'll have it normal USB mode.

it worked! i was able to recover the files after this!
Unfortunately, i could not open the files recovered, the jpg are listed, but they dont open. I tried at least 3 softwares. Windows say the file format isnt supported... tried to sent the recovered files to the phone, but impossible to visualize too.. well.. at least i tried.
There is an app on the market that lets you recover deleted files.i don't remember the name though and it requires root
Edit: it's called "hexamob recovery pro"

I have this folder (with files from a download) that I have tried to delete from the phone storage (not the external SD Card).
No matter the method attempted, I keep getting:
"Cannot delete folder: The storage is write-protected.
Remove the write-protection and try again".
I've tried many ways on the phone itself (through Root Explorer...and I did make sure the RW is active), debugging has been tried on as well as off, etc...
Through the PC (Win7 SP1) as well (debugging on and off for this too). All drivers work for the phone, and no other problems. Can easily transfer files from the computer to the device.
I'm stock rooted with overclock kernel (but don't keep it overclocked).
I don't want/need this folder/files. Its not a system folder/file. I have moved it into my 'download' folder just to keep an eye on it. If I try to 'move it' to the external card, all it does is 'copy'.
Any and all helpful information would be greatly appreciated, as this is driving me nuts trying to delete this thing.

When I come across a suck folder like that I open the folder and delete each file one-by-one. Then delete the empty folder.
For persistent files I've had to change the file extention to delete it.
I copied all my files to PC and had to format my card. Then I re copied all the files to the card.
Nothing I did could save it.
Edit I read incorrectly. Its your internal card.

I have the same issue...the internal sd card is giving me a write protection error.
Any way to fix it without doing a full wipe?
Thank you!
Why not backup ur important sd card commponents to ur PC , then goto custom recovery do internal/external sd card full wipe and then restart ur phone ! it worked for me. the restore all ur backup files.

Acutally I just solved it with really easy way on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I was studying formus for 2 hours and not one answer or advice helped So I did this:
1. turned off USB debugging in developers menu
2. after connecting my phone to pc I switched the phone to behave as media device (MTP) and not as camera (PTP) (in notification bar there will be "connected as a media device/as a camera" option after connection to PC - click on it and swtich it)
3. now everything works like a charm and I can delete and write to the SD card without a problem

It does not work your idea
open the phone then remove battery, (without switching off the phone) after you removed battery remove sd card also, and wait for 10seconds and put in sd card again, put battery too and switch on your phone, after this u can delete everything u couldn't. Hope it works for you too.
When I switch to media device than when I click on "phone" or "card" when I click, it says, device has stopped working or been disconnected.
Help!
1. Flash A Recovery ( I recommend TWRP).
2. Then Go to Advance >> File Manager.
3. Browse the File/ Folder you wanna delete.
4. Open the folder and go to option's (the blue coloured box with a tickmark).
5. Select Delete, and Swipe To Confirm.
(This procedure is for TWRP. Procedure may be different, depending on your recovery)

When plugging my S3 with USB it only says its a portable mediaplayer and does not show whats on my SD-card, Please help!
the fact that it shows as a portable media player is normal: that's what it shows for me when it's either rooted or stock. you should be able to click on it and see 2 storage options your internal storage and the SD card.

do you have an SD card installed? maybe it's the drivers not working. try on another PC and see if it'll read.
Drivers Problem
This frequently happens to my computer so I know how you feel.
To solve this problem,
1. Go to devices and printers.
2. Click on your S3 device, it should be there.
3. Look at the bottom of the window
4. If it says that the device needs troubleshooting, right click the device and select troubleshoot.
5. Wait for troubleshooting to complete
6. Your SD Card and Phone memory should now pop up on your computer.
Unfortunately i have not been able to find a permanent workaround for this problem. So this solution has to be applied everytime you connect your phone to the pc.
Hit thanks if i helped you!
thanks guys! i got it working!
Did you use my solution to get it working?
I found when I use stock firmware that changing from connect to MTP to PTP and back again, my computer finds the phone, eventually but running an AOSP or Cyanogen the computer finds it without any problem
Xperia Sola/6.1.1.B.1.54/ICS/CWM v6
I have installed Touchwiz v4 MOD using cwm
When I installed touchwiz v4 using cwm,
1. My Settings>Xperia>Usb connectivity mode is disappeared.
2. There is no mount/unmount option in my storage settings.
3. When I connect my phone to pc, only internal storage is coming up. No external sd card.
My file manager is showing files of my external sd card.
But my Walkman is not detecting any music from external sd card. Same issue with Album, it is not detecting any image from external sd card.
Touchwiz is working absolutely fine, but my other options are gone. Plz help. I want to use this mod + I want my above mentioned things back. Plz help. :crying:
Try using sdmounter by @DooMLoRD. Connect your phone to pc and select "Mass Storage" from within the app. You may need to update your pc usb driver though.
