Usually you adjust volume to max and then decrease it.. try tht..
Crap, I remember reading this advice somewhere, but I remembered it being about another volume. That worked, thanks.

Hello.
I find the volume in the earpiece speaker that is built into the phone to be too low, even at max factory setting. I'm talking about the earpiece built into the phone, the part you hold against your ear.
Can someone please provide one of thos secret codes that will give access to somehow change the maximum volume to something higher.
Also, I would like the ability to increase screen brightness to higher settings, if you can please provide a secret code and instructions for that also.
Thank You Very much
I don't have any such codes and also find the volume too low during calls but God, man, why on earth would you need a brighter screen? This is by far the brightest and clearest screen I've ever seen on a phone. You're gonna fry your battery and your retinas both at the same time!.

LOL. Well such codes must exist. I was able to do this 5 yrs ago on a motorola razr. Surely this computer of a beast vibrant must have some setting for volume adjustment!

I actually have a blind family member. Your comment was distasteful.
Ya if you need it louder your hearing is probably going but.. if you look around in the service menu there are audio options. No guarantees that your speaker won't be blown or that you won't mess up the phone depending on the settings.. the speaker on this phone is much too loud for me, especially since it's really bassy and resonates into my ear. I can feel it damaging my hearing.
There's a hack for most other android devices such as nexus one whining increases the volume by a good margin, I don't think it has been ported over yet though l.

whining? OK seriously I came here for help, not for people to call me deaf blind or whining. I asked you guys for a method to increase the volume, if you don't know there is no justification for the barrage of uncalled for comments.

how can I access the service menus, besides blowing out the speaker what other type of phone damage can occur?
The nexus used a kernel hack/mod to increase the volume... I'm not sure we're there yet in terms of mods...hopefully it will come soon! Not that I need it but I can see the use for it.
Hope you can get what your looking for OP

I wouldn't know, you asked for the code to access the menu to increase volume and this looks like it.

I find the ear piece volume to be excellent on my device, I'd love to have the speakerphone volume up'd though. It's too thin, and when on the conf calls I need to be really close to my phone to hear what's going on on the other end of the air

Yes a link or correct app name would be great!
Volume+ is the correct app. Volume Control+ is a different app that provides a widget and interface for adjusting volume, but provides no tweaks for increasing volume.

on that page the creator says you can get the paid version for free from his website. I went there n got it. about to test it out now.
edit: after getting annoyed trying to compare by ear by going back n forth cutting it on or off, I wanted to make sure it wasn't a placebo effect. well decided to get free decibel meter from marketplace and put it on my Atrix to get some real readings to see if this really works. its official, it does work..lol. it showed consistent higher decibel readings with speaker mod cut on. I have my settings at good quality. volume +5 and bass +2. it sounds great. I thought it sounded loud before but with this its super loud n clear also. with bass increased +2 I can hear n kinda feel(in my hand..lol) it more. don't forget you can just go to the guys website n download the app paid version for free. thanks for the tip. afraid to mess with settings anymore as i don't wanna blow the speaker..lmao. still a test in progress though. if I hearanything funny, I will immediately shut it off..lol
For me i get the best sound (imo) using these settings on my prime.
Volume setting +6
bass enhance setting at max.

Nope. I'm not. Yet.
Does anyone think that the sound volume is too low? Ringing, speaker phone, etc. I feel like everything is lower than previous phones.

This is because of the increasing ring volume.....
You haven't said, but I assume you meant max volume right, as opposed to the above?
If you don't, there will sure enough me a hack ported from SGS2 to SGS3 to disable the increasing ring. Of course root well be required.

Yeah sorry I meant max volume. does anyone know if volume + works for the s3?

I actually think the phone is far too loud... and i dont like how the sound adjustment is in steps and not vairable. even on its LOWEST setting (before its completely off) if it goes off in a classroom or office enviroment everyone around me can hear it.. (the whole class)
I am running paranoid androidrom which I like. But the call volume on my end is really low. I have used alsa mixer and changed things. Fan someone tell me what to do. Or how to use alsa mixer

I havn't tried Volume+ on my note yet, but works great on my Asus Transformer Infinity which runs ICS. The notes say it doesn't work on anything but GB but it does. JB it does not work though. There is a free version that boosts you up a small amount like +8db and paid lets you go higher. Just don't go too high or you risk damaging speaker when other louder sounds come out. You can boost overall volume then turn other volumes down via the sliders.

I forgot to say that I've tried that too. But quote " The In-Call settings are different; they don’t allow you to boost the In-Call volume but instead give you much more control over the volume" says I can't change the volume at all. I thought this setting said that I can just control the number of times I can get to raise my volume level. Plus. For some reason it doesn't show in call settings. U have to go to the advanced tab for root? I applied this to 7 yesterday and it didn't do a thing for me

Yeah same issue right here.it really sucks
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Same here and it's the only thing that this rom (ICS version) is lacking.
The reason I asked earliee about the baseband is that on a former phone some modems had better call volume than others.
Who wants to be a guinnea pig and flash the other modems? There are two to try.
Saw a new of apps to increase the volume beyond stock, but haven't found any to lower it.
The lowest volume is on the loud side for me when trying to sleep. Appreciate any recommendation/thoughts

What about buying an external speaker with volume control to connect to it at night I personally use a Phillips one
Try changing volume mode to fine in settings.
