Hi guys with your great device Sony Xperia Series
please I want to know something about Xperia S
I will buy new device soon(I'm currently using huawei X6)but I have 3 Choice which made me confuse
1.Xperia S
2.Galaxy Nexus
3.Sensation XE
I know most powerful device is Xperia S than 2 other device I mention,,
but I looked into development thread and I just found some Custom ROM for Xperia S,not much
Please I want to know why Great Android Xperia S just have some Custom ROM,not much(most of I look is AOKP and Paranoid Android)
Tell me guys if you know
comparison this device with Arc S performance is so far away, but Arc S have Custom ROM more than Xperia S
Thanks much
We'll have AOKP soon(ish), not sure about Paranoid as most developers seem to hate it.
If I may know,,why AOKP Build so late?is still have problem with source or something?
Sent from my Spice Mi-410 using Tapatalk 2
because sony released the source for a short time ago (for ics)
developers are working hard on it, so i think a few weeks and development is going much faster!
Galaxy Nexus is what I recommend if you are interested in custom ROMS. Im very tempted to give up on Sony I almost give up on Sony Ericsson when they had poor upgrading with the Xperia Play but the community brought my back to the tables. But then i upgraded to the Xperia S and Xperia U but it just feels like ive downgraded because i love custom ROMS
If you love default android then get a Nexus. You are giving up speed, screen, and build quality but you gain the dev community that you crave. I personally had bought a Nexus but I returned it for my Xperia S. I am satisfied because there are enough roms to make me happy. You really don't need 10 roms that are essentially the same. Once we get a good release of cm9 and cm10 we should see more support. Also I love the default Sony apps.

Mostly because I'm a lazy ****. Team FreeXperia are working on CM9 and there is no reason to duplicate their work. Since they don't have the source publicly available, all I can do is wait.
thanks all to replying my question
I think so,,galaxy nexus have a lot custom ROM and mod
disadvantages nexus is very annoying me when Xperia S have all specs and features I need
but,,turn back,,Nexus is original Google build, thats make me consider twice
well,,now I can make wisely device choice for me
thanks for a lot all

Soon Xperia S will get more ROMS because it is selling very good
And...how much ROMS need a human?
For me they are 4: STOCK MODIFIED ROM(KASPEED),CM10,Miui,AOKP
If you will buy a nexus what rom you will use?its the same we just need 4 roms....(3 in situation of nexus )

Yes mate,,in case,I will try out xperia S,,specs and features so promising than nexus
Honestly,,I interest nexus from screen design without softkey button. But comparing performance and other features with Xperia S made me reconsider,,
About ROM,,I very Interesting on ParanoidAndroid(I'm currently use this ROM on my device )
But there are person who tell me the Xperia devs hate ParanoidAndroid ROM

It's not Xperia devs, it's devs in general. Paranoid does stuff that it isn't supposed to do to the framework, so it is a very, very dirty hack, and most devs don't like dirty hacks.

Does anybody knows if there are plans to port MIUI on Xperia S?
I even don't know what's the official way to promote a multiple request to Xiaomi.
Shoud be nice to have the amazing MIUI operating system on our same amazing LT26i!! Don't you think?
Kind regards.
First we need CM rom as a base then I will try to port MIUI
I didn't know that MIUI still needs CM. I tought that was necessary just in the MIUI early development...
In any case thanks for the kind reply, and let's hope to have a stabile CM on LT26 soon
miui
really looking forward to miui. When it has come ROM
I think porting MIUI V4 is really easy if you have got a stable CM9,so it won't take long.
But I think MIUI would be not as nice on the Xperia S,since most themes are for HDPI Screens, not for XHDPI,so it might not look as good.
someone will develop one after a stable cyanogenmod 9,just wait
i see MIUI rom on my friend SGS2. i admit it, im reaaly jeaolus.
MIUI sleek UI will be a perfect match with xperia s design. MIUI please come to xperia s

I have installed Miui on a Nexus s that i have, but i must tell you that the battery life is not so great. If it will be a Miui version for the Xperia S it will be like a vampire for this smartphone because Xperia S is not so famous about his battery life anyway so imagine if you put Miui on it ... Nice interface but horrible battery life.
will someone help to port it. i'm really can't wait >.<

I cant wait for this. I've been using MIUI on my ArcS and now that I have an Xperia S, my android experience seems lacking without MIUI.
First we need a stable CyanogenMod rom

Any official way to suggest Xperia S to MIUI developers?
Do you know an official way to post our interestingness to MIUI developers?
It's obvious that more we are, more they take us in consideration.
So let's take this thread up, guys ;-)
ps: I still use MIUI on my Defy, and it is faster than most recent phones.
ps2 for who wrote about battery: The battery life is never absorbed by an OS! Is always absorbed by a bad configuration!!

To port MIUI, even MIUI devs need a working AOSP device tree. This is unlikely to happen before official ICS is released.

Can't we just port a Gingerbread version of MIUI to the XS? Does it have to be the v4 version?

as the ics update for our fone is out will we be having costum roms for our fone ....... also i would also like to do a bug report about theupdate .... the notification sound doesnt work ........ plzz give me a fix asap ......
Ehm. The update for our lovely Xperia P is not a custom one made by XDA-Developers but by Sony. And if I know Sony right they don't care about XDA-Developers.com So I don't think that they see your bug repport. And second. Our developers has a life like you and me. Some maybe has kids so they aren't sitting all day long on the computer What about YOU fixed the issue instead and released it

I have the same thinking about a lack of developers in Xperia P Forum since its very good terminal and we dont have a thing in rom options.
Hope it wont be of course, because of not sucess model.
I had a Galaxy Ace (lower spec phone), and since come up years ago it has a rom every day. Really desire xperia devs could give a try on this terminal!
Cheers!

I'd prefer a fully working CM and AOKP. And MIUI over a zillion similar custom roms. Samsung phones get a lot of custom roms because their stock FW is pathetic

same here bro had an ace ...... its got jellybean rom also now .... waiting badly for a rom for our device
I Think there is Some Few Dev. at Xperia P.
I have been checking the Xperia sola as a new phone. Sadly there is NO development for this device. Some pre rooted roms are nothing. I would love cm on this device. After that I could port miui myself, as I have done for the wfs. And still gingerbread, wtf?
Such a great phone and then this scene, bummer.

Seance Xperia P has ICS and is rooted without unlocking bootloader, not need for custom rom! Phone is fast enought with stock rom! If you need customization, use launchers!
hey work jelly bean for xperia p?
Hi everybody,
At the 3rd of September, Sony releases the binaries for xperia s to support JBQ's Xperia S experiment.
So I was really happy about that, coz I thought that jelly bean is near.
I thought that now, that when they have the binaries and drivers, the only thing to do for Google is to implement these drivers into android source code, because vanilla Android doesn't need so much configuration, etc.
So my question how long you think it takes that we have vanilla on our xperia s?

I hope very soon, i think FXP has done a good work yet on porting the cyanogen 10 to our device, so maybe they can start from this point to develop it... but i don't have seen a lot of rom and kernel for our phone like others Xperia serie's phones... maybe it's due only to the youthness of NXT line..

I don't know when the official release will be, but CM 10 will release its new M1 versions. In the moment we have a stable alpha-version and that's a big step too. But my opinion is that Sony is just inconfident about the official JB -.-

It is just an experiment to see how hard is to implement another device on the AOSP project. Not that updates will come from Google.

I hope is not just an experiment because have JB in ours Xperia S will be very performant, in my opinion. Sony is usually close to developers.
It may be also a test: rumors talks about a Sony nexus.. it will be a big step..:victory:
Actually, AOSP development seems very slow, at least from what I've been seeing on the git. Don't expect the sony bins to speed that project up
That's what I'm scared about because when android 5.0 comes soon how long would that take to reach the xperia s (nexus) becomes the update..

Or if you like me, Razr Maxx is not such a bad deal either
About Nexus Phone, i understand that there are peoples who likes pure Android experience. But it is truly for enthusiasts who are willing to add any feature by himself. For casual user though, if you already have satisfying experience with some maker's interface/functionality (Small Apps or Smart Action), the Nexus is lacking though.. But that's just my opinion..

Yeah agree, but I need a phone under 250 Euros. And by the way I'm an extreme fan of pure Android/ pure AOSP roms, but I love Sony phones and every stuff. I've got sony PlayStations, TV, media player, Radio, Hifi etc. . I would choose Galaxy nexus if it would be cheaper than 250 EUR. Any recommendations under 250.-EUR?
I've also been looking for a replacement for my Ray and I've found some interesting chinese devices ( not copies ) that look extremely good and with great prices...only bad thing is that their development section is almost inexistent...

Sadly I can't keep it, it's a pain that I could never try Android 4.2, and lots of roms for Ray which I should give a try. I'm happy and I bought my Sola, waiting for amazon 2 ship it, but sadly realized that Sola has almost no development. Only rethemed roms by noobs, a miui port, and the FXP cm9 which is buggy as hell and lots of things not working. But I think Sola is great enough to use without custom roms. Sony promised JB so I ain't got no worries.
Is there anyone here working on MIUI need this rom so eagerly got addicted to MIUI since the time I've used it on my Note 2. Now I'm on Xperia Z ultra and I want to run MIUI in my z ultra so please someone help me out by any chances of porting.

I have had a look at porting MIUI to the Ultra but I cant find a suitable base so far. I'll see if I can find a stable build of cm 10.1 but I wouldn't hold my breath - it needs a 4.2 base and the ones I've tried have thrown hundreds of patching errors...
With the lack of development for this device I would say no.

There's no point in developing a ROM that one or two people will use. Why spend any energy on it? It's fine if the dev ports it for himself and then decides to release it, but don't expect any MIUI release soon.

If u really miss Miui Interface like me, there is Official Launcher in Playstore called " Mi Launcher". It's really stable and working so smooth for me

Are they still using 4.2 as base? I was under the impression that V5 should be at least 4.3 and you could use CM10 Togari proprietary files to build.
