Im confused between I9100 and Motorola Atrix 4G
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3709&idPhone2=3621
I dont care about screen size or performance as both is dual-core or battery
All i care is the Solid Build cause i considered to be a bad user and its very likely to drop the phone and i want a phone can handle a bad Handler
I already have Motorola Defy but i want i a better performance and a phone equiped with 1GB ram and dual-core cpu

Well based on the link you gave, the s2 is a better device. But if I was you, I would go to the dev section of both devices and see which one is better.
But if I was choosing, I would get the s2

consider this...
With whatever phone you buy you need to remember it is a PHONE... it will break.. the i9100 is an EPIC phone and was my best phone purchase to date.... Motorola builds a damn strong phone... BUT I promise you will enjoy the i9100 more.. it is one of the most developed phones on xda and has an awesome following.. you will get better OS support and faster releases... get the i9100, invest in a nice case.., root it, and flash Resurrection Remix Rom... you will be a happy camper..

I highly appreciate your help and feel grateful
Im also feels good towards S2 but i wait for Atrix Opinions as you advised ,
Honestly Motorola Defy is the STRONGEST phone ever bought , simply life proof and if you want to break it ,you wont have success easily.

Thanks for all help attempts
I have both phones and the s2 is way way better than the atrix 4g if not only because of the screen. I also tested both devices running cm10 tho you still don't have a proper camera or hw accel on the atrix.
now about the build quality, I always loved Motorola for this and the s2 feels like it could break with anything but with a good case and some care, you would be safe.
All in all, I would go for the s2

Hey guys
Im new here. I am looking to buy SGS2 for about 26k. The problem however here(in India) is that the sellers say that they cannot distinguish between 9100 and 9100G, the model could be either of these..so its kind of a gamble, i could either get 9100 or 9100G.. :|
Now i researched quite a bit and have seen few negative reviews bout 9100G..that processor and gpu are inferior, processor doesnt reach its maximum limit(clocked at 1.008 ghz), and performance is slightly lower than original 9100..
So basically i just want to ask..whether the performance of 9100G is really that inferior, quite noticable in demanding apps? I mean i want to do loads of multitasking, heavy gaming etc.and will buying 9100G for 26k be worth?
Or i could buy some other mobile like htc evo 3d or motorola atrix 2 for lesser price and get similar performance to 9100g?
please do answer asap, im really eager to buy the mobile
thanks a lot
In retroperspective, I wouldn't buy the I9100G because of all the reasons you mentioned (inferior gpu, less developement).
You can however distinguish the G from the normal I9100 on boot (it says I9100G). It is also specified on the box.
One last thing - the cpu is limited to 1GHz but you can overclock it to the intended speed without worry.
Sent from my GT-I9100G using XDA
Dude it is specified on the box...at the bottom width wise side... but if you want i9100 you can buy from flipcart.com... they wont **** with customers and wese bhi no G model on that site

you started a thread in development area to ask about S2??????common man there is a Q n A area, there is an FB page, there is GOOGLE yet of all the places you choose a development area????
For me G version is the best, all games are working perfectly on my G and i heard some games arent working for 9100. But its up to you to decide.
The 3d performance is better on the g and long battery life and less overheated ...

Only people who have G's say you should buy G's.
DON'T BUY IT !!
I have the regular i9100 but i create rom's etc for the i9100G (mainly for the Israeli community). There is little choice as far as Rom's, Mod's and Kernel's go.
The regular i9100/i9100T is a much better idea.
And as for performance at battery life, Okey the G has slightly mod battery life but its slower so no wonder.
I put a LPQ g VS an LPQ i9100 and the regular was definitely faster.
from what i know, i could tell you that, you have done the right research, and "yoelsd" have mentioned it correctly. I have both G and non-G version, G version specs is not really that good.
A. Its clocked at 1.2 ghz not 1 ghz
B.Yes less roms r there but CM9 got ported no big difference in performance cuz i m running gta3 on i9100g and mc3 the games look awesome and highly detailes so no big difference b/w the 2 models imo

Since the ICS update I have a higher score for the CPU in AnTuTu that I had in GB. It also always show 1.2 GHz now (it used to show 800 Mhz or 1008 Mhz).
What you can read about the CPU performance is no longer true.

it all depends on the user who is going to use it, what are the usage and how he is going to use it. the difference between a non-g version and a g version is the hardware, overall there isnt too much of the difference in it. So it all depends on u, cheers!!
For me there's another important difference:
Sound quality.
the Yamaha DAC used on I9100 it's not good as the one in OMAP processor.
I'm an audiophile.
in which age your now G never stops on 1.08 GHz its boosted to 1.2 GHz
If u want to get an 'S2', u should get the non-g. Take a look at the non-g forum u will see a big different, u will have a lot roms, kernels, ... and more support from devs.
If u can't buy the non-g then go buy anyphone u want EXCEPT the s2g.
U should choose the phone that got support from devs.

Dont be so negative on the 'g' . in fact its doing quiet well except lack of devs support. Its quiet fast and smooth ( i can say that its definitely faster than galaxy ace because i have one ). I like to play with phone so the ' ace ' is better because it have a lot of devs support.
BUT, if i have chance i will try to buy a non-g.

I have a SGSII. I can test the Nexus and personally I won't change for it. Ok, the update can be faster, but if you can put CM10 if you want the last version (yes, with some bugs, but they make a excellent job).
Only my opinion...
Nexus' biggest disadvantage: no microSD slot!!
Sent from my GT-I9100
in galaxy nexus 5mp camera. in sgs2 8mp camera
there is no sdcard slot in galaxy nexus.
I choose sgs2 and I don't want change it for galaxy nexus
Have a look at them both here

Personally would not have a Nexus over SGS2 regardless of updates

may sound like a good "upgrade" but really I promise it isn't... Galaxy Nexus is same guts with a lesser camera... a more clunky feel in your pocket and lacks gorilla glass.... the development that is going on in the xda community here is far superior to anything you will find stock from the nexus... before you jump ship... give the team's work a try.

Howdy,
For testing purposes I want to load a pre-ICS ROM on my GalaxyS3. I need the flash built in that got dropped with ICS.
Has anyone tried this? If so, what are recommended ROMs?
If no one has done this, what ROMs are closest to what the S3 runs and would stand the greatest chance of working?
Thanks,
Joe
Presume this is a test to see how fast you can brick your SGS3 .
Adobe Flash player works on ICS .

to be equally fair, i'm in the same boat. i had a captivate for a while, loved the gb roms i flashed constantly to find my favourite. bought an s2 and absolutely love the phone. i hard bricked my previous s2, i dont think i had the right kernel, something i did was for a non canadian version of the s2. after i sold that one i bought another brand new s2. the s3 was around for a little while at this point but my girlfriend has a galaxy nexus and her sister an s3 and i just dont like the way ics and jb look, feel and operate. it felt like switching from windows to a mac after using windows for years. i would go to close a window and the 'x' was in the upper left and not right like windows.
its a personal opinion, i'm sure in many ways firmwares past gb are better in many quantifiable ways, but i just dont like em. not to mention the stupid physical home button like some loser iphone. i love the 4 backlit buttons that samsung uses on many devices like the blu ray player i have. it's just awesome.
anyway, long story short - is there any other demand worth warranting a dev to make a gb rom for phones past that version of android?
in closing, think of the amount of roms out there for the captivate which are based on froyo people still use. gb ics and even jb roms are available but many people still prefer the look and feel of froyo.
anyway, long story short - is there any other demand worth warranting a dev to make a gb rom for phones past that version of
Got a couple of thousand to spare might interest a dev otherwise not likely .

Okay i recently got into rooting and putting custom roms on my phone right now i have an HTC evo 4g.
But i am eligable for an upgrade with sprint i have been waiting for a while because i knew there would be an amazing phone to be released soon enough and i am starting to think the SIII.
Is this phone worth it? I would only be paying 250$ for the 32gb and 199$ for the 16gb with my upgrade.
is there any other phones that are up there with the galaxy s3 on sprints network? Or should i just go and get this phone.
is it alot faster then the s2? also will i be able to put jellybean on it if i was to get it? is there a stable release out.
Yes. Go get this phone.
Is the best currently available.

Buy the phone if you want it. It's a great phone but it may not suit your needs. Check it the specs and compare it with other phones you can choose from .
Your s3 model won't be the international version, it will be the dial core version so check their forum to see their development.

The dual core GS3 has documented and developer-friendly Qualcomm = definitely worth buying.
S3 is easily the best phone I have ever owned (and I have owned a great many top-spec phones).
That said I preferred the S2 in terms of size and weight. But the S3 has a higher quality screen and considerably better battery life
Oooh i see now the I9300 is the quad core version which is not in the US
The US version is dual core.

Thank you very much.
Just wanted to add my opinion to this one as I'm sick of all the exnos bashing.
Just because cm devs can't get it to work properly does not mean it's bad. It's the best version and I've never ever used a ti Omap or Qualcomm based phone that wasn't **** and dont get me started on cm roms on phones as from desire onwards I've never encountered a cm version worth installing as they aren't worth it. Stock android has always been and always will be lacking and ugly no matter how many cookie cutter mods you implement like volume button wake which is old old old.
Do yourself a favour and stick to Samsung based roms and save the headache and the laughs from people who see your stock android device and the pictures that come off the aosp camera among other things.
The SG III is way better value than the iphone 5.
If you want something "worth buying", you are the only one who can actually decide on this.. because it may/may not suit you. So i suggest you search and gather info for yourself so you get accurate infos
I do not mean to flame or anything, just a mini-suggestion. Hopefully this will help you in your decision
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I am surprised that no one said that you should wait for the Note 2 or the new Nexus or the next Galaxy S x, where x>3. There will always be better, but when you actually start using the phone you see that you don't need anything more, except less call log lag
It is that great that I don't even have the urge to root it right now and I rooted and reflashed everything android I had before.
Hey guys
Should I rather buy a s3 or another smartphone if I want to flash a custom rom and have a reliable handy? I have a i9000 now and want a new smartphone that is faster and still has got frequent community support.
Also, I read that the european version has got an exynos chipset, is that a problem for custom rom support?

I would still suggest to stick with Samsung becoz:-
1. You can use external memory card
2. You can use a detachable battery. Most of phones apart from Samsung coming with sealed battery.
I love HTC phones, however for above reason I am still using S3.
I would say look for your budget, spending too much on a phone is not justifiable. S3 is still a rock solid phone and you can get it cheaper.
I do not really bother whether I am getting Kit Kat or not, because still people are happy using ICS.
I would rather suggest you to buy Motorola Moto G phone, amazing phone for affordable price, and also it's much better than Galaxy S3,because it's will get updates a lot quicker than Samsung, much smoother UI,a lot less bloatware.
