I ended up Factory reseting, Installing the root again, Finding all my apps again after making a list of the software versions and all, Then Blocking OTA. Worked like a charm but im still at 1.43

[Q] GB OTA upgrade after Gingerbreak/Gladenable

Ok... I've searched and not found any threads on this, so if it's been asked already, point me in the right direction...
I rooted and did the sideloading hack. Does anyone know if this is going to prevent the OTA of GB when it finally comes out?
TIA.

As with any update, no one knows for sure since it hasn't happened yet and things could change... but I believe you should be fine if that's all you did. If you froze or deleted any system apps or bloatware you'd have to unfreeze/restore them.
Nope, just rooted and enabled side-loading... after the fiasco with my Backflip, I wasn't going to push my luck again. LOL
I would still flash back to stock before updating. Much cleaner.

[Q] waiting for 1.4.1

So my nt came with 1.4.0 and I can sideload apps no problem. I have been waiting for it to update to 1.4.1 before even bothering to root but it has not updated. I'm not complaing just curious what triggers the update. I have never used the B&N store...could that have something to do with it?
Not using the B&N store doesn't really matter, unless you mean you skipped the registration process. Because as long as you're registered- you're getting the update. It's totally random as to when. For some it takes an hour, for some it takes a week. But if you're registered and you haven't taken steps to block OTAs, you're gonna get the update eventually.
But my question is- why wait until 1.4.1 to root? It's more easily done on 1.4.0. My advice is to shut off wireless, root at 1.4.1 and block OTAs. Because if you get 1.4.1, you're likely just going to have to go back to 1.4.0 to root. Maybe that's not the case anymore, maybe I missed some new development. But last time I checked, rooting on 1.4.0. is the way to go.

This. B&N has been touting "new features and upgrades" in 1.4.1; yet, when asked for the release notes, or what specifically was added/changed, they clam up -- fast. Just root and block OTA on 1.4.0, it's easier and since that is what most people have done it allows for easier troubleshooting.
Why wait? If you've got my luck, you'll root and still get 1.4.1. And my Tap Aquarium was doing so well

Please dont get him confused, if you received the update is because eather you did not apply OTA block well or your thought it did by itself if you used Indirect's root method, it also depends of the version of the mod that you used. Anyways @atomicpookavirus welcome to the forum and take our advise don't wait until the update, right now its 4:45 am in here can't explain all the reasons but trust me you don't want the update. Now before root while still on 1.4.0 erase/deregister your device to start clean, please read my FAQ tips &tricks for more information about how to erase/deregister then choose a root method and watch the videos provided.

Is your bootloader unlocked? If it is, you'd have to relock the bootloader and flash the stock recovery image.

try downloading Voodoo OTA Root Keeper then redo the process of updating. This might help, as it did with many rooted users.
My bootloader is not unlocked, and I have rootkeeper. I still get the dead android, even after a full system wipe.
Did you guys install the new google play market 3.1.5? If so try uninstalling the mareket update and then install the Prime update.
Updated perfectly fine for me from .15 -> .21
Used OTA Rootkeeper to keep my root
Only thing i've done is root, everything else is stock
C10 Serial if that helps
i thought the update isn't till tomorrow? ;o

edit:
never mind there is an update now...
IT seems like the Update isn't available for German devices, maybe others are also affected

Per your previous post. How do I re-lock booloader? I have a rooted prime, unlocked bootloader, and running a custom ROM. I have HDMI out problem which have recently materialized, can you post a link for a how to in this thread? Also, do you know if you relock bootloader, remove root, and install the orginal OTA update, can ASUS tell I had an unlocked bootloader with root if I RMA due to a faulty HDMI out?
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Probably OC and ATP tweak causing the trouble, because some system files (checked during install updated) are not standard any more
If you are rooted and you changed anything like deleting bloatware or changed your systemUI the update will fail... has to be stock
I have the same exact issue down to the dead android logo during 30% update process.
Again, NOT unlocked but ROOTED.
I have not modded any of the system file EXCEPT for the AGPS patch in the dev forum. I do not have the original files before the patch...someone help please.
Thanks,

You can't relock the bootloader and flashing a stock recovery would brick your tablet.
experiencing the same issue here I own a C2 model with locked bootloader, ota rootkeeper, ez overclock and some debloating, so I got no idea what to do lol
Same here.
Stock, rooted, bootloader locked.
I backed up *some* of the crap arrived with the device, tried to titanium them back, no dice.
Are we forever doomed to walk the planet with .15 when everyone will flash there <something-yummy-starting-with-Z-here>.350?
Meh.
is it possible to flash a stock .15 ruu from asus which would allow us to update? although that way I'm afraid we would lose root and would need to backup our data beforehand..
I had this problem on the .14 to .15 update also. Just reinstall the .15 update manually using this method you can get the .15 update from asus site just make sure you get the right version
Then try the OTA again after redoing the .15 and it finally should worked
I did what this person did on his post.

Dude, you're awesome as sniffing cocaine off a stripper's behind.
Per your advice, I followed asus manual update guide (would have post link, but xda says I'm too noob to do so) after which I OTA'ed like a champ.
Thx mate.

[Q] Feb 2013 Recent Maps Update from ATT

I recently was pushed the an update from ATT... Since my phone is rooted, unlocked, and on NottachTrix4G (1.3.1) and I thought I had the OTA updating service disabled... Apparently not. I stupidly got annoyed at it and downloaded it. Of course when I ran it, it gave me the wonderful fail boot screen. I used my clockwork and recovered it fine.
My question after this ramble:
How to I prevent this from being offered/pushed at the phone again? What process or multiple ones need to be killed or frozen?
I have no problems running scripts or just getting the paid version of Titanium to accomplish this, which ever is more effective and easier to manage long term.
Thanks.

Your best bet is using Titanium and freezing the 'updater',

5.0.1 out today

Downloading it now at a blistering 200 kb/s as I refuse to pay, lol.
Oh, it's on Kies, too.
Just finished update via Kies, we'll see how this runs.
Welp, Kingroot no longer works....
I'm downloading now. I honestly found that I don't really need root. I have the 4.4.4 firmware saved so assume I can go back to 4.4.4 if I want later. I'm going to grab 5.0 before it loads as well.

Yeah, haven't really found anything nagging that I need root for, either.
5.0.1 is a nice improvement. . Seems to run smoothly with better battery life. Be prepared to completely start fresh as you will basically be installing the new 5.0.1 OS in place of the 4.4.4. Both my phone as well as my wife's required me to run the recovery feature during the upgrade process [deleting all but my ext. SD card].
Yes! Finally! Installed and doing well !!
Any way to force the Software Update? Guess I'm not one of the ones who are eligible to download it as of yet.. just got the first preliminary software update

Just to confirm, KingRoot doesn't work?
Do you know if we can revert back to Kitkat?

Correct, I even tried the updated 4.1 version from the Xperia board and it was a no go.
I would assume we could downgrade via odin if you have the old firmware saved or downloaded, but I haven't tried,

I can also confirm KingRoot doesn't work. I tried the 4.5 version with no luck. :crying:
I will download the kitkat firmware and see if I can revert.
I'll keep you posted.
****ing unusable.
Snapchat freezes *THE ENTIRE PHONE* all while making it unbearably hot to touch.
Swiftkey hangs and has to be force closed.

Im also curious to know if you can flash back to an earlier firmware. If you can go back to ANL1 OR AOC1, that would be awesome. Im getting mine in about 2 weeks, so this is a must-know.
I have been running 5.0.1 since this post went up. Phone has been running terrible. Guess the whole memory leak issues with lollipop is just a thing across the board. Everything takes forever to happen, and I have to restart a LOT.
Let it be noted I just updated to 5.0.1 without a factory reset. I might do a reset this weekend and see if it performs better starting from scratch on 5.0.1, instead of running previous apps on new OS.
I have all three available firmwares for the VZW Edge. I can upload them to my server tonight. Would be faster downloading then trying to fight SamMobile for them. Let me know if that would help anyone here.
it'd hep me greatly. after waiting months for lollipop for months, it arrives with a gigantic letdown. overheating, horrible battery life, lag and force crashes/apps freezing. virtually none of these problems before lollipop came about. going to back things up with Helium first, then do a factory reset and see if that improves anything before i try to see about reverting back to lollipop or just using my note 4 instead.
I get it fixed. Hang on.
Link works but site wants username and password for access
Links fixed. Sorry about that.
N915VVRU1ANL1_N915VVZW1ANL1_VZW.zip
N915VVRU1AOC2_N915VVZW1AOC2_VZW.zip
N915VVRU2BOF2_N915VVZW2BOF2_VZW.zip
Has anyone had any luck downgrading? I want to go back to KitKat, but can't seem to flash AOC2 with Odin.
