Amateur, Samsung Galaxy S2 help! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was following this: (it is a link)
reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/how-to-root-your-samsung-galaxy-s2-50004972/
I have completed step 4. But when it reboots it gets stuck on the reboot screen with the yellow triangle
HELP PLEASE?!
I was told that I need to find my original firmware, and use Odin to install it?
I don't even understand what that is
Can somebody please help me?!
Would be hugely appreciated!

Are you sure you have the GT-I9100 model of Galaxy SII? (check on the label under your battery)
That guide (and this forum) is only for that model.
If your model is NOT GT-I9100, then that is your problem.

Right, go to sammobile.com and sign up. Download a stock ROM for your phone (providing your phone is the GT-i9100). Download Odin and flash the stock ROM. If you don't know how to use Odin, search for Intratechs firmware thread, it tells you. Once flashed the new firmware, go ahead and use Chainfire's CF-Root to root your phone. Job done.

You'll need to flash back the stock kernel or a stock firmware. I've put below some links for the kernels and firmware.
I've uploaded stock kernels here. - Thanks Intratech.
These are the stock firmwares, just look for one for your region.

Back to stock galaxy s2

Hello how i can back to stock my galaxy s2? i rooted and put checkrom works nice but i want to learn how get back to stock again im confused
I didnt wrote down the pda version and kernel before install checkrom and rooted what recommend me to do?
thanks.
Just flash official firmware package from Intratech's XDA firmware thread via Odin.
Use your Product Code (sometimes found on your box) on the Chek Fus Download website to find your original PDA etc (if you're not 100% sure) or search the first couple thread posts for match.
Follow his flash instructions and you're done

you can get your stock firmware from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
It also includes instructions of using odin and flashing the downloaded firmware .... if you are rooted take a nandroid backup every time you flash custom from stock ........ that ways you'll always have a backup of the stock firmware ......
Yep, my post is rather incomplete, forgot to add the link cheers

So I just came across this and got to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 however, I am SO lost. I don't know what firmware I'm supposed to download. Yes I'm a noob, but seriously trying to figure all of this out so help is greatly appreciated. OH and I'm trying to get back to stock in attempts to get CF root to hopefully get cyanogenmod to install rather than abort the installation.

Actually all the firmwares provided in the thread are stock ..........
If you are a Noob i would not recommend cyanogenmod though it is pretty good but i've heard it's for advanced users and stuff ........ why do you need to flash stock is my primary question ........... use this thread only http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
You need to update latest firmware for your region as a KIES update is there / on the way?
Find out the latest firmware for your region to flash via http://fus.nanzen.se/ it will provide you with the stock firmware your phone should have after selecting the specific region.
You need to update latest firmware irrespective of region (like Me)
Just download the latest firmware available in the 2nd or 3rd section of the thread. in this case 2.3.6 (KK2 or KK5).
In case of any more issues post back.
so I tried kk2 and kk5 and kk2 gave me no service, and kk5 failed to even install. I'm at a loss. I really want CF root, but can't install it on the stock eg30 that I've been using as my stock rom. SO what next? Any other way to figure out which stock firmware from that link will work for my phone?
hello???
Is there anyone who can help me figure this out?????

[Q] BOOTLOOP after CF-ROOT

hey guys,
i connected my SII in download mode with my pc , started odin , select PDA the CF-root insecure.tar and pressed Start..
it completed with any error message and i thought that the phone would be restart.
But the phone is still in the boot loop..
i can't get into recovery mode, but into download..
What should i do ?
thx,
Maxomix
Do it the traditional way using the XWKDD insecure kernel and SuperOneClick if you have any problems. Link in my signature.
For now, flash back a stock rom using Odin and do the traditional rooting method for SGS2, it's guaranteed to work as I did it on random 5 devices I was given by friends. Works with any firmware, but slower than CF-Root, but gets the job done.

first, thank you so much that you have answered !
i have done it with the traditional way, but it completed and then it is hanging in bootloop, i haven't done the second step with super one click because the tutorial(And then there was root!) says me that i have to do this when the phone is completely restarted? .. Where can i download the stock rom ?
Download a stock rom from Intratech's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Choose one appropriate for your version.
I hope you have the GT-I9100, cuz if you flashed the wrong ROM, you're in big trouble.
You can also follow Intratech's method on rooting.

[Q] Tried to flash XWKDD_insecure and my phone won't work!

Hi All
I wanted to root my phone and flashed XWKDD_insecure to my phone using Odin. After that my phone restarted and now all I see is the Samsung Galaxy S II startup screen with a yellow triangle with a exclamation mark at the bottom.
My phone won't start now
My phone came with the following firmware:
PDA: I9100GJPKH8
CSC: I9100GOJPKG7
Can anyone please help me in restoring my phone?
I'll be really, really grateful.
Thanks,
juzer
I'm not sure of this but I9100G is different from I9100 so XWKDD won't work on i9100g
If i am right you must download a proper firmware for your phone and reflash through odin
Hi Red_Vex
I'm not able to find a proper firmware for my device.
More importantly, how do i get my phone to work...
It has stopped working

You must registrer on samMobile.com and search for Firmwares -> Smartphone ->Android-> GT I9100G-> Middle East and download a firmware for your nations.
Then go in download mode and flash it through odin
Thanks for your help, Red_Vex
Actually I was able to find an insecure kernel for i9100G on XDA and that has saved my life!!
Thanks once again!

[Q] i9100G soft bricked by installing font.. stuck @ boot logo

hello,
Sorry but not allowed to post in the i9100G sub section yet due to restriction. My friend did the following resulting in soft brick... :silly:
i9100G - indian variant
ics - 4.0.3
rooted with method 2 posted ----------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679778
it does not installs cwm manager like in cf-root method
downloaded app - rom toolbox pro - for backup
installed new font using the same app - rebooted as asked..
stuck on S2 logo
able to go into download and recovery mode - good sign :highfive:
I read somewhere that I need to flash stock rom using odin and then root again properly using cf-root menthod but since i dont know the correct firmware of his phone, dont know which one to use for flashing.. he dosent remembers it either..
dont know its xxlph or what....
so should i just flash new ics 4.0.4 firmware (any firmware) via odin and then follow the nube friendly cf root method ? is not knowing firmware version will have an impact even if i am installing a completely different new version ?
thanks for the time and consideration... much appreciated...
thanks
Any firmware is fine as long as its for the G variant. DO NOT install firmware meant for the i9100/P/M/T etc coz that will brick the device. The only way in which different firmwares for a device vary is by the modem. Which can always be changed at a later stage.
Bottomline, as long as its a G variant firmware, you can use it. Only preferable to stick to 4.0.3 rather than 4.0.4
Download the firmware from sammobile.com
Good luck

hey thanks... just wanted to make sure because its not really my phone and dont want to make a mess.. will flash away and report back with results

Thanks allot for your respond. No I am not able to go into the recovery unfortunately. only can go into download mood
What do you want help with? Flashing with Odin? First go to Sammobile.com and get 4.1.2 firmware from there. I'll give you a link for flashing with Odin if you can't find a good one.

This link is for the S3 but flashing with Odin is the same as with the s2. I link you to this as its a good guide but do remember that's it's for the S3 so don't be silly and flash i9300 firmware on you're i9100. Hope you understand if not tell me and i'll delete the link. Read it and understand what you need to do before you flash with Odin.
Reading is easy, fixing is not. :screwy:

I meant my phone is unlocked but on sammobile.com I found this
GT-I9100 United Kingdom (Vodafone) 2014 January 4.1.2 I9100XWMS2 I9100VODLSF kies
at the end was Kies icon
Pick a carrier free one.
But i can't see the option of choosing carrier

If you're planning on rooting and installing a custom ROM again you may as well just go with the Vodaphone one then go from there. I do have a copy of the unbranded one (can't remember where from) so it is out there if you really need it, only downloaded it last week.
I rooted using Philz kernel, if you search XDA for that you will find the info on how to do it and it seemed the easiest way to go...
