Help reg Atrix 4G! - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using an unlocked ATT atrix in India. I own it for the past 6 months. I am very happy with the smartness of the phone. I want any person who knows about the phone or owns to phone to help me answer the following questions
I am using Tata Docomo and sometimes when there is low network in a place what happens is that my phone initially shows only one or two bars and then suddenly my phone has full signal and the Docomo logo is now visible on the notification bar. ( earlier it used to show roaming as well , i guess that was because i switched off roaming data) . I keep data on 24/7. Why does this happen. I dont have any complains reg this issue its just that i want to know whether this is my phones cool feature or docomo's cool feature.
I keep my phone on max battery saver( phone's stock battery saver feature) so i guess it shuts down data while i am sleeping. But the problem is that when i get up the Edge symbol (E) vanishes and earlier i used to restart the phone to make it come back and booting takes a lot of time. but now i found out the easy way to make it come back. by going to the mobile network setting it automatically comes back. But the problem is that when dont use my phone for just an hour the Edge symbol stays but the double sided arrows goes off and i dont know how to make it come back instantly. it comes but it takes its own sweet time.
this problem is really irritating, when i go to places where there is poor network and my phones cool feature doesnt activate ( the first point) then what happens is that my Edge goes off ( i guess it goes to save battery due to poor reception) but when i come back to a place with good network the Edge fails to come back. HOW DO I MAKE IT COME BACK without me restarting my phone.
Do help

guys please help

Change the Battery Mode to PERFORMANCE MODE and Keep Background Data, Data Roaming and Data Enabled CHECKED.
In case E doesn't show arrows then no need to reboot the phone. You just Enable the Flight Mode first and then Disable it.
Hope it helps.

[Q] Network freezing

I have had 2 different vibrants now and they both have done the same thing. I haven't been able to isolate the problem to any one thing so I ask if there is anyone else experiencing the same problem. My network connection just freezes. I can't call or text and I have no data. If I try to make a call, it freezes on dialing and the only way to get it back is reboot. This is happening about twice a day and is really a pain. The only way I know it has happened is by trying to make a call and it freezes. I don't know how long it has been that way and when people try to call me, it goes straight to vmail. I put a new SIM card in thinking that was the problem, but it didn't help. I have searched everywhere trying to find a fix. TMO CSR was absolutely no help at all. Shocking.
BTW I am in an area with no 3G coverage. I am on EDGE all the time.

Since you have had the problem now with two different phones it could be a result of some app(s) you have installed, or related to your coverage. Did thr problem start after having each phone for some time?
I am working on ruling out an app. Weird thing is, I have had winmo for over 3 years in the same area with no probs. This is my first android. I am uninstalling an app at a time to figure out if it is one.
****Update****
So I uninstalled the ESPN Scorecenter app. I haven't had a freeze in over 24 hrs. Guess I am going to have to find another app to follow the games while I am at church.
are you sure u r in area that has only Edge? have u try to Lagfix the fone?
goodluck.
This just happened to my wife's Vibrant. This reminds me of when I had the T-mobile Shadow, where suddenly, it would not be able to send or receive data or calls BUT the phone itself shows no indications of any signal problems. It's as if the cellular software component has frozen and so the signal bars are frozen to whatever state they were and thus tricking you into thinking everything is fine until you try to make a call or someone calls you on a landline wondering if your cell phone is dead.
I suspect it's due moving into a poor or zero signal area and the phone tries to make a data connection. I really have no idea how to fix this other than to hope there is a firmware update to resolve this. The only fix is to reboot the phone (flipping the phone to flight mode gets one to a state where you can't turn flight mode off... which indicates a lost of control to the cellular component).
I am consider finding a way to reboot the phone nightly, which will help if this happens overnight, but I wish there was a way to detect this more immediately so it can reboot when needed. Perhaps an app that monitors the carrier signal strength and if the signal level is perfectly the same for a long duration, then a lock up of the cellular component is suspected.

After HSDPA drops HSDPA stays disconnected

Hey, so today I was riding the train back from work and its kind of insane on the signal part for the phone because it jumps through thousands of towers and internet is really crappy on my train line. Funny thing is I lost HSDPA signal and when I got off the train to an area I know I have reception in and got home it was still "stuck" with the upload arrow green, and refused to load pages. I turned it on and off (data connection) and it got back to normal. Shouldn't it do that automatically? is that a known bug or do I have a falty device? its brand new and this is the second time it has ever happened to me with it...
yes, it should go back automatically but since it was trying to hop so many towers it may have gotten confused and freezes. just reset it.
If it happens continuously then it maybe a issue but if happens the odd time I would not worry about.
Well it didn't happen until now and I've had the phone for over a week. Talked to a rep and she "refreshed" my connection and connected me to a different APN. I have also disabled "fast dormancy" (FD) which is an option that causes the phone to "pause" connections when nothing uses them which is only available on GS2 and some carriers don't support. My carrier doesn't. My thought is that this causes the device to keep its data connection dormant after trying to awake it. The upload arrow stays on implying that the phone is waiting for a response from the network which doesnt happen since it doesnt support FD which causes the connection to freeze. Reseting the connection fixes this. In any case, I've read in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132399 that the problem is solved by doing these two actions - changing APNs and disabling FD. If anyone else has an insight on this I'd love to hear it. I'll report here with tommorow's upcome.

Access the Internet while talking on the phone?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe on the new HTC EVO LTE from Sprint, you can now surf the web over data while talking on the phone. If this is correct, then I have a question because it currently doesn't work.
When I'm on the phone and open up the internet, it immediately turns my screen off. Then I have to hit the power button to turn the screen back on. But if I touch the screen anywhere, the screen turns back off. As a result, I can't end the call nor unlock the phone by pulling the ring up. Therefore I have to wait for the the person I'm talking to, to hang up the phone in order for the call to end and allow me back into my phone, otherwise I have to do a force shutdown in order to get back into my phone. Is anyone else experiencing this issues or have any suggestions? Thanks.
Something sounds wrong. You running a ROM of any kind?
Mines flawless, and I actually use it a ton more than I tought I would.

it only works if it supported by the towers you are on. so it wont work in all cities. you need to see what network you are working on like EVDO REV A or that new enhanced network
I'm on CDMA - EvDo rev. A network right now which may be the problem. (Let me know if that is the case.) At the moment I'm in Florida near Jacksonville which I don't believe have any of the new towers. In addition, I've experienced the same problem in Nashville TN. I can't firm what network I'm on in Nashville until I get back home on Friday.
And no, I'm not running any rom. I've only rooted my phone and unlocked it, but I haven't done anything with it beyond that. Everything is pretty much stock.

My HTC looses 4G Connection and switches to "E" or "G" and loose signal completely

My HTC looses 4G Connection and switches to "E" or "G" and loose signal completely
I am in need of some help, and the AT&T Support is utterly crap. I have a 2 GB (4G LTE) Data Plan but my phone seems to be messing up. Today (Because it is really really hot out, and the phone is in my pocket all the time, which makes it even hotter in my pocket)the phone reached it's milestone with me and got to 111 Degrees Fahrenheit. In an attempt to save the phone, I turned it off. Several minutes later, I turned it back on (Was at 96 Degrees now) and I noticed that I had no Data Connectivity. I had bars, but I didn't have the letters "4G LTE," or "4G." It was blank, but then it lost the bars completely. Then later on I had a "G" and "E" come up on the Status bar next to the Connectivity Bars (Which were full, I had all 5 bars). There are 2 pictures included here, one is with the "E" (Or EDGE connection of what I heard) and one is when the connection just drops a few minutes later.
Info:
Bootloader is Unlocked (via htcdev), installed with Custom Recovery (TWRP 2.8) and Root Access (SuperSU).
Android v4.4.2 with HTC Sense v5.5
(If you need more information please tell me below and I will do what I can to answer them, Photos were taken not too long ago, about 10 to 15 minutes ago from the Post of this Thread)

have you flashed any firmware's or radio's ?
try and fully charge the phone and toggle airplane mode and see if the data connection works. also the temperature you describe is not really that high.
And overheating would only damage the battery not chips/radio's inside the phone. Water is a different story

I was thinking about Flashing a custom firmware but I ended not, because I was a little worried that I would Brick my phone. The only things that I did flash was the Custom Recovery to TWRP Recovery (Made a mistake, it's TWRP v2.7.0.0) and got Root Access through SuperSU. The data does come back now, back to 4G LTE but whenever I try using the data or make a call it attempts to send out the Data but then shuts off seconds later the only thing that I can do, is Text and that's it. Will resetting everything (the Recovery, Un-Root, and Re-Lock the Bootloader (which wont do anything since I found it that it is Perm)) fix the problem?
Edit: Also thanks for the Info on Overheating. OH and also a very very VERY important detail that I think is serious, the Phone gets to 111 Degrees (It was at 114 Today, before shutting down for 4 Hours before finally being able to turn it back on) now whenever the Phone is trying to use the Data. I was trying to load Facebook, and the data was on at the time (4G LTE Connection) it was sending and receiving the Data, but it was going like 5 times slower than what 4G LTE is, it was like having 3G, and when the data was being used, the Phone got to 114 Degrees but when that data was off, the phone was a Rock sitting at 79 Degrees. I suppose this might have something to do with it? Also here is another picture, the Battery History for today. The 4G LTE Connection is staying Stable for now, but will go away if I attempt to use data or make a call. Messaging is available again though. The phone got to 114 at 3 PM and turned off later after that, so please tell me or someone else if this has anything to do with the case? Thanks.

where are you getting these temperature readings ?
4G LTE goes off during a call. Calls are made over 3g

Well, I am getting them from multiple sources, for one I am getting 1 by "All-In-One Toolbox," 2 since I have Root Access I can be able to analyze the system via Fastboot through my computer (3rd Party Applications, plus the applications that I created) 3 well of course there is an AT&T App designed to so and so "Optimize Battery Life" (Which it never does) shows the current Battery Readings of the phone. (For number 2 the custom Recovery I have allows me to turn on Auto Logging when the phone operates at a bad, and in this case "Hot," rate, which from there I can analyze what the system was doing at the time (Temp. Writing and Reading Logs, etc (However it does not log Radio Network or anything related))

When I used to call, the LTE would go away and 4G would stay, so I would have to be a bit cautious about that.
I am quite certain that it would be the Root that is doing this, I am not to sure though.

Hey! I did this today, and the phone was keeping the connection! Although, the Data was as if I was on a 3G Data Network, I am talking to AT&T about the case now(Not now now, but generally), but like I said their Customer Service is crap. The phone also stayed at a 99% Battery Charge all day long, and when I turned Airplane Mode off, I seen my 4G LTE just come up like nothing. I would suspect this as a "Temp" fix, because the connection does change to "G" and "E" (Also in the All-In-One toolbox, the regular 4G connection, the application said it was a "HSDPA" (Also sometimes it had a '+' next to the name too) connection. Was finally able to get a call out to my Voicemail today, but right after I ended the call I lost the 4G (And LTE in some cases) connection, no reception is what the phone was saying.
Edit: I am starting to think that the phone is too weak (or the signal is too weak, in this case the Radio in the phone is too weak or so, not enough power maybe?) to carry out a Stable connection to AT&T, or one of the Cell Towers. I suspect in me Flashing the SuperSU and TWRP Recovery could be the cause of it? (Also another thing that I forgot to mention again, is that I had sent in my HTC One to HTC to get repaired, as it bricked its self by turning background data off for 'Google Services' making HTC Sense not respond and then lead to the bricking. HTC Said a total of 5 Items (Including the Mainboard) were replaced in the repair. Maybe they did something wrong? But then again I can't send it back because I unlocked the Bootloader)

So this is a HTC Repair job... it's very likely your hardware is broken then.
use the SuperGuide to return to stock and get another phone from HTC/ATT

*sigh ok thanks but anything about the battery doing this?

So WTF about this phone ? I got finally plenty of issues...

This is my first LG phone and I really like it (the general feel, the interface, the camera, ...) but there are issues. I don't know if it's hardware (for most of them) or software so they will be solved but wow... It's the first time I got a phone is that much problems....
4G connection seems to not work sometimes, have to deactivate data and reactivate it to solve the problem
Mobile network just disconnect sometimes too, the phone search for network and get it back after seconds, switching between 4G and H+ (didn't have this issue with my last phone at the same place)
I got a DEAD PIXEL in the middle of the screen. Black zone, very small but annoying and I don't know if my device can be changed for only 1 dead pixel. First time I got a dead pixel on a mobile phone
Bluetooth is not reliable. Sound level change on my wireless speaker (notes goes higher sometimes)
So I must be very unlucky or ...
Okay, my phone is going to be changed with another same one, next monday. Hope it was just a bad episode with LG
Please, give us a feedback when you'll get the new one
Its common for g5. Lots of production issues. Just try and get it changed. It might be hit and miss.
Look like it's about the 4G network. The issue happend when it tries to send data but receive nothing. After a while, it just disconnect 4G (maybe because it see it don't get data back) and switch to H+ for seconds before switching back to 4G again.
When in this state, even SMS are not sending.
I hope my replaced phone will not have this issue. Fingers crossed.
