[Q] Project Epsilon v3 ROM - Motorola Droid RAZR

I have a question about Project Epsilon v3 ROM.
I'm currently on 676.226.3.XT910.Retail.en.EU ICS leak.
I'm going to install this rom via Bootmenu.
And here is my question. Do I have to wipe data or only cache and dalvik? Or maybe I don't have to wipe data but it is better to do so?
Thanks in advance!

Better do it I personally always do that, or just follow the ROM guidelines, now is easier to get all the apps with titanium and other apps.
Also to update from v3 to v4 I recommend full wipes to because I had some problems with wallpapers and widgets.

Thanks! I did the wipe, however I have few new question.
First. Is it really worth to upgrade to v4? I heard that there are some problem with it and some people said that it's better to stick to V3.
Second. I did battery calibration like in ROM guide once (Did it today that's why), however I'm still having terrible battery life with display taking 80% of power. Any solution for that?

I'd stay in V3. What do you call terrible battery life? There are some threads that approach battery "readings". The info portrayed by widgets and some apps could be misleading IMHO. That 80% is how much battery the screen has used but not out of the total battery. I have gotten almost two days on a single charge, and screen consumption is never less than 70%. That is regardless of the time i check the battery information. It seems battery will constantly be in that 70, 80% area.

And it always takes 1-2 days or more for the battery to "settle" when you change ROM.

Try using CPU Sleeper in Play. It switches off 1 of the cores on a dual/quad core phone, everytime your screen is turned off. It works better than the Sleep option when you press the On/Off button on the phone, this Sleep option doesn't ring when someone tries calling you. With CPU Sleeper - on my tests it lost 5% battery life in 12 hours.

Wow if that is the case I'm going to give that a shot!!

I have one more question.
I use blur camera but i miss this cool sound when taking photo that was on GB and ICS Leak. But in project epsilon there is only some kind of beeb. Is it possible to bring back photo making sound? xP! That would be coool!

[Q] Please help with my battery issue

I really need help understanding what is draining my battery, sometimes even while it is charging.
I'm rooted, and on Simply Honey 5.1
I've set up my Facebook to sync once a day, Titanium Backup to backup 2ce a week, and usually, while I am sleeping, all my wifi/bt/gps etc are off.
Recently, i've noticed that while my battery is charging at night, i wake up with a low charge (50 - 70% range), and that basically my battery has been draining at the same time.
I installed Watchdog lite, and have had System Panel monitoring my system.
Here are some screen shots.
System Panel - Plot - 8 hours - battery drain even while charging. CPU is being used a lot, even though the device has not been touched.

System Panel - Top Apps - 8 hours. System, system process, calendar storage seem to be using a lot of CPU
Watchdog Lite - Android Process Home Screen - what is that? and Facebook doing it's daily sync, I assume.
Can anyone explain to me what System, and System processes do? Also, what is Android Core (Home Screen), and why would that run, if the device is asleep?
Any answers would be much appreciated!
Thank you!
I ran into the same problem, what I did I went ahead and got juice defender from market. It allowed me to turn off all radios at night. This allowed the phone to remain charged the whole night. Also while charging I activate the clock app and dimmed the screen at night while charging this also helped the phone to charge 100%.

I have juice defender already, but i don't turn off all my radios at night, because i do want phone calls to come though if they have to. wifi/bluetooth and gps are all turned off though.
I'm really wondering what Android Core (Home Screen) and System/System Processes are, and why they are eating so much battery.
Thanks for your help, fear676
have you tried clearing your cache and fixing permissions? since juice defender doesnt work, you can try to uninstall facebook and see if that changes anything. i know that i had a problem with both facebooks on my vibrant and i set the integrated account to sync once a day and the app to never sync.
i also had a problem on my SGS4G where my android core killed my battery in 2 hours randomly. i ended up having to reformat everything on the phone and reflashing the rom.

How many hours does your SGS II 1650 mAmb Battery lasts?

here we can post how our battaries lasts and which programs or setting lead to accelerate battery drain.
for me,
1.working hours:
*maximum working hours were 35 hrs
2.usage rate:
*moderate usage; 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth (up to more than 4 hrs continually by playing songs by PowerAmp when connected with my car's headunit)
3.optimum setting (my personal opinion):
* 1-make sure your accounts & sync: -background data & auto sync- unchecked.
2-motion setting: uncheck it.
3-location & security: uncheck my location setting.
4-latitude: logout from your google latitude account or choose not to let google collect your locations.
5-data network mode: don't forget to de-activate it every time you dont need it by hold press on power button and select either to activate it or deactivate.
I'm using this setting always and get satisfaction for SGS2 battery performance which was before lasts for only 12 hours
And don't forget that GB 2.3.5 has the favor for maximize battery performance.
seems like someone is trying to reach that important number of 10
Ricey
It depends how much i use it?!?!?!
Not another one! Please close.

Mine lasts one billion hours. I swear.
Battery life also largely depends on what rom and kernel you're using... so this is kind of pointless really.

Agreed,
+ modem = signal strength,
+ data mode, wifi or 3G/Edge, airplane mode,
+ Brightness levels,
+ Syncing,
+ personal usage patterns,
+ other factors......
It's irrelevant to compare battery life.
Three days before today it lasted for five days from 100% to 30% charge .
Today a 100% charge has lasted only four hours .
Tomorrow it should last much longer as it will be switched off .
So yes pointless OP and has not this same topic been posted before .
If you want to check kernels their is a poster in most of the kernel threads that has done some testing of kernels and battery on his phone not your phone .
jje
by using siyah kernal v 2.6.9
today is the fourth day !!

Usually it would go in a straight line ow it just dips
It went from straight 100%- 58%
Is it normal or am i overreacting ??! As the screen was barely on all the time
Also i only use Edge not 3g and And edge is only activated by me when screen is on , otherwise its off
Apps which used battery
Partial Wavelocks
The AudioOut one is 12%

Can anyone help ?

Something seems to keep the phone in awake state, won't let it sleep.
i use the same ROM with the provided (ICS beta) kernel, including all the hotfixes, just without the on-screen buttons. and i have no issue with battery dips/drains whatsoever
Never understood why you guys use these on screen buttons :/ like the phone didn't have buttons.. lol
Only makes the screen smaller and uglier
I Shall reflash again
And im getting rid of onscreen buttons i guess
It Kinda does get on my nerves ~_~
Still need to figure out whats causing it to be awake :/

No point in wiping bat stat file. It's deleted/rewritten every time you disconnect charger from phone.
We use them hardware keys because we can simple

Phone now enters deep slope
And i uninstalled some useless apps
Maybe that was the problem\

[Q] Please help with battery issue

I'm running ICS Passion with Kiss kernel 2.2 right now. My battery has always been iffy however, so i don't think it's the ROM.
I'd appreciate any help though:
This was last night. battery was fully charged at around 3 am.
I killed all apps.
by 11 am with very little use, it was down to 10%

When i look at the Top Apps, nothing looks like it's using too much CPU, so i'm not sure what's going on. Can anyone explain?
Why would i lose so much battery, when it looks like the phone was sleeping?
What am i missing here?
Thank you!
Have u tried a app call CPUSPY?
Its in the play store (android market)
That app let's u see if your phones really in deep sleep...
Hi krackerjac,
Thanks for the advice. I installed CPU Spy this morning....
1000 MHz 7% 0.35.45
200MHz 89% 6.51.47
no deep sleep, even though i didn't use the phone mch all day.
System Panel shows a 100% drop in 8 hours.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance!
It should be on deep sleep most of the time. What background apps are you running?

That's what I can't figure out. I think google sync is always on, From the Top Apps screen of System Panel, it seems that system and system processes are the highest consumers, but I'm not sure how else to tell?
Download Watchdog and see what apps are using your CPU. Also, turn off auto sync, as they might be keeping the phone awake by constantly trying to fetch new emails, contacts, etc.

I have Watchdog. it says Android System 5.4%, System UI 1.6%, Google Services Framework 1.0%. Everything else is below 1%
With auto-sync, is there a way to control this automatically. For example, i don't need autosync to operate between 1 and 7am, but want it to turn on again at 7am, and need it on the whole day so i can get my emails.

I don't think so, you can change the frequency of the fetching(updating) however. Or put the power control widget on your home screen and turn it on when you need to, and off when you don't.

Ugh, must've been a part of TouchWiz or LG's skin, because I cant find it off of the stock app.

Try the Icy Glitch Kernel and see if that helps with battery life.
Also, try the AOKP rom, its more or less the same thing as Passion, but works a lot better than Passion did, at least for me.
Ended up downloading an app called Better Battery Stats. Found that my GPS location provider was running down the battery. This was because the Beautiful Widgets was set to geolocation, and so gps was pretty much running all the time.
Much better battery life now.
Thanks for all your help!

Is this normal standby drain for my S10 lite?

Spoiler
https://imgur.com/a/ZfRFLar
It's around 1.7%/h for my Snapdragon S10 lite. Is this normal?
It's normal if some media is running in background, for example. My phone has an average of 0,8%/hour according to AccuBattery.
turn off Bixby and google
turn off adaptive brightness
Seems a little high but I'm on a 10+ with 4300ma battery. Adjust accordingly to your battery capacity.
Nominal AOD battery usage should be about 1% an hour. You can enable tap on for AOD to help determine the source of the drain; usage should be very low like that.
Goggle Backup Transport and Backup Transport Framework were causing excessive battery drain for me both with SOT and off.
Update: left my phone at 99% and woke up to 80%
Here is the usage: GSAM
Look at the 5h of Significant Motion Detector usage of Google Play Services and how the Netflix app is using so much battery (I never opened that app since buying the phone...)
I then proceeded to install Better battery stats and found after some hours of usage a huge Spotify battery drain related to the Linear acceleration sensor.
I am getting kind of tired. Since I started using android (Nokia X2, Lenovo K6 power, Redmi note 7 then S10 lite), I have had some kind of a battery drain on all of those devices. Getting tired of troubleshooting problems rather than use the damn phone.
Ditch spotify or lock it down.
You probably have more crapware...
You need to learn how to optimize these phones.
Play with it.
Hey guys its me again.
I disabled Spotify and still have 20% drain overnight...
What can I do please?
it's great

Install Galaxy Labs>Battery Tracker from the Galaxy store and see what apks it shows is running at night.
Wipe cache in recovery. View what app use your battery. If this don't help make HR (hard reset and wipe all data , ) if this don't help use guarantee ...
I manually updated to One UI 3.0.
No more battery drain as far as I can tell. I will update with overnight drain.
