I was wondering if there is a way to disable the increasing ringtone when receiving a phone call without rooting your phone.
Go to the dialer Screen.
Press the menu button
Open Call Settings
Disable "Increase Ring in Pocket"
You're done

Now that I've upgraded to 2.1, I've noticed something weird. When the phone is on vibrate and I receive a text message it doesn't vibrate anymore, but when getting a call it vibrates. HUH?
I was gonna post this in the 2.1 after effect but I figured it would get lost in that huge thread.
Thanks.
There is a setting in the Messenger app called Notification Vibration, maybe that has to be turned on in order for it to vibrate for text messages even if the phone is set to vibrate?
Thank you JDDawn, that was it.
Where is this setting
Go to messaging press the menu key and go to settings go to notification settings then scroll down to vibrate and click always

Can anyone tell me how to get a notification of an incoming call or text message notification during a call with the Trigger ROM. I have searched the phone and the forums but still cannot find it.
Thanks in advance,
mbanken
Settings>call settings>all calls>alerts on call> check sound
Should work on Trigger too.
Trigger 3.0.1
Settings, call settings, then all the way at the bottom there's incall settings select from there.

Thanks!
That did the trick!
When I first got the phone yesterday all was behaving normally. (Ie. Vibrate when receiving call and not during SMS) I then proceeded to configure Widgetsoid and probably accidentally pressed the wrong button on the sound toggle button.
As you are aware there is clearly no option to select "Vibrate on/off" in the SMS settings menu, so I was wondering how one could remedy the problem without using Sound Profile to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
I recently got the latest CM9 Rim to work, but it won't vibrate for text messages.
Volume only makes it go down to mute
Putting silent mode into vibrate doesn't do anything.
GoSMS reports that sound is off and so is vibrate.
Is this a known bug? Is it fixable?

Check your default sms app's settings for notifications and make sure that vibrate is selected?
Sounds like a bug mate, I'm on jokers latest CM9 and vibrate works for me.

I had this issue as well, as w0lf215 states you need to set the option in the SMS app. Go into the messaging app and hit the menu button to bring up the settings and look in the lower half of that menu.
Much appreciated! I'm on an X2 and this solved my problem, my messaging app was frozen but it's settings were zomie-controlling the system. Thanks!
Is there any way to completely stop volume adjustments in settings like stock "turn off sound" accessibility settings, I find it useful in school, Im open to a root solution
Another option is to disable the volume adjust sound and have an override to mute volume again like some apps but I can't work out how to stop the beep on volume adjust?
Thanks in advance

You can try Volume Control+. When you add the widget choose 'Volume Control+ Silent Switch. One tap on the widget and my volume is silent and locked. You can also set the widget to toggle between normal, vibrate and silent. It's the best I've found and I've been thru most of them. Btw, I use the pro version..so not sure what settings are available in free version.

Click to collapse
