I charge almost all my devices with USB charge point interchangeably. BlackBerry, Sony, set top box, Apple

I dont reccomend you to do this, because different chargers have different voltages, and output amperage, and you can damage the battery of iphone.
First of all look at voltages, if they are the same - go ahead)

is it specific to Sony? …..... because I was using iphone's models for many years, and I never unplug it from the lap-top during the day when i'm in the office, and I never get a battery issue!?
I don't think Charing via pc will affect the battery life.
Only stressing the phone while charging will kill the battery.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
I can't see how charging via usb can do anything to the battery? The standard charger is only a transformer so its at usb voltage for charging
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
thank you guys for your comments;
but anyone have an evidence for that? I mean: any one get a issue after charging its phone via USB all the day ? or it's just theories? ..... I'm doing that for many years, and I never get an issue! or maybe because I'm changing my phone every one year .. more-or-less! so if the impact of the charging can comes after 5 or 10 years, I don't mind! anyway the mobile is obsolete after so many years ...
if u read on ur charger (AC) : 5.0VDC , 850mA
while USB plug is 5V 500mA "in general"
this means AC will charge faster and USB will take longer time which may affect battery stats set by android OS..
i passed through personal experience with my arc S
thanks amfirbek92; ... so the problem is maybe due to Andoirdoid! because I started using android only two months ego! ....
I read in the XDA forum, (I'm not able to find the thread!) that android stop charging when the battery is at 100% and start recharging when it became at 90% again and again if the mobile is still plugged to the charger! is it the case ?
if yes, so if I'll keep my mobile plugged to the AC charger all the day, this will not afect the battery ! right ? ...
Something like rom manager, you need root, I'm sure has an option for resetting the battery stored stats etc, so i think it effectively has to learn again. Might be that simple?

that's right..if u use ur cell while it's 100% charged and still plugged into AC u'll see battery will decrease to 90% then restart to charge..anw cleaning battery stats u can find it by flashing a cwm recovery this is useful :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1596285 here u must reflash back the kernel.sin (be careful to follow instructions)
or an easier way is to flash this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280&highlight=cwm it's an advanced kernel stock based and has DL recovery (i didn't try it yet )
thanks Ben, .... I've an old x10 pro, rooted that I'm using as a “guinea-pig” to learn more about android rooting, I'll test if ROM manager can offer this option.
thanks amfirbek92 .... for the moment, I'm not ready to root or flash my xperia S, I'm still a noob in android :silly: .... I don't want to break it !!

[Q] iMac charging

Hi,
I tried searching - but couldn't find any answer about this issue.
My iMac doesn't seem to charge my S3. Whenever the USB is connected, it is showing as if it "charging" but it barely charges the phone, rather it keeps discharging.
Is anyone experiencing this aswell?
Thanks!
USB provides lower voltage than a wall charger, so depending on use it could be at a standstill, discharging at the same rate its charging. Plug into a wall for much faster charging
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks.
I thought that it might be it, but the iMac sure charges the iPad and iPhone 4s easily.
Might be the 40-whatever pin charger the i-stuffs use is parallel charging different cells of the battery which wouldn't happen with android (most batts have 4 pins, 2 for temp and 2 for use, while the microusb has 5 pins, 2 for power, 2 for data, and one isn't connected I believe). Idk BC I don't like apple lol

you can flash custom kernel and change the default(475mA) USB charge to 800mA, tested and charge fast on USB mode

Rooting to fast charge from a laptop? I'd keep my warranty jk lol but seriously stick the damn thing into a wall lol
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
Note that you can badly damage computer motherboards if they do not provide the necessary power if you decide to configure the phone to use >500mA charging.
Most computer manufacturers have got rid of current limiters, so if the hardware cannot handle over 50%overload the weakest part will blow - which might well be a power conductor within the layers of the board, potentially damaging other components too.
Best case your usb plug just dies.
Even if the iMac support fastcharge, you'll always have to remember to lower it again before plugging it into other computers.

No. Just don't charge your N7 with the XPS charger.
And don't charge XPS with the N7 charger.
It's fine, you can mix and match, the phone will just draw what it needs. My Xperia U came with a 0.85A charger, I use my HP Touchpad 2A charger with anything that needs USB charging and it works fine.
Just dont charge sxs with n7, n7 can charge with sxs though

You can charge any device with any charger using USB ... it will max out at 5V ....

Every charger with usb are 5 volt

Thanks for your answers but now im more confused! So the thing it counts is the voltage not the ampere? Sorry the ignorance!
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Yes, basically you need the same voltage, all USB chargers should be 5v, as long as that is ok the phone will only draw the amount of amps it requires.
There was an topic about this.
Someone confirmed that the max loadcapacity was 1550 mA.

charge s3 with neo v charger ???? safe??

hello guys,
today i purchased 2nd hand s3 of my friend. but he did not provide me charger as it was not available wid him.
till then i am charging it with my neo v charger!
is it safe??
thanks.
Well, theoretically it will work..
It must actually..
But one of my friends said he had a heat up problem on his galaxy note with Sony charger..
His phone was heated up to 55°C..
Not once or twice.. but around 10-15 times..
Check once.. if this is what happens, go buy a USB cable and charge it with your computer.. its simple..

Microusb is the standard for most phone manufacturers so most will work. I have a desire, arc s, galaxy s3, galaxy note, optimus chargers which all work well on my s3

Charger problem

Hi everyone
I have a little problem i just bought a new charger cuz old one's cable was cutted near microusb jack
Charger works good but now touchscreen dont works as it should
Charger specs are clearly visible in attached pics
It wasn't cheap and case have genuine samsung logo
Maybe it doesnt matter but im using revolution rom with its own kernel
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have not seen similar chargers from samsung in my retail stores but that may not mean anything since these things change overseas apparently. All I can say is that I had similar problems with chargers that were not original that provided less current than the phone needed to charge, and the behavior was similar to what you said.
I don't know if you can, but I would test the power output of the charger you have with a multimeter.
Good luck.
Unfortunately i dont have a multimeter
